The experience of this place reminded me, once again, DO NOT EAT ASIAN FOOD IN OHIO, especially Sushi, not only far from authentic, it was horrible. From the empty restaurant, immature service, to bad attitude, to awefully made sushi rice.... The waitress did not tell us she was new, and did not bother to clarify anything with us while taking our orders, and acted like she got it all. BUT when she put in our orders, it was ALL screwed up. After we waited forever, wrong order came, she talked to the "manager", the manager did not bother to confirm anything with us, instead just put in another random item on behalf of us LOL, what a joke, then brought it to us, and said, I put this in based on our avocado roll order, which is the only thing came out right. we did not eat any of the items they gave us that was wrong, the experience itself already made me lost my appetite. SERVICE SERVICE SERVICE ... I cannot say it enough, this is the ONE thing that differentiates a good restaurant from the rest. I should've known....ugh
I found this place on Yelp during a trip to Cincy which landed me at a hotel right across the street. After browsing through their menu I decided to go ahead and order some takeout. It was easy because I could order directly through their Yelp page. I placed an order for veggie spring rolls, a house salad, the Wild Summer roll, and rock salt shrimp. It was ready in about 30 minutes and goodness, it was a lot of food. I had enough left over for a snack later in my trip and it came out to about $35. The spring rolls came as an order of four. They were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The rock salt shrimp came with jalapenos, which made it a bit spicy, but the yum-yum sauce was the perfect condiment for it. The house salad was basic, like what you would expect, with a yummy ginger dressing. The sushi roll was enormous and I couldn't even come close to finishing it. Thankfully my hotel room had a fridge. I can totally recommend this spot. Word on the Yelp street is that 3.5 stars for sushi/Asian fusion restaurants is the sweet spot.
I had lunch today following some shopping downtown Cincinnati. You can find Mr Sushi on 6th street in the 580 building. At about 1:30pm the place was a bit deserted so I choose to sit at the bar. I started with a salad topped with ginger dressing, followed by some sushi. I really enjoyed the fresh sushi. I finished with the Bibimbap wish is a bowl of fresh lettuce, rice, mushrooms, spinach, chicken... and more. A sriracha sauce came on the side so you could pick your level of spice. The combination had a great fresh flavor. Service, location, and food were great - ambiance could have been better - I guess I just missed the lunch crowed. I would do this again.
Came in for lunch on a Tuesday, our server D was fantastic. It was only us and one other couple when we arrived but when we left at just before 1pm, every table was filled. The ramen was delicious, pork was still tender. My significant other said that was the best bento box he's ever had (he's had a lot). Lunch menu pricing is very reasonable. The place was also very nice, not "hole in the wall" but also not upscale. Perfect balance for us as we were in our hiking gear, surrounded by those in work attire. We did not get sushi this time, but we will next time!

Overall, I enjoyed my lunch and I would recommend this place to anyone who was having a sushi craving. My one small suggestion/complaint was the very large slices of cucumber in my spicy tuna roll. They were so large they over powered any and all flavor of the tuna and make it more of a cucumber roll than anything. The fish was fresh and had great flavor, as well as pretty good portions. The rolls were flavorful and had a great presentation. My waitress was also very good about checking in on me, and making sure I had plenty of water.

