My review is about a month late because I forgot about yelp & google wasn't working but this place is a must! My daughter's name is Ember & after a little running around kenwood mall we pull out & notice their sign. Had no clue what to expect, got there right at open, & were seated in the bar area because we were absolutely not dressed for the dining room. I'm grateful they found us a spot though! Maggie (I think that was her name. It's been a while) was wonderful! Took amazing care of us! Started with crab cakes that were so flavorful & on this really delicious corn succotash. Then the sushi was unexpected delicious. Ours had steak and we ate the whole thing. We also got some brussel sprouts & fries (since I wasn't sure how my kid would react to the Brussels). Get the brussel sprouts! Kiddo ate them over the fries & I was shook. I have to bring my chef partner up with me so he can try to recreate them. They were incredible! Maggie then surprised my daughter with their signature dessert of elevated fried Oreos because of her name. It was so kind & soo so good. I think it was a raspberry sauce on the plate that was next level. I live in Lexington just a lil while down the road & needless to say I have been telling everyone about our experience. Celebrated our anniversary here and it was a great experience. Our first time at Embers. The service and welcome we received was outstanding- Lauren, our server, was fabulous - the right of attentiveness without being overwhelming or intrusive The house special sushi with lobster was delicious. We enjoyed our entrees but I found the blue cheese topping too strong and scrapes of off my steak. Lauren noticed and took the extra price for the topping off of our bill. Alright food, great service is what I thought. The servers are super attentive and nice. We had Crystal who was amazing! I do love some bread and butter and theirs was nice to start off with. We got the crab cakes and sushi for an appetizer. The crab cakes were seared nicely although we did wish there was bit more crab in them, the gremolata under was delicious. The sushi was pretty good and did taste fresh. We got the NY strip and Filet as our entrees with mac and cheese and french fries for the sides. The filet was cooked perfectly and was juicy with every bite. The NY on the other hand was very tough and hard to chew. It was not tender and had no flavor. We were suprised by this. The fries with the aioli were great and the mac and cheese was perfectly creamy. Over all we wished a few of the dishes were better but thought they could be fixed. We had Asian ribs, their green goddess salad, I got a half order of everything, so kind of a pick 2, and also we got a wedge salad, full of goodies!! Scallops,burger, everything was very good. Sushi with the boss tonight. They recommend this place for great sushi. We ordered five of their specialty rolls. And I also got a seaweed salad. The atmosphere and service were good. It was restaurant week so we were expecting it to be super busy, but it wasn't bad. As for the sushi, it was ok. I personally wasn't impressed. They try to do too much with trying to make the rolls creative, which meant the sushi rolls would crumble and fall apart. The sea bass roll was my favorite. If you want my honest option, I wouldn't come back here for their sushi. I bet they have better things on the menu. read more

This place is definitely worth a visit. It was rather busy and I see why! Sat at the bar before my pharm rep dinner and had an old fashion-it was delicious. Also had sea bass sushi. Wow! Highly recommend trying it. The ambiance is pretty soothing- lots of neutral earthy tones throughout the restaurant. The Caesar salad was great, steak was cooked just right! My friend brought me here for my birthday and we loved it. As others have said, it's surprising to find such fine dining in what is basically a strip mall. Max was our waiter, and he was wonderful...I loved his British accent. Since it was restaurant week we opted for the special menu. My friend had a Caesar salad, chicken and Creme Brulee. I had lobster bisque, salmon, and creme brulee. The bisque didn't have any lobster in it (which was disappointing) but had tons of flavor. My salmon was perfect in every way. Creme brulee was served cold (a surprise) but had a really good flavor. Wine list was great, as was the house Pinot Grigio. Restaurant week was price was very reasonable for what we had. The go to spot for special occasions in our family. There's something for everyone on the menu, even kids if you pick off the side dishes (Mac n cheese, risotto). First, the ambiance is relaxing. You can dress up and feel like you fit right in or go business casual and blend right in. The staff is warm and friendly. It's fun to have conversations with your server. The specials are nice twists on their menu items and if you can't decide on a staple menu item, the specials give you a fun option. I love that they have sushi. The Kobe steak roll is heavenly. They also serve sashimi if you're wanting just the fish and no bells and whistles. All fresh and portioned well. There are the steaks which are cooked perfectly. Normally I wouldn't recommend the additional sauces to add on top of your steak but they do a great job making it decadent while still letting your steak shine. You'll need to order some sides if you're getting a steak since