We were surprised at how great the food and service was. As soon as you walk in, they open the door for you. And when you leave they hold the door for you. Very nice touch. We sat at the bar and the service was outstanding. Anybody we had contact with was really nice. Their short rib ravioli was incredible. The cauliflower purée had such a perfect taste, and then adding the edamame, the crumble, the micro greens, the truffle, it was all incredible. We could've eaten more of that for sure. The other thing we completely enjoyed was the lobster and shrimp papparadelle. What amazing flavors! Of the things we ordered those were our two favorites. Oh my gosh, I almost left out the donut holes. Also fantastic. read more

Tucked away with a simple sign is one of the best restaurants I've eaten at. The aesthetics are modern & comfy. The food was delicious. The service needs improvement. We were tucked in a corner & essentially forgotten about. Our waiter was very apologetic & the restaurant did get busy but it's why I'm not giving this establishment 5. read more

My server Stevie was excellent - I ended up here after my reservation to Alara was cancelled - This was an okay substitute. I got the lavender lemonade mocktail which was delicious and refreshing without being too floral or soapy. For dinner I got the braised short rib which was so tender you could cut it with a fork. The bone marrow demi glaze I could have a bowl of that stuff is phenomenal. The broccolini was roasted perfectly but I felt the potatoes could've used more seasoning. My mother got the lemon chicken pasta, which was good at the time, but when she got home it did not sit well with her. All in all, I would come back for the short rib, and I hope Alara finds a new location soon. The inside is nice and romantic seating, but it is cold ... like bring a jacket and it seems it doesn't matter the season it is colder inside because I saw a google review that also mentioned the temperature of the dining room. read more

My son found Emery for a family dinner with my daughter who was visiting. Surprised I never heard of it before. The service was very good. I had the crusted Halibut which was awesome. The House salad was one of the best house salad's that I ever had. The calamari was very light on quantity. Given that it was almost $20; was not worth it. Wine bottles are reasonable priced. My son tried a newer clam pasta dish and was very disappointed in the lack of flavor. My wife had the shrimp, crab and lobster roll and like it. My daughter had the same as me and liked it. They gave my daughter a dessert for her upcoming wedding (Chocolate Creme Brulee). It was very good. . read more

We came here to celebrate and were disappointed because they didn't even mention it. The service was alright, once our food was dropped off it took awhile for him to come back. The best part of the meal was the appetizers. The focaccia felt like it was drenched in olive oil though. I ordered the shrimp lemon pasta and it didn't have any flavor at all. The noodles were over cooked and the pasta had no sauce. It tasted like plain pasta. The trout was a bit salty but cooked well. Over all I feel like we paid a lot for just ok food. read more

Oh. My. Gosh. SO so good. We started with the lavender lemonade mocktail -- which I absolutely added tequila to -- and it was smooth, refreshing, and dangerously delicious. 10/10 would order again exactly the same way. For appetizers, we got the whipped feta. Delicious, creamy, and perfect for sharing -- but fair warning: avoid the peppers if you're not into a little kick. They sneak up on you! My friend and I split the house salad and WOW. A complete showstopper. So fresh, the vinaigrette was bright and delightful, and those fresh bacon bits? Chef's kiss. It's rare that a house salad stands out like that, but this one absolutely did. Now let's talk about the prime rib. I typically do not like steak or prime rib... but our waitress recommended it as the best thing on the menu, and honestly the Yelp photos had already convinced me. When I tell you it was BOMB -- I mean it. So tender. So flavorful. Perfectly cooked. Paired with broccolini and mashed potatoes, it was a whole experience. To end the night, we shared the apple tart with cinnamon ice cream -- warm, sweet, comforting, and the perfect finish to an already amazing meal. Overall, this was a fantastic dining experience from start to finish. Great service, incredible food, and such a vibe. I cannot wait to come back. read more

Been going since they opened. Food is good. Napa Chic vibe. However, in my dining throughout the world for the past 50+ years, I've never been told there is no coffee - tells me they didn't want to make any since the business was light. Disappointing. Service is their weak point. Lackadaisical. read more

