I am not one who normally is a fish and chip gal, but Alabama Fish bar blew me out of the water. The battered fish was exactly what you want if you're looking for classic fish n chips. They are a small walk up counter that is serving delicious meals to Cincinnatians. I will be back for more!!

This is the 3rd time that I've been here. (And there's about 2-5 years between visits. ) Usually Lent. Busy at lunch. I've always gotten the cod dinner and it has been consistently great! Cod- 6 generous pieces. HOT. Golden and crispy. Delicious Tartar Sauce- Very good- worth getting an extra for 6 pieces. Onions and peppers - spicy! I pick at these before the fries. I usually put them on the pieces of white bread that are at the bottom of the fries. Fries. These are good. But not the star of the show here. I've read recent yelp reviews about this place going downhill. Not the case. It's very very very good. Find a place to park. Wait in line Treat yourself.

A nostalgic trip for me always as i've been eating here since i was a kid! The fish with the bread and peppers is a staple for me. The fish is so crispy and flaky when biting into, a pro tip i do is make a little sandwich out of the fish, bread and peppers (top it with tarter and hot sauce). The inside is a quick order and go, love taking it and going to the park to eat in a picnic fashion. highly recommended seriously.

Delicious fried seafood with excellent value! On my recent ride around Cincinnati, my Lyft driver took the time to recommend this restaurant to me. When I saw the long lines at the counter, I knew I had come across a local favorite! Located on Race Street, this is a take-out only restaurant. Only on street parking is available, but it appeared limited. However, there is a cable car station close by. Uber/Lyft is usually available in under 5 minutes. For the menu, there are only three options available. Each fried fish entree is served with fries, bread, and various condiments, and the serving size is very generous. I ordered the 5 piece Whiting piece, and it was very delicious. Each piece of fish is lightly breaded and fried to perfection. It was crispy outside, and the fish was very tender inside. The fries felt generic, and I would recommend skipping it if you like to save room for the fried fish. As for the service, it was fast, and I received my order in under 3 minutes. My total came to $13, which was a steal given the generous portion of fish. Overall, it is a must try if you are a seafood lover!

COD Fish and French Fries!! YES YES and YES again. This place doesn't need a whole paragraph to convince anyone to eat here. It's just a flat out YES. Come and order some food TODAY.

I heard about this place from a friend. I was on my way to KY, so I figured I would give them a try. The service is lightning fast! As soon as I placed my order the cashier was handing me my food. Parking is terrible, luckily I was just able to hop out at the corner and place my order. The fish was fresh and hot, I got the whiting meal. The pieces of fish were generous. Next time I go, I will try the cod meal and make sure I get extra tartar sauce, the tartar is good but I just didn't have enough for all of my fish. The fries were just okay, nothing special. I feel like if I would've had more tartar I could've dipped them into the tartar sauce and they would've tasted better. Whiting 1-5=4. Fries 1-5=3.5. Customer Service 1-5=5.

Here are the facts: Their fried fish is fire. Their customer service is not. However I'm not upset about this. Im starting to think that the poor customer is service is the seasoning that make this joint keep serving up There is a woman there that has been taking orders for 30 years that is all business and has non existent customer service skills. No smile. No, "how are you?." But you know what? It doesn't matter. Foood is great. Im not their for the ambiance or the customer service. Im just there because the fish slaps every time. Even with them jacking up the price i do enjopy coming here as a treat from time to time. Definitely not a mistake to visit Just keep in mind that this is a to go only spot. One nice improvement recently was that they now accept credit card payments and have stepped in to 2023!

Our server, Chloe, introduced herself with a smile and provided us with a quick refresher. I knew from her energy that we were going to be in great hands for the evening. (and I was not wrong, lol) Chloe was personable, attentive, friendly, and down to earth. The service she provided us was excellent! I ordered the Swamp Thing for a cocktail. Sweet, fruity, and pretty... that green cocktail did exactly what it needed to do, lol. FIVE STARS! Now, on to the food... The Gator Bites are a MUST. I ordered the hot honey sauce on the side just to play it safe and I am glad I did, because babyyyy, that spice had no boundaries. If you're a lover of spicy things, you'll be good to order as is, lol! I also ordered the Roasted Oysters. Another MUST! The oysters had a parmesan crust with lemon garlic butter drizzled over them... They were gone in minutes! I was on the fence for my entree, but then my girl Chloe clocked that Pasta Mardi Gras and the rest is history. It was creamy, savory, and packed with flavor. I knew my girl wouldn't let me down! Our experience was excellent! I definitely recommend reservations. Pappadeaux wasn't terribly busy when we arrived, but by the time we finished up & headed out, they had a line out the door. If you're in the Cincy area, add to your foodie list! Overall, a great restaurant for a GNO, date night, or any celebration.

