Unfortunately, a nasty pandemic ended the brunch buffet, but didn't hurt the quality of the restaurant at all. I finally made my return to Trio Bistro today for an amazing meal. My friend started with calamari, served on a bed of Asian slaw. The rings were tender and tasty, and nicely complemented by the slaw. The soup du jour was shrimp bisque, which I eagerly ordered. I wish it hadn't been completely pureed, because I like bits of shrimp in it, but it was still excellent, tasting of shrimp, cream, and delicate seasonings. Moving on, he had the meatloaf, and we both liked it. I had the day's special of my favorite fish - halibut. It was perfectly seared, sitting in a pool of browned butter sauce and garnished with pine nuts, all accompanied by tasty spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. We each enjoyed a slice of carrot cake for dessert. I definitely don't intend to let 7 years slip by before I return, especially since the specials of the day kept me from trying the Kenwood salad and red wined braised short rib. I almost forgot to say that Wendy gave us flawless service, and showed us an alternative exit that didn't make me return across the rough stone floor with my walker. read more

We had a 12:30 reservation on a Wednesday. The place was packed! Some folks talking among themselves as they walked out said there was a 30 minute wait. Thankfully as mentioned, we had reservations. We arrived first and the person seating us graciously showed me the way to the restroom (it was a bit of a hike). I had no idea there was so much space inside the restaurant. The menu was large and I changed my mind several times before ordering. Everyone at the table got something different with the exception of two that ordered the special of the day. Our server was kind and helpful, but I think she was a bit overwhelmed. We weren't in a hurry so it wasn't an issue. I ordered MARINATED TOFU "POKE" BOWL BROWN SHORT GRAIN RICE, MISO-SOY MARINATED TOFU, CUCUMBER, SNOW PEAS RADISH, SWEET POTATO, ENOKI MUSHROOMS, EDAMAME, SEAWEED SALAD, SESAME SEEDS, SPICY MAYO. Everything was chopped up nicely, which made eating it a breeze. It was a lot of food! It was also very flavorful. The spicy mayo, which wasn't spicy, helped all the ingredients come together. I could have stopped half way because I was approaching fullness, but I powered through and finished it all. And with all that, I did not leave feeling stuffed. Rather, I was pleasantly satisfied. Mark had KENWOOD BIBB & SPINACH, GOAT CHEESE, CRANBERRIES, PINE NUTS, ROMA TOMATO, HONEY POPPYSEED DRESSING and French Onion Soup. He found the salad fresh and the soup was beautiful, loaded with cheese and delicious. Someone ordered 1/2 Sandwich and Soup. She had the Reuben and the 1/2 sandwich was huge! Someone else ordered the Trio Club with broccoli. She enjoyed her meal. The two folks who had the special, four shrimp over eggplant Parmesan, were less than impressed. Service was friendly and attentive. Ambiance is low lighting and soft music (on a Wednesday anyways). There was a bit of an old dishwater smell but it wasn't too bad. I ordered the special which was swordfish in a white sauce. My boyfriend ordered the Mexican flatbread, and my stepdad ordered the salmon. The table bread and butter was also good - warm bread and soft butter! The swordfish was cooked perfectly and tasted great. I enjoyed the sauce and the potatoes also. My stepdad said the same thing about his salmon. My bf and I also enjoyed the flatbread. It was crispy and plenty of chicken chunks. We were also glad the guac and sour cream was served on the side. I received an e-mail advertising a Valentines Day Dinner menu, so my wife & I decided to try Trio on the day after. The first place we were seated was noisy, but the staff was able to move us to a quieter section. I thought my wife would go for the Crab Cakes, but we both got the Grouper with the Kenwood salad. Trio has never disappointed. We went before seeing a show last week. The waiter was very attentive and very formal. We started with the deviled eggs which have a little bit of a kick to them, but not overly spicy. I ordered the French onion soup, which has always been very delicious there. It has a nice balance of broth and onions And very crispy on top. My daughter got the Mediterranean pizza. The ingredients on top made it nice mix of flavors and the cheese was fresh. My other daughter got the crabcake which was placed in a type of reddish sauce. Crabcakes were fairly large and made a decent meal. I wasn't able to try them, but she states they were delicious. This used to be my favorite restaurant, but wondering if the chef changed. The salmon I ordered was glazed to tough to absorb the tasty cream sauce. They laid the salmon on top of small potatoes and spinach so it did not absorb the sauce very well coupled with how it was cooked. Disappointed. However, the house Pinot Noir was fabulous. The waiter asked if we wanted coffee, but did not inquire about desert when we ordered coffee. So we left and went to Cheese cake factory for desert. The space is great for a date night or family outing. They have plenty of large tables for big groups which is nice. The hostess was very nice and gave us a couple of options regarding where we could sit. The server did a good job and the manager made sure the tables were taken care of when the server was very busy (filling my water, grabbing empty plates, etc.). My fiancé got the peach Bellini which was so good! We started out with the BBQ chicken flatbread and goodness it was so good that it has me wanting to try the rest of the pizzas/flatbreads. For entrees, I got the omelet with breakfast which was pretty good, nothing amazing. My fiancé got the eggs Benedict with ham and WOW it was amazing! Definitely the star of the meal. If I could give 0 stars... I would. My