    Meatloaf!

This is one of my wife's and my new favorite places. The staff treats us like neighbors, always helpful and friendly. The prices are extremely reasonable and the food really good. They have some nice house cocktails and a good beer list for not being a microbrewery .

This place is ok. The service was good but the food was just ok. We ordered cocktails and an appetizer first. An Old Fashioned for me and an Espresso Martini for my daughter. We ordered the Garlic and Roasted Red Pepper Hummus Platter appetizer. My daughter ordered the Tuscan Chicken entree. I ordered the Swingline Salmon. The cocktails were awesome! Perfectly made. The hummus appetizer was pretty good. It's hummus, veggies and some pita triangles. Our entrees arrived about two minutes after the appetizer. The server came over right afterwards to remark that she tried to time it better. Since our entrees arrived at the same time as the appetizer - we didn't eat much of the appetizer because we didn't want our entrees to be ruined. It really didn't make much of a difference anyway. My Swingline Salmon was overcooked. It had good seasoning and flavor but the dryness made it unappetizing. The potatoes and Brussels sprouts served with it were pretty good. My daughter said the Tuscan Chicken was ok. I tasted it and I understood the "ok". She also enjoyed her side items of potatoes and asparagus. But the main dish of the entree was a miss for both of us. We boxed it up to take home. It was a lot to take home. The appetizer since we didn't get a chance to eat it due to poor timing by the kitchen/service and the entrees because they just weren't good enough to finish and we barely touched them. I have no clue why I boxed it up, other than hating to waste that much food/money, because I didn't touch the overcooked salmon the next day and threw it straight in the trash. The service was good. Friendly and attentive. The rooftop atmosphere was nice. Maybe I'll try it again for cocktails on the rooftop but I wasn't impressed by the food enough to hurry back. The rooftop atmosphere is nice - although not the views.

Let's start with the food -- wildly inconsistent. I ordered a Cuban that was okay, plenty of meat, but almost no mustard or cheese -- lacked flavor. My brother got a Tuscan chicken he enjoyed, but the portion was small & the asparagus he upgraded to wasn't seasoned. My wife ordered the filet mignon with mashed potatoes -- no complaints. My cousin got a fajita bowl that he was not impressed with. The biggest offender was the drinks. The bar was clearly stingy with their pours. I had two drinks -- no buzz. Lots of ice, almost no mixer, almost no booze -- pitiful. Order beer or wine if you're going to drink here. The cocktails are like collage dive bar quality, but with restaurant pricing. The service was also lacking, we had to solicit refills from the waitress. She seemed to be more interested in socializing with the other staff & cleaning than hustling a tip -- confusing. TLDR: Cool venue, but the drinks suck & food is plainly average in most instances. If you've got an older relative who doesn't like bold flavors this might be the place for you, but avoid like the plague otherwise.

The grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce, chipotle, mayo, and sautéed mushrooms. Delicious also with a substitute of coleslaw versus fries

Great selection of food available, can't imagine somebody not finding some thing that they would like. We also have the grilled brussels sprouts as an appetizer with a honey and maple syrup dip and they came with a generous amount of fresh bacon bits. Servers were very attentive and the place is quite open and inviting. Would highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our lunch here. The restaurant is beautiful. They have an excellent kids meal menu and they have really creative and thoughtful entrees for adults. The stuffed mushroom app was delicious, its not huge and I ate the entire app myself. The salads are good and I am also curious about the heartier dinner entrees like lamb or pork chops but haven't been able to try yet.

We decided to try Swingline in Madeira this past Sunday for brunch / lunch. We had to ask about specialty drinks - yes they have one for fall. They have an apple cider mimosa for the fall. It's served with a cinnamon stick and is good. They have a wide variety menu. Good thing for when you go with hungry people. We decided to try the Garlic and Red Pepper Hummus platter and the sliced filet Mignon for starters. They really enjoyed the filet mignon starter and the sauces it came with, the fresh veggies were good, but the hummus was extremely dry. That will be a pass next time. For lunch we tried the taco salad with tofu - the tofu was prepared well; the club sandwich - it was enjoyed; the steak burger - enjoyed; and the brisket sandwich - the brisket was prepared well. We ordered the specialty dessert - bread pudding with ice cream. That will be a pass next time. The dish was warmer than the bread pudding. They serve it with cut up pieces of bread pudding in a ramen cup (warmed) served with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. For the time it took the dessert should have been warm. They haven't been open that long. (Maybe we'll try the chocolate cake next time since we do live so close.)

6 of us had lunch here on a Friday..Rory our waitress was top-notch and all the food was excellent and at a reasonable cost. Only suggestion would be to allow patrons to make reservations. I asked and they said they don't take them. I asked the hostess what the wait time would be on a Friday evening about 6:00 p.m. and she said it could be 30 to 45 minutes because they are packed about that time. I also heard a couple of other tables asking about reservations also. I believe it might increase business If reservations were available

Swingline...can't wait to spend time on the rooftop.

Do you do private rooms for about 30 people on a Friday evening in October 2024?

We do not have private rooms. We do, however, consider hosting larger parties on a case-by-case basis. The best thing to do would be to send us an email via our website with details so we can consider your request. Thanks for reaching out to us.