it doesn't come with much except a few spears of asparagus. Prices are what you'd expect for a nice sit down meal. They have a bar area if you want to go casual or just enjoy a meal solo without all the formalities of sit down dining. Save room for dessert. This is definitely a place for a nice date night, anniversary dinner, or celebrating as a family. We made a reservation and were immediately shown to our table. We found the staff to be helpful and they gave great suggestions. They were very accommodating even splitting the Iceberg Wedge for us. Food came out relatively quick and hot. Tips to make your visit a success: 1) Don't miss the Bar. The bar can be your friend. Don't have a reservation, go to the bar. There for happy hour, go to the bar. The bar has a different menu too but it's not to be missed. 2) Get some sushi. Now i know you're thinking sushi at a steakhouse but definitely try it. They have a nice selection of sushi and is even a great for sushi beginners. We got the Crunchy Spicy Redux which is something you don't at sushi places. We met friends for dinner. We were surprised how few guests were there. The waiter told us when high school football is in season Fridays are often light. Great to know! The food was excellent and the ambiance is always great. I ordered the pork chop--double bone-in and enough for a meal. As a side I ordered the sauteed mushrooms. My wife ordered the sea bass and she thought it was outstanding. One small touch I love is Embers serves their whiskey with an ice ball if you want it on the rocks. It is the way I drink it at home. We made reservations on Open Table but decided to eat at the bar so that we could dine earlier. The bartenders were very attentive. We actually dined there when the Cincinnati Bearcats won last Saturday. That was pretty cool to be in the city when that happened. They had a nice wine selection. I had The Prisoner Cabernet and it paired well with my steak. I have to say both our steaks were cooked perfectly but that cowboy was AMAZING!!! It was much more flavorful than mine but that had a lot to do with the cut and blue cheese crust... YUM! We were pleased with everything. My friend wants to go back next weekend just for that cowboy steak . It's a little pricey but we don't mind paying for great food. We had great conversation about the game with those that were around us so it made it an even better experience. Bottom line: get the cowboy steak. I told our waitress to please hug the cook for me... that's how good it was! I highly recommend this place. Side note: We didn't really see anything that appealed to us on the dessert menu but everything look amazing coming out of the kitchen. We had a fun time trying this restaurant for the first time. We started with the rotisserie chicken spring rolls which were okay, I recommend skipping these (you can do better at a Chinese restaurant). Next dish was the Green Goddess salad, it was really good and I highly recommend! The dressing was so good I was tempted to drink it! I ordered the Diver Scallops, I enjoyed the scallops but did not like how they were served with so much sauce. My husband ordered the bone in ribeye which was delicious and perfectly cooked. Get the ribeye! I also recommend the Boursin potatoes au gratin, these are delicious and a perfect side with the ribeye. Lastly I ordered the banana panini. It is a perfect size to share. I thought it was like banana French Toast was good but probably would not order again. My hubby ordered the Honey Bourbon Chocolate cake, I thought it was okay but a little dry. Restaurant has a wonderful classic feel, very warm, particularly in the bar area. Service was very good. Restaurant was busy on a Friday night and we still had food and drinks a short amount of time. I had the sushi, Kobe beef roll and spider roll. They were mot great. Very big but not like you would get at a sushi restaurant. Dry and flavorless. I would not come here the for sushi. The ribs however were delicious. My guess is everything on the menu is good except the sushi. I have been here a few times. I desperately want to love it as it is much closer to my house than other restaurants in this category, but I've had mediocre service and average food each time. Most recently I was here on a Monday night. It was very crowded, mainly with older people. The service was slow which is the norm in summer 2021 so not a huge negative, but it just felt very busy the whole time. The decor is very common, nothing special. Our food was all pretty good. I had fish special and it was a highlight, but everything else was unmemorable. You certainly could do worse. There is nothing blatantly wrong with Embers, it just lacks differentiation. For a similar price I prefer Coopers Hawk with a younger crowd and more interesting menu down the road. read more

Bread was warm and good. Cocktails were good. However our entrees were a major disappointment. We waited over 30 minutes after finishing our appetizer, once served both entrees were overcooked as well as our side of Brussel sprouts. I had the pan seared filet and my husband had the New York strip. Several tables around us sent back food to the kitchen, but that's just not our style. Service was good, but for the price we were extremely disappointed. This was our first visit, for the money I'd rather give my money to other establishments in the area.
