This seafood restaurant is one of the best seafood restaurants that I have eaten at. I travel around a lot and eat at different restaurants. From the time I walked in they made me feel like I was a customer. The atmosphere was great, service spectacular and the food was amazing. I visited the Crafty Crab with my husband and sister and we had a great experience! For appetizers we got the hushpuppies and cheese sticks. We got a bottle of Chardonnay for the table and it was incredibly reasonably priced. My sister got the snow crab, mussels and headless shrimp boil with two eggs with mild spice and the house flavor. I got king crab and headless shrimp with two eggs with mild spice and buttery garlic flavor. My husband (who is allergic to shellfish) got chicken fingers and fries. All of our food was hot and fantastic. Everything was flavored and cooked to perfection. We understand coming to a restaurant like this with a shellfish allergy is difficult for be restaurant and they were incredibly accommodating. The service was excellent and they took care of us. Dined in on 03/22/2026 very dissatisfied and unlikely to return to the location on Montgomery Rd in Cincinnati Ohio, the food was horrible 1st we waited more than an half an hour to be seated after telling us 10 minutes which I get it things happen but to wait just to be seated were the floor was extremely wet and almost fell to top it off the food was horrible carm mushy Crab legs overcooked/rubbery, the green mussels were gritty/dirty the sauce tasted like a 3 year old got into the spice rack cold butter still on top unmelted and the side of butter tasted like pure oil absolutely Trash I paid 109 and some change and when I complained there was nothing they can do I still have 95% of the boil in the refrigerator which will go in the trash but I will never return to this place again don't waste your money The one star goes to the waitress she was nice read more

I was in the mood for a seafood boil, and while they can be hit or miss in Cincinnati decided to give this restaurant a try. The first thing I noticed when I walked in, was how spacious the place is, the cleanliness and great service from the person at the counter. Once seated, our order was taken quickly. We both ordered a custom seafood boil with the Boom seasoning, which is a mix of all of the options and highly recommended. I really wanted to ask if I could take a cup home so I could season my fish for later this week. (I refrained). There is a full bar, televisions, and a variety of appetizers which would make this a great low-key place to watch live sports. We have been waiting for quite some time to get to Crafty Crab because of the closure of Juicy Crab in Tri-County. Crafty Crab did not disappoint. The sauce was great, the crabs were excellent, the clams were seasoned to perfection. Quick, fast, highly attentive service and the whole layout of the restaurant was perfectly "under the sea" designed. The food didn't disappoint because it was hot, order correct, and absolutely tasty. I would love to give this restaurant a 5 star experience but the bathroom was absolutely not at the standard commensurate to the service and cleanliness of the inside of the restaurant. I would strongly recommend a dedicated staff member to periodically clean the inside of the restrooms. Lastly, the quantity of the sauce seemed to be intentionally low. You had to pay $2.99 for extra sauce. Not a big deal because the sauce is absolutely ESSENTIAL to the Crafty taste (and it's a darn good taste). Serve the meals with at least enough sauce to cover the contents inside the bag. read more

Crafty Crab is a tropical gem, and if you only take one thing away from this review, it should be "try the boiled potatoes". Don't get me wrong, I love my fried catfish and my wife loved her fried oysters, but the tasting delight that blew me away was boiled potatoes in the Cajun spice boil. You will find them as a side item but I found making some positive comment after every single bite. But you probably want to know more about Crafty Crab than about a single side item. So here it goes. The ambience and decor is exactly what I like in a seafood restaurant. Rope nets hanging from the ceiling with random seaside articles strewn about in them. Butcher paper table cloths. Dark wood tables. And of course a bucket for the seafood shrapnel. I ordered the mango daiquiri to start. It was quite good and they made it in a blender at the bar. We ordered fried catfish and fried oysters for lunch. Both were cooked perfectly. The catfish was golden brown and super soft and moist on the inside. I was surprised at first that the boiled potatoes came in a bag, but understood the reasoning as soon as I started eating them and actually mired in the genius of the bag-based delivery approach. We got a combination of tartar sauce and ketchup. The food was wonderful! We didn't try the "real" seafood but they appeared to have all of the shelled wonders of the world, from several crab types to shrimp to crawfish to scallops to oysters. Many items to satisfy the seafood purist. We will try these next time, which is hopefully soon. The service was very good and prompt. During our visit the restaurant only had 3 tables of customers so I can't say how this would translate to a big crowd, but it was great for us. The Crafty Crab is only about 2000 ft south of Kenwood Mall on Montgomery Rd, so if you are looking for a nice place that doesn't carry the Kenwood Mall premium pricing, I would put this high on your list. read more