Loved the location, menu and wait staff! Very accommodating & friendly service staff. Our party ordered the wedge salad plain ( asked for only lettuce, tomatoes & dressing on the side) emery house salad which was fresh & very tasty, emery clam chowder ( large portion & seasoned well), twin fillets by two at our table & both were enjoyed & the filets were very tender. Finally tried the chicken breast roulade which was delicious- sufficient amount of each ingredient & cooked to perfection. We visited during the week so not very crowded. Loved having time to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. Two floors & lots of tables & booths to accommodate varying party sizes. Love that they have a seasonal menu. Too full to try the desserts but perhaps will try on our next visit. read more

Stopped in on a Friday for a quick drink and appetizer. We showed up around 5:15 and were the first ones there, but it filled up pretty quickly. Happy hour on drinks only, specialty cocktails were $11. We had the rum punch and old fashioned, both were well balanced and tasty. But the real star was the pork belly bao buns. They were fantastic! The buns were steamed to perfection, light and fluffy. The pork belly was tender and all the flavors complimented each other well. We will definitely be back to have a full meal! read more

Where do I begin? Do I begin with the wrong drink, or not getting the food prepared as we asked, or the wrong checks being brought three times? It would be hard to find anything that wasn't wrong with this experience. Oh, I'm sorry, the french fries were good. I can't imagine that this restaurant will be open a year from now. A most unpleasant experience! read more

The service was impeccable no much of a wait and was able to adjust and provide knowledge over allergies and dietary restrictions. (Vegan and gluten free options) The food was good (would definitely recommend the crab cake...) Downstairs had a clear window you could see the kitchen work on the food. (I would avoid sitting by a window it had a breeze) As for the price maybe a little more than it should but for the display and working with allergens it seemed like a wash. read more

Richard was our server and he was amazing. Very knowledgeable about the menu and conscientious of the food allergies of 2 in our party (corn allergy and gluten allergy). I'd go back just for him. My in-laws (with the allergies) were blown away by the variety of food available to them, a rarity. My father in law got the fish sandwich (a haddock) and said it was one of the best he ever had. My MIL got the filet. The clam chowder was thick and creamy - hard to believe it was gluten free. My husband got the lobster shrimp BLT and loved it - such a unique dish. The whipped feta is an absolute must order. Not a spot of it remained. I have been twice and both times I got different things and both times I have thought my main entrees were good, not great. However, I tend to like a lot of seasoning. If it were based on just my tastes, I'd say 4 stars. However, both times I've gone I've been in the minority, the service (again, Richard ) has been great, the ambiance lovely, it bumps it to 5. read more

I'm surprised that I hadn't tried Emery before today. My wife and I met some friends here for dinner on a weeknight and had a great experience. It's located in a Mariemont, right next to the Mariemont theatre. There's some street parking nearby as well as a large off street parking lot. Inside is two floors, with a clean, chic decor. Our server was great, never hovering but checking in often. Everything on the menu looked good to us, and we settled on the calamari, short rib ravioli and whipped feta. Whipped feta with the bread was just perfect. The short rib ravioli was very flavorful, and I would probably order an entree of it if I could. The calamari was crispy, and not tough in the slightest. Honestly, every appetizer was great. I want to come back so I can try the beet & mushroom tartare and crab cake. For entrees, I had the crab crusted lake Erie walleye, which was above average for what it is. My wife had the braised short rib, which was tender and also a good choice. Generous portions. The entrees were above average, but the starters really impressed us. read more

