So-- you waited too late and can't get a reservation at Jeff Ruby? Yeah-that's how we ended up here too. We had the ocean roll- DELICIOUS. Everything else was good too- but not Ruby good. Breakdown of what we ordered: -ocean roll 7/10-- would be 10 but whoever rolled got those 3 stars knocked off -rotisserie chicken spring roll- 3/10--you had me at rotisserie chicken... But they were served cold... And they weren't good. Skip them. -steak- 6/10-mine was cooked well... But it was what I could cook at home. -Brussels sprouts--3/10-they were good... But again once I can cook and help. The precincts brussels sprouts you can't even compare. -duck fat fries-- 10/10. Tasted just like Penn station --go next-door and save yourself five bucks. To conclude if the bill was $100 less I would've liked it a lot more...and would have given maybe 1 or 2 more stars... Came here for Greater Cincinnati Restaurant week. It had been awhile since I tried their food and was glad to go back. I will say their restaurant menu was much more limited than other restaurants I tried this week, but it was still tasty. Tomato bisque - nice flavor (they said all soups are made daily) Hanger streak- I wouldn't usually go for this type of steak, but it was pretty good. Love the addition of mushrooms and pesto. The bed of gnocchi was not very flavorful (but, really, not many places know how to do gnocchi like Nicolas's in Cincinnati OTR). Lavender flan was surprisingly nice. Can't say it was my favorite dessert ever, but the lavender flavor was fun and unique. Lastly, our service was pretty good! read more

I had business meetings in Sharonville. Most of the nicer restaurants in the area were closed on a Monday evening so my host suggested Embers Restaurant. It was a bit of a drive but clearly worth the effort. We decided to sit in the bar area, which was a good choice. We started our evening with a nice bottle of wine and crab cake appetizers. We followed with a selection main courses. My fish dinner was excellent. Service was excellent. Overall the restaurant is highly recommended. read more

I ate at this restaurant a few years ago and had the privilege of going back again. This restaurant is a bit expensive but sooo worth it! Me and my family got a bunch of different foods and tried all of them. The watermelon salad was very different and interesting and I loved trying something new. We also got the mushroom and shrimp appetizer which was lightly fried and covered in delicious sauce. I then got the filet Oscar and it did not disappoint. They cooked it perfectly and the crab and hollandaise sauce was amazing. For our sides we got potatoes au gratin which I highly recommend and brusslesprouts which I probably would not get again. Finally we got the honey bourbon chocolate cake which was to die for! Overall the experience was very good and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We took our son here for his birthday dinner. My son & I got the filet mignon and my husband got the ribeye. The meat was all cooked very nicely! The customer service was top notch. Our waiter was very informative about the menu. I did not like that you pay $40-60 for your meat and get no side with it. All the sides are a la carte and family style which does not seem in keeping with the tone of the restaurant. Overall, this was a positive experience and the food was good! read more

we started our evening in the bar having drinks prior to our friends, arriving for dinner. When we ordered a glass of house wine the older bar tender snickered at us like we were cheap. She was rude to us while being very friendly and attentive to others. When went to the dining room at 6:15 for dinner. Our waitress was rude to our friend who only drank water. She can't drink due to severe arm tremors. She also doesn't eat much in public because it is embarrassing for her so she split a meal with her husband. The waitress made jokes and was rude to them the entire meal. Above that my husbands cowboy ribeye was so grizzly he couldn't eat it. He was too embarrassed to complain because we had recommended Embers as a great place to our friends. Also my risotto was crunchy from undercooking . Ordered multiple rolls and orders of nigiri. all were delicious, highly recommend the seabass tempura and broiled eel nigiri. cowboy ribeye was good but had a strong charred smokey flavor, so keep that in mind! I had been curious about this place for a while now, and finally convinced the wife to try it with me. I'm a bit torn on how to evaluate it - right now it's three stars in my mind. We ordered the crab cakes for an appetizer, and man, they were REALLY good. Haven't had crab cakes that good in a long time. If you go, forget the other apps, and go right here, you won't be disappointed. We then each had a caesar salad. We were "meh" on the salad. Not horrible, but also not one of the better ones I've had in recent memory either. I ordered the NY strip with lobster gruyere on top with a loaded baked potato for my side. My wife had the filet oscar with a side of grilled asparagus and an order of their duck fat fries. Those fries are really good, and I enjoyed the truffle aioli sauce. My wife said her steak was very good (it looked good) and was cooked perfectly. My NY strip was a bit overcooked, and the lobster gruyere was really disappointing. The baked potato was on point. A note about their steaks - they like to cut their steaks VERY thick. My strip was at least 1" thick. Keep this in mind when you are ordering, as I've found this makes it really difficult for someone who is not a great cook to get medium well correct. My steak was a bit chewy because of this, but the flavor was still good. We then split a creme brûlée for dessert, and it was very good as well. Actually, their whole dessert menu was very appealing. I think this place would be perfect for a nice late night dessert for two in their bar. The main dining area is very dimly lit - honestly, I felt it was a bit too dark. Our servers were very attentive, and our drink glasses were never empty. The staff is very attentive. They do take reservations, and there is a valet for parking, but we self-parked with no trouble. Dinner here gets expensive pretty fast. I think for the money, I would rather stay on the KY side of the river and go to Walt's Hitching Post. I think it's better value and I think they do an overall better job with cooking their steaks. But, as I said earlier, if you're just looking for a good spot for dessert - this would be a really good choice. read more

