Coach's has always been a go to for a great selection of drinks, service, a nice outside seating area, and food that impresses. Their burgers are absolutely amazing, and deserve trying! In house ground beef cooked to perfection. We had the Coach's Cheese Burger and the Beeb Burger. Both were very generous with toppings. Especially liked the Beeb Burger...bacon was excellent. Worth going out of your way 4-8 for superior food. Service friendly and excellent. Inside bar and outside area allow for live bands and room for groups. Highly recommend! read more

And the potato wedge fries are cut and dropped to order, soooo good, and hot ! It's a great neighborhood bar, with attentive and friendly hospitality. This place deserves more love and support. It's your friendly neighborhood bar and burger joint. It sure is a little gem, because my burger was absolutely delicious. The bun was toasted and inside there was a juicy, well-seasoned tender and THIN burger patty layered with just enough cheese, lettuce tomatoes and crispy bacon. The fries were also delicious--they were crispy savory potato wedges. This place is great and deserves your business. If you're into a laid back atmosphere and friendly service this is the place for you. There's seating outside and they allow dogs! As long as you go in to tell them you'll be sitting outside they'll serve you and make sure you're taken care of. I also love that their prices are cheap; you get a great sized burger, fries and a pickles for around 10-12 dollars depending on the type of burger and toppings you get. So delicious. Yum! The only downside is their kitchen is open Tues-Friday. The other days they are only a bar. If you are looking for a no frills, flavorful burger-- check this place out! How many years have I wasted just driving by Coach's Corner? What a shame! Last night, for the first time, I spent the evening there for the 2nd annual tapping of the Edmund Fitzgerald keg. What a wonderful place to be! Seldom do the all the attributes of a good bar/restaurant converge in just one location. First, it's a family business and has been for 30+ years. Husband/wife team and kids run the place and they care about their customers---most of whom they know personally. Second, the pub fare of burgers and fries is fantabluous. I LOVE my burgers juicy and sloppy and they do it the best. Food is only served Tue-Wed-Thu-Fri from 4 to 8 pm and I suspect it's so the owners can get away for a 3-day weekend. After 30 years, how smart is that? Brilliant! Third, the beer selection (both on tap and in the can) are unparalleled for a smaller establishment like this. Fourth, prices are reasonable, unlike many bars/restaurants these days where you have to drive a Brink's truck there to pay for it. Finally, the overall ambiance is just delightful, whether you're outside (by the fire pit) or inside. Located in downtown Newport, but removed from the craziness of the levy, it doesn't get any better (free on street parking and lot parking, too). This is going to be one my new haunts. read more

This is an update to my review of Coach's Corner. This is just a great, friendly neighborhood bar. The owners, Midge and Terry, are wonderful. Always friendly and welcoming. And a very professional and welcoming staff as well. We always look for draft beer, and they have a good selection, as well as a full service bar. They change the draft selections on a regular basis, frequently hosting "tap takeovers." Coach's is known for their burgers (deservedly, delicious), but I want to sing the praises of their salads, especially their Greek salad. You won't find it on the menu, but it's worth asking for it. Dark Romaine lettuce, red onion, black and green olives, tomato, peperoncini, feta cheese, etc. I always get mine with the grilled chicken. As a bonus, you can get the toasted garlic rye bread with it that I love. Just a great salad. They have a very nice outside area, with a fire pit that burns real wood (love that campsite smell), and have live music from time to time when weather permits. Fridays are quite crowded, so come early. Coach's is a true Newport gem. read more

I always overlooked Coach's because the exterior seems so unwelcoming. The building sits alone and needs a little bit of loving. However, I have some friends who like to enjoy Monday Night Football there so I've been frequently it lately. One major criticism is that they STILL let people smoke there. I do not get it at all. They do have a spot in the back where it is supposed to be smoke-free (and at times it is), however, those times seem to be when there are not many people up front smoking. Hah. Nonetheless, the owner/manager is extremely nice, and he will go out of his way to remember your name if he sees you in there more than once. They've got a great selection of beer and liquor, and the prices are extremely reasonable. AND I've heard their burgers are amazing. I haven't had a chance to come for lunch to try the grub, but this is definitely a spot that should not be overlooked for a quick lunch or when you'd like to have some drinks with friends. Just don't wear anything that needs to be dry cleaned because I can't promise you're not gonna smell somewhat like a cigarette by the time you leave. ;) read more

Here are the facts: - parking on the side lot= awesome - standard bar menu plus a really good choice of meal size salads and wings and stuff - serve food till 3pm I think - 10 beers on tap with more than a few local favs I really liked it here! I had a grilled chicken salad and it was very good. The chicken had great flavor to it and was very tender. I think I had the creamy vinaigrette with it. Thinking about it makes me want to go again this very minute! As for after the lunch hour, Couch's Corner offers the cozy atmosphere and friendly service that you would hope for in a neighborhood bar. Going back soon! read more

Great bar! Came here after work for a couple of beers. Inexpensive drinks, friendly bartender. Smokey, but from what I understand that's typical of bars in Kentucky. The bartender actually talked to me, which is more than I can say of most bars across the country. Best thing was they had all kinds of beer on tap: ipa, local brews, etc., which is way more than I expected for a dive bar. Definitely more than meets the eye. read more

Great neighborhood bar and grill in the East Row section of Newport. Didn't really go in there much in the past because of the smoke but it's been a non smoking bar for a year. Owners and bartenders Are pleasant and attentive. Very good selection of craft drafts and bottles. Terry mans the grill and Cooks up tasty burgers, sandwiches and fresh chunk fries. Once again I had the best burger in the greater Cincy area. You can't beat a fresh ground burger that only Terry the cook and owner of Coaches can make. I had mine through the garden with mayo on Texas toast. A side of his cajun potato's and i was set for the night. Caches has great beer selection on tap at reasonable prices. The crowd is neighborhood folks from around the east row of Newport and its easy to start up a conversation if you don't know anyone. Midge and Terry are great hosts and you always get a great meal and conversation. Oh, and yes they have the cleanest restrooms in Cincinnati area. read more

I cannot say enough good stuff about Coach's Corner. Their food is incredible. And if you are someone who is paranoid about eating out, you need not be fearful here. The chef barely trusts anyone else to cook, so he is constantly in the back supervising every single detail (of the maybe 2 cooks he has ever trusted enough to hire) because he genuinely takes pride in the food they are serving. It is the most refreshing feeling to know my food is being cooked by someone who cares that much. They make the most incredible vegetarian wrap, and everyone we ever bring here loves everything they order. The people who work here are fun and kind. The beer selection is vast, and the atmosphere is perfect. You can sit outside with your pup and friends in the middle of summer, listen to music on the patio in the spring, and watch the football on a large outdoor TV in the fall. The bar is lively if that is what you are in the mood for. Everything is clean through and through. You can come here, enjoy the people and the atmosphere and devour some incredible food. I had never heard of Coach's Corner before going yesterday. When I got there I realized it was one of those place you drive by all the time but don't really notice. Based solely on the exterior, you might be hesitant to check it out, but let me tell you, the burger I had was delicious. The meat was juicy and cooked well and it came on a huge keiser bun. I split an order of their hand cut wedges and those were great too. The prices are on point, my tab was 20 dollars for 2 beers, a burger, and a large order of fries. Aside from the food, the staff was very welcoming. Everyone was attentive and friendly. My only gripe is that they allow smoking inside, but it wasn't a deal breaker.
