Chicken karage
Trang L.

I was craving Japanese food and honestly being from SoCal... I had no idea where to go in Cincinnati lol as far as.. Japanese rice bowl dishes. BUT I found Kozue and I am so glad I did! I wanted specifically a good unagi bowl and Kozue had it. It's a really nice establishment with actually affordable prices which is so hard to find nowadays! Anywho... We ordered so appetizers, a sushi roll, and two entrees. My husband ordered the chicken katsu and I the unagi. He enjoyed his chicken katsu.. although my recommendation is to make it a chicken katsudon! That would be even tastier! My unagi bowl hit the spot - it was a nice portion and everything was well done. Our toddler loved the chicken karage too! I will be definitely be coming back here fo shooo!

3 Rolls Combo - my go to. I ate one of each before taking this pic!

Okay, I was trying to wait until I actually dine in at Kozue to review it, but it's way past time now. I'm not ashamed to say that I Doordash here basically every week. Imo this is by far the best sushi I've had in Cincinnati (okay I haven't been to Roji yet, but I've been to Ando and Mei). Kozue is the only place around here that seasons their rice appropriately. It makes the biggest difference! The first time I ate here I thought, "this is exactly how I want everything." There's just nothing better for me than that! I love that they offer a 3 roll combo and that I can cover everything I want in that. My go to is simple, tuna roll, hamachi negi and eel roll. I've gotten it so many times now that I get rewards from Doordash... kinda embarrassing but not really because it's so good. I've also tried some other rolls, another one I get regularly is the vegetable roll. Very very fresh and refreshing. The flavors here are just spot on for me. I haven't really tried any of their super fusiony American rolls because I'm not really into that but I'm sure they're also very good. The other thing I want to highlight is their chicken lettuce wraps... yes seriously, I know that's weird and it's not even a Japanese food, but these are SO good. It's not just a gimmick!! I get multiple orders so that I can have more later. These are the best lettuce wraps I've ever had. The vegetables are perfectly brunoised and it makes such a huge difference. The sauce is amazing. I seriously love these, about as much as the sushi lol. I know, judge me, but if you've ever had these and liked them you should really try them here!! Also, they have vegetarian green gyoza which I can't find ANYWHERE else and this is the best vegetarian gyoza ever. It has edamame inside! Their miso soup is fabulous, lots of seaweed and small chunks of soft tofu. It looks really nice inside and I want to come check it out someday, but until then I'm going to be ordering takeout because I'm addicted. I just checked and today was my 10th order... yes, I have a problem! And I don't want to stop! Thanks for all of the delicious food!

Lunch sushi

First time visitor. It was quiet at lunch time but I think that I arrived after the rush. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly folks, good meal (edamame, lunch sushi). Nice location in the downtown area (nearby parking). I'll be back next time to check out the ramen. Lots of nice choices on the menu.

We've been here a couple of times and usually order the 3 Rolls Combo (any 3 classic rolls). This time we got 2 of the Kyoto rolls and 1 Fusion roll. We also ordered a Yummy Roll and it was true to its name! The seating area inside is quite small and usually pretty busy but we've been seated quickly as walk-ins each time. On this occasion, we were asked to move tables and perhaps because of that, we received a kani salad and seaweed salad on the house.

Highlight: Chicken Karaage ($7.95), Wagyu Beef Skewers ($10.95), Sushi Deluxe ($27.95), Miso Soup Miso soup offered refreshing seaweed with a subtle taste and extra extra soft tofu. The wagyu beef skewers were juicy and lightly seasoned. Taste was good, but it was a bit tough to chew. Rice on the firm side for the sushi, but had a good amount of vinegar. I was expecting the sushi to be more decorated based on the photos online and my conversation with our server, but it turned out to be different from what I was hoping for. Hospitality: Went with a large group closer to closing time, so the service was understandably less attentive. Honorable Mention: Interior well decorated with bar and table seating.

Not from Cincy but we've been to Kozue three times by now. Impressive restaurant and great service. The ingredients they use are just so fresh. The taste reflects the freshness. Definitely worth going and we will go again when we are in town.

