Ordered takeout for a sick/snow day and this may have cured me. The broth was so yummy and the perfect temperature. The egg was cooked to perfection and all of the other toppings brought it to the next level
I've been SO many times, this place seriously never misses! I have the best ramen with great flavor and nice appetizers every single time. The service is quick and very attentive on refills and anything else you could need. The interior is cute with lots of decor and banners and spacious tables. Definitely a little chilly, I always bring an extra jacket!
Newly opened, a decent spot in the Oakley area across from the Kroger parking lot with a decent amount of parking and inside the seating is spaced out enough with some booths and table seating. The service has been good during our visits and you can find sushi, Hibachi and rice dishes, along with the Ramen offerings. Taste wise, the food has been flavorful and one the warm weather hits, there is also outside seating available as well.
I've ordered take out before but this is my first time coming in person to this location. Came in a Friday night after a work happy hour across the street at Madtree. It was not too busy and we got seated right away. There is also parking in front and the side so easy to park in the strip mall plaza. I ordered the curry chicken katsu Don with a spicy Japanese yellow curry sauce and my friend got the Shoyu ramen. We also got the Takoyaki appetizer. This was my first time trying Takoyaki. It was cool to have the shaved bacon bits on top that curled up from the heat. They are octopus filled dough balls and were very flavorful and delicious. I really enjoyed my curry chicken katsu Don meal but wish there was more Japanese curry as it was too little for the amount of breaded chicken and then is so plain. I really loved the curry as it was spicy and just the right amount of spice to enjoy. It is a curry that tastes like an Indian/Japanese fusion curry and is thick and hearty. There should be some other garnishes and sauces to go with this dish but it was still good. The waitress was very efficient and friendly. The food came out quickly as well (as we were starving after a few drinks across the street). I will definitely be back to try the ramen as my friends ramen bowl looked so delicious and smelled amazing. I want to be back to try more of the menu items.
Has really good authentic Japanese foods and a huge menu selection of different variety of foods! I really enjoyed all the appetizers. The restaurant is open kitchen layout so you can see the food being prepped and cooked. Service was amazing! We arrived towards the end of the noon shift and they still offered us seats and food!
Casual eating space , and great for work lunch . I went to the Oakley location right before their lunch closing . Everything was fresh and hot . Service was efficient and was a great day to sit outside . I have to try the ramen next time but the Chicken curry udon was great providing just enough spice. The noodles are a little thicker which make great with the breaded chicken. They are closed 2:30-4:30 so watch the time . Otherwise no fluff , just good cuisine.
All the ra ra about the ramen is confirmed- it is eggcellent!! We got the miso and tonkatsu ramen and the hot sake and green tea. The miso ramen was flavorful and the service was so quick. I love the ramen mural, it's so detailed and colorful. The restaurant is fast casual but very comfortable and clean. Perfect for rainy dates or takeout.
My weekly spot for ramen! interior looks way more attractive now!! now serve the Sushi and hibachi Menu. The service is always good. The Spicy Tonkatsu ramen was creamy and rich without being salty. Not being overly salty is important to me, and this checked the mark. My Friend as a vegetarian, it's always tough to find good ramen spots that have flavorful broths. He was pleasantly surprised by the Vegetable Ramen here! The broth was very tasty and many other vegetarian ramen to choice from. Next time will try the sushi menu.
If I could give this place 3.5 stars I would. It's in a large shopping complex and the inside feels relatively new and generic. Not a huge place but we went for lunch on a weekday and got a table right away. We got the okonomiyaki and soft shell crab for appetizers. I got the spicy tonkatsu ramen for my main course. The soft shell crab was quite saturated in oil and not super flavorful. The okonomiyaki was mostly soggy as well. The spicy ramen had a decent spice but was a bit too salty. Overall, if you want ramen and you happen to be close by, this would be an okay choice. Not sure I would seek it out though.
Although I've been a regular pho eater for damn near three decades and have consumed literally hundreds of bowls of the stuff, I'm still a ramen neophyte. I'm not sure that I've had even two dozen bowls of the latter. But I'd like to make up for lost time: There's been a tidal wave of ramen in the United States in recent years, and its surge has has definitely reached Cincinnati, so we've been diving in. Genki is a local ramen chain that sort of sneaked up on us. We'd been partial to Osaka out in Anderson Township in 2021 and early 2022, but it began to backslide a bit as staffing shortages hit the restaurant industry, and it didn't take much to get us to check out Genki's Oakley Station location as another option. So far, Genki's product has been consistent and satisfying. Everything I've tried has been pretty great, and I can recommend these three without hesitation, especially if you like spicy heat: spicy tonkotsu (a standby with pork broth and ground pork), tantan (inspired by Sichuan dandan noodles), and Spicy Miso Paitan (big portion of tender grilled chicken). Is it actually great ramen? Hell if I know, as I simply lack the experience with ramen to judge with full confidence. But by Cincinnati standards, it's certainly got big flavors and is a solid value, and good enough for me to have an occasional craving for. The decor here is nondescript and the lighting quite bright, but it's comfortable and spacious enough. Servers have been very pleasant and helpful so far. A minus is the music, which can be pretty terrible--a lot of overwrought and histrionic-sounding pop--but the volume is not obtrusive. Genki does a nice job packing up carry-out orders, when we've gone that route, and the website is really easy to use and our orders are always ready on time. I don't know if Genki is still pretending to be an izakaya, but it isn't one: It probably has fewer apps or snacks than the standard Japanese restaurant, much less an izakaya that might have a few dozen items to sample. (But for what it's worth, the seaweed salad comes in a large portion at a reasonable price.)
WOULD EAT HERE AGAIN! Let's start with clean atmosphere simple small dining in area. All food is served fresh! My favorite was the chicken curry katsudon. But we also had the octopus balls, spicy chicken ramen and I had the genki ramen that was spicy but it was so good. We also had the gyoza. The service was so friendly and fast she was personable too. Food is tasty as expected generous portions. Idk why I only left 4 stars before.