boyfriend ordered a medium-rare steak, and what did they serve? A raw, icy-cold slab of meat. We politely asked the manager to have it refired, and somehow, it came back cold AGAIN. Third time's the charm? Nope. They nuked it into oblivion and handed us a hockey puck instead. To make matters worse, the staff had the audacity to gaslight us, insisting that this was somehow what we ordered. The kitchen clearly has no clue how to cook a steak, and management didn't seem to care. If you want to pay for incompetence, frustration, and delusion, this is the spot for you. While passing through town, we went to Trio with a group of friends who are regulars. Our server addressed them by first name and provided amazing service throughout our meal. Trio has a few gluten free items on their menu, and I was able to get the salmon by subbing sweet potato fries / veggies for the quinoa. Both were good, and the ketchup tasted fresh vs bottled. I'm not one to leave negative reviews, but after my experience at Trio in Kenwood, I feel like I need to. Our night started out great! We had good drinks, a good appetizer (meatballs) and overall great experience up until that point. Once our entrees were brought out, I cut into my steak and could see it was obviously undercooked. It took a while for the waitress to come back around, but when she did, she said "does it look a little under?" To which we replied, YES. They took it back and refried it, but upon receiving the steak for the second time, I noticed it was STILL undercooked. The steak was sent back, brought back to the table for a third time and was now noticeably overcooked. I went ahead and ate the overcooked steak as my date was close to finished with her meal and I didn't want to make a scene. The manager came around at the end of our meal and asked about our experience so I showed the picture and he replied with "it looks a little under medium." At that point, I was ready to go.... THREE TIMES I received a filet at an inaccurate temperature to what I ordered. If you go to Trio, I'd recommend staying away from the Filet.... Unless they learn how to cook one properly. read more

Always enjoy my meals here, and the most recent was no exception. Met a girlfriend from Dayton who I hadn't seen in several years, and we pulled a 3 hour lunch. And they didn't even kick us out! We started with a Whipped Ricotta appetizer, and it was a 10 Star experience. Served cold with almonds on top, I can't imagine a better start to a fabulous meal. Girlfriend had Dirty Martinis and I opted for wine. Notice I said Martinis, cause one is never enough for a lunch this long. My girlfriend and I settled on the same entree...a Fried Chicken Salad. We've been going here for years. The food and service is guaranteed to be good. I would have given it 5 stars but the seafood pot pie had very little seafood and the next time we went my son's pizza was not correct. There is something on the menu for everyone. Went to Trios for Christmas Eve. We were disappointed in the service and the food The prime rib was cold, we went back a sangria and was still charged for it even though they took it away. Had to ask for bread and refills several times. We have been there numerous times and it was not what we expect from them. Oh Trio! We must part ways. The last two visits were very underwhelming. This last one was a deal-breaker. First, we are a couple in our 50's and still very much working. So we appreciate snappy service during the lunch hour (we were there at 2pm on a Friday). This was anything but. We waited for the server to get our drink order, even longer for her to come take our food order, and the longest to bring us our check. We overheard that she had been there for 18 years, so maybe she's just used to serving the older clientele who can take a 2 hour lunch. The deviled eggs were VERY mustard forward, so do not order if you don't like mustard. The blackened grouper sandwich had a very small log of grouper that didn't even cover the bun (see photo) and it was $19.00! Everything we ordered needed salt. The meatloaf was a bit overpriced ($19) but was delicious If the slice were double its size and double the vegetables than I'd order it again. Maybe. It has been years since I was hear last, and I really forgot how good this place is. I was in the area and went to dinner with a friend. I ordered the beef (I don't recall the name) basically beef stew and had it done over mashed potatoes. To say that it was good would be the understatement of the year. This was some of the best I have ever had. My friend order the halibut and I even heard him moan while eating. This was new for him or at least I never heard it before. I ordered the banana cream pie which was fabulous, and I normally don't order this. My friend got the carrot cake, which I am pretty sure I heard him moan again. I can't wait to come back and try other items. Also a Monday at 5:45 and the place was packed. We had to sit at the bar. I am not sure if this was normal or not but keep this in mind. Ate here with wife for my birthday lunch today for the first time in several years. It was a beautiful experience. I started with a chopped salad and a bowl of gazpacho soup. OMG--their gazpacho soup is the best I have ever had. It is only on the menu during the warmer months. The chopped salad was as perfect as a salad could be. For a main course I chose the tuna salad sandwich on 16 Bricks bread. Plus a side order of haricot verts. We had some bread also. Had to take part of the sandwich and green beans home. The server Bradley offered me a complimentary dessert for my birthday which was a nice gesture. I chose the strawberry shortcake which we both really enjoyed. Service was friendly and attentive throughout. This place has a great ambiance and is quiet enough to have some good conversation with friends.
