This was my first time eating inside the establishment but not my first time trying - my old company used to have them catered every year for Christmas ... therefore I was craving the short rib so I headed to the restuaraunt to try since I don't work for the company anymore. The service was okay - the waitress was nice enough but not very attentive. The place has old school early 2000's vibes but is a tad pricey. I got the french onion soup which wasn't anything like a previous review described - it had an even amount of onions, bread and cheese but not much flavor otherwise. Honestly, pretty disappointed with our experience at Nick and Tom's. The food was underwhelming at best -- I can get a better house salad at Panera, which is saying something. Unfortunately, my father ended up feeling sick the day after eating here, which really put a damper on the whole visit. Service didn't help either. The waiter was friendly enough but kept forgetting things we asked for, and the wait time was surprisingly long considering it was literally just my family and two other tables in the restaurant. I took my cousin there for her Birthday and I ordered Mushrooms, a beer and onion soup. She ordered a salad. With tip it was a tad over $50.00. The onion soup had a thick slice of bread and very little broth and onions .$8.00! I get the soup for broth onions and cheese. It was very disappointing. I came here on a Saturday for lunch and it was pretty empty. We ordered the Barbara salad, Biehl Streer brussel sprouts, and sweet potato waffle fries. The salad was good. The fries were a little too overcooked and the dip it came with wasn't really a dipping sauce. It was cold and too thick to dip cinnamon butter. Most places have this as a glaze texture and a lot easier to dip. The sprouts were cooked in a balsamic dressing with goat cheese, pecans, and bacon. Unfortunately they used bacon bits instead of real bacon so the saltiness and weird flavor of the bits took over the dish. A few adjustments and these would be good dishes. last time I had lunch there it was terrible! my sister and I each ordered the brussell sprouts as a side with our sandwiches. my sister doesn't't eat bacon so I said "put her bacon on my sprouts" well they dumped the bacon AND all the grease on my brussell sprouts! they were inedible. my sandwich was a spicy beef sandwich,. it came partially grilled ..the part not grilled was white bread soaked in what looked like movie popcorn butter...AWFUL! ..and it was just the meat on the bread...nothing else...I won't be back anytime soon and it's a shame cause it was always one of our favs. read more

First trip here and I will be back. I was greeted and sat quickly. Since it was my first time here my waitress Ashley was patient enough to explain menu items to me and suggested some of her favorites. I was in the mood for a sandwich so I ordered the chicken sandwich she suggested and was not disappointed. It was hot, fresh, delicious and loaded with cheese and bacon yum. As Nick & Tom's website indicates, they have been a west side tradition since 1988. I have eaten there numerous times over the years as it is one of the closest restaurants to my in-laws' house. They often are packed solid on weekend evenings, including my most recent visit with my wife. We took a few minutes without the kids to have a quieter dinner date while the kids played with their grandparents. Surprisingly we found a wait for a table on a random Saturday in January. But we were able to find a table in the bar by the time we ordered a drink at the bar. My wife and I shared the Biehl Street Sprouts ($10) with crispy Brussels sprouts, bacon, pecans, and goat cheese. These were delicious and I highly recommend them! The Brussels sprouts alone would have been good but add in the smoky bacon with the sweeter pecans and goat cheese and these should not be skipped! For dinner, I had the Mediterranean Pasta with chicken ($13.50). This combination of feta, sun-dried tomatoes, black olives, pepperoncini, basil, oregano, and garlic on vermicelli pasta is a Cincinnati Magazine Silver Spoon Award winner. Though the award seems to be from 10 years ago, the flavors are still a pretty good combination. The addition of a well-seasoned chicken breast was a good choice and I wouldn't recommend having the pasta without it. Overall Nick & Tom's is a solid restaurant, made even better by the lack of other good choices in the immediate area. We will definitely be back. read more

Ok, ok... gave N&T another try to vindicate the sweet potato fry experience and they delivered! Switched from string/traditional fry presentation to a waffle orientation. Got a full plate full as my side and they were good and plentiful. Also had the special scallops and clam chowder soup. Both were very good as well. Oh where to start! There food is excellent, never once have they missed with any of the food selection I have tried. I have been there multiple times it has been my mission to go do the menu since everthing I have tried has been crazy good. Never have I received bad service, never have I received bad food, overall its a great place and a must do. I always recommend the stuffed mushroom (my opinion the best starting appetizer) and also I believe it's seasonal but the caramel butter cake is a great ending dessert! This was my first time at the restaurant. I came here with friends from community theater before we had auditions for an upcoming musical. When I first arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. It's cozy. A much older crowd was seated. When I glanced over the menu, I saw the prices. The prices are high (I'd never been here before, so didn't know what to expect). I flipped the menu over and found a burger and brisket grilled cheese that were more reasonably priced. I think the price was a bit high for what you get, but the food was good. I ordered my food, the brisket grilled cheese, and a Moscow Mule. The waiter was very attentive and brought the drink out very quickly. The drink was served in a glass instead of copper, but that's okay to me. He also brought out bread. The bread was good, but a bit cold/room temperature. When my meal finally arrived, I was impressed with the taste. It wasn't hot, but not cold. I'd never had this type of sandwich before, but will definitely order it again. The fries were crispy and ketchup was automatically provided so I didn't have to ask. Overall, I was happy with the service and the food. The pricing is a little high for what you get, but this is a nicer restaurant than say Applebee's. I paid $24 for my sandwich, drink (only the one Moscow Mule and water), plus 25% tip. read more