Listen, if you're not already obsessed--you're about to be. The sushi? Fresh. Everything else? Literally, trust the wait staff and just go with it! The aesthetic? Lowkey perfect for that "I didn't try but still look cute" dinner. I tried the a variety of dishes and they literally melted in my mouth. See photos Service? Sweet and chill. Ambiance? Modern, but still warm. Will I be back? That's not even a question. I'm already planning my next visit. Kozue, you officially have my heart (and my stomach).

This place has amazing sushi at a good price point. The spicy girl roll has been my favorite so far. I have only been a couple times, but I am looking forward to dining here again.

Birthday Boy Chocolate Cake

We had a delightful meal and dining experience at Kozue. We were here on a Friday just after Noon. The place was pretty empty when we arrived, but it was packed when we left. The five star reviews, including mine, are well deserved. Everyone staff member we encountered during our visit was top notch. Our server was especially nice and helpful. When she arrived at the table I mentioned it was someone's birthday (Mark's). She was super sweet and mentioned he'd get a free birthday dessert. We started off with Spicy Garlic Edamame. It was SO good! I wanted a jar of the sauce to take home. This dish was quite literally finger licking good! I ordered Sashimi Deluxe and Mark ordered Spicy Miso Ramen. I had a choice of salad or miso soup and opted for the soup. The miso soup was served very hot, which I appreciated. It was perfectly salty. There was not a ton of tofu or seaweed, but it was absolutely delicious. My sashimi arrived in a compartmentalized box. It was not especially beautiful, but it was functional. I found the sashimi extraordinarily pleasant. Every bite elicited yummy noises. The octopus was extra delicious. I was pleasantly surprised. I would absolutely order this again. Mark ate every drop of his ramen. He raved about it, not only while eating it, but later... including today, a day later. He ranked it near the top of the list of Ramen he's enjoyed. Considering we lived in the San Francisco Bay Area first seven years, this is high praise indeed. Mark was offered chocolate cake, cheesecake or mochi ice cream for his birthday dessert. He opted for chocolate cake. Great choice! There was plenty to share. It was rich, thick and chocolaty! Though it was decidedly not Japanese, it was thoroughly delicious. It's a little bit of a drive for us, but we will most definitely be back.

As an avid sushi enthusiast, I was over-the-moon when I heard there was a new sushi restaurant opening in Montgomery. After checking it out, I can tell you this is going to be the place to be this summer (& beyond). They have a lovely area outside where you can dine & enjoy the weather. There is some street parking available as well as a parking garage right next to the restaurant. The inside has lots of light wood decor which gives it a neutral yet modern vibe. The bathrooms are very clean & spacious single-stall restrooms, both of which provide a changing table. Our server was very smiley & attentive & offered help if we needed it with the menu. Let's talk about the food I ordered two special rolls - the spicy girl & the crazy ($13.95 each). When tell you I absolutely could not get enough of the crazy roll...man. Spicy tuna inside, spicy salmon on top, drizzled with spicy mayo & wasabi mayo sauce - it should be called the crazy delicious roll. It's had a satisfying melt-in-your-mouth feel to it. My husband stated he would have liked a little crunch somewhere, but I was perfectly satisfied. The spicy girl provided the perfect amount of heat & had some crunch to it as well. It had tempura salmon & avocado on the inside & was topped with spicy crab, eel, & spicy mayo. This roll was also extremely flavorful & delicious & nice to enjoy alongside the crazy roll. My husband had the spicy miso ramen ($13.95). He chose to forgo the bamboo, but the ramen was still packed full of delicious savory flavors which included stir minced pork & a tender soft-boiled egg for a hint of umami. The green onions gave it a bright punch & added a nice crunch to each bite.

Traditional Tonkotsu Ramen!
Ciro C.

This was the first time going to Kozue and it was amazing! The food was delicious, the sushi freshly made and the ramen was hot and savory. The waiter was very attentive, gave some great recommendations on the dishes we should try and even had a nice conversation with my son who shared the same name as them. The place itself was clean and the decor was very layback. The lights were dim making it the perfect mood to have a big bowl of their Traditional Tonkotsu ramen. The price was right as we ended up ordering more food than we expected but the bill didn't hurt our wallet. If you are looking for authentic Japanese cuisine with a nice environment at a good price, this is the place to go! If you have a kaiju size appetite try their Tempura Udon and the Godzilla roll! It's monstrous and delicious!

