Headed here again to celebrate New Orleans and mardi gras They have a special Mardi Gras menu The food service and atmosphere are top notch I highly recommend the sassy Fiona to drink We must love it we keep coming back

Chicken AND WAFFLE

Solid bunch spot with seemingly authentic creole food, brought to you by an authentically-trained chef. The brunch is SO good! That's most worth coming in for, based on our (as well as friebds') experiences.

Not true Nola food. Portions are a lot smaller than in Nola also. Not true ettufa. Service is great. Good ambiance

SHRIMP PO' BOY (OTTER)

First thing I will say is that the service at BrewRiver is great. The staff is very friendly and you can tell they really like where they work. I do wish the ambiance is a little more on theme, but it's still very nice and has plenty of seating. The food is unfortunately 50/50. The gumbo poutine app we got was incredible - I could eat that forever. My shrimp po' boy was very good. The chicken dinner, however, left much to be desired. The chicken was too sweet and there wasn't enough variety in the rest of the dish to balance it. I have been here before and loved the food, but this was my friend's first impression and it unfortunately didn't resonate. Maybe just stick to the seafood or New Orlean's inspired dishes only, and you'll be good!

Alligator and Waffle

We came here on a Sunday evening for live music, but were disappointed to find that the band advertised on the website wasn't the one playing. For food, we tried the alligator with waffle and the shrimp étouffée. Unfortunately, both dishes were pretty underwhelming. The étouffée was extremely salty and the alligator was tough. The standout was the waffle, which was thick, soft, and crispy all at once. Overall, it ended up being an average to below-average dining experience. Not a place I'd rush back for.

First time there we did the tasting menu Easter Sunday. We loved it! The atmosphere, the music, the food & service-all great. A real fun place! The Gumbo was perfect. I may have just that next time but FOMO may kick in. The Eggs St Charles with Goetta were yummy -great Goetta! The jambalaya was as authentic as everything else. The Bananas, Foster, bread pudding and dark chocolate brownie we're just the right ending to such a terrific meal. Try this place!

Highly recommend the Alligator and Waffle. It was a delicious meal after a play at The Arinoff.

Loveeeeeed the food here! Definitely coming back to try all the food items! Decided to come here to Restaurant week. It was so nice outside. We got a table outside, so it was really casual. Inside the ambience includes some live music at the bar and is a little bit more intimate at the dining area. Got the chicken and sausage gumbo as a starter and the pasta Monika as the small plate. For dessert, we got the banana bread pudding. First off, the gumbo was my absolute favorite. So much flavor and spices, and it came out hot and perfect. I wish I had the option of having it as a giant bowl. The pasta Monica was also very delicious. I didn't really taste basil, but there was spinach and the sauce was very creamy and thick. It also says small plate so I was worried it would not be enough, but this was actually the perfect amount to fill you up.and then finally the dessert. Oh that came out warm gooey and absolutely perfect just the right amount of the caramel sauce and whipped cream. Service was a bit slow for a Wednesday evening. Took a while for the sever to come out after being seated and again afegetting drink orders in but it was such a nice day out and wasn't that much of a bother, though we were starting to get hungry. However, the gumbo definitely held us over well until the main dish came out. Everyone on staff was really friendly and apologetic of the weight so that was really really nice. Drinks were not that amazing it felt more like a bar while drink than a cocktail. I felt they had to substitute a lot of things that were in the menu or description and wish they had asked first if you're okay with it vs doing it so you could get something else if needed. For example, there was no cucumber on the Pimm's Cup and they had added limes and cherries, not just lemon. I'm not a huge citrus flavor person. It was still refreshing I just may have gotten something else. on Wednesdays they have $3 martinis, half-price bottles of wine and $2 off any bar drinks for an all day happy hour special which is a nice benefit of going on Wednesdays. Overall, I left very satisfied with my food and really want to come back to try all the other delicious sounding entrées. As I looked around the tables at what other people ordered it looks like the portions are all the good value. I really want to try the Creole jambalaya, the shrimp and grits, mussels, and the Creole étouffée. I will definitely be back!