Located close to a bunch of other dining options but if you want a quick bite and you're in the mood for sushi, you're in the right place. Mr. Sushi is a very good deal and the greetings were welcoming and the service was consistently attentive: - Over the course of two days, involving different shifts, involving different staff, we were pleased by the service. - thumbs up to the staff and mgmt., you are all on the same team. The sushi is 50 percent off while dining in and the ingredients were fresh and filling. The presentation was very neat and uniform. I also like the interesting names of some of the rolls. The futomaki was very tightly rolled and full of sushi goodness.
We have this spot a second try. The first timer thought it was okay. Last night though, we really liked it! Our service was very friendly. The sushi was incredibly fresh, and we love that it is in the downtown business district. I felt the sashimi portions were solid (some 1/2 price places make them extra skinny). We'll be back!
After eating this sushi, I'm not sure if I live in Cincinnati or smack dab in the middle of the ocean!!! My boyfriend and I have gone here at least twice a week since we moved here (yeah, we're a little clingy with our sushi). Some of our favorites: Crazy Cali Roll, Southwestern (without jalapeños), the Play Boy, and the Fire Scallop. This is a great gem in Downtown Cinci, and pretty affordable as well! Mr. Sushi is shrimply the best
I recently ordered carryout at Mr. Sushi with a friend who resides in the building. My friend suggested that we did not order there but I was tempted proximity and hopefully timeliness. However I wish I would I have listen to them. We ordered the Chicken Teriyaki bento box, chicken fried rice, and salmon and tuna Nigiri. Unfortunately, the chicken in all items appeared very pale and undercooked, causing concern about its safety. Additionally, the Nigiri had about half the usual serving of rice. The Chicken Teriyaki bento box was notably lacking in variety, featuring a side of steamed rice, two pieces of California roll, a single piece of broccoli, a halved spring roll, and only one dumpling. I believe there is room for improvement in presentation, food safety and portion sizes.
Staff is always friendly. Very clean and the sushi is fantastic. Right across from Fountain Square. My go-to for my sushi fix!!

Great sushi restaurant located in Downtown Cincinnati! When we have sushi craving, this is our place! They have limited outdoor seating, but they do have plenty of seats inside. Their food is great, and we have had a good experience with the service. The reasoning for the 4/5 stars is due to the interior of the restaurant. Seems a bit run down, and could use some TLC. Other than that, we love it here!
I visited Mr Sushi on a Monday afternoon during a work trip. The place appeared to be clean and well-lit. They have a number of tables and booths, too, plus a bar. I ordered a Play Girl roll and two salmon rolls. The Play Girl was a big roll, and quite tasty with a lot of flavors. The salmon rolls were, of course, smaller but really brought out the simple goodness of the salmon. The service was incredibly fast. Mr Sushi's prices are high; however, they've got a special at this location for 50% off sushi rolls from 4 or 6pm (can't remember) until closing. With this kind of discount, the rolls be come reasonable. My three rolls were approximately $23 total. read more
Honestly, just okay. Came by on a Saturday night late, so it was pretty empty, so I was happy that service was quick and efficient. The food did not impress me - the Southwest roll was just alright and the Tonkotsu ramen was extremely average and didn't have much depth to it. Pricing is also not particularly cheap. I hate giving a bad review, but I just would not recommend this restaurant. I should have known better, because half off sushi is never really a good thing, but I was really hoping to be pleasantly surprised. I decided to order the sashimi dinner anyway, which was not part of the 50% off special. First, there were about 4 other customers in the restaurant. Yet, the service was very. very slow. The waiter was very nice when he remembered to come to my table, but the wait was frustrating. It would have been OK if he was busy, but he sat at the bar watcjing the game with someone that seemed to be his boss- maybe the owner. So, the service was terrible. Then the miso and salad came out, and it was bland and disappointing. The sashimi was pretty and plentiful for the price, but this is definitely a quantity over quality place. The fish tasted thawed, and lacked any real flavor. I wouldn't go back, but it wasn't a terrible experience... just not a good one either. read more

Great for sushi with almost half off discounts late night. Convenient central location and reasonably fresh food served, available for carry out as well as eating in, served within ten minutes for a group of 4. There were several types of sushi available on the menu, I enjoyed a Californian and an Alaskan roll which were both delicious! Would likely check out again for sit down dining if in Cincinnati again and in the mood for sushi. read more

Small spot in the heart of the business district. This was the best tasting sushi, freshest tasting fish we've had in Cincy so far! Each of the rolls were fantastic, favorite two: crazy California and southwestern (minus the jalepenos- a wee bit too spicy for this Italian boy). And definitely have some napkins handy if you order the Volcano! They seemed slightly understaffed but covered down on each other well! Half priced after 4 pm, stop in there for some signature rolls! read more