Came to Emery to celebrate a friend's retirement. We had decided on seafood and when I saw the photos of Emery, I knew this is the place. We missed the building because the trees outside hid the sign. The inside looks much bigger than the outside. I think there's an upstairs dining area. We were seated by the windows looking out into the patio. We started the meal with a cocktail. The elderflower and pear cocktail was wonderful! For appetizers we had the crispy pork belly buns and calamari. The buns were recommended by the wait person. The calamari was our choice. We were hesitant about that because although the dish is simple, most places will have it wrong. The batter will be too thick and all you taste is the batter and not the calamari. Emery got this right. The batter was very light and the flavor of the calamari still comes through. Two of us tried the clam chowder. Thinking that it is the usual white creamy type, we were pleasantly surprised by a bowl of light creamy soup filled with clam meat and bacon bits. It was the best clam chowder we have had. Definitely a must get dish. For entrees, we had the be recommended walleye, the chicken and the the pasta dishes. Every dish was fantastic. The walleye taste bland and plain on it's own but with the crab meat on it and the sauce, it was tasty. The chicken and mushroom is so good. I tasted a piece and love the mushroom with the tender chicken. One person in our group who seldom finish a pasta dish finished the whole dish. That's how good it was. Highly recommend Emery if you are celebrating a special event. read more

My husband, baby, and I came here for an early birthday celebration for me. Reservations were made online and were pretty easy. So I'm actually rating our experience 3.5 stars. So our overall experience was good but nothing amazing. The ambiance of the restaurant is really nice, definitely kind of my vibe and style which I really love. Our server was good but nothing amazing. She was a little bit awkward while my husband was finishing up the last piece of bread of the appetizer, she kind of just stood there waiting for him to scoop everything so she can take the plate. So he felt kind of rushed because she was literally standing at our table waiting. Anywho here is our review of the food. Whipped feta appetizer. This is probably my favorite dish out of all three things we've ordered. The whip feta had a lot of flavor and paired well with the fig jam and peppers, I could probably eat an additional order of this. Highly recommended. Braised short rib. This was pretty good but I felt that it needed a little bit more of the red wine demi-glaze because by the time I got halfway through the short rib it became a bit dry. The broccolini was a bit tough to cut through with a knife given to me so I didn't really finish that. Blackened ruby red trout. My husband ordered this and he said that it was okay and the fresh lemon curd could have been more flavorful - he said it was a bit too subtle for him. He added some salt and it was a little bit better. So overall it was a good experience but again like I said it wasn't anything amazing. But honestly I would come back here just because of the ambiance itself. Perhaps during a happy hour would be really good. read more

When you've spent almost three decades living within the official borders of cities--Atlanta, New Orleans, and Cincinnati, in my case--you might develop skepticism about the bonafides of fine-dining restaurants out in the burbs. No doubt there are good ones outside of city limits, but on the whole they don't measure up to what you find in the urban core: they often seem too conventional or even old-hat, or don't have the kitchen chops, or both. Emery is one of those exceptions to the suburban also-rans. Its most noteworthy aspect is its focus on seafood, especially fish. On both of our visits--one in summer, one in winter--the menus had *four* fish entrees, and once a fifth fish special. Handling that much fish means Emery knows what it's doing with the product and likely keeping it fresh. Between the wife and me, the wife and I have had four fish dishes--ruby red trout, two different salmon preps, and a branzino. All have been quite good at worst--the salmon was slightly overcooked in our estimation both times, but still totally enjoyable--and the trout and branzino were delicious and well-executed. And by 2022-23 standards, the price points for these dishes were quite reasonable given the portions and quality. Appetizers have mostly been satisfying, too, especially the beet and mushroom "tartare" and the short-rib ravioli. (There some great smoked-trout ravioli with the trout dish as well.) A few problems: One app was a sad dud: The pork belly buns didn't work at all because the pork belly itself had no crispness and little flavor, which combined with the soft white buns for mushy blandness. And a Peach Old Fashioned didn't have much complexity and came off as quite pallid. We lucked out back in August on a mild evening on the outside patio, which was lovely, but indoors in February was borderline earsplitting as the place filled up. I'm not a huge fan of the decor, which is somewhat reminiscent of a slapdash clubby TV restaurant reality show re-do, if not as bad as that. It's nice enough. We'll be back, because Emery does far more things right than wrong, read more

