I want to start off by saying that this Korean restaurant is not for everyone. It is clearly small operation with the chef also working as the owner, waiter, etc. The biggest quirk that may be off-putting to some people is how the owner / chef is very involved in your experience. If you are not expecting it, it can be a shock for sure. He would frequently check in on us and make small talk, give us recommendations on the menu, how to order, even so far as to grab our stone bowls after they were served to stir them. For me, it was overbearing and I was not a fan of someone touching utensils after we were served without asking but I ended up still giving 5 stars because he meant well. Right after he continued bringing dumplings and serving them to us just to be nice! No additional charge, and he would've continued making them unless we refused after bringing 2 whole orders. When he learned it was our friends birthday he brought out moonpies and a bag of some korean snack just for her, even though they dont have dessert on the menu. Even as you walk in, you'll notice from the decore that is very much a small business. You have a button to press to notify the owner you're there, get drinks, and a QR code to order. That being said the service is very timely, high quality fresh food comes out super hot, and he was very nice. Be aware of the social experience because that is a big part of the restaurant. I've wanted to go to this place for years! When I first showed up I was nervous about it being open and then the owner popped out to check the mail and waved us in to have a seat. Stopped by here last night and feel like it gets over looked too often. It has been a staple in Oakley forever but now that so many new chains have popped up around it it seems to be forgotten about it but shouldn't be. First time for me my husband and daughter have been here before. We all ordered the stone bowl with pork belly, had the crispy dumpling and kimchi'. Everything was really good. The dumplings were some of the best I've ever had. I also really liked the kimchi. It had just enough tang with a hint of garlicky heat. It went really well with the stone bowl. Running errands around the city and ended up on a side of town we don't frequent much at all and had to pivot our movie night dinner options. When you're plant based/vegan it can be extremely difficult to do on the fly specially in Cincy - but Lo and behold we stumbled on Stone Bowl after seeing the great reviews and vegan options. This good man did not disappoint at all! Very cute establishment with a very nice owner. A friend and I came here on a Thursday night and we were a bit baffled on how empty it was, but nonetheless we continued on. The menu isn't big and unfortunately they aren't serving sushi at the moment, but what we both ordered was good. I ordered the beef spicy ramen and it has really good flavors. The poached egg was cooked perfectly and the beef was tender. The owner came out and asked if I wanted more vegetables - I said sure and he gave me a lot lol. My friend ordered the beef stone bowl and she was delighted by the taste. He also came out and gave up complimentary vegan gyoza (which were tasty) and a bowl of sauteed mushrooms which were REALLY good. As soon as we walked through the door we felt welcomed by the incredible hospitality of the owner. Despite being a one man show, our food came out incredibly quickly, and the service was excellent. Currently, Stone Bowl is open for carry out, not dine in. I've gotten the Philadelphia Roll for lunch from work one time and thought it was good. Pricing is definitely reasonable. Here's something you need to know. If you order online, sushi is 50 percent off. If you go in and order, it's 30 percent off. Misleading...the signs on the outside of the restaurant says half off on sushi (online it advertised it as well) but just thought I would warn you. My Mr and I wanted to order sushi one night for dinner. We ordered: Philly roll Avocado cucumber roll Alaskan roll It was good. I can't complain on the price since we paid only 16.00 for three rolls 30 percent off ordering on sight. The fish was a little mushy. When they open up for dining, I want to try other items on the menu which my friends recommend that their meals are solid. Will update once I try them. Wow. I don't know if this is a one man restaurant, or if it's only one person per shift. But wow. I am so amazed by our waiter's kindness and attentiveness. For those that don't know, your waiter is also your chef. You order online (in restaurant, very easy), and he brings it out and shows you how to use the stone bowl. Okay this isn't what I would normally call a 5 star restaurant but instead it's a really unique & pleasant Korean hole in the wall dining experience with 100% delicious food created & served by an owner who is 5 stars worth of passionate about taking care of his customers. The place is small, cute, & quaint. My 2 friends & their 2 kids & I came to the Stone Bowl for dinner tonight. When you sit down you order from a QR code & then you are brought free bottled water to drink with your meal. Each table has a box of tissues on it as a napkin option, which I found charming & helpful, especially during allergy season lol. We ordered the vegan crispy dumplings & they came out in a flash! He even brought us some extras and made sure to ask if the kids would have some too. He brought them on separate plates for each of us to have our own. I tried the Beef Stone Bowl which is a bibimbap bowl & so did my 2 friends. The stone bowls, dumplings, & kimchi were all soooo delicious. The chef/owner/server is very hands on & teaches you how to stir & cook your hot stone bowl properly once it comes to the table. He may ask you to participate. He was gently persistent in his way of teaching which was another added charm. I wasn't sure how to feel at first but realized he is kind & quirky with his own way of serving his guests & found it refreshing. He brought the kids toys to play with & also gave us all free ice cream sandwiches at the end! He asked the 8 year old to go grab the ice cream for everyone & reminded the kids to help clean up after ourselves in a kind & respectful manner. On our way out, he brought my friend-who had been breastfeeding her little one during part of dinner-some frozen bowls of nutritional Korean chicken soup & told her that her children are so lucky she is able to breastfeed them to help their nutrition & health! He wanted her to have the soup to keep her immune system up this season! So again- the chef is involved with the whole dining experience & goes out of his way to interact, help with the kids, make sure everyone is full with extra food & free dessert, & he might even send you with extra soup when you leave! This type of dining experience could be strange or off-putting to some, but I encourage you to notice this man's kindness, generous spirit, & passion for his food, his guests, & his business! To sum it up, the food is 200% worth going & please have an open mind about chef being involved at different times with your meal & experience! It's evident that he loves what he does & is there to serve great food & authentic Korean hospitality that makes sense for him, his personality, & his culture! I will certainly be back to eat the beef stone bowl, kimchi, & dumplings again because the food alone is worthy of another visit! :) read more

