Looking for a place to have a bite to eat after a show at the Aronoff Center. Looked on Yelp to see a few of the reviews. Seemed very positive. When we walked in, a gentleman setting near the door immediately saw and said that Madonna's was only serving appetizers. He suggested to go across the street to another establishment. (Still looking for that place) We aren't or weren't picky late at night. Only thing I figured he prejudged us based on how were dressed. We were in dress casual clothing from being at the show. Divey bar in downtown Cincy. Pretty cozy atmosphere with some TVs for catching a game or just grabbing a beer with some friends. Kitchen is open late which is nice. Tried the wings, which were pretty good, meat fell right off the bone, but no Knockback Nats. Basket of Onion rings was sweet, they really load you up, you get your monies worth. Service was pretty good too, bartenders were friendly and conversational. Great spot for a beer or two. read more

This was my second time giving them a try. The first time the service was absolutely horrid, but the food was really good so I figured people were just having a bad day. Fast-forward to today I called 21 times yes 21 times and nobody ever answered the phone for me to place a to go order. I have been working in Downtown Cincinnati for 10 years, and had never been here. This week I was told that they served a great burger. So on that recommendation 3 of us made the walk up to try it out. The inside is cozy, inviting, and clean. I felt comfortable as soon as I walked in. The service was great, never waiting on anything. Then the burger. I ordered the "Big Daddy" which is a double cheeseburger made with two 1/3 size patties, bacon and the works. It really blew me away. The burger was hot, toppings were fresh, and the patties had a great grilled flavor to them. The recommendation was a good one, I will definitely be back! read more

We visit Madonna's once a year from Indiana. It is always after the Opening Day game for the Reds. Over the last three years, I can definitely see a decline in the care that is being taken to maintain the bar. It was dirtier this year than it has been in the past and definitely could use some upgrades. Smoking is not allowed inside so there is an area right outside the front door where smokers go. The night we visited, as we were walking in we were greeted with patrons in the smoking area yelling at people that were getting in and out of cars. When we got inside there was an older gentleman that appeared to be so intoxicated that he could not keep his eyes open. When his eyes were open, he would spend it yelling gibberish towards us. This year, we were inside Madonna's for about five minutes total. Maybe it is better in the day???? We wont be back at night. read more

This is a fun, hole in the wall bar with really good food! I went here before a reds game. We had a couple of beers- they have a full liquor bar & an assortment of beers in bottles, no draft. There are many food options on the menu. You order at the bar & they bring the food out to you. Started with Mac & cheese bites-yummy! I had a grilled chicken wrap with chips & my son had the club. My wrap was big & very good! My son said his sandwich was amazing & it looked amazing- stuffed with Turkey, ham & bacon. The woman who took care of us was friendly & did a good job. Check this place out. It's not fancy, but some of the best food is found in small hole in the wall bars like this one. read more

Badass crew! Showed up at about 1:30 in the morning after a long travel day. Asked for a drink and chips. Bartender came back with a giant tray of chips for me! A few minutes later he seemingly could tell I was starving and from out of town so he asked me when the last time I ate was and then offered to fire up kitchen for me. Is it appropriate to clap after you've eaten such a delicious burger? If not then these people are gonna be looking at me weird in a few seconds. It's been a while since I've had a handmade burger that was charbroiled but you can actually taste it but today was the day! This place is a dive bar but I think it's super underestimated in terms of food. Specifically the burger. With so many New American food places sprouting in this area, it's kind of hard to distinguish what makes good burgers but this place has them all beat. In both taste and in price. It's been a long time since I was surprised by food but I would definitely recommend this place for an after work stop before heading home. Not good. Waited ten minutes for a waitress before having to go to the bar ourselves to order. Was asked to pay in advance because of shift change. I ordered 10 wings (over $15) and was told they were "out" of teriyaki sauce, so I opted for BBQ. less then five minutes later, my wings show up. Obviously, they were already made and sitting under a heat lamp. When they arrived, they were cold and soggy. No fries, just soggy cold wings and some veggie slivers and a couple cups of bleu cheese. I couldn't complain because I couldn't get any interest from a waitress, because there were no waitresses; only bar tenders, and I'd already paid. I'll consider this a $21 dollar lesson and move on with life. Move on and find better food elsewhere. read more

Madonna's is unapologetically a dive, and I unapologetically really dig this place. Don't come here because you want a fancy-pants cocktail, come here because you want a drink with (or without) friends in atmosphere that just feels like everyone knows each other. There's a pool table, a room full of generally friendly people, and a lot of alcohol... For some good ol' no-frills fun, this place definitely hits the spot. I started coming here years ago when I worked for a downtown hotel, it was always a favorite among the other employees and was one of our after-work pit stops. Sometimes the dive bars feel click-y or have unwelcoming staff, but I've not found that to be the case at Madonna's. Pretty decent service. The food is good and I wish the kitchen would stay open longer but over all it's a vibe the environment is clean.

This place is certainly a dive bar with cheap beats. Open seating with a billiards table that sits in the middle of the room. There is out door seating but primarily designated for smokers.
