Nice looking restaurant, the ambiance is exactly what we expected. Tons of staff and even for a Tuesday night it was busy but service was on point. Apparently it was still happy hour at the time we came, which is half off appetizers so we ordered fried green tomatoes, quesadilla and fried pickles. Fried green tomatoes were a hit, quesadilla was mediocre and the pickles really was not good. My kid got chicken tenders and fries as expected. No issue, but didn't finish his food so probably not as good. I got the fried chicken, which was lacking in flavor. So to me it's exactly what I expected. But then came the bill and the server informed us that 2 of the 3 apps we ordered were not part of the half off eligibility. Needed to kill some time before I had to head to the airport so got dropped off here by my coworker to meet a friend. Great spot along the river and located on the boarder of Kentucky and Ohio not too far by the CVG airport (Cincinnati). I wasn't that hungry and really just needed a drink as it was a crazy day. Got the margarita which was very refreshing. A perfect day too to bask in the warm weather and a great view of the river! I also couldn't resist and ordered the fried green tomatoes! I have never had cod anywhere that tasted fishy so I have my doubts it was actually cod. My daughter got a steak that was overcooked and dry. My son-in-law got fried chicken that was very good. This was our second visit to Buckhead's. During our first visit I tried their fried chicken which was stellar for sure. I tried something similar to that on this occasion as I tried their Classic Chicken Sandwich. It came with a fried chicken breast (grilled is also available) lettuce, onion, tomato, and a sauce of your choice. I chose 911 sauce trying for some heat. The chicken was excellent and the 911 sauce had great flavour although I wouldn't consider it hot. I got a big ole baked potato as a side topped with butter and sour cream and was delicious. We also got pretzels with beer cheese for an appetizer which was excellent. The beer cheese was particularly flavourful. The restaurant is in a very picturesque spot down by the river and they've done a great job making the building look awesome. The service was outstanding as well. The view of the river is awesome. The service is good. I got the chicken pot pie and it was fine...extremely hot and took forever to eat without burning my mouth. The fried green tomatoes are always my husband's favorite. He was disappointed in the roast beef. His pumpkin ale beer new on the menu was tasty. First off the service, from making a reservation to the server, was awesome! There isn't one thing I can say that's negative in this category. The restaurant itself was surprisingly very pleasant. Now the food was another story altogether. I ordered steak and it was not cooked right. I ordered my steak medium and I got rare, also my steak (that I paid $30 for) had gristle! I ordered the Mac and cheese for a side and it was not that great. It tastes like box Mac and cheese that was doctored. I ordered mash potatoes and gravy and it was bland and gross. I can make mash potatoes out of instant potato flakes that is better than that. I also ordered my mom a bison burger to take to her and she hated it. The burger was bland, she hated the Mac and cheese too. The ONLY great food I had at this place was the rolls and butter. Full disclaimer. I have been to this place twice and twice I have only had the chicken pot pie. So I brought a couple of family members to cover more food ground. So yes, two of us had the chicken pot pie! It's big and delicious. Crust is good and flaky. The third person had the grilled salmon and they liked it. Kind of small but good. The rolls are hollow so easier to make them full of butter (oh my poor heart) . It gets busy so don't be surprised at the early dinner crowd. read more

Finally made it happen! Got to try this place. It was busy on a weekday evening but we got seated right away and our server was very attentive. My friend and I had the cheese boulders which were a really good appetizer. Also the bread with cinnamon butter was great! Jess was our server and she did a great job taking care of us. I had the Denali smashburger, which was okay but it was just very basic and did not stand out with flavor. My friend had the Manhattan roast beef was also just okay. It completely lacked flavor, according to his statement. This might be one of those places where you're just paying for the view. The view outside of the Ohio River is pretty spectacular as well as the city of Cincinnati. But the food is just okay. I'm sure people are kind of just there for the bar and the view and the food is just one of those things where most of the people don't care about as much as we do. read more

I tried the Summit Sampler which consisted of Fried Green Tomatoes which was my favorite,Cheese Boulders - basically fried cheese balls that I felt were lacking in flavor and boneless chicken wings which were slightly overcooked. 3 dipping sauces came with the platter. First time here. My son and i enjoyed it very much. The place was packed. We made an open table reservation. We got the beer cheese and pretzels appertizer. Many pretzels were given and very enjoyable. The loaded potate skins are not your typical skins but were excellent as well. Full rack of ribs were awesome with leftovers to come home. This use to be our go to place when I worked in Cincinnati. I have been there twice in the last month. They were not good experiences. The first time I chicken with pineapple. The chicken was over cooked and tough. The second time I got a burger and they would cook it medium. I asked for mayo because I figured the burger would be dry, and it was! Often visiting Cincinnati with my kids we like to try places that we do not have at home. Buckhead Mountain was one of them so we gave it a whirl. WAS SO IMPRESSED! Service was impeccable, I ordered the Bison Chili as an appetizer and it was delivered hot and delicious ASAP! Also ordered the Chicken that comes with pineapple and teriyaki but I had them hold the pineapple and put teriyaki on the side. Very good healthy dish as dinner was served with a huge basket of fresh, hot rolls with sweet butter. Kids shared a dinner and even with a tall beer our meal was sixty dollars. I would definitely return, and suggest all you reading to give it a whirl! They have a huge and open bar with several beautiful fireplaces. And if dining on an outdoor patio on the river it is a beautiful place to catch a sunset with the ones you love over a nice fire and a glass of wine! Cheers! read more

