We loved everything about this place. From their napkins to their dishes to their cups, nothing is done cheaply. It's all really nice. Their bento boxes, all their food was so great. They bring you a welcome treat and then at the end they give you cute little mints and coins to play their claw machine. Will definitely be coming back here. A new favorite for sure.
Okini is hands down some of the best service I've ever received. I placed an online order, but it didn't properly submit because of my own mistakes. The staff quickly placed me an order in the restaurant and were very apologetic despite the issue being my fault. I decided to grab a cocktail while i waited. The cocktail was sooo delicious. I had a passion fruit martini. While i was waiting, they brought me a free snacking tray for my troubles. I will ABSOLUTELY be back based on the service alone. My bartender was as sweet as can be. When i got home to try my Cincinnati roll, i realized they LOADED these babies up. It was so delicious. Next time, i will grab a roll without cream cheese, but i wanted to try their cincy roll. This place was delicious. I can't wait to come back in dine inside. They have a claw machine with a restaurant coin that is super cool. I also got one of those while i waited. To end the interaction, they also gave me a Okini reusable back for my to-go order. A lot of businesses are missing out on that excellent customer service, but Okini is not. Please stop in to try some delicious sushi and cocktails!!!
We've only ordered delivery from here until today. The food is even better here piping hot from the back. I started with the crab rangoons & pork belly... And finished with the sizzling seafood deluxe entree. My daughter had chews mussels, sea unagi, and tonkotsu ramen. The place has a nice chill vibe. I tried to take pics but remembered after I had already eaten a piece because it looked so good. One warning is that parking it better at a meter on the street. The parking lot is tiny.
We ordered takeout from here and overall it was really tasty! I was super disappointed that we ordered the curry chicken katsu and it came without the Japanese curry sauce which is the best part, so the chicken was dry. But overall the potstickers, mapo tofu and udon noodles were all delish as well as the miso soup and salad that came with the entrees. We would definitely be back.

Today, I tried takeout, and they were consistent with the quality and presentation of the sushi. The seaweed was so fresh, there was still a slight crunch to it. My 15-yr-old son and I were feeling adventurous and wanted to find a new ramen spot in the city. We landed at Okini and I am glad we did. It's a hip looking and cozy spot located where the old 3501 Seoul Korean spot once was. We were seated and greeted with a smile and our server was awesome. I started off with the Stuffed Jalapeno appetizer. Whoa!!! It so so flavorful and well presented. My son selected Crab Rangoon as his starter. Considering he chooses this at almost every Asian restaurant that offers it (lol), he was satisfied. The true test was the ramen, which totally passed the vibe and flavor tests. The bowl was piping hot and ratio of broth to noodles was perfect! Everything was fresh. Okini's interpretation is consistent with what you find in big cities like LA and New York. Their ramen is definitely in the top three of my favorites in the city. If you love ramen like I and my son (The Ramen Guru) do, get here!
Though the presentation is beyond exquisite. Like a work of art, the food left a lot to be desired. The fish was lacking flavor and freshness unfortunately. For the price, I did expect higher quality fish. Service and ambience are however terrific.
We had a great first experience here, but our second experience was very different. We had been so excited to try this place again after the great foood we had, but immediately the second visit was not living up to the first time. The service was mediocre and the server was hard to find. She was mainly sitting in a booth on her phone instead of serving us. The food (two sushi rolls and calamari) tasted great.... But then we both ended up getting sick later that night. We cannot say it was for sure from this food, but it was odd that we both got sick about 2 hours after eating here. Unfortunately this has ruined our perception of the restaurant and will not be back.
Looking for something new, we tried Okini Asian Cuisine in Hyde Park. It was bitter cold outside and we were among the few diners this evening. Service was prompt and friendly. The dining room was clean and the projected large scale aquarium was awesome. We went simple with Chicken Katsu Curry and Pho. The Curry came with soup, salad, and white rice. Fragrant and flavorful, the Curry was a hit. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Tender and juicy. The Pho started out kind of flavorless. But after some doctoring with the provided additives, the flavor woke up. The pho had shrimp, squid, sliced beef, and Meatballs. The beef was loaded with flavor. The shrimp and squid were all texture, no real taste. As for the meatballs, while they tasted fine, they seemed like the kind you buy at the grocery store in the frozen meal aisle. Overall, the food was good. We'll go back again, I will just avoid the pho. Kudos for the Claw machine tokens, the scratch off discount card, and the great carryout bag! One star removed for the weird meatball and the parking lot from hell. Park on the street if you can. It'll save you a great deal of frustration.
I saw this restaurant while driving through the area and it caught my eye. They have great lunch specials, so I knew I had to try this place. My partner and I ordered the 3 roll lunch special and ramen lunch special. The gyoza was pretty standard. I found the tonkotsu ramen to be bland, but enjoyed the variety of toppings. Out of the rolls I ordered, my favorite was the Bengals Roll. The sweet shrimp nigiri was also good. The service was great. The server gave us a scratch off for the restaurant and we got free edamame. They also gave us 2 tokens for their claw machine, which was a nice touch. Will definitely be back and look forward to trying their other options.
I live near Okini and was really wanting to like it, but was left unimpressed. We tried it Friday evening for dinner. The ambiance looked like it could be cool with dark walls and LED lights, but they left the over head light turned up like a diner. The staff was meh. They did not explain the menu very well, the iPads that they take the orders on slows down service, few gluten free options, and there were kids running in and out of the kitchen. We had ramen, stir fry, a rainbow roll, and yakitori. The sushi was meh, not well rolled and fell apart in the soy sauce dish. The stir fry was bland. Raman was good. And yakitori (beef and asparagus) was really good. The place was very clean. And the crane game at was a good add. Will try again and update. Hopefully it improves. Looking fwd to trying the patio. Net: I have a hard tine recommending to anyone i know. They are still new so they are working out kinks. I'm giving 3 stars with upside. Came here with the family. My kids loved the gyoza dumplings and ate 4 orders among them. I decided to try to dim sum which really was only okay (or barely okay). The sushi I tried was good, and if I had ordered that I would probably be giving it 4 stars. They gave us tokens to try our luck on the claw machine on the way out which was fun.
Came here for Christmas dinner and instantly noticed how clean it was. Beautiful interior & I love the octopus on the wall! Our waitress was very kind and attentive the entire meal. We ordered: tuna volcano, crab Rangoon, fatty tuna nigiri, wagyu skewers, and 3 different sushi rolls. Everything was presented beautifully & tasted fantastic! Highly impressed. After dinner they gave us tokens to play the claw machine and we won. It was cute & fun! I hope this play stays because it's definitely the best raw fish I've had in this area. 10/10