I came to Nick & Tom's for my mom's 60th birthday. It was a good time. I was on a bit of a strict diet, so there weren't many options for me. I was pleased with what I got, though. The chicken on top of my chicken club salad was very good. The rest of it was just a basic salad. The chili was decent but not mind blowing. It's Cincinnati style if you get the beef chili, FYI. What everyone else ordered looked delicious but was not on my plan. I did try my sister's side of brussel sprouts, and they were good but not very crispy like the were described on the menu. This place is absolutely fantastic. I had the Caribbean shrimp salad, and the black bean soup for lunch. Shrimp is plump, and has a great bite almost like lobster. The cilantro avocado dressing was fantastic, and the spices on the shrimp were delicious. The black bean soup was excellent as well. Beyond the food, the staff was extremely friendly, and quick. My husband and I ate dinner at this restaurant last night. I was in the mood for steak and surprising to me, our two regular steakhouses were booked solid on a Thursday night! This restaurant is close to our house and had open tables so we rushed over. We have been to this restaurant many times in the past and it is a good solid choice for a delicious meal. I started my experience with a gin martini that was full to the rim and had floating ice crystals which I really enjoy. As an appetizer we ordered the cream cheese stuffed mushrooms which are a wonderful favorite ,full of flavor. My main course was the filet mignon. I asked for it rare and our server Brett suggested Pittsburgh style which is exactly as I like it, very rare and almost just seared on the outside. Brett was a terrific server, friendly, attentive, and always checking to make sure that we were happy. My steak was really delicious and a very generous size. My husband had a hamburger smothered in cheese which he said was equally delicious. I am sure that we will be returning in the future now that I know they also serve terrific steaks along with many varied dishes to suit everyone's palette. read more

If I could give a zero rating, I would! We went to Nick & Tom's on Bridgetown Road tonight. Service was HORRIBLE! Food wasn't totally bad. But, we got the "crispy Brussel sprouts". They were crispy alright because they were black and burnt. When our food came, we asked for some butter. Waitress said okay. We waited and waited and waited. She flew by us one time and I reminded here of needing butter. She snapped at me, "he (my husband) just asked me for it, I'm going to get it!" She walked by a few more times, no butter. I mean for God's sake we wanted the butter for our damn food! This place is ridiculous. First time we ever tried it. Had a couple friends tell us how good it is. Took the wife, nephew and one of his friends with me to dinner last night. Walked in was seated quickly. We ordered our food, I ordered the New York strip. It was fine. The kids ordered mahi-mahi tacos. We asked for the cilantro guacamole and Caribbean sauce be put on the side. It wasn't waitress wanted to argue they left Caribbean sauce off it when it was the base under the cabbage, guacamole was covered the top. We scraped it off with a fork for one kid. The other ate it and enjoyed it. The wife asked if the pork chops had bones in them and was told no. So she ordered as she doesn't eat meat on the bone. Pork chop arrived at the table bone in. So she didn't really enjoy hers, the kids was 50/50 one liked it the other hated it. Mine was fine, the food itself was good. Asked the wife if she'd go back? She said yes, just hoping it was a bad/off night for the service received. I'm hoping after a follow up I can leave a better review. read more

I have had two nearly identical experiences. On a cold rainy afternoon, I sat at the bar. After a wait I ordered a drink and the French Onion soup. The soup was delivered and was not hot. The bartender had disappeared, and I was terribly hungry. After waiting 10 minutes I ate the soup cold and if it had been hot, it would have been delicious. On another day my husband and I sat at the bar at about 1:30pm. After the obligatory 10 minute plus wait, we ordered. Again, when our food was delivered the server disappeared. My buffalo chicken tenders were excellent & husbands' soup had been hot, but his sandwich was dry. If he had the option to request a side of mayo, I wouldn't be writing this review. Another couple arrived and after waiting for service left while we were there. They passed the bartender on their way out and she said to us, "I didn't think they were waiting that long." I'll go here again but maybe avoid the late afternoon or the bar, which saddens me as I like to sit at the bar. read more

I say NO on my recommendation because of the manager that was on duty today. She had a horrible attitude from the second she came to our table. We were trying to enjoy our thanksgiving dinner with our family. The waitress admitted that she had previously screwed up an order when she took ours. When they brought out the food 2 orders were completely wrong. By the time the 2 of us received our meals every one else was done eating. When the waitress brought the tickets I asked about seeing the manager because I didn't feel I should pay for the complete meal. When I spoke to the manager she said, "You ate the food didn't you". Only half because the veggies were swimming in oil. The other person didn't even eat his vegetables. I didn't tell the manager that, although I should have. I was completely taken back with the managers remarks. So were the other 5 at the table. Again the manager said, "but you ate the food". I told her, I didn't screw up the order, that was completely the waitress. She came back with just one gift card and nothing for the other person's who meal was also messed up. The tickets were also screwed up. After 4 times and one person's ticket still wasn't correct. Asked the waitress again what about the other person's meal that was wrong. Manager came back to the table with a hateful attitude. Basically almost throwing us each a gift card. Why would I want to go back after today's experience. read more
