Breakdown of what we ordered: -ocean roll 7/10-- would be 10 but whoever rolled got those 3 stars knocked off -rotisserie chicken spring roll- 3/10--you had me at rotisserie chicken... But they were served cold... And they weren't good. Skip them. -steak- 6/10-mine was cooked well... But it was what I could cook at home. -Brussels sprouts--3/10-they were good... But again once I can cook and help. The precincts brussels sprouts you can't even compare. -duck fat fries-- 10/10. Tasted just like Penn station --go next-door and save yourself five bucks. I had business meetings in Sharonville. Most of the nicer restaurants in the area were closed on a Monday evening so my host suggested Embers Restaurant. It was a bit of a drive but clearly worth the effort. We decided to sit in the bar area, which was a good choice. We started our evening with a nice bottle of wine and crab cake appetizers. Came here for Greater Cincinnati Restaurant week. It had been awhile since I tried their food and was glad to go back. I will say their restaurant menu was much more limited than other restaurants I tried this week, but it was still tasty. Tomato bisque - nice flavor (they said all soups are made daily) Hanger streak- I wouldn't usually go for this type of steak, but it was pretty good. Love the addition of mushrooms and pesto. The bed of gnocchi was not very flavorful (but, really, not many places know how to do gnocchi like Nicolas's in Cincinnati OTR). Lavender flan was surprisingly nice. Can't say it was my favorite dessert ever, but the lavender flavor was fun and unique. Lastly, our service was pretty good! read more

I ate at this restaurant a few years ago and had the privilege of going back again. This restaurant is a bit expensive but sooo worth it! Me and my family got a bunch of different foods and tried all of them. The watermelon salad was very different and interesting and I loved trying something new. We also got the mushroom and shrimp appetizer which was lightly fried and covered in delicious sauce. I then got the filet Oscar and it did not disappoint. They cooked it perfectly and the crab and hollandaise sauce was amazing. For our sides we got potatoes au gratin which I highly recommend and brusslesprouts which I probably would not get again. Finally we got the honey bourbon chocolate cake which was to die for! Overall the experience was very good and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We took our son here for his birthday dinner. My son & I got the filet mignon and my husband got the ribeye. The meat was all cooked very nicely! The customer service was top notch. Our waiter was very informative about the menu. I did not like that you pay $40-60 for your meat and get no side with it. She was rude to us while being very friendly and attentive to others. When went to the dining room at 6:15 for dinner. Our waitress was rude to our friend who only drank water. She can't drink due to severe arm tremors. She also doesn't eat much in public because it is embarrassing for her so she split a meal with her husband. The waitress made jokes and was rude to them the entire meal. Above that my husbands cowboy ribeye was so grizzly he couldn't eat it. Ok. Dinner on a Friday evening for us and son/daughter in law at Embers. Special occasion at special restaurant? In some ways yes and no. Food was either excellent or middle of the road. My baby iceberg wedge was delicious. Already cut with an excellent blue cheese dressing. The shrimp tempura sushi was just ok. Kind of run of the mill. More akin to Kroger or Publix. Wont do that again. Service was really good....attentive, conversational, etc. Wife green goddess salad was tasty. Dressing is an all star. Others in our party loved the salmon. I had been curious about this place for a while now, and finally convinced the wife to try it with me. I'm a bit torn on how to evaluate it - right now it's three stars in my mind. We ordered the crab cakes for an appetizer, and man, they were REALLY good. Haven't had crab cakes that good in a long time. If you go, forget the other apps, and go right here, you won't be disappointed. We then each had a caesar salad. We were "meh" on the salad. Not horrible, but also not one of the better ones I've had in recent memory either. I ordered the NY strip with lobster gruyere on top with a loaded baked potato for my side. My wife had the filet oscar with a side of grilled asparagus and an order of their duck fat fries. Those fries are really good, and I enjoyed the truffle aioli sauce. My wife said her steak was very good (it looked good) and was cooked perfectly. My NY strip was a bit overcooked, and the lobster gruyere was really disappointing. The baked potato was on point. A note about their steaks - they like to cut their steaks VERY thick. My strip was at least 1" thick. Keep this in mind when you are ordering, as I've found this makes it really difficult for someone who is not a great cook to get medium well correct. My steak was a bit chewy because of this, but the flavor was still good. We then split a creme brûlée for dessert, and it was very good as well. Actually, their whole dessert menu was very appealing. I think this place would be perfect for a nice late night dessert for two in their bar. The main dining area is very dimly lit - honestly, I felt it was a bit too dark. Our servers were very attentive, and our drink glasses were never empty. The staff is very attentive. They do take reservations, and there is a valet for parking, but we self-parked with no trouble. Dinner here gets expensive pretty fast. I think for the money, I would rather stay on the KY side of the river and go to Walt's Hitching Post. I think it's better value and I think they do an overall better job with cooking their steaks. But, as I said earlier, if you're just looking for a good spot for dessert - this would be a really good choice. read more