I was on my way through town with my boyfriend and we decide to stop at our favorite Korean place for dinner but then found they are evidently closed on Sundays. I had driven by another Korean place a million times, but honestly was a little turned off by the exterior so i never stopped. I was so desperate for Bibimbap that I decide to try this place, Stone Bowl. Who knows, maybe I will be delightfully surprised! Honestly, this building looks like it should have been knocked down when the last place went out of business. Not only is it a strong Bavarian/German theme, it just seems ran down. Then when you try and make it an Asian theme, but don't really get rid of the German theme, it's just all kinds of wrong. It's a weird combination of Hansel Aside from this, the interior also seems run down. There's a air duct with the vent hanging off. The ceiling has patches. Our waitress was very nice and I have no complaints about the service. The food was fine. Not the best Korean and not good enough to override the atmosphere. But not bad either. So 1 star for the atmosphere, but since the food and service was okay, I'll raise it to 3 stars. read more

Came to Stone bowl with a party of 6 on Saturday with a party of 6, we were able to just sit right down. The interior is a little dimly lit and is a nice little secret date spot that you wouldn't expect to go to. You scan the QR code on your phone and order from there and then the food is brought out to you. If you order a stone bowl your waiter explains and shows you how you have to let it cook and you have to scrape from the bottom and press down as it's still cooking. I had the Udon Noddles - teriyaki chicken and the flavor was amazing. I love noodle dishes and this by far was one of the best ones. I finished eating first and the waiter came out and asked if anyone needed more food, he looked at me and said "you do!" He brought me some dumplings at no charge and gave some to the child that was in our party and thanked us so much for coming in. service was great and gave us a nice yogurt shot (orange flavored) when we left. I've driven past this place for years seeing as I attended Crossroads Church for 7 years, and it's right across the street, but I've never stopped. Tonight after a 5 mile run I was craving something warm and ramen sounded like exactly what I wanted, so I decided to stop in. I've always pictured it being a very small place with a lack of space, but it actually has a large dining area and a place for private parties. The outdoor seating is beautiful as well. Service is incredibly fast and Kelly (waiter) is so friendly and kind! Food wise- I think it's highly overpriced for what you get, but it is tasty. Brussels seaweed salad was yummy and larger than I was expected and cute with the flower on top. I also got the veggie ramen with veggie dumplings and poached egg and green tea ramen. Yummy and the broth is unsalted so you can add your own flavorings. I wouldn't say it's the best ramen I have had but it is good and hot the spot. For noodle soup, you can't beat Thongs Thai in Milford. I have yet to find a better pho in the country. Next time I'm here I want to try the stone bowl which is what they are known for! read more

I am in town for work and this place was walking distance to my hotel so I decided to head over. From the outside the building looks like a little hole on the wall across from a strip mall, it's easy to overlook so I am writing this review to tell you that you have to come here. Once you're inside it has a very warm, welcoming and homey atmosphere. I got the beef bibimbap and it was amazing. The chef also brought out some complimentary dumplings which were also very good and it was so nice of him to bring out. The service was super attentive. We stumbled on this restaurant during our weekend trip to Cincinnati and oh boy, was it good! The owner of the restaurant let us sample some of the crunchy dumplings! (AMAZING by the way) I got the chicken ramen bowl and my husband got the beef stone bowl! Such a cool experience, because you continue to cook the food in the bowl once it gets to your table. The owner came out and personally showed us how to properly cook/eat the bowl. Everything we ate was so delicious and you could tell the owner took pride in his restaurant and food!
