Came in for lunch and ordered the sashimi, seaweed salad and a spicy tuna hand roll. The sashimi was huge for a lunch portion with well over the stated q5 pieces on the menu and each cut was also quite large. The selections were all good with the exception of the tamago (egg) which was not prepared properly and just seemed to be a solid egg omelet instead of folded layers. The seaweed salad was your standard premade fare and the spicy tuna was just okay as it was over-sauced and you really couldn't taste the tuna. Have been going here for a while and for a good reason! The interior of the place is very clean. It's not a huge place but offers a generous amount of seating. There is an outside patio as well. The staff have always been nothing but friendly towards me! Our waitress, Ina, made our experience even better! She was really helpful with the menu & chose us some of her favorite sushi rolls. Really good sushi and great quality too! I ate in for lunch, they have the tables well spaced out and you're not near anyone. I did the gyoza and then a random mix of nigiri (tuna, eel, and shrimp). I have never had service this bad or left a yelp review or any review EVER but this experience genuinely left me speechless. Sammie was the worst server ever and I would never consider name dropping but the level or rudeness, dishonesty, and disrespect. We waited around 20 minutes for our two soft drinks and was treated with a rude tone from the start. She placed three unordered items on our tab then tried to blame this incident on us stating "well since we have them someone is going to pay and it's going on the table." After we stated these were not ours she stormed off then returned saying "Here's a lesson, do not hand in order cards if you do not want the items." We did not order any of the items and she would not double check the order card to confirm once again that we did not order these items. We did not eat the unordered items and offered for them to be returned multiple times. These unordered items were placed on our bill despite this. We were so humiliated we signaled for the manager. The manager talked with our server, Sammie and she produces a new bill that is even more messed up. She charged my friend who snitched $120 dollars for a tab that was suppose to be $30. She added new additional items to my other friends tabs and scrambled the items between the two tabs despite us writing the itemized items per person on the receipt to help her out. She stated that people "do just not understand hospitality in this age" and did not apologize once even in the presence of her manager who was extremely nice and apologetic. She refused to apologize or take personal responsibility stating that she did not place the additional charges on our tab (blaming every external factor, not her error) and stated that because of us she "will be out of a job tomorrow." I needed to fulfill a sushi craving during a brief trip, Mr. Sushi came up on Yelp because it was a block from my hotel, so off I went. 50% off if you dine-in, 20% off if you take-out. FRESH, DELICIOUS, AMAZING. I got the seafood salad appetizer which was PACKED PACKED PACKED with fresh sashimi and shrimp, the spicy tuna over crispy rice (totally bomb), and a few pieces of sashimi. $37 later and I was filled to the gills, pun intended. Came here for a quick dinner since I was craving some sushi. I had low expectations so I was pleasantly surprised. You walk in and it's nothing fancy but the service is friendly and warm. The roll menu is a bit overwhelming so I opted to just get sushi/sashimi pieces which were 1/2 off after a certain hour. Overall, it was pretty good for the 1/2 price. Ok, my husband and I have a little different view of this restaurant. He would have dropped the stars to four. However, he isn't reviewing so I get to decide. . What a great place! It's in such a great location downtown, was easy to get to and really gives patrons a cool urban experience. The restaurant is very clean and the decor is #trending. Now, onto the food! The prices were fantastic. I'm sorry but they can't be beat! Especially on a Friday night. The drinks were crazy expensive but we ordered four colossal rolls for $33 and were a stuffed party of 3! I should mention that this place has a full bar and the drinks were pretty fantastic. I would drive an hour to Cincinnati just to eat here again! Now, for the best part. There is a waiter here that looks just like Evan Peters. You may not know who that is but I'm kind of obsessed with this phenomenal actor and could not believe the uncanny resemblance. Courtney was our waitress and provided great advice, kept our drinks filled and was very quick bringing our food. My first experience here was very average.... the sushi is decent but not spectacular. However I gave them another shot recently and ordered steak hibachi. Not only did I pay 20 dollars for it.... the meat was dry, hard and hardly warm. The miso soup was far too salty and the salad was more dressing than salad. Great food and value for the price. When you are craving sushi downtown I suggest Mr. Sushi for the quality and because you can usually just walk in and be seated. They always have half priced sushi and unlike other sushi restaurants that have 1/2 priced, this place isn't skimping on the size of the rolls. They