I have yet to have a bad experience here. Most recently picked up lunch on July 10th. Kept it simple.. I ​got the Sunday morning roll and the shrimp tempura roll. Plenty of parking available. We came to Neko when we were in the area and it was lunchtime. We're always up for trying a new-to-us restaurant! Street parking was easy but you do pay by app. We also love a bibimbap stone bowl meal. Hubby also ordered a hamachi appetizer. $4 for one piece. He was disappointed....it wasn't as fresh as our favorite sushi place and the flavor also wasn't as good. BUT...we both liked our rice stone bowls. We ordered them with chicken (they also have beef). We loved how sizzling hot the bowls were because that creates the crispy rice at the bottom! Yum! There were also greens and bean sprouts, fried egg, and carrot. Have driven by Neko so many times and finally tried it tonight. We loved the fried rice and the sushi was great! We're pretty picky about sushi as well. Everything was very tasty. This cozy spot is my absolutely favorite for ramen. I typically go for the spicy vegetable ramen and add mushrooms. It is always served piping hot and the spice level is perfect. A fantastic, tucked away neighborhood sushi restaurant! Came here first a spontaneous lunch out on a Friday and got a seat right away. There aren't a ton of tables inside so I imagine they can get pretty busy at night. They have some great deals on lunch specials. Delicious! We had dinner here last night and everything was very good! I ordered some hot Green Tea, Kimchi Soup and the Sushi & Sashimi Combo. Ended up going for the Neko Salmon Sushi roll, which is torched to perfection with spicy mayo. If you like seared salmon, definitely try this one. Enjoyed my first time here! The inside is cozy and clean. The seating is limited but it was not busy (late lunch time) so we got sat quickly. The agedashi tofu appetizer was flavorful with a nice crust outside, soft tofu, and warm light sauce! The naruto roll did not have any rice but the fish, cucumber, and sauce was clean and refreshing. The spicy tuna had a nice spice kick with a great ratio of rice/ fish. The sashimi sampler cuts were very generous and quality was decent. Overall good sushi! Just delicious. Loved my experience at Neko. We stopped her unexpectedly for lunch. Our stop at a business nearby brought us to the area. I am so glad it did or I would have not discovered it. My meal began with a serving of the house salad. I ordered a small size salad for $3. The ginger dressing was fresh and the salad was crisp. It included carrots and cucumbers. I definitely saw the carrots but no cucumbers. For my main meal I had their vegi roll. It was good but left me hungry for more food. To satisfy my hunger I got their fried rice minus the egg and seasoned Witt salt & pepper. It was very good but I could taste the oil used to fry it or season it. I would recommend it but perhaps request that they lessen the oil in the prep. I will return! read more

Sushi here is usually very good and convenient (always a fan of 50% off). I've been able to dine in and grab a few rolls for take out. Recently I came and ordered a few things off menu- the tofu appetizer and beef bulgogi- and they were just fine (tofu was a very dense texture and needed more of the sauce). I will continue to hit up neko when my sushi craving peaks, and focus mainly on their rolls. read more

Has a very authentic feeling inside. Me and a few friends went here and i started off with a bottle of their Rosé. The waiter was very professional asking if i wanted a taste first then pouring all of our glasses. Next came out a appetizer of Soft shell Crab , the presentation was amazing i wish i got a picture of it because wow! The taste was amazing as well i definitely recommend that for a appetizer. Then i got the Sunday Morning Roll & The Rocky Mountain Roll, ive been to many sushi restaurants but this takes the cake. Absolutely fantastic. Finally to end the meal i had Fried Cheesecake. The restaurant owner Kim brought me over a complimentary scallop and yellowtail sashimi after we briefly spoke about the different qualities of sushi that can be purchased from local fish markets and how the sushi she serves her customers meet a higher level of quality. This sushi spot is a literal hidden gem, right off of Hyde Park Square! The rolls are SO fresh and creative, the service is great, and the location is so easy to get to. My fiancé and I wandered in for an early Saturday dinner, around 5 p.m. We parked right across the street at a meter, and there were plenty of open spots when we arrived and when we left. We'd been once before and it had been packed, so we were surprised to see that we were the only ones in the restaurant. We quickly learned that we just beat the dinner rush ... because by the time we left, the little restaurant was nearly full. Our server was so friendly and personable, and when we asked about Sake, she recommended we do a Sake flight. We got to try four different flavors for $10 per person. I preferred the peach, while my fiancé loved the strawberry. Of course, we can't go out for sushi without a bowl of miso soup and an order of crab rangoons. The soup was warm and salty - exactly what you want on a chilly March evening. The crab rangoons were crispy on the outside, and creamy on the inside, with enough imitation crab that you can taste it, but not enough to overwhelm your palate. The sushi is certainly the main event ... and we loved every roll we ordered. The Kiss of Fire was my favorite - spicy tuna topped with sriracha. The Sweet Potato roll is also a fun way to mix up your order ... it's essentially just tempura fried sweet potato without any fish. We went out on a limb and ordered the Naruto roll (no rice), and loved how refreshing it was! The Black Dragon roll was probably the wildest thing we ordered ... it's topped with a whole BBQ Eel. We liked it more than we thought we would, and would definitely recommend it to any adventurous sushi lovers. For five rolls, Sake flights, and appetizers, we made it out for around $130 including tip. You can't beat the prices, freshness and flavor! Plus ... the whole restaurant is cat-themed, which makes the experience that much better. read more

I love coming to this place and trying the different rolls. Gyoza was a bit on the crispy side but had great flavor. I like dry sake, so the ginjo was perfect. The tempura spicy tuna is one I order every time, but if you don't like cream cheese in sushi, it's not for you. Service: 4/5 Service is fast for a sushi restaurant with attentive staff. We ordered a good amount of things: edamame, side salads, crab rangoon, and three different sushi rolls. The side salad was not our favorite. The greens were a bit different than what we were used to for an Asian side salad and mine could have used more ginger dressing, but the taste was still great. The crab rangoon is a similar story: it was good, but there are definitely better options nearby. All of the other food was great. We loved the edamame and our sushi rolls. My friend got some raw fish rolls and was a fan. I got the Baked Salmon Roll and really loved it! I loved the combination of the asparagus, cream cheese, and crab that was topped with salmon that was baked to perfection. Plus the perfect sauces on top, too. I would definitely return for this roll! There was only one server for the entire place. This was fine at first, but as it got busier it became an issue. There were three tables seated outside and at least 3 others seated inside and it was too much for this young man to keep up with. I would guess he is part of the family business and maybe they can't find another staff member or possibly do not want to, but I would recommend a second server on busier nights. We got our food and had to wait awhile on chopsticks/silverware. We sat with empty water glasses for half our meal and then sat with them empty a second time. Another solution could be leaving pitchers of water on the table if you don't have enough staff. I would have been happy with that because I would have at least had water. We did not get any dessert but I would like to try their mochi ice cream. I would come back just to get the Baked Salmon Roll. Highly recommend it! read more