For appetizers, we had the roasted oysters and the hot honey gator bites. Everything was phenomenal. The special had a white wine sauce to die for and everything was wonderfully seasoned, I also had my salmon blackened which was chef's kiss. The gator bites were tender like chicken and the oysters were so flavorful! For the drink, I had the Swamp Thing cocktail and I was happily buzzed after finishing it. It was sweet, refreshing and the alcohol wasn't overpowering. Highly recommend Pappadeaux's if you're ever in the Cincinnati area!!! Customer Service: Chloe was our waitress and she was knowledgeable, sociable, funny and caring. She did a wonderful job in giving recommendations and telling us about the specials. She checked on us consistently and was never overbearing. The staff was timely with the appetizers, and the ebb and flow of the crowd seemed under control and all waiters/waitresses were ensuring orders were correct. Thank you Chloe for the top-tier service!! Ambiance: Pappadeaux's is typically upscale causal to business casual, but everyone is free to come as they are! It is family friendly for all ages. The decor gives an intimate open dining vibe. When it gets busy, it's BUSY. But the wait will be worth it! I guarantee there is something for everybody. This place is perfect for any occasion, celebration, graduation, birthday, date night, family dinner, a day trip - whatever your heart desires. The Cincy location is the best!

Both were delicious! We started with charred boiled oysters also great! My only suggestion is and it is not a complaint is the that the servers needed help! I am sure that during this rebranding it's hard to keep people because business is slow. Our server was great ! She and the bartender were the only people there on the floor. The place was not full but our server the blond hair lady but busting tail, she was hustling she at one point look like she had at least eleven tables, inside and out! She was obviously great at her job but we probably would have ordered more but didn't want her stretch her more than she was! The location is nice, but definitely its one of those touristy type of spots because of the view of the river. The restaurant was pretty empty for Friday lunch.... The soup dumplings were pretty okay, honestly hard to judge only because I am from Southern California and there are a lot of dim. Sum/ dumpling establishments that are so legit. Not too shabby for Cincinnati. Our server was really nice and attentive, she also brought out a nice matcha cheesecake and celebration of my mom's birthday which was really nice. Not to mention the fact that you HAVE TO HAVE A RESERVATION, was mind boggling for the place. Like the server was very nice and all, that is a plus. Though sadly the food, we had the gumbo and etu fay, it was honestly pretty sad. Like it's up there with the top 5 most sad restaurants I've ever eaten at. The food was pretty bland, and lacked any form of spice. Not to mention it was hard to tell what was actually in it, like a lot of the ingredients tasted over cooked. The wicker chairs in the section to the left of the bar as you face the bar were unusually deep and low. Over time I think we all adjusted, but sitting in them definitely felt unusual. There are other chairs throughout the restaurant. I recommend finding a table with different chairs. Our waiter was knowledgeable and very efficient. We hadn't checked on the website, but found out Thursday is oyster day, with $1 oysters and fried oysters and $1.50 for Oyster Bienville. The fried oysters were delicious. The raw oysters were good, though I had one that was gritty. We are going again in two weeks and will try the Oyster Bienville along with other assorted oysters. Two of us had the special Pan Seared Sea Bass. It came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The crisp on the top was delicious and the fish itself was delicate and moist. It did indeed melt in my mouth. The potatoes were very good, though I didn't finish all of them. The greens were good. Mark had a ribeye and is still raving about it today. He ordered the preparation version made with just salt and pepper. He also had a cup of gumbo. He said it had an amazing depth of flavor. We wrapped up with dessert. Three folks had Key Lime Pie. I opted for Karma's Opera Crème Cake. Oh my goodness, it was huge, sweet and delicious. I tried a bit of key lime and it just didn't compare. That said, those who had the Key Lime Pie loved it. Not only would we return, but we have the date already scheduled. I'm looking forward to trying something different.