We had lunch at Okini Asian Cuisine on a Monday. We were there when they opened. We were the only customers until someone came in for a pick-up order just as we were leaving. The ambiance is casual chic. I loved the lighting, both those hanging from the ceiling and the changing colors on the back wall. Our server was very attentive and sweet. We managed to order a lot of food and most of it was excellent. We were treated to a trio of Spanish peanuts, slightly spicy cucumber and pickled onions that were quite tasty. Taking a taste of each together was a great bite. It was a fun start to the meal. We stared with two appetizers: Stuffed Jalapeños and Chili Dumplings. The stuffed jalapeños were fantastic! I expected them to be spicy hot, but they were not. The stuffing was delicious and each bite was delectable. We highly recommend them. The chili dumplings were also very good, though we've had better. These were spicy, but not overly so. They were good and I'd order them again. Mark ordered one of the lunch specials that offered three rolls. They were good. He liked some better than others. I ordered Sashimi Deluxe, which came with a salad and miso soup. The soup was nice. I liked the dressing on the salad and used it more as a palate cleanser between bites of sashimi rather than relying on the ginger. The sashimi was also hit and miss. The pieces were large, with each easily being twice the size you might find at other establishments. None of them, however, melted in my mouth nor did they elicit yummy sounds. We had dessert. I had Tiramisu cake and Mark had Mango Mousse. His mousse was so good! The tiramisu cake was good, but not outstanding. Both desserts came with strawberries, that were fresh and sweet, and a little scoop of ice cream. I mentioned it was my birthday (because it was) and they gave us my tiramisu case at no charge. That was so sweet! When our server came with the check, she also gave us a token each for the claw machine. What fun! We didn't win a prize, but we won some fun on our way out. We both decided we'd come back without hesitation. We are looking forward to trying ramen next time. read more

I like the ambience and the presentation of their food! I've been coming here since before new ownership and the food has always been great :) Please order the red bean taiyaki!!! As someone who has been to Japan, it was so nice to eat it white it was piping hot and crispy! Don't care if it's from the freezer, I've been to so many other restaurants that won't go the extra mile to grill/fry it so I really appreciate that Okini does. read more

Loved everything about it! We do a monthly dinner with our neighbors, and this is the seventh place we've been. Hands down THE favorite of the group. The ambiance is perfect, has a great bar, and the service is on point. I'm not a huge sushi fan, but I loved the dragon roll, donburi rice, potstickers.... and everyone else loved it all + some. Highly recommend! read more

IMO the best sushi in Hyde Park. We had a Mango Kani salad-very fresh and clean tasting.Would prefer a little more mango but this was a 10 out of 10 for me.The Cali and yum yum roll were also very delicious but we are obsessed with the Oli roll!!! So crunchy and filling.I love that the rolls are made with the right amount of rice-not too much or little.The Wing Yakitori was very tasty. We loved the service and the place is immaculate.Very clean and decorated so cute.The mural outside is beautiful and I can't wait to sit in the patio. Music was a little too upbeat for me. Doesn't match the ambiance but didn't care about it too much.The parking is very limited but you will love a little stroll in the neighborhood. Love love this place. read more

First time dining at Okini before the Life of Pi show, and it was an incredible experience. The atmosphere was amazing, and I particularly loved the saltwater aquarium at the entrance that greeted us as we arrived. We received a warm welcome from the staff right away. To start, we had edamame as an appetizer, along with some banchan to snack on. We also ordered hot sake and Japanese beer to drink. For the main course, my mother enjoyed the sizzling seafood deluxe, which came with miso soup and a house salad, while I had the spicy tuna roll paired with the dragon roll. read more

I have dined both in-restaurant and by takeout. Both times have been an amazing experience with Okini. The staff is so friendly and the food is delicious, especially considering its affordability! I would highly recommend enjoying the restaurant in person because of the casual but upscale ambiance. This is a great spot for date night and the meal that I crave every Friday after work. read more

Sushi was the best I've had in a long time. Came on a Sunday evening, very quiet. Ordered Bengals roll, Diube 12 roll, and Crazy Monkey roll. First two were delicious. I was nervous about the Crazy Monkey as it's deep fried (last experience I had elsewhere with deep fried Sunday Morning was disgusting); however, here it was perfectly fried and light. I HIGHLY recommend it! This is definite my new go-to sushi restaurant in Cincinnati. read more