Salmon Teriyaki

Food was stupid good and now we know why the place was popping! Ramen, three rolls special, and by far one of the best teriyaki bbq salmon yet.

Shio broth ramen
Caroline I.

I'm so thrilled to see some new restaurants in Montgomery. This restaurant is right next to BRU which is always busy. I tried the ramen this time and my husband did straight sushi. Next time we will come to try some of their specialty rolls. I had the shio ramen and it was tasty with al dente noodles. It was a bit salty as shio typically is, good flavor and it had one really good piece of scallop in the broth. The party next to me seemed to really enjoy their rolls so I will come back!

Big typical sushi menu, thankfully free of most inauthentic items containing cream cheese. Fast, efficient service. I think they do much more carry out than dining in but the to go items get home fine. Reasonable prices and decent portion sizes.

I would try it again, but would probably seek out a different place to try first to compare. First, I found the ordering process a bit confusing. Their website advertises BOGO rolls but it's unclear how the second roll is taken off the bill. I was expecting to see a second roll deducted from my bill but didn't, so I called and found out that there is a plus icon under every roll that indicates a second one. I could see this after that, and it made sense. I was coordinating an order for 6 adults so there were several different rolls in our order plus all the free ones. When we picked up the food to split, it was all on one giant platter. This was fun (and I'm glad it saved waste) but we couldn't tell which roll was which and which was the second free one. I wish I would have known to ask for takeout containers to split up the extra also. Another note about the ordering- there is nowhere on the website to enter a pre-set pickup time (only default 25-30 minute option) so you'd have to either order right before pickup or call the restaurant like I did to change the time on your order. I also ordered vegetable fried rice and green gyoza. The fried rice was good but not great. It was hot and fresh, but just not as flavorful so I topped it with more of my gyoza sauce. The green gyoza were not good. The skin was dry and stiff, and the inside was a starchy filling, almost like chickpea or another starchy bean. It was not the soft wrappers with smooth fresh filling I expected, and I was bummed cause I was looking forward to them so much. Our order was on time and the restaurant had easy parking and entry. But besides that, I found all of the aspects of this takeout experience to be just okay.

I believe the food tastes significantly better than Kyoto, just down the street. It's a good bit cleaner inside too. However, on take out orders, be prepared to wait. 4x takeout and the order has NEVER been ready even close to when promised. Tonight said 35 minutes. Approaching an hour now and no signs of being ready.... So if you're interested in takeout here, (the food has been good) I suggest you show up 30 minutes after the promised time... even after putting in review still not ready....

It's located in a strip mall next to Kroger. It's a smallish restaurant that has six 4+ top tables and a sushi bar. When we arrived we were immediately greeted by a nice woman who was also our waitress and prepared food. The menu included some basic sushi rolls, a few speciality rolls, hibachi items, rice bowls and appetizers. It's small but includes a lot of classics. We ordered two house salads, miso soup, gyoza, crab Rangoon, spicy tuna roll, tempura California roll, and Thai boba tea. (We were hungry!) We had read a few reviews that service was slow but we had the opposite experience. The food came out extremely fast! Our salads and soup arrived first and then almost everything arrived at once, hot and fresh! The restaurant only had 2 other seated tables but they had a fair amount of togo orders while we were waiting. Let's start with salad and soup - traditional hibachi type salad and soup. The salad had the dressing on the side in cute heart shaped bowl. The soup was traditional and was hot and tasty. Next up appetizers - the menu didn't indicate the gyoza was deep fried but it was very good too. Crispy on the outside and moist and filling in the middle. The crab Rangoon had been mentioned in previous reviews and I'm so glad we tried it. It's on the sweeter side but filling is very creamy with pieces of imitation crab. I'd recommend them both. Finally onto the rolls - my daughter loved her California tempura roll - packed with traditional California roll filling and perfectly fried. My spicy tuna roll was extremely delicious, a little spicy and packed with flavor. Our total was $45, but we had a really great and extremely filling meal. I'd highly recommend dining in or ordering togo. Service was excellent and our waitress was so nice. One last detail, they have wooden chairs with smiley faces cut out.
