Kung Pao and egg rolls

My go to for Chinese food when in Reno. Good food and service. Lots of food so I have leftovers.

Good eats! Great Service! High prices but not bad at all. The French toast cooked just right.

We always make a point to stop at Café Central before we head back home. We've been here before, and it remains a reliable favorite. This time, our server was Gerardo, and he did a great job checking in on us regularly. On top of the attentive service, our breakfast came out incredibly quick. It's the perfect, convenient spot for a fast and delicious meal before a drive.

This was our second visit here and this time we came for dinner. It was the Friday before 4th of July so it was a bit busy, but we were still seated right away. It was a bit noisy with the restaurant and foot traffic going through Silver Legacy, but that was okay with us. Naomi, our server, was very attentive, friendly, and courteous. The ribeye was cooked perfect and seasoned well. Actually better than I expected. My wife went with the fish and chips, and first glance I was impressed with the portion of the fried Haddock. Reminded of how they do fish and chips in the UK which I prefer. The Haddock was fresh while the batter was very crispy. The chips were great as well. We actually went back the next night and I had to get it. This is slowly developing into a go-to spot whenever we come to Reno. They're menus are pretty versatile and can't wait what to try next.

Not just iced tea, but also an extra glass of ice

Quite a good meal at Cafe Central for a quick dinner before catching a red eye flight home. After spending a day at Circus Circus / Silver Legacy casinos, we chose to have dinner at the casino rather than finding a local spot. We sat down at Cafe Central and it was really a pleasant surprise. First off, the menu is vast - it's got American dishes, Italian, and Asian selections. I chose the egg rolls and legacy fried rice and was pleased by both. The egg rolls come 4 to an order, and they were as good as any egg rolls I've had in a Chinese restaurant. The legacy fried rice was both delicious and creatively prepared - it was egg-fried rice with good size chunks of veggies, meat and baby shrimp added. While Esmeralda was a wonderful server, the true surprise came from Matthew who brought us both an iced tea and a separate glass of ice - very above and beyond proactive service! Esmeralda also brought a to-go cup so that I could bring my remaining soft drink on the road. Pricing was reasonable averaging about $45 a person including appetizer, entree, drinks, tip/tax. For all that was delivered, this is quite a reasonable value. If I were traveling through Reno again, I would certainly return to Cafe Central.

We spent the day in the casino and hotel and decided to get some dinner here tonight. It is on the second floor of the Silver Legacy casino. The restaurant offers a lot of Asian themed dishes, as well as a few Italian dishes and some standard American style dishes. We started with the egg rolls and they tasted great. For my entree I had the Teriyaki bowl. It had broccoli, red peppers, onions, rice and chicken thighs with a little container of sauce. It was plentiful and tasty. My husband had the fried rice bowl and thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was great from our server, Esmerelda, as well as from Matthew, who got us our drinks, including an extra cup of ice for each of us.

Oh my goodness let's eat !

Let's get our eat on after a long long day of fun and playing. This little cafe is most definitely popular and worth visiting. First off you can smell the food as you walk by. You most definitely will salivate. Plus the lines show that it's good eating. It's a local thing we are sure ! While in Reno let's explore the best ! Mmmm they serve comfort style foods and eats . The menu is simple and delicious! It's a dine in primarily! We had to be waited to eat. It's worth the wait . The staff are really friendly! The ordering process simple ! As you sit and wait for your order relax . The dining area is open and comfortable. You can get to know one another, people watch and then the foods here ! Yum let's eat! The eggs and avocado great. All is fresh and healthy! The other half had a club ! It's a win win and we can sample ourselves off each other's plates . The food was delicious! Service grand. Time to pay the bill and be off with carbs and protein to burn as we advance to the next round of fun!

We like coming here for late night eats or after concerts or early before check out. . Dinner time any time after 4pm. We like getting the pho soup. We also like getting the crispy Vietnamese chicken too. . Breakfast we like getting the steak and eggs with hash brown and bacon. . Also we like getting some pancakes too. . The service is a hit or miss. Sometimes it takes a while for the food to come out when it is busy. Ambiance here is casual and nothing fancy. The menu does the cravings for late night to early mornings. . Overall I highly recommend the viet crispy chicken rice dish. Which is my favorite with the crispy chicken skin and simple white rice and dip too. Hipe this review helps and have a yelptastic day.

Good, but they screwed up the eggs...
Alan C.

I was going to order room service, but when I saw the. * $14* room service service charge? I decided to go down to the restaurant. Until I saw the line. OK, to go back to my room it is... when I got to the room and saw the receipt, they still charged me $2.99 for it to go order. Who charges for food to go? I'm doing them a favor by not taking up space in their restaurant. I ordered the Chilaquiles, and overall, they were very good. They came with Yellow & blue corn tortilla chips, house-made chorizo, refried beans, 2 eggs any style, pico de gallo, queso fresco, and ranchero sauce. I was surprised at the heaviness of the bag. I get it up to my room, and the portion was very large. Overall, it was good. The chips were not soggy, I liked the flavor of the chorizo, and it was tender. The beans were not gummy at all, the pico and the ranchero sauce gave it a bit of a "kick", but well within what I like for spicy. The queso fresco was a bit tangy, and helped offset the richness of the rest of the meal. They blew it on the eggs. I love it when the yolk drips down into my food. I was worried that they would "hammer" the over easy eggs, so I asked for sunny side up. Guess what? No yolk whatsoever. They popped the yolks. How in the. H-E- double hockey sticks do you screw up a sunny side up egg? Overall, though the rest of the food was amazingly good. The Price was a little bit on the higher end, but for what I got, very reasonable. (except for that stupid to go charge...) I also like the fact that they are open 24 hours a day. I will be back. Thank you.