I like spicy food and the other critique I would have is that it wasn't as spicy as I would have liked, however I know peoples spice preferences are different. I went out to grab to go since I wasn't feeling up to sitting inside but there are plenty of seats inside to sit to have a nice date night. We got an appetizer of green gyoza which were the best I've had in a long time. The ramen was incredibly filling with the amount of soup they fill in each bowl. Since we got to go, we ordered at the register and it did not take very long to grab our food for home. We were able to have a short walk and come back to ready food where they were very sweet in remembering who we were and what we ordered.
It was our first time here and heard good things. There's plenty of parking outside and a decent amount inside. It was pretty busy for a Sunday afternoon. It's lively, bright, and simply decorated inside. I got the Genki Shoyu and it was delicious! The broth is flavored deliciously, salty and slightly sweet. The toppings are plenty and the noodles were filling. I really enjoyed this bowl. Their jammy egg was made perfectly and cooked so well. We also got the wings and we were very disappointed. I didn't get a picture, but they were tiny and one biters. I think the flavor on the wings could have been but overall, just decent. The vegetarian gyozas we're delicious and very flavorful, I could eat dozens. Staff was nice, a bit busy and distracted but it was okay, it was a busy day. I would recommend for a good bowl of ramen, it was made well and filling. I would recommend for a causal date, family outing, small groups, or a hot bowl of soup on a cold night.

This place was located within walking distance of my hotel. I was seated right away. Lots of booth seating. My waitress was sweet and attentive. I ordered the chicken yakisoba and spicy salmon roll (fried). I like to try yakisoba from different places and this one was top of the line for sure. Everything about the dish was perfect. The sushi was delish as well. I wish I would've tried them sooner before I had to leave. read more
Been to a few different ramen places in the area over the years. I was told this one wasn't the best. But I finally had to try it out. Went to lunch on a weekday when I didn't have any work meetings and decided to try it out. Service was extremely friendly and she was always making sure that I was taking care of. I had these spicy tonkatsu and it was delicious! Really good. Definitely didn't get any bad feelings at all from this place. So giving it five Stars! I feel like it earned it. Looking forward to trying some more food in the future. Ambiance was very comfortable and it's close to one of my favorite hot chicken places. Definitely planning to return! read more
Food was pretty good (I had ramen) but my friend didn't love his chicken / rice meal. It's in a popular area with plenty to do nearby. I liked the interior but the bathrooms could be a little better. The soap dispenser was weird and they only had a hand dryer available. Staff was nice, at least! read more

Great ramen and sides and interior with plenty of options to choose from. | Cost per Person $23 l Rating 9/10 Pros: Price, portions, selection. Cons: Closed mid day (check hours) Got ramen for lunch and were seated quickly. Requested to sit outside and liked the fenced in well lit spot. Service was a bit slow but I think us being the only ones outside caused some confusion. Food was excellent! I enjoyed the fries that were lightly sweet and the ramen was full of ingredients as well as perfect noodle and egg consistency. Happier than with plenty of other ramen places. Would stop by again just check their hours closely because they close for a few hours mid day. read more

I was in the area and saw this ramen near where I was. I love a good ramen and this was good. I first had the Takoyaki appetizer. It's a fried ball with octopus in there. It was very good as this was the first time I tried it. For those who have an issue with texture, I don't think you will like these. Since this was my first time here, I went with the tonkotsu broth. It was very good and the presentation was good. For dessert I went with the mochi ice cream I will be back to try other things read more

Genki Ramen is a go-to favorite of mine! The food is always delicious and I always get one of the teriyaki dishes, but this time it was a bit saltier than usual: it was still pretty good though! My parents got the Miso Ramen and the Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen. The both said each of their ramen was especially tasty and has become their now favorites ! The service was good, fast, and reliable and our drinks were never empty. The music selection was well chosen and the staff was very friendly. I'll always recommend Genki Ramen for good food!! read more