Any time we needed anything we had to flag down a bartender. We first ordered drinks which were delivered promptly and were good. At no point did anyone check back in with us. We had to wave our hands to get the bartender's attention to order appetizers. They were good, but took a long time to get. Again, no one checked back in with us. When I wanted a second drink, we tried getting someone's attention, and finally had to ask the bar-back to help us order. When it was time to pay, the bar area had mostly cleared out, and my sister literally was waving around the check with her credit card to get someone's attention. full disclosure I'm basing this review on the Thursday half-price bar menu specials that they offer, so my satisfaction with the pricing and food maybe a little skewed. That means said I don't think I'd be upset of paying full price for anything that I got. The service, atmosphere, and quality we're all top-notch. I thoroughly enjoyed a very large and juicy burger, as well as a salad that had complex flavors that were all balanced with each other. My friend had the goat cheese bruschettaand the beat marmalade topping on that was just perfectly tart and sweet. She also got the Vietnamese style bone-in ribs, which I personally thought were a little heavy on the coriander, but had a great Smoky flavor that she really enjoyed. You add in the fact that the bartender was very attentive, patient, and fun and there's no complaints here. I will definitely be back, and it may even be on a regular night read more

Ate at Embers for the first time tonight... was not impressed the food was terrible. Had the crab cakes as an appetizer which was on a bed of corn... enough said. We then continued to get their specialty sushi roll and specialty lobster ravioli...Disgusting. On top of it all the bill was over $200 for the most subpar meal of my life. The only reason I gave 2 stars was because our server was great! She was so sweet and provided excellent service. I've had better sushi in places around town that is half the price of here. the Spicy Tuna was so overwhelming. my fiancé enjoyed her salad.. but how do you mess up a salad? For our main dish we both got the braised beef short ribs.. or should it be called (a flavorless pot roast?) that's what it taste like and pretty much was.. pot roast. we both sent them back because for the price we wanted to have a good experience.. I normally never send stuff back but after having one bite.. I was never going to finish it because it wasn't very good. No. Every single bite of the lobster tail had shell pieces in it and I have had better steaks at Texas Roadhouse. Normally I wouldn't be this petty, but when your bills regularly surpass $250 you'd think you could do better than Hobby Lobby flowers scattered around in Dollar Tree vases as decor. Truly early 2000's divorcee vibes. Zero ambiance. Nothing like the self-described "warmth and comfort of a glowing fire". The experience had me wishing I would've gone to the Red Lobster next door. The staff was pleasant and attentive. Although we came in with a party of six and no reservation, they were able to seat our party almost right away. Everyone raved about their dishes; however, our waitress, Ashley, was spectacular. She was very friendly and helpful and our food came out quickly. When a member of our party spilled a glass of water on her meal, she was spot on. The table was completely cleaned and drenched food was replaced in a flash. Other places like Carlo & Johnny and Tony's we're all booked up, but Embers had a 7 o'clock opening, which in retrospect really should have been a tip off. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, but the food was disappointing for being so expensive. First off, the steak tartare was bland. Their house whipped butter had more flavor to it. Then the entrees were both pretty much room temperature, and tasted like they were made by that one friend of yours who only kinda dabbles in cooking every once in a while. Having been made by a professional chef however, they were very weak. The chicken came with this pressed corn mash... thing... that still had the impression of whatever packaging it came in, and the scallops sat on a corn and tomato mix that frankly, I wouldn't eat by itself and didn't offer anything to the overall dish. The duck fat fries were okay but again, room temperature. The only really good part was the truffle aioli. That, and the wine. Overall, I've had better tasting food at far less expensive places, like the Red Lobster across the street. Or hell, even Chipotle has had more flavor and overall freshness! And while we're on the subject of Red Lobster, I have to note that the Embers interior looks as if they used the same guy; did he get done at Red Lobster and think, 'Mmk, now I'll do what I just did... BUT FANCY!' Generic is the main word I'd go with here. It was the culinary equivalent of a shrug. Probably wouldn't go back. read more
