I've been coming to the Green Lantern for over a year now. It's a fantastic neighborhood bar in Latonia where restaurant options are slim. This bar is ripe for your next adventure. The drinks are reasonably priced with a wide selection of beers and liquors for the cocktail of your dreams. The bar staff could not be friendlier. This trip (and most trips) I've ordered the wings, which are always a delight when a bar excels at making them. However I can also say their cole slaw and fried cheese cubes (made with pepper jack cheese) are among some of their other highlights. I grew up going to the Green Lantern, it was a little fancier back then. Now it's a bar first and a cafe second, which is the way of the world anyway. We stopped in on the Saturday of 4th of July weekend, which is usually very slow for restaurants. We were the only people in the place from 6-7pm, so they were very slow. We had the $1 chicken wings special and the fried pickles. The wings were pretty good, I'd get those again. The pickles were not good, super soggy and not cooked long enough, skip those. This was a 5 star bar experience. It's a hole in the wall neighborhood bar with great service, great food, cold beers and the Reds on the TV. We tried and loved the Goetz's grilled cheese, the burgers and the medium wings. The cheese steak was meh. The burgers were juicy and crispy with fresh tomato, lettuce and pickle. What more can you ask for? The wings were not breaded or saucy, but had perfectly crispy skin and great flavor. Prices were super reasonable too! The place was almost deserted when I arrived around 6:00. Norma, thee bartender/server was welcoming and engaging. Visiting Cincinnati, I wanted goetta, which they had. I ordered a grilled goetta a d cheese with a side salad - housemade ranch ( more like black pepper cream, but delicious) as the only dressing choice. Ambiance is dark dive bar. Service is great- Norma is outstanding! Salad was fresh and crisp, could only have been improved with croutons The sandwich was perfectly toasted, the goetta was what it should be in all of its bland glory. This little hole in the wall bar has been in business for almost 100 years. It is obviously a local hangout, but serves good food. We had fish tacos and Goetta grilled cheese. Both were very good. Live karaoke had the place hopping! Definitely worth a visit! read more

If you're looking for a place to unwind, have good food and fun, this place is for you. The name Green Lantern does not appear on the outside of the building, so if you're not from the neighborhood (like me) you might drive past it at first. I found this place on Yelp while searching for a place to eat after a soccer game. Based on the other reviews and a glimpse at the menu, my husband and I were sold. We started off with the Hanky Panky, which was the perfect size for two. I then had the Piggie on Pretzel sandwich with the homemade Saratoga chips -- both of which I highly recommend. My husband ordered a burger, which he loved, but he also ordered the battered fries, which neither of us liked. After stuffing our faces, we decided that we were in the mood for something sweet. We shared a piece of chocolate lava cake, which didn't stay on the plate for long. While we dined, we enjoyed some basketball on the TV before karaoke night began. What fun! And the folks who got up to sing were pretty good. I'd also like to give a shout out to the staff, who were really friendly. Skipped twice on karaoke, took an hour for appetizers, they forgot one of the drinks, messed up two of the orders, luckily they didn't charge for it and the blue cheese dressing that they forgot and brought later was actually just mayo. Quick stop for dinner. Typical dive bar setting with a patio and additional seating outside. Bartender was patient and great, manager was also kind as well! Tried their chicken strips, tots and pizza. Chicken strips were hand battered and def not frozen, but honestly they didn't hit the spot. Not what I was wanting maybe? A little burnt and chewy. And how could anyone go wrong with tots? You can't, they were tasty! But the pizza...the pizza is where it's at! They make their own dough and the sauce is phenomenal. 10/10 recommend the pizza. I've lived two blocks away for three years and never been here which is a tragedy.. the drinks are *relatively* limited as far as drafts, but it's totally made up for with the fact that wells are less than $4..... This place rocks! So much so, that my experience at The Green Lantern brought me out of my hiatus from reviewing. The unassuming exterior doesn't do it justice! The night I visited, I ordered a few gin and tonics, fried pickles, and tots with cheese. This place looks like a hole in the wall bar in the middle of nowhere, but the food here is really good. We came down to karoke with my grandpas friend. Lauren loves to sing and its hard to find a place she can that isn't too much of a bar. So we went here and until 9pm there are a bunch of kids and its a full blown restaurant. It was surprisingly crowded, but I think that had to do with the UK game. My little lady and I both got to Karoke one song, but there was a long list of singers so we didn't get another round before 9pm hit. The food is a bit of a surprise here because it is done really well. Not a fancy menu, its just your basic pub fare of burgers, wings, and sandwiches- but it was all done right. I got the pub chips which are kettle chips with cheese and BBQ sauce on them. They are deliciously greasy, and bad for you yummy. These are beer soaking chips for sure, but man are they good. Lauren got wings and she liked them. My gpa also got wings but plain ones. My grandma got the Ruben and said it was really good. They come here to eat all the time and haven't had a bad dish yet. You should check this place out on Wednesday nights for Karoke. Its a laid back, fun, hillbilly bar with good food. They do have a full bar but be prepared to drink beer or regular drinks. We came at about 6:30 and there were only a couple people there so we got seated quick. We ordered the goetta balls as an appetizer and while i really liked them, my boyfriend didn't. The main food wasn't anything special to me, it just tasted like greasy bar food. I got the chicken tenders while my boyfriend got the goetta grilled cheese. He loved it, but it's something you can make at home. The seasoning on the fries was amazing but mine almost tasted undercooked. All in all, the place had a good vibe, even if the food wasn't anything amazing. Just feels like one of those family owned bars. read more

Very friendly staff and the food was excellent- it's bar food straight from a kitchen and not a freezer. It's not light or particularly healthy but when you want a satisfying burger on a seared pretzel bun with fresh cut fries.. this place delivers. The price is great and while the beer selection isn't deep - you will find some of your local craft beers as well as the domestics. This place is definitely worth a visit. read more