My baby iceberg wedge was delicious. Already cut with an excellent blue cheese dressing. The shrimp tempura sushi was just ok. Kind of run of the mill. More akin to Kroger or Publix. Wont do that again. Service was really good....attentive, conversational, etc. Wife green goddess salad was tasty. Dressing is an all star. Others in our party loved the salmon. Ember is always a good choice to us being so close to home. Food and ambiance are always good. We ordered surf and turf, enjoyed the chicken spring rolls and sushi rolls, all delicious. Just went here last Friday for a close friends birthday. I was happy from the minute I sat down to the minute I got up!! It started with a drink called the Embers Flirtini! A martini topped off with champagne. Do I really need to say more!! I then indulged I. The soup of the night, cauliflower bisque with pine nuts and a sprinkle of cheese. Do not judge that soup was amazing!! For Dinner I had the filet medium rare perfectly prepared with the house green goddess salad and Au' Gratin potatoes. I am shaking my head right now because I can taste the food melting in my mouth. Everything is a la carte and the sides are big enough to share. So I also tasted the macaroni n cheese, steamed spinach, and duck fat fries!! There were 11 ladies at the table and not one complained !! However, the lamb was excellent! It was cooked perfectly and had great texture. It came with a bed of potatoes and garnishes and I was surprised by how much food it ended up being. I anticipate small portions at a restaurant like this but this was enough to fill me up even without the side. The risotto was cooked to perfection. It does taste like it has a sour cream element to it, which I liked and my boyfriend didn't, so be aware. I also ordered a flirtini, which is the worst possible name for a drink. full disclosure I'm basing this review on the Thursday half-price bar menu specials that they offer, so my satisfaction with the pricing and food maybe a little skewed. That means said I don't think I'd be upset of paying full price for anything that I got. The service, atmosphere, and quality we're all top-notch. I thoroughly enjoyed a very large and juicy burger, as well as a salad that had complex flavors that were all balanced with each other. My friend had the goat cheese bruschettaand the beat marmalade topping on that was just perfectly tart and sweet. She also got the Vietnamese style bone-in ribs, which I personally thought were a little heavy on the coriander, but had a great Smoky flavor that she really enjoyed. My sister was visiting from out of town and we wanted to go somewhere with drinks and appetizers. The restaurant was busy but we found two seats together at the bar. Any time we needed anything we had to flag down a bartender. We first ordered drinks which were delivered promptly and were good. At no point did anyone check back in with us. We had to wave our hands to get the bartender's attention to order appetizers. They were good, but took a long time to get. Again, no one checked back in with us. When I wanted a second drink, we tried getting someone's attention, and finally had to ask the bar-back to help us order. When it was time to pay, the bar area had mostly cleared out, and my sister literally was waving around the check with her credit card to get someone's attention. Had to send it back. 5 of us. The Rib dinner was served cold. The ribs were cold, the mash potatoes cold. 5 dinners were cold. My portion was smaller than every one else and tasted old. I ate here for the first time last night. My fiancé has been here one time before and she was so looking forward to going back because she said she really enjoyed the food she had her first time. First off let me say.. the parking here is horrible.. they have valet parking here for $5.. which is a waste. The parking lot isn't that big so if you can find a spot.. you really don't have to walk far. The decor was nothing special.. it just felt like I was in a dim lighted Olive Garden. it could definitely use an upgrade. The hostess was very friendly and greeted us with a smile. We had reservations and were seated right away. the waiter we had was just ok.. I wouldn't go out of my way to sit in his section or anything like that. Okay.. Let's get to why we came here in the first place.. The Food!! well.. I'll just say.. everything was bland and I mean everything.. the bread was eh.. the butter was nothing special.. I've had better sushi in places around town that is half the price of here. the Spicy Tuna was so overwhelming. my fiancé enjoyed her salad.. but how do you mess up a salad? For our main dish we both got the braised beef short ribs.. or should it be called (a flavorless pot roast?) that's what it taste like and pretty much was.. pot roast. we both sent them back because for the price we wanted to have a good experience.. I normally never send stuff back but after having one bite.. I was never going to finish it because it wasn't very good. We picked 2 new entrées.. yeah.. it just wasn't our night.. both of these came out tasting bland and were not worth the price.. I mean you can get so much better for a cheaper price. I had the sea bass roll I think it was called? it's just a California roll with greasy poorly fried sea bass on top. And to top is off the desserts were so over rated.. the Oreo doughnuts.. you could taste the uncooked dough. To the point where there was no feasible way they "kept it on ice" all day like they hastily reassured us. Thankfully, they so graciously offered half off the food poisoning. I was hopeful going into the next course, the Filet Mignon and Butter Poached Lobster Tail. Surely they would have perfected a plate they were charging $88 for. No. Every single bite of the lobster tail had shell pieces in it and I have had better steaks at Texas Roadhouse. Normally I wouldn't be this petty, but when your bills regularly surpass $250 you'd think you could do better than Hobby Lobby flowers scattered around in Dollar Tree vases as decor. Truly early 2000's divorcee vibes. Zero ambiance. Nothing like the self-described "warmth and comfort of a glowing fire". The experience had me wishing I would've gone to the Red Lobster next door. The only reason I gave 2 stars was because our server was great! She was so sweet and provided excellent service. I've dined here many times. One of my favorites include the duck fat fries with truffle sauce. These are addictive. Their steaks are also amazing. Great service when you dine for dinner.
