Makase, toro from Mexico, King Salmon from New Zealand, I forgot the rest, but the melt in your mouth experience was unforgettable!

We choose Ando for our 15th anniversary (1st time here). Top tier all the way, best sushi I ever had!

I think Ando ruined any other sushi place for me! A cute spot for a nice date/dinner. I'm usually not the type of person to eat raw fish, but the fatty tuna and uni blew my mind. The fatty tuna was from Mexico and the uni came from Japan. I also got the chicken katsu with curry which was delicious, I had to share with my table. The service was great and they were very patient with us when we were deciding what to get. Everyone there was super nice! We decided to get the blueberry crème brûlée and the dark chocolate cheesecake, the perfect way to end our dinner. Ando is now one of the only places I will come to eat raw fish! Our experience was wonderful and I would definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for great Japanese cuisine.

    Love this wonderful restaurant!

They no longer offer Shabu-Shabu. They no longer allow you to bring your own alcohol & charge an excessive fee for their own alcohol. We are so sad. It is no longer the same environment!

Ando has moved! It's on reed hartman now. It's no longer on Pfeiffer. I use to go here for lunch all the time. Last night we went to Ando for dinner. And it was amazing! The price is a little higher than lunch but totally worth it. The sushi was fantastic. We got the sushi combo for two with seasonal fish. Service was great. I took a star off for ambiance, just because it's a little lack luster. But this place is def worth your time. We live in mt lookout. So we have been to all the trendy sushi places in the area. But Ando is the best and definitely worth the drive out to Blueash.

My favorite place to go for sushi and splurge a little. It's a mom and pop shop ran by the entire family. Their service is top tier and they always make you feel like you're at their home. Service was quick and very well paced between each dish. If you sit at the bar the chefs behind the counter definitely interact and care what their customers have to say. The restaurant is smaller but it's a very intimate setting. Now onto the food. They have the most fresh cuts of fish/seafood in the tristate. Everything my husband and I had was delicious. The fatty pork just melts in your mouth. The fried squid was very well seasoned and the perfect hint of umami. Highly recommend the bento, for myself I could only finish half of my tonkatsu and it was perfect to take home.

For a great Japanese dining experience in a contemporary setting - Ando has always exceeded my expectations - the staff is always welcoming and quick to make sure your dining experience is perfect - the proprietors have devoted their menu to the freshest fish available - and to traditional Japanese cuisine! I have been fortunate to have been a patron for many years - and hopefully for many years to come! Call ahead for reservations, especially on the weekends. Inquire about the daily specials - and venture into the omakase experience for a special evening!

Sushi dinner for two (upgraded to chef's premium selection)

Don't let this little restaurant hidden in a strip mall fool you, this is by far the best sushi in Cincinnati!!! They are very gluten free friendly - menu is marked, they have gf soy sauce, and even made a special side salad with its own dressing. Our table shared the nasu shigyaki appetizer (eggplant), which was excellent. I got the sushi dinner upgraded to the chef's prime selection with spicy tuna as the roll. Every piece of fish was melt in your mouth delicious. The yellowtail scallion roll was also excellent. Although they recently got a liquor license, it's still BYOB ($10 corkage fee per bottle)! While pricey relative to other sushi in Cincinnati, definitely worth it!!

The food, both sushi and Japanese is unbelievably good. Ken is an artist. Kay has an excellent unbelievable memory and remembers each guests details. Wonderful people. The new place is supposedly run by the kids but the parents are still very much involved! The recent grilled Spanish mackerel was a treasure! Better than any mackerel I've had in my life. Black cod as well. Cincinnati is luck to have this!

The service was impeccable and they were so knowledgeable about every fish and all the prep into it. The ambiance was interesting, we had a girl begging for soy sauce and the chef just gave her salt. Was kinda funny to watch but made a little bit of tension. I think the chef handled it in a mature manner, the customer was clearly drunk or something and was not happy with their experience. Like I said this puts all other sushi in a lower classification. So much effort and thought into everything.

I went to the Thursday 5:00 p.m. seating, and I know I got lucky getting a reservation. I logged on…read morearound 7:00 that morning to book, and I was able to get one on my first try. Several people in my group said they'd tried multiple times without any luck. From what I've heard, Thursday at 5:00 is one of the easier reservations to get, because the Friday and Saturday 7:00 p.m. seatings disappear almost instantly. I've had sushi all over the country (although not all over the world), and this was hands down the best sushi I've ever had. The quality of the fish is incredible--they fly it in from Japan--and every course was beautifully presented. The pairings the chef came up with were amazing and really let the fish shine. The menu changes every day and every season, so you'll never have the exact same experience twice. One of my favorite surprises was the miso soup. The chef explained that the broth is made using the bones from the fish we were eating that evening, and it was honestly one of the best bowls of miso soup I've ever had. The only suggestion I'd make is to have a simple printed menu with the names of each course and maybe a few notes about the ingredients. The chef explains every course, but there are so many Japanese names and details that it's hard to remember everything by the time you leave. I would have loved something to take notes on or even just glance at while he was talking. The only other thing I noticed was that the ending felt just a little rushed. There are seatings at 5:00, 7:00, and 9:00, and by the end of our meal the next group was already waiting in the entryway. It wasn't a big deal, but it was noticeable. The experience is $115 per person, and the required 20% gratuity is paid when you make the reservation. You can also order alcoholic drinks during dinner. At the end, the chef offers an optional add-on (ours was either a $30 bowl or a $12 roll). I skipped it because it featured a type of fish that usually isn't my favorite, but after seeing what the chef did with everything else, I was honestly tempted to give it a try. Maybe next time. This was one of those meals that you keep thinking about long after it's over. Everything was thoughtful, beautifully prepared, and absolutely delicious. I can honestly say it's the best sushi I've ever had, and I'd love to come back every season to see how the menu changes.

We were aiming for dim sum a couple doors down, but they were slammed and had no out of the way place to wait. So, we walked a few yards and went into Kawa. Tablets are used to order appetizers, drinks, etc. All delivered by a robot or a train on a track above the conveyor. The sushi itself, along with other items like dessert, rolls by constantly. The best part, pricing is clear. Everything on the belt is $3.45 per plate, subject to change, of course. The sushi was fresh and the portions were in line with the prices. If you've never had conveyor belt sushi or you just want to try something a little unique to the Cincinnati area, Kawa is the place. While this location is a little out of the way for us, Hyde Park is a quick drive and we will return.

We chose E&O Kitchen at The Banks because they had a surprisingly solid selection of vegan options. The overall vibe of the restaurant was nice, but the music was a bit too loud for my taste, especially during the dinner/happy hour rush. It was also extremely hot outside, so sitting on the patio wasn't really an option. We took advantage of the happy hour menu and ordered two sushi rolls, which made the meal very reasonably priced. As a vegan, I also ordered the Tofu Bowl. It was good, but honestly nothing particularly memorable. The tofu didn't seem to be seasoned, and there was only a light drizzle of teriyaki sauce over the rice, so I ended up adding soy sauce for more flavor. While that dish didn't really impress me, the restaurant has several other vegan options that I'd be interested in trying next time. Overall, it was a good experience. The location is excellent if you're heading to a Reds game, and The Banks is a beautiful area to walk around before or after. We wouldn't go out of our way to eat here, but we'd definitely consider stopping by again and giving another menu item a chance.