OMG, how terrible! I travel for business and eat out too much. My customers suggested this restaurant. I have been there many times, although years earlier. Of course, I said "Sounds good". The restaurant was the same, like a log cabin only expanded. We were seated immediately. The waiter was average in attendance and with remembrance of the orders. The wait for our lunch order was long. Rolls and cinnamon butter were delivered, which is their signature. They are as delicious as Krispy Kreme donuts. After a wait, I sighted a server in the distance with our order waiting for direction. Everyone ordered burgers, and therefore I did the same. I ordered a bison burger with broccoli instead of fries. The order finally arrived. Everyone's bun was stale and dehydrated, mine especially so. The burger was extremely dry. Granted, bison burger, very lean. This one, way over cooked. I turned to the broccoli. I ate two florets and discovered a long hair. The waiter did ask twice if everything was OK. My customers stated that is was and I did not contradict them. I did not want to make a scene and embarrass them. Bottom line, I will never eat there again. read more

Blue cheese coleslaw is awesome... just enough large chunks to give it a blue cheese accent... the fries are coated and very good. First off, the food. Buckhead HAS to be microwaving their food. It came too fast. You don't whip up Hot Brown in 4 minutes, unless you made it ahead and put it in the microwave. I observed this from other tables as well, they got their food almost *too* quickly. Also - the gravy wasn't warm throughout - something that occurs when you use a MICROWAVE. Apples came out molten lava hot - microwaved (the dish was hot as well...) the "Manhattan Roast Beef" was on THREE pieces of bread, obviously to elevate what little stringy meat there was so the microwave would hit the underside. As mentioned, the gravy was warm in places, not in others. Green beans were terrible (those were sent back for the previously mentioned "lava hot" apples... rolls were almost non-existent, probably because bread in a microwave doesn't turn out that good. Second, the server - terrible. Didn't check on us, couldn't carry more than one thing at a time, slow, didn't ask to refill drinks, didn't take away used dishes, generally lax. The seating outside needs an upgrade, the umbrellas don't tilt, or serve much of a purpose. A sign says "don't feed the birds" yet servers and busboys throw things to them when clearing off tables. The manager (if there was one) never checked on us. This used to be a decent place, it's definitely gone downhill. It's on the "never again" list, and if a friend or relative suggests this establishment, I will promptly suggest somewhere else. read more

So food was 50/50. Half the food was messed up. The other half was ok. Don't get a steak there. The concept that a medium rare steak is 135 degrees in the middle has never been taught to the guy running the grill. Sent it back twice. The first time it was medium well. The next time it was medium. I was not going to try it for a third time. The kid's hamburger was cold. The second time out they finally got it correct. I have a theory about restaurant kitchens. First, when food is late coming out; something is always going to be messed up. Second, if your food is late the steak will always the thing messed up. The service was not great, but I felt like that was probably just our guy, because everyone else seemed to get food. Our server would disappear for 30 minutes at a time. I had to go get my own appetizer plates. I had to use somebody else's server to get to get the table bused. This is not a sit down and eat a meal with your family kind of place. Come here to slam beers and eat fried food with 60 of your closest friends. The beer was cold and plenty of selection. I believe this place very liberally uses the word "Grill" in their name. I would almost consider a lawsuit for malpractice after what will be forever known as "Great Steak Disaster of 2024". It should be called " Buckhead's Mountain Frier Place" as the fried food was a solid middle of the road. The worst part of the whole experience; as I am walking out mad, I see some guy eating on a perfectly cooked medium rare steak. I told myself, "He ordered it rare to get it cooked like that." While not the worst place I have ever ate I would still rate it as a 1.5 dumpster fire. read more

The patio seating is enormous. It's right on the river with plenty of parking. The servers are very friendly and inviting. We went for Father's Day brunch which starts at 11. They have a breakfast buffet that starts earlier. I loved the pulled pork and Cole slaw option. I'm not that big on breakfast. Everyone seemed happy. It was such a casual and free environment. I love the look of the place it's like a huge cabin on the river. They even have a fireplace for when it's cold. read more

Our server was confused when I ordered my beer because he had no idea it was on the menu, then the beer my family member ordered was not actually being served there anymore. Our server got weirdly defensive about it and didn't offer any recommendations. Then when we were ordering, our server got really intense with us, basically snapping at my sweet mom in response to clarifying questions about the menu. Honestly, the best part was how our server barely came back to check on us, since he was pretty unpleasant.