have a tons of sushi and are quick in getting your orders in. This is the only place where I get a whole bowl of spicy mayo sauce when I ask for it on the side. Went for some late night dinner. Ordered a Alaskan Roll some Beef Lo Mein and Kal Bi. The Alaskan Roll was delicious and fresh. The beef in the lo mein was a little dry, but the flavor was good and the vegetables were fresh. The kal bi brought me back to a fond childhood memory of my Aunt Helen. They were delicious and if I was not in a restaurant I would believe they were homemade. You can tell that the cooks put their soul in the dishes. Spicy chicken was pretty spicy which is a plus. The sushi was great as well. They had a grand re-opening event which was simply horrific. It was neither here nor there. $20 for all you can eat but there was nothing remotely appetizing. The fried rice looked alright, but there was some tiny pieces of poorly fried chicken that looked hardly sauced. There were some bbq ribs but there was no meat, they were completely bone. And there were a couple sushi options but with no description of what the pieces actually were and they looked like they'd been sitting around for a while. Full disclosure, this is a review of sushi coming from a vegetarian so my choices for sushi rolls are limited. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Sushi! It's a relaxed environment to pop in for lunch or dinner, and they have a pretty solid menu with a variety of rolls to choose from. I ordered the veggie roll, miso soup and a cup of tea and it was was great! Granted, it's pretty hard to mess up a vegetarian roll, but everything as a whole (rice stickiness, ginger, soup) hit the spot! They have a deal for dinner where the rolls are half off when you dine in, so my final bill was quite cheap. I can definitely see myself popping in here when I have a sushi craving in any given night! In my original review, more than two years ago, I said Mr. Sushi was the "Average Guy" of sushi restaurants, in that almost everything about it--food, service, decor--was completely average and generic. After visiting Mr. Sushi for lunch every few weeks since then, I might have to revise my description. Mr. Sushi should now be called "Mr. Inconsistent." Sometimes, it's a four-star sushi joint with fresh-and-bright-tasting, neatly-assembled sushi with generous cuts of fish. I've also discovered that Mr. Sushi does a really credible job with dolsot bibimbab, which is a good lunch value at $11 for a huge serving. But on too many other occasions, Mr. Sushi is a mediocre and chintzy two-star sushi joint. In the prison cooking scene in "Goodfellas," Ray Liotta talks about how mob boss Paulie had a wonderful system for doing the garlic: "He used a razor, and he would slice it so thin that it would liquify in the pan." Well, sometimes the sushi chefs at Mr. Inconsistent seem to be inspired by this "Goodfellas" scene, except that they're trying to slice the fish so paper-thin that the restaurant can get 11,500 pieces of nigiri out out of a single block of fish. Actually, the sushi chefs are probably just browbeaten into doing it by a cheapskate manager or owner, but it's a disgraceful and off-putting practice in any sushi place, and a rip-off. (Also, sometimes various items in the bento boxes seem like they've been pulled out of a walk-in and heated up in a microwave.) For now, still three stars, at least until Mr. Sushi tips one way or the other and becomes either consistently good or consistently bad. UPDATE (3/2016): A few years down the line, everything above still pretty much holds true. Dolsot bibimbab is still a good value, the sushi is wildly inconsistent in both portion and quality, and the bento boxes have been reduced slightly in size and their contents don't look too impressive. read more

The rolls range from the comfortable philly roll to exquisite rolls filled with real crab and topped with chilled roe. The miso soup was a little salty, but our huge order was ready in 15 minutes - hard to beat. We ordered a bit to go, and our waitress was fast, helpful, and very sweet. There is more than just sushi on the menu... there are bento boxes, udon/noodles, fried rice, etc. Mr. Sushi's menu is an asian hodge podge... Korean (bibimbap, bul ko gi), pad thai, and other misc. asian dishes. Usually with entree/sushi orders you get side salads - it's just regular iceberg lettuce plus a few add-ins, but i love the dressing they have! I'm not sure when you get a salad - the menu doesn't seem to be super clear on it but I've essentially come to expect it. For dinner, rolls are half off and if you sit at the bar they usually make you a little free appetizer treat. Service is hit or miss.. the last few times I've been. I picked up the dinner the other night and my friend decided we should sit for a couple min because he wanted just one roll of sushi... they weren't even that busy at the time, and we sat at the bar.. the host working that night didn't seem happy about it. He gave my friend a water and it felt like he purposefully did not bring me one. Items i like: sushi - the fish tastes fresh to me. There are also a lot of options in the cooked seafood realm including deep fried rolls (air force, sunday morning) and a handful of rolls that are HUGE with this baked scallop/crab mix on top (volcano roll).
