I came with a large group last week and ordered two rolls and some nigiri, which were fresh. Their spicy rolls are hotter than you'd expect (my friends who ordered other spicy rolls agreed). There was karaoke happening as we left, and there is plenty of seating inside! There is a 20% automatic gratuity for large groups. Unfortunately, my friend who ordered the jjajangmyeon (which was also quite bland), listed as $12 on our menus, was charged significantly more. When she asked a waitress about it, she was just told that we received menus that hadn't been updated (piece of paper taped over the old price). This was definitely not the best or close to the best meal i've ever had. Although the atmosphere was very cute and decorated for valentine's day, the food left much more to be desired. The chicken fried rice was bland and tasteless and the bibimbap with tofu had rice that seemed overcooked or left out for a long time, as the pieces of rice literally would not separate. Also, our stomachs did not take the bibimbap well at all, which I have also heard from other friends of mine. Our total was $38 which was not worth any of it. The vegetable dumplings were okay and were the best part of the meal. I would recommend trying somewhere else in clifton. read more

Can not hate on this place at all. Was staying at a hotel near the campus and while out exploring I found this place that has happy hour pricing and it was happy hour! Half price rolls were the order of the day and they were good size and tasty. The service was spot on and it wasn't too crowded. Not too far from campus, this would make a good spot for reasonably priced food for students. The inside was done up nice, so this is no fly by night dump setup to fleece folks out of their hardearned money. The staff is really friendly. The ambiance is dark and clubby but it's a very calming environment for the middle of the work day. decent campus sushi. good prices, all the rolls are half off most of the time so it can be pretty cheap. the menu is large but most of the specialty rolls have tempura shrimp or are fried in some way. if you want fish forward sushi, there are not many specialty rolls. the rolls are on the smaller side since they're so cheap, but two rolls is a nice size dinner. service is great and food comes out fast. read more

Honestly, I'm not much of a sushi fan but coming here converted me. From the bartenders to the servers the service was absolutely excellent. I was treated with the upmost respect and hospitality. As a sushi lover, I make it a point to get Sushi at least once a week. Was craving for Mr Sushi but did not want to deal with the parking downtown, I decided to came to this location. But guess what.. I regretted my decision. This place is soooo bad.... Since they were both Mr Sushi, anyone would expect consistency between branches.. but nope... Totally wrong. Ordered my usual sashimi and a couple of specialty rolls. My sashimi came frozen. Ice Cold. You can feel ice in every bite you take. It's feels like they took it out of the freezer and just served it to you. The rice was stale and hard. Taste like something you cooked a week ago and let it sit in the fridge. Cold, hard and dry. The mango sushi roll has this weird alcoholic taste to it. It got me thinking if it was done on purpose with some special sauce... Or the ingredients they used turned bad so it's giving off the rotten alcoholic taste.. Decided not to give food poisoning a chance, I left it there.. The 4 star review is for the food and the pricing/value. Got the bimbimbap (spelling?) with spicy chicken and miso soup. The entree was good size and the veggies, egg, and chicken were tasty and abundant. The soup was tasty and not overly salty. Sauce was sweet and spicy and portioned well. I had to dock a star for service. I walked in, was seated, and it was a good 5-10 minutes before I even saw a server in the building. Blond younger college gal, she was really struggling. Forgot my water, didn't bring me my soup or napkins until I asked about them when my entree arrived. Just set a fork on the table. Still sitting waiting on the check. My review is probably closer to a 3.5 for Mr. Sushi. It's not that anything why remarkably wrong, it's just that nothing really stood out from my recent visit. My friend and I went prior to attending a show at the Aronoff, hoping to kill time with sushi and cocktails. We were a little disappointed they there isn't a true cocktail menu here, and opted for wine and a cider instead. She ordered hibachi steak while I opted for bacon wrapped scallops and a Sunday morning roll. Unlike me, she's a fan of onions but her hibachi meal came swimming in onions. I knew it had to be a lot when I see my onion loving friend picking them out of her dish. My Sunday morning roll was good, but it's pretty standard wherever you go. My scallops were disappointing. We both opted out of taking our leftovers home. The sauce and bacon flavor completely overpowered the scallops. We ended up just grabbing the check and killing our last half hour drinking cocktails at Nada. As Broadway in Cincinnati subscribers, the proximity to the Aronoff will likely have us visiting again in the future, but in all honesty, it'll be at the bottom of our list. read more