Egg sardou

We walked in and we're greeted by the sound of a live polka sounding band playing and the bartender coming up to the hostess stand and it was the weirdest interaction I've experienced walking into a restaurant. The guy asked if we had a reservation in a very clearly not busy restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. We said that we did not have one and he said, "okay so what's going on here?" We said, "what do you mean what's going on? We would like a table?" And he said, "oh. Ok." And then walked away. He looked as if he was hungover or didn't sleep well or something, but ... you're at work? Sooooo put on your best acting skills and be friendly and polite to customers walking in the doors of the restaurant? Just a thought. Just very odd experience and I'm surprised we didn't walk out with that being the initial interaction. Anyways. The hostess came over and sat us at a table for two and we had some late lunch/ brunch with a great waitress. The Bloody Mary was topped with olives and bacon, pretty standard taste for a Bloody Mary, no complaints, nothing special. The Eggs sardou was a dish recommended by our waitress, and I can see why. The eggs were perfectly poached paired with artichoke hearts, creamed spinach and crispy potatoes to complement the meal. This was fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone going there. We also ordered the Eggs st. Charles dish. It was good, and the biscuit was fluffy and tasted heavenly with the jam that came alongside it. I'd consider ordering a plate of biscuit from there because they were so delicious. Overall, great food, great waitress, meh to the guy bartender with lighter hair and pierced ears.

PASTA MONICA
Jessica W.

Our server was amazing! Upon learning this was our first visit, she went through the menu with recommendations. Side note: if your server makes recommendations, get that thing! They've tasted everything on the menu, so they know what's up. She said the chef is straight from NOLA - and you can taste it! R had fried catfish, which is one of his favorites. I had the pasta Monica. If you love creole (or want to try it) definitely give them a visit.

Anyone know when the new location will be open? They are 45 days late on their target date but the look close!!! (12/16/18)

i was told by the owner the 28th. They were delayed by permits and inspections.

Do they have a private room that can be reserved for up to 20 people?

The food is outstanding across the board--from the steaks to the cheese sticks--but the real star is their bread pudding. It's absolutely worth the trip from anywhere in the tri-state area. Parking is also easy and convenient, with a garage right across the street, as well as their own lot and additional street parking. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great meal and an even better experience.

First time visit to Blinkers Tavern at lunch time on a week day. They have a charming patio at the back of the interior space as well. I didn't realize they have their own lot, but in case it's full, there is plenty of street parking nearby. The service was excellent. Our server was very attentive and kept drink refills flowing. We ordered the pretzel and beer cheese and the poutine for starters. The pretzel was huge and tasty. I didn't care for the beer cheese, probably because I was expecting a more solid cheese product. I would describe this more as a cream sauce. It didn't seem to have much cheese in it and was very 'liquidy'. Also the ramekin was only half full. If it had tasted better, I would have asked for more, but as it was not, we didn't even finish what was given. I thought it was a bit pricey at $12.95 for one large pretzel. On the other hand, the poutine was fantastic! A very unique take on the dish with a mix of cheese curds (although they reminded me more of pieces of mozzarella sticks), french fries and Andouille cream gravy. I ordered the fish tacos which consisted of Blackened Salmon, Thai Chili Sauce, Black Bean Corn Salsa, Pico de Gallo. My order came with two and they were fantastic! Since Blinkers is known for steaks, I will have to give them another try at dinner time.

After seeing my niece graduate from college, our entire family and guests, all eight of us,…read moredescended on Coppin's restaurant for brunch. Normally, I find hotel food is just okay and nothing special, but Coppin's was a pleasant surprise. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess, and our equally pleasant server quickly brought menus and asked what we would like to drink. When it was my turn, I happily ordered Coppin's Old Fashioned. I was the odd man out because everyone else ordered the Spring Manhattan. Judging by how quickly everyone's drinks disappeared, I'd say they were all very tasty. I was a little unsure about mine at first, so to make sure the quality and taste were consistent, I ordered a second, and it definitely was not a mistake. I ordered the B+G biscuits (which are made by hand according to server in the hotel) and gravy with an extra egg. Others at the table chose a variety of dishes, including the CVG, Cobb Salad, Bagel and Lox, and several other selections. Based on the clean plates all around the table, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. My wife ordered a sample of banana bread, and I was fortunate enough to snag a small bite, it was excellent. After we had all finished, everyone agreed that my niece had made an excellent choice for her graduation celebration brunch. As my wife and I made our way back to Louisville, we both commented that we would definitely return the next time we were in Covington.