Brian we love your restaurant, would you consider getting a water filter?

    Do you take reservations?

Thanks for your inquiry! We do not take reservations, but hope to see you soon. The waits are not usually very long and our rooftop and indoor bars can be a great place to get your evening started!

My husband was saying how much better it will be when we come back in the summer with the huge patio and all the garage doors open. I agreed, but I also think part of the reason we loved it so much was that even though it was a cold, gray February day, inside Parks and Rec had so much greenery and lots of windows so it felt summery inside! Our server was super friendly and went over the menu with us, telling us which items were most popular and which were his favorites. I got the peanut butter porter which was really good and hubby liked his s'mores stout as well. We split one of their huge pretzels which came with whole grain mustard and beer cheese...delish!! Then I got a 1/2 apple and pecan salad, which was more pecans, apples and dried cranberries than salad (and I mean that in the best way!) My husband let me try one of his chicken wings which had a nice spice to it. We were very pleasantly surprised at how great our whole experience was because the reviews were pretty mixed but honestly, it was a great visit from start to finish. Highly recommend!

A simple concept that modern society apparently now considers controversial. On paper, the place should be fantastic: 40+ taps. Strong craft beer lineup. Solid wine selection. Comfortable atmosphere. What nobody mentioned was that the entire experience would be taking place in the middle of what appeared to be a five-year-old's birthday party being hosted with the energy and volume of a regional Monster Truck rally. At one point Margo leaned across the table and quietly asked, "Are we at a gastropub or a Chuck E. Cheese with hazy IPAs?" Fair question. Now let's discuss the pours. The beer menu suggests abundance. The actual pours suggest wartime rationing. Some beers arrived in respectable glasses. Others appeared in containers so small they looked medically prescribed. And before anyone starts explaining ABV to me like I'm new to public dining -- the pour logic made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Certain higher ABV beers came out in normal pours. Others arrived in what I can only describe as a decorative sample size. The explanations felt increasingly philosophical: "That's just how they pour that one." "The brewery prefers it." "It's part of the experience." Interesting. Because my experience was paying full price to feel like I was being punished for ordering craft beer. The food itself was aggressively modern gastropub: beautiful presentation, impressive descriptions, and just barely enough substance to prevent legal classification as a garnish. Meanwhile children sprinted through the dining area at speeds normally associated with indoor training facilities. Again -- the staff was polite. The tap list is legitimately strong. The wine options were good. But the overall atmosphere felt less like "relaxed craft beer establishment" and more like "parents emotionally surrendering while drinking pale ales." Margo spent most of the evening staring into the distance like someone who had just survived minor turbulence. 2.5 stars. One star for the tap selection. One star for the wine list. Half a star because our server looked as exhausted by the situation as we were.

If you haven't been to MPH Brewing in Montgomery, you're either stuck in traffic... or parked…read moresomewhere three blocks away wondering if this place is really worth the walk. Spoiler: it is. The only real complaint here is that the parking situation occasionally resembles a Black Friday doorbuster...,,except instead of discounted TVs, you're fighting for proximity to exceptional beer and people who actually seem glad you showed up. From the moment you walk in, you get hit with something rare these days: genuine, unscripted hospitality. Sierra, the general manager, runs the place with the kind of quiet authority that says, "Yes, we're in control....and yes, you're going to enjoy yourself." She's sharp, composed, and clearly the reason everything hums instead of hiccups. Then there's Maddie...her sister....who is essentially a human champagne cork. Every interaction pops, sparkles, and somehow gets more entertaining the longer you're around her. Watching Sierra and Maddie interact is like seeing discipline and delightful chaos shake hands and decide to run a brewery together. The result? A place that feels both dialed-in and alive. Caroline deserves her own headline. Not just pleasant...precision-level accommodating. The kind of service where you don't have to ask twice, and usually don't even have to ask once. She and Maddie made sure we were completely taken care of out on the porch, including getting a fire going when the temperature dipped into that sneaky "do I need a jacket or not?" zone. That's not service..,.that's anticipation. The food? Legitimately strong. The prosciutto and fig jam pizza hits that perfect balance of sweet, salty, and "why did we not order two of these?" Their salads don't feel like a punishment, and the sandwiches,,..let's just say people aren't exaggerating. You'll see tables guarding them like trade secrets. Now the beer....this is where MPH separates itself from the "nice patio, average product" crowd you find scattered along certain nearby river-adjacent zones. These beers don't just show up,,.they perform. Clean, well-crafted, and across a lineup that feels like a brewmaster who knows exactly what he's doing and isn't guessing. You could drop several of these into a national competition and they wouldn't just participate--they'd make noise. What stands out most is the environment. Relaxed without being lazy, energetic without being chaotic. If the weather cooperates, sitting outside is one of the most enjoyable, almost unfairly pleasant experiences you'll find in Montgomery. There's really nothing else like it in the immediate area, it's not trying to copy anything, and that's exactly why it works. Bottom line: MPH Brewing is what happens when ownership hires well, trains well, and then gets out of the way of good people doing good work. Just plan your parking strategy like you're invading Normandy--or bring comfortable shoes. Either way, you'll leave glad you made the effort.