I was visiting my sister this past week and we were craving spicy food! We ordered a pound of whole shrimp each with a side of calamari and Cajun fries. The bag of shrimp comes with two potatoes and one corn! We got the spiciest level but still felt like it could use some more garlic and spice, BUT it definitely hit the spot! I was really surprised that on a Saturday at 5:30 it was pretty slow and we were seated right after walking in. It was definitely picking up when we left. The food was cooked just right. I've been to several places that have a seafood boil that has steamed all day and is mushy when you get it. Not the case here. Food was out quick, but not before we had a chance to enjoy the hush puppies and a couple beers. My entire party was pleased with the food and service. Between my dad's accent and that of our server, there were some comical moments. The food is appropriately priced and portioned. The fried fish had a mealy breading that was light and crisp. The fried oysters and shrimp had more of a crisp batter. We enjoyed all. We also had a seafood boils with two combos: shrimp-crab and and mussels-clams. The boil came with potatoes and corn-that wasn't really ripe or sweet. I added an order of boiled eggs. Everything was well seasoned and not salty and I was happy nothing was overcooked. The cocktail saucy wasn't anything special but I liked that it was cold and loaded with horseradish. I'm skeptical of any seafood place in Cincinnati, but the Crafty Crab was a pleasant surprise. The charm of the place is how the food is prepared and delivered to the table and the messy adventure of digging in. For me, the food was 5 stars. The more I went into the mix and figured out to use the garlic-butter dripping at the bottom, the better it got. The value was good. Not necessarily cheap, but worth what you pay. 4 stars The ambiance is exactly what you would expect. 3.5 stars. Service was really good considering the same friendly girl was the only person we saw working the whole time we were there. 4 stars. I love this place and it should be packed. It's one of the best kept secrets in Cincinnati. The fried mozzarella sticks are the best in town - big golden brown and delicious. I always get the fried shrimp basket because it's Cajun and the best fried shrimp I know in the city. The fries are batters dipped crispy and golden brown. Probably the best part is the food is always the same quality and they serve it fast. The gumbo is excellent at $5 a cup. I have been a long time customer of crafty crab for years and me and my family love them. I usually make only DoorDash from here but I do pick up from there sometimes. The ambiance and environment of the restaurant is very clean and relaxing. The service is pretty good. The staff is very nice and I have not gotten a rude worker since I've been coming here. I get the snow crab boil and add a few eggs in there with their Cajun seasoning and oh my god amazing. The flavor is there and it keeps you going back for more, doesn't taste fishy or old like some places. Definitely recommend especially if it's your first time trying a boil. read more

Just opened! This was delicious seafood similar to The Boiling Crab on the west coast. We started off with calamari and a dozen of fresh oysters really fresh. There are combo seafood or order them by the pound. We tried the shrimp & crab, additional dungeness crab and 1/2 lb of sausage. We opted for "The Boom Sauce" in medium spice which is a combination of all sauces (cajun, lemon pepper, buttery garlic) verry tasty and oh so good. Total of 4 lbs of seafood and we tapped out, still plenty left to go. We've eaten here several times in the past year and we've always had good food and service. Not sure what was off tonight. We walked in and stood at the host stand for several minutes and the only person to acknowledge us was a lady in street clothes who said they just got busy to give them a few minutes, which we were understanding to. However, the fried oysters have been very inconsistent at this Kenwood location. The last order from them was unacceptable due to very overly fried and hard texture.