Last night, while dining, three women staff were standing opposite the door. Chatting, nothing more. One had very long curly hair which she tied back , undid and tied back again and again, within plain view of our table. Watching someone play with their pony tail hair, with their back to our table, was distracting and unappetizing. Watching someone playing with their hair in a busy dining room was borderline disgusting. I'm not sure I'll return. Just had to share. (And my mahi-mahi was dry and overdone.) read more

I made dinner reservations at Emery for my husband's 40th birthday. We were escorted into a small dining area (I believe there may be another floor) & began looking over the menu. If I'm being 100% honest, there isn't a thing on that menu that didn't sound delicious. I had an elderberry & pear cocktail (I originally ordered the lemon meringue, but they had run out of an ingredient). It was so good I had two My husband had the mid-priced Cabernet & truly enjoyed it. We ordered two appetizers & decided to forego the salad. We started with 1) whipped feta with fig jam, toasted almonds and pickled peppers served with sourdough crostini & 2) crispy pork belly buns with garlic aioli and a vinaigrette on the little salad, served with a pepper and ginger soy pearls. #1 was so creamy & crunchy & had a little heat with a little sweet - very good. #2 was also a hit - our favorite pork buns we have ever had by far. For my entree, I enjoyed the lobster & shrimp pot pie. Lobster tail on top of a puff pastry on top of a rich amazing filling with tons of lobster, shrimp, & veggies inside. It felt like eating a hug. The most comforting comfort food I have ever had. My husband had the pan seared mahi mahi with a butternut squash purée, roasted Brussel sprouts, lobster and an apple fennel salad. His only complaint was the apple fennel salad was so good he could have used just a tad more to have some with every bite. It was absolutely delicious. I tried a bite & it was another winner in my book. For dessert we had the chocolate genoise cake - toasted almonds and a caramel sauce with brown sugar banana flavored ice cream. The cake had a bitterness to it that the banana & brown sugar made sweet with a burst of flavor. The service was also fabulous. Our server was very knowledgeable about every item on the menu & was able to answer all of our questions & give great recommendations. My only complaint was that my husband's 40th birthday was not acknowledged with the exception of someone wishing him a happy birthday upon entry. read more

Very disappointing service overshadowed good food! We made a New Year's Eve reservation with friends as we had heard great things about Emery. I was looking forward to trying it being from the area and never having been there before. The restaurant was busy but nothing too crazy. We were seated quickly and our waiter came over within a few minutes to say hello and get our drink order. 10-15 minutes later another waiter finally brought our drinks from the bar. A few minutes later our waiter stopped back by and asked about ordering appetizers and said he would be back to go over the specials shortly, 10 minutes later he came back to go over specials and took our main course order. I ordered the beet & burrata salad and the shot rib based on his recommendation, and my wife the pasta limone with shrimp. A bit later our salads and appetizers came out, my salad and wife's whipped feta appetizer were delicious. Maybe 10-15 minutes later our main courses were brought out, everything looked great and everyone enjoyed their meals. Here is where things went from good to awful. After our mains were brought out our waiter stopped by once to check on us and not again for at least 30 minutes. We finished dinner and waited and waited, finally my friend went to the bar and asked about getting our checks. Our waiter could be seen waiting on other tables and taking dishes but seemed to be ignoring us. My friend went to the bar a second time to asked about our waiter, then my brother went up to ask about getting our checks a third time. All the while our waiter could be seen doing other things. Finally 45 minutes after our main courses came out he came over to try and figure out the bill. He offered a weak apology for his inattentiveness We were there for almost 2-1/2 hours by the time we payed our bill. I am a pretty patient person but this experience had my blood boiling. I will again mention the food was very good but the poor service overshadowed the food. I'm not sure we will be visiting again. read more