I was expecting this to be more of a Chipotle style restaurant and was surprised when it was a fancier sit down. That being said, service was pretty bad. It took a while before anyone came to give us water and it was hard to get a server to return to the table after that. I'd give 1 star for service. My husband got the curry chicken katsudon and honestly this was the best Japanese curry I've had outside of my Japanese friends making it for me. It was delicious! I did think it was odd the meal was called a "rice bowl" but there was no bowl - it was very much deconstructed. Would've been easier to eat if it all came in a bowl but it looked nice for presentation. I had the tonkotsu ramen. It was good, but honestly every time I eat ramen I wish it was pho, haha. It wasn't my favorite but that's because of my preference, not quality of the food. Next time I would get the curry chicken katsu instead. We also had the gyoza which I LOVE anywhere I go. My favorite is still at LuLus in Springdale but this is a close second! They were very tasty. read more

Food was good but service was a little sketchy. Waited at the door for awhile and we're about to seat ourselves when a cook noticed us and sent someone out. Took forever fa server to come over. Brought us water but didn't offer us any other drinks. Brought out the appetizer and one bowl of ramen and then the other two bowls of ramen much later. read more

Stopped by for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. The service was a little lackluster but the food made up for it. The edamame was nice and spicy and the ramen itself had a nice rich chicken broth and good toppings. The noodles had a little chew to them which I really enjoy in my ramen. read more

I was in need of ramen, specifically Spicy Tonkotsu ramen. I'd never tried Genki Ramen Izakaya before but was excited to try it. I called in my pick up order. The person I spoke to was very polite and assisted me with modifying one of my order items to fit the needs of a relative. He recommended the regular Tonkotsu ramen. I was able to substitute the pork for chicken. I only ordered 2 orders of ramen. It took about 15-20 min to fix. The process from ordering to paying to receiving my order was pretty streamline. The spicy Tonkotsu ramen was really good. I highly recommend it. There are sooo many ramen options at this location though that I definitely see myself returning for dine in service to try other menu items. I arrived a bit early and had the chance to check out the dining area. The atmosphere is pretty chill...definitely family friendly. The setup is nice for lunch or dinner. From what I saw, the dine in experience did appear to be more traditional with servers and real dishes and such. That's something I'll keep in mind to for when I return. Long story short, I highly recommend. read more
I wanted to like this place more, but the service was average and food could be better. I always order takoyaki when it's on the menu and Genki's is as good as other restaurants. The ramen could have been better. We ordered the Shogo (seafood) and Tonkotsu ramen. Both the broths were good and not too salty. My complaint is that the noodles weren't fully cooked and the soft boiled egg was overcooked. read more
This restaurant is very accessible and clean. I find the decor and siding in the bathrooms, beautifully clean. The times I have been here I have been greeted and sat promptly. The food has also come out quickly. I have shared the ramen bowls and ordered appetizers. This has been a great opportunity to experience multiple dishes. I recommend ordering the salted edamame over the garlic, spicy edamame, because with the ramen, and in this case, pancake appetizer, there ended up being too many bold flavors, and several options with sticky sauce on top. This would've provided more balance to the meal and I think I would've enjoyed it more. The ramen was very flavorful and well-balanced. It had a very strong beef bones flavor that I wasn't quite prepared for, but it was not lacking. The balance between broth, noodles, vegetables, and protein was excellent. I did prefer another pork bowl over this one simply because the flavor was more for my palette. The pancake, which I was thrilled we ordered because I enjoyed it so much more than I would've ever thought, was something the waitress recommended, who was absolutely lovely by the way. I would to order this again, however, I did prefer it with some of the sauce removed. Can recommend! read more

Nice dining experience here- Sunday dinner with a few friends. Service was fine, a little slow at times but we were not in a rush. Appetizers were good- tried the karaage and takoyaki. Ordered the shoyu paitan ramen and it was okay, a good serving size but lacked a bit of flavor for me. Next time I want to try other dishes and see if there is something I may like more. read more
I had a very nice first experience here. I came with some girlfriends and got a table right away. Had timely service. And all the food came out looking very good. And everything I tasted had a very good flavor. I had the Tantan Ramen. It mentions that it has some heat but I would not say it was too much heat. However if you like a lot of heat, you might ask for extra. If I can handle it that means it's not super spicy. I will come back and try some other items soon. read more
Meeting a friend for dinner here on a late Sunday was a pleasant experience. Both of us had looked over the menu and didn't really know what we wanted so we asked the waitress when she arrived and she broke down her favorite dishes for us. We went with the spicy pork and spicy chicken ramen as well as the chicken karrage. The karrage came out first, with a very light but flavorful fry and two sauces that perked up the overall flavor quite a bit. Normally not a big fried chicken fan but this was a good selection. The ramen dishes came out closely after, typing hot and loaded up with goodies. We both greatly enjoyed it, and I would say it's in the running for some of the best ramen I've had in the city, well worth going back for, I see many return visits in my future! read more

Wow, just wow. I've heard so many good things about Genki and I'm going to be honest, they met my expectations! The chicken katsu was perfectly crispy and flavorful, you could eat it by itself. The curry's spice was perfect (I like really spicy). Can't wait to come back and try more! Maybe I'll have their ramen next time. read more