Service is always very efficient. My complaint is the issue with not being able to modify any sushi rolls based on the language barrier issue. We've been told by a waitress that we have to be very specific with the sushi chef or they will not have any idea what to make. Tonight I asked for a roll to be made vegan, I even suggested what veggies to substitute but was told no. There is no reason the answer should be no. Also, they can't make gluten free pad Thai. Their rolls are fresh and the specialty rolls my husband ordered were enormous. read more
TLDR: Great half price sushi, good quality rolls, attentive service. Nothing to complain about! Ok, I love all kinds of mango rolls, so don't judge. There will always be mangoes in my life. Half price sushi is the way to go. They have half price sushi after 4pm everyday, such a steal! It's dine in only and doesn't include takeout. I got 3 rolls (2 specialty and 1 regular) and 4 nigiri for about $32. I ended up taking most of my rolls home (classic case of "eyes bigger than my stomach"). I got the K.S. Roll, the mango tango, and the salmon skin roll. K.S. roll: love it. I love torched salmon and shrimp tempura. My paradise. Mango Tango: I didn't like it (They were very accommodating and let me have the roll not deep fried). I didn't like the mashed mango on top, I would rather it be sliced mango. I also didn't think it matched very well with the fish inside. I should have ordered the Mango Samba which is shrimp tempura on the inside, but since I already got the KS roll that has shrimp tempura, I opted for the Mango Tango. Salmon skin roll: nothing to complain about. The salmon skin was fried fresh and was still warm and crispy when the roll came. My go-to regular roll. The nigiri were all fresh and of decent quality. I will definitely be coming back a lot since I live so close! read more
Completely forget about the downtown location. After an extensive wait at Wabi then Corner Bistro not, understandably so, doing dine in decided to go here. For the most part empty but service was quite slow and place kind of disheveled. Had to clean the table/area myself and I guess by being located at a great building with high ceilings much cobwebs and dust bunnies. They have some of the most unique roll concepts in this strong half-price sushi region and decided to try one (Mango Samba). For sure would visit again and try their other unique rolls. read more

Mr. Sushi is a fairly good sushi restaurant in Cincinnati. I am here for business travel, so I haven't had too many Asian cuisine in the state. However, Mr. Sushi is a major step up the more 'fast food' Fusian and is comparable to other mid-tier sushi restaurants. There was a decent dinner menu that had dishes along the lines of pad thai, soba noodles, to bibimbap. The menu is a fusion of various Asian cultures, which is nice if you're looking for other options in addition to Japanese. I will likely return to try these dishes, as I mainly focused on sushi in this specific visit. The sushi menu is extensive (again, impressive for the city of Cincinnati) and offers different varieties of rolls that many are familiar with like California, Alaskan, and Mango Tango. In addition, there are raw fish (nigiri/sashimi) options for those who are true sushi connoisseurs. I ordered a few salmon, mackerels, etc. and it was decent. Not the best, but it does the job. The total for my dinner and tab came out to mid-20's - fairly reasonable for the assortments of fish, sushi rolls, and a Sapporo beer. All in all, I look forward to returning to Mr. Sushi because of its variety, ambiance, and better than average Asian cuisine that I cannot seem to find in this city. read more

Well well well, Cincinatti, your sushi game is ON POINT! I needed to fulfill a sushi craving during a brief trip, Mr. Sushi came up on Yelp because it was a block from my hotel, so off I went. 50% off if you dine-in, 20% off if you take-out. FRESH, DELICIOUS, AMAZING. I got the seafood salad appetizer which was PACKED PACKED PACKED with fresh sashimi and shrimp, the spicy tuna over crispy rice (totally bomb), and a few pieces of sashimi. $37 later and I was filled to the gills, pun intended. The service is great too. I walked in to do a carry out order and the employees were really friendly and attentive, not to mention my food was ready in less than 10 minutes. read more