We visited Emery on a Saturday night on the recommendation of a friend that lives in Mariemont. If you decide to go, take a quick look at Google and map to the parking lot behind the restaurant (see picture). Street parking is limited. Emery is in the center of beautiful and charming Mariemont, with a completely modern and inviting interior. We walked into the restaurant and were warmly welcomed and taken to our table upstairs. We made reservations online. The upstairs dining area was a great place to talk and enjoy the evening. Our waiter was very energetic and accommodating. We ordered drinks and wine. After ordering I found out that my choice, Weller Antique 107, was out. Sad for me, but the others really enjoyed their cocktails and wine. They all mentioned how good the wine was, Italian Amarone, a couple of times. For appetizers we had the Short Rib Ravioli, Whipped Feta, and House salad. Although I didn't try it, one of my group said the Ravioli was exceptionally good. For main course we leaned into the seafood, which is the forward facing menu items of Emery. We had the Trout, Mahi Mahi, and Walleye. I would say your impression of the seafood will be based on your preference on dish design. I personally like seafood to be the hero of the dish, but these meals were seafood with some other dominant flavor or sauce on top, like shrimp or crab. More about me...I don't like BBQ sauce on my Brisket or Pulled Pork and don't like sauce on my steaks. With the best preparation they stand on their own. Ok, back to Emery. The additions to the fish were tasty, if not dominant. Two of us ordered Mahi Mahi and both were overcooked, and the squash puree was was closer to squash creme it was so thin and milky. Our wife's Trout and Walleye were cooked well and my wife loved the lemon curd sauce. Overall we had a great evening at Emery. The ambience and staff were fantastic. read more

Excellent choice for a great meal. We definitely overindulged with appetizers-dessert, but it was so worth it. If you are a fish eater you will not go wrong with the salmon. My choice was the blackened salmon salad while my husband opted for the Sixty South Salmon and neither was anything short of fabulous, Not normally a dessert eater, but the peach tart could change that. We had another awesome experience here last week. They were pretty booked up and on a 2 hr wait on a Friday or Saturday night. We opted to sit at the upstairs bar. For the entree, we shared their roasted cauliflowers steak and braised short ribs. The peach tart dessert was delicious as well. Was only disappointed in the short ribs. Booked on OpenTable because well why not make sure you have a table anywhere vs risking a long wait ‍ My friend and I were only 20 mins away when we booked for a table that would have been for 30 mins so we would be fine with the ten min wait. I got a text when we were about 10 mins away saying our table was ready. When we got there there were people waiting for tables so I was a little worried but when we walked up to check in we were immediately taken to our table so that was on point! It's very stylistic and nicely decorated with a simple approach on classy. Small table for two with the large plates I would def recommend either spacing out your app/entree/desserts because otherwise you'll have no room! But that was my only concern with the atmosphere! Our server Amanda was not only very social and friendly but she was able to read the conversation and our mood perfectly! We never went without a recommendation or a refill! For food we had the whipped feta, lump crap cake, and the pork belly rolls which literally not only looked beautifully played but my tastes buds were screaming THIS IS AMAZING!!! Every aspect from the sauces to the minor seasonings was on point for each of these dishes. For the entrees my friend had the lobster pot pie which she said was good and filling but she probably wouldn't order it again because it just wasn't her cup of tea. I got the crab crusted Lake Erie walleye which unfortunately missed the mark for me. Looked great and it didn't taste bad but it was bland. The server was excellent she noticed immediately that it was missing the mark and asked me if I would like to replace it even if i got something to go and she would take it off our bill. The service man wonderful! I took her recommendation and got the blackened ruby red trout to go(which I'm only just eating tonight so it was 24 hours leftover- AMAZING. the ravioli that goes with it, the sauce, all of it hit the mark just like the apps). The owner came over and he even said it was bland but it is a favorite of some regulars they have and that's why it's on the menu I'm glad they appreciate their regulars on that aspect. They actually took off both the walleye and didn't charge us for the replacement either! It was very considerate! Unfortunately the card machine went down so my friend thankfully had cash to pay but I wish we could've used card because I wanted to leave a much bigger tip for our server than the 20% that we were able to. She literally deserved like 50% no joke some of the best service than I've even had at Boca or Ruby's. They're accepting that they're not perfect on all fronts but are more than willing make sure you leave happy! Oh and the lemonade was freshhhh and I'm a weirdo picky person on my lemonade. 10/10 will definitely be coming back. If anything- for those apps because I can't wait to try the other ones! read more