USBC Open Championship Photo Opportunity right across Cafe Central

If you are out of options, you have a chance to gamble your stomach's future here. Was here for a weekend to compete at USBC Nationals across the street. The hotel is great. The food here... not so much. First, we came with 10 people total and tried to split up the tables to avoid gratuity fees and long orders and stress on the waiter. However, we ended up having to go at different times and sit far away from each other so we can pretend to be strangers. As far as the food, my friends order was burnt eggs and not edible. My order was less cooked eggs and not scrambled as I asked. They call it Casino Breakfast because your odds of winning are slim to none. Others at my table ordered burgers and they looked ok at best. On top of that, they thought we all ordered soda when that wasn't close to accurate. The waitress did her best and took off the badly cooked meal and all the sodas. With the bowler's discount, still on the high side. Think of your favorite breakfast restaurant, increase the menu prices, and reduce the food portions. That is Cafe Central! Enjoy!

Shrimp pad Thai
Lauren K.

Pleasantly surprised! Decided to dine here for the first time after catching a live performance. They were busy but we were able to be seated immediately. Their menu has lots of options if you can't decide what cuisine you want. I went with shrimp pad Thai. Our food came out SO fast and it was hot and delicious. Our server was very friendly and patient with our table. She made sure we had everything we needed and checked on us often. I would definitely come here again.

Came back from the Peppermill after watching Padres playoff game. They won. Ate late dinner at cafe central. Very good. Won ton soup, Asian chix salad and Caesar salad. Great service. Recommend for quick dinner.

Great prices, kind staff, and delicious food. The ambiance is neat with the casino right next to the cafe. The ambiance is nice. Not too bright but not dark. Easy on the eyes. It's also not too loud as you might expect it to be.

I actually ate here 3 days in a row so I got a good taste of the experience for sat dinner, sun brunch, and then Monday brunch on the way out. The first night, I came with family, who ordered the Brussel sprouts, which came out a little over cooked, soft, not crispy, and the balsamic was just ok. However I did share the gigantic ribeye dinner with my date and it was honestly one of the better steaks I've had recently, especially considering the size, it was cooked perfectly medium rare, and the veggies and mashed potatoes that came with it were amazing. The server was also very friendly and funny, the experience in general was a 4.8. The second day I came in for brunch, the server that we had was truly a delight, she was extremely friendly, her name which I forgot, was a spice like Cinnamon or something. Anyway, she was very sweet, she let me and my gf sit next to each other and take up two tables, even though it was quite a busy time (they do have a large back room). I was able to build my own omelet which was nice since like I said I was in a strict diet. I had the San Francisco omelet with mods, which came with ground beef, spinach, mushrooms, I also added zucchini, pickled jalapeños and some bacon. It was amazing! Once again, the server seemed like she would go out of her way to make our experience a great one! I will also say that they had some soul music playing which me and my girlfriend really liked (bias of course). Unfortunately the Monday brunch was not as great of an experience as the other two days. I will give a little grace considering it's Monday, and the bartender was the only one serving in the whole place, he did not live up to the standards the first two servers provided. Anyway, we walked in and there was one person in the whole place, sitting at the bar, we sat next to the window and I asked if I can push the two tables together so I can sit next to her, he actually said no initially bc he wanted to save room for bigger crowds (keep in mind, this place is empty and they have a huge back room), he eventually said "it's all good we are not that busy right now anyway." His negative tone kind of set the "tone" for the rest of the experience. I ended up getting a coffee while my date a latte, the coffee was noticeably not hot, and tasted kind of stale, when he came to refill my coffee later, it was still not hot at all, I don't want to say it was cold but it was just kind of warm, and kind of gross. This time I decided to get the same omelet with egg whites, initially I was unsure if he would be willing to go out of his way to accommodate for the previous modifications, but I asked and he was "willing", though he seemed a bit annoyed (maybe this is just his usual face). The omelet came out different obviously with it being egg whites and unfortunately it was a little runny, while the veggies were a little overcooked. I realize that cooking with egg whites are not as easy as regular eggs but either way, it was noticeably runny. The server did show that he had a little sense of humor and could smile at one point while helping a different group, mainly at the expense of a group of teenagers who came as a group of 10 kids to post up a single poster in the window. It was nice to see that he "could" smile. Ultimately, he was ok, but a little awkward, and really never smiled. The breakfast wasn't terrible, the seasoning (like the other meals, was great, the potatoes came with bell peppers and green onions on top and were good, and other than the eggs being a little runny, it was still good. The music was also different, 80s punk/ Ramones radio. To top things off, I ordered some house made pickles, which I was very excited about since I was a little hungover, but they never showed up :( Like many of the other reviews, it was pretty expensive, which is understandable since they advertise that most of the ingredients are organic and locally sourced. Two omelets, a coffee and a latte came out to $80, not including tip. I am willing to pay for great quality food and great service, but it does little room for error, and the last experience did have quite a few of them. At the end of the day, it is a unique place that offers a lot, breakfast, lunch, dinner, organic ingredients, a charming ambience that reminded me of a grog bar, midtown setting that is a short walk from the riverwalk and downtown. Obviously I liked the place since I came back twice, and if the option of 4.5 stars was possible I would give it here bc the first two experiences were stellar. And, if i never came in on Monday, it would've been easily a 5 star rating. AND once again, I'd hate to judge a place based on the performance on a Monday morning, however, I simply can't give this place 5 stars after that last experience.
