This is authentic and better than being in Maine. I'm so glad to live near this and the lobster bisque needs to be a daily thing

The extra star or two has always been for the great customer service - because that's important too. And the service is still good. Although - they get way too busy for the staff that they have. And while last night we did see a few new staff members - they were not servers or food runners. The service is always fairly quick and is always very friendly and welcoming. But it can't overcome the food. Again - this has always been very mediocre food. But the dining options in Brown County and Clermont County are nowhere near what we had in Hamilton County or can find in Butler and Warren County. The last few times we ate here the food has been inedible. So bad that I've let the entire meal sitting. My meal was so overcooked, gooey and cold a couple of weeks ago that it was nasty. Last night the fish was so overcooked that pieces were impossible to chew. But at least this time it made it to the table while it was still hot. And my husband's bean burrito he ordered last night looked like dog food. The taste was worse than it looked. After taking a few bites my husband said, "I think we're done with this place."

We stopped by after a visit to the Newtown Candy shop. We took some lobster roll kits and clam chowder home. They pride themselves on fresh seafood regularly flown in from around the world. Their pricing is double Jungle Jims and triple kroger. Can't say good or bad until we try the fresh fish. For example they have many types of Salmon from around the globe. $49.99 for Sea Bass is pricey for me. I think Halibut was $39.99 a pound and the salmon was $20-$30 a pound. They also make their own sides. The clam chowder had too many potatoes. On Friday and Saturday nights they cook a few meals out back in a small tent/room. Main items are Lobster Rolls and Fish n chips.

In fact, I was so taken by the owner sharing the history of Lobsta Bakes and all of the items that are made onsite, that I completely forgot to take photos with one exception: the menu! They have a small space to serve dinner on weekends with a menu that changes often. From fresh fish to chowder, crab cakes, Lobster rolls, sauces, pies, and much more, this is a place you have to visit! I bought some clam chowder, lobster roll kits, crab cakes and lobster quiche- all were fantastic!

Not to mention the fact that you HAVE TO HAVE A RESERVATION, was mind boggling for the place. Like the server was very nice and all, that is a plus. Though sadly the food, we had the gumbo and etu fay, it was honestly pretty sad. Like it's up there with the top 5 most sad restaurants I've ever eaten at. The food was pretty bland, and lacked any form of spice. Not to mention it was hard to tell what was actually in it, like a lot of the ingredients tasted over cooked. So yeah it's going to be a no for me.

The wicker chairs in the section to the left of the bar as you face the bar were unusually deep and low. Over time I think we all adjusted, but sitting in them definitely felt unusual. There are other chairs throughout the restaurant. I recommend finding a table with different chairs. Our waiter was knowledgeable and very efficient. We hadn't checked on the website, but found out Thursday is oyster day, with $1 oysters and fried oysters and $1.50 for Oyster Bienville. The fried oysters were delicious. The raw oysters were good, though I had one that was gritty. We are going again in two weeks and will try the Oyster Bienville along with other assorted oysters. Two of us had the special Pan Seared Sea Bass. It came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The crisp on the top was delicious and the fish itself was delicate and moist. It did indeed melt in my mouth. The potatoes were very good, though I didn't finish all of them. The greens were good. Mark had a ribeye and is still raving about it today. He ordered the preparation version made with just salt and pepper. He also had a cup of gumbo. He said it had an amazing depth of flavor. We wrapped up with dessert. Three folks had Key Lime Pie. I opted for Karma's Opera Crème Cake. Oh my goodness, it was huge, sweet and delicious. I tried a bit of key lime and it just didn't compare. That said, those who had the Key Lime Pie loved it. Not only would we return, but we have the date already scheduled. I'm looking forward to trying something different.

Tony's special was enjoyed by another diner. Not one negative was mentioned at the table. The ambiance or lack there of was not a real concern, the pictures and posters were interesting enough. If they could put the lights on dimmers it would certainly help. Food and service were excellent and the atmosphere, strip mall Italian modern hahaha. I definitely recommend and we will return... The Shrimp PoBoy bruschetta was very flavorful. My lobster dip was nice and creamy and work well on the sliced crostini bread. We all had the Blackened salmon with rice & beans. The salmon was perfectly cooked and very flavorful with just enough blackened seasoning to enhance the flavor. Food presentation was perfect, everything was plated nicely They have a great selection of bourbon. We chose ours after just three selections but they had many more. The owner came by our table and introduced herself, something you rarely see nowadays The cost was reasonable, and we have added this to our list of top restaurant selections in Newport, Kentucky.