Going back and forth on stars for this one. Me and around 30 of my coworkers came into town for a…read moretwo day workshop and they got us a room block at this hotel. I ended up being in the North Building and cracked up when I walked into my room and saw I was in one of the Lightwell Lofts (a few of us ended up in them by chance, guess they included them in our room block lol). While the room was super cool and beautiful, there was a lot to be desired. After taking a million photos of the gorgeous room, I quickly realized a major flaw - the bedroom is upstairs, the bathroom is downstairs, and the staircase between the two is a crazy narrow spiral staircase. As someone that gets up to pee in the middle of the night, having to traverse the spiral stairs was terrifying lol. One of my coworkers actually swapped with someone who had a "normal" room because he was worried about falling down the stairs. My downstairs tv wouldn't turn on. I fiddled with the remote a bit, tried rearranging the batteries, but couldn't turn it on. I used the ipad in the room to put in a maintenance request, but no one came. I figured I would just let the front desk know when I headed out to dinner that night. Hours later, the front desk calls me to see if anyone had come to fix the tv - they hadn't. The girl was very nice and apologetic, she said I sent the request in the middle of a shift change and someone had accidentally marked it as complete. So she said someone would be right up, and he did come up. Handed me a handwritten note and a $25 coupon for Coppin's which was totally unexpected and a very nice gesture. Turned out, he knew exactly what the problem was - he said the remote was broken and he was supposed to swap it out but forgot. Gave me a new remote and all was good. He also mentioned there is a second remote upstairs for that tv. After he left, I went to look for it - there was no second remote. We held our meetings in the Scheper Room, which was also beautiful. The room was absolutely freezing the first day and I'm someone that prefers it a touch colder and was uncomfortable. We had to get them to update the thermostat and then in the afternoon it was way too hot. We had food brought in from the hotel and it was all fine, nothing super memorable. There was soup at lunch but the sign didn't even say what it was - just "chef's choice." The Italian hoagies were way too big and needed to be cut in half, I couldn't even finish half of one. The salad with fruit/pecans/etc was my favorite though. They had the completely wrong password on the tables for the Wifi but thankfully we figured it out quickly that we just had to use the room password. The second day for breakfast, there was yogurt on the menu and even on the sign with all the food - but there was no yogurt. Some of my coworkers were specifically asking for yogurt so we had to request it directly because it was included and paid for. Box lunches to take to go on the second day which were fine, I had the chicken caesar salad wrap. Housekeeping didn't come to service my room until 5pm when I was in there getting ready for dinner, so I was not able to get the room serviced. Just asked them for some more coffee. My conditioner in the shower was empty but I didn't bother reporting it after the tv issue and I had my own conditioner with me, so used that. The lotion at the sink was so thick that I could not get it out of the bottle at all, I had to use q-tips to get it out (it was nice quality, just kinda useless if you can't get it out of the bottle lol). Great local offerings on the mini bar and in the fridge. My coworkers and I got a kick out of the "intimacy kits" because we were on a business trip haha. The Magic 8 ball was fun, I loved the conversation cards even though I just read a few of them to myself haha. Even with the bedroom upstairs, it was nice to have the big double closet in the bathroom hallway so I really was just in the loft to sleep and kept all my stuff downstairs. The location is great, lots of fun stuff right nearby. The courtyard is lovely. I would say this is a solid 3.5 stars but since we can't give half stars, I'll give it a 4 because the staff was overall very nice and quickly fixed any issues, just a little annoying that we had any issues at all.
