I went here on a date, it was a really nice place. The waiter was nice, but we went on a Monday so they were missing some stuff. Not a major deal, so we got some sake to share, the name is totally expected me but on the menu it has a cute little paw print next to it. We got some pork egg rolls to share, they and the sauce were wonderfully delicious. We both got the chicken katsu was delicious, I loved the crunchy bread and the savory yuzu sauce. This place definitely had a funky vibe to it. It was small in there, but not too small to where we felt crammed. Service was amazing, we felt very welcomed and accommodated by everyone there. I had originally ordered the spicy tuna roll, crispy tuna rice, and the double salmon roll, but they ran out of spicy tuna while making the crispy rice! So I ended up ordering gyoza instead but they were out of that too! So our server ended up comping the rainbow roll I ordered instead which was really nice. The chef also came out and explained that everything is made fresh and they get their food weekly and apologized for the inconvenience. The crispy tuna rice was really good, super crispy all the way through the rice, and tuna was actually spicy too, which i appreciate. The double salmon roll was the best bite of the night for me, salmon tempura, avocado, and cucumber, topped with seared salmon and then eel sauce and spicy mayo. I will dream about this, it was so good. I was unfortunately not a fan of the rainbow roll. We came to this town not knowing anything on a visit October 7, 2024 and we left with a nice sushi meal and a list of attractions in the area to visit bc of her. Thank you Kennedy! Love this place! I believe the owner's name is Macy. My memory is horrible, but I'll remember her face! She was incredibly kind and attentive to our staff and our guests. Maki Mono catered an event at Madison Theater this last weekend. Her and her crew found a great spot to set up in the venue, and served AFFORDABLE, delicious, hot food to us all night. At no point did she run out of anything, and our guests were complimenting her food all evening. I'm pretty certain shes going to be our first pick for that venue in the future. We chose lightly fried but weren't sure how it would go because a lot of places make them so crisp. These were cooked to perfection! The chicken katsu was great as well. It was one of the few places that make it taste like katsu instead of chicken tenders but I wish it had more of the sauce.