I don't leave reviews on Yelp as I prefer to speak to a manager, or I'll email the establishment so they can address the issues without public scrutiny. Today, I changed my mind as nothing about my experience was acceptable. A good 10 minutes before our server greeted us with water. No big deal, we (my 2 daughters and I) could see that she was the only server on the floor. At this time she decided it was a good idea to tell us she was a little "under the weather". There was a hostess/manager?/bartender working also but she didn't do much to help. I actually watched her eating behind the bar while the server ran around in the weeds. We ordered two apps and then our main meal a few minutes later. The crab rangoon came out about 15 minutes later and the server said the shrimp tempura would be right out. It never came. After another lengthy wait one of my daughter's meals came out. Then she brought out my other daughter's food. The server came back a few minutes later and I was then told that my food would be out in 2 minutes. I then asked for it to be boxed to go and to make sure we didn't get charged for the shrimp we never received. The server apologized every time she came around but the damage had been done. She told me, I'll give you some soup at no charge. I politely declined but she still bagged some up for me. She dropped the check off and I went to the bar to pay as I felt it would be awhile before she would make it back to pick it up. This was when the host/bartender/manager asked if she could help. It seemed quite disingenuous to offer to help after we had endured the horrible service up to that point. She never apologized just affirmed that our server was solo on the floor. We weren't looking for a discount or food promo'd, we just wanted to all eat together with our college student. Although she did take off $3 and the free soup that I didn't want. read more

High quality sushi at a good price point. Whenever I'm in Cincinnati, I always make it a point to stop by, especially during their half off sushi roll special. ordered the bibimbap with beef for lunch. I literally got steamed rice with carrots, cucumbers, rehydrated/dehydrated mushrooms, shredded radish, an egg . Typically bibimbap is made in a pot that caramelizes the rice so you get a mix of crunchy and soft rice, this was just steamed white rice. boring but ok, it didn't specified stone bowl so that's on me. Naturally the beef I ordered that is on most bibimbap was missing so thanks for my tepid warm rice/vegetable mix with a way overcooked egg on top I guess? Oh and I got on yelp to find out there are health violations that consistently happen so I guess I should be thankful I didn't get the meat I ordered and I'm really thankful I didn't order sushi like I had originally planned. read more

People who work there seemed clueless when it comes to japanese food, service was pretty bad as well - had to ask for chopsticks and for soy sauce a couple of times. Server walked out on us a few times while we were trying to ask questions, order. I can somewhat excuse the server as she seemed new but the food was just horrible. I am fine with place not being authentic considering we are in the midwest and whatnot but it just tasted bad, rice wasn't properly cooked, the katsu sauce tasted off, and I got food poisoning. My sushi was delicious! There were lots of different options for sushi in the area but I am so glad I chose Mr. Sushi. I got the K.S roll and it was the perfect sushi roll for me. If you're not into sushi too much, there are few places in the Clifton area where you can get the 'best of both worlds' -- both sushi and a variety of options. Although it can get busy, I've hardly waited more than 20 minutes for a table -- super nice! I recommend getting a fish bowl. They can seem a little sugary, but it's a nice drink! I get the Sour Punch. For food, I recommend the hibachi if you're not into sushi. If you are and can't decide, ask the server! They are very friendly there! I came here last Friday with a friend and ended up with food poisoning. My friend ordered something different so he was fine, but about 15 hours after eating I was vomiting over the course of 6 hours. I wasn't certain it was food poisoning or if I was coming down with a stomach bug until my boyfriend (whom I took a few pieces of my leftover sushi to) came down with the same symptoms the next day.
