Larry's is everything a neighborhood bar should be. Tucked away on a quiet corner in Covington, it's welcoming, super friendly and has a great soundtrack. If that's not enough, then you need to know that it offers reasonably priced drinks and has a small, perfectly executed menu of hot dogs and tater tots. I had the Caliente (all beef, cheddar cheese, pickled onions and jalapeños, avocado and cilantro), my husband had the Cincinnati Cheese Coney and we split a large order of bacon ranch tater tots. Everything was good and the tater tots are a must have. Bartender Drew was great, learning our names and remembering them when my daughter happened to stop by later that evening. There's a pinball machine, pool table and a memorable ladies' room. We look forward to our next visit! read more

We popped into Larry's on a Sunday afternoon with some friends. The social distancing was SUPER well done, everyone was following rules and staying in their areas. The vibe in Larry's is really fun, the staff were incredibly cool, and the drinks were great. What more can you ask for out of a bar? OH! The hotdogs! It does get better! The hotdogs were worth the visit all on their own! We tried the chili dog and the Chicago style, which were both really stellar. I for sure see Larry's being a regular stop for us in the future. Living only a few doors down, I had been waiting for Larry's to open for quite some time. Now that its doors are open, I've been a couple times and can safely say that I'll be back! Larry's is, by design, a dive bar (and a great one!). You can feel the home-y vibes when you walk in the door. The drinks are cheap and the food menu looks great (hot dogs and tater tots), though I have yet to partake in the food. There is a pool table right at the front of the bar when you enter and there's lots of seating available (even a side patio area). The drinks seemed to be a decent price as well (vodka sodas were $4). There's almost always parking on Philadelphia street, but be warned...this place is the kind of bar that makes you want to stick around and have another. The bar staff are all super nice and are quick to put a drink in your hand. Since it's such a short stumble away (and the fact that it's just awesome), I'll be back soon! read more

They have gourmet hot dogs with unique & tasty toppings, a yummy beer selection, daily specials & the BEST tater tots!! Pre-pandemic you could play pool as well & there are two other arcade games (pac-man, i think? and a pinball machine). Speaking of pandemic - they've done an awesome job of following guidelines to make it safe for everyone. MOST IMPORTANTLY - the bartenders are super hospitable. Good service goes a long way! They recognize us when we come in (and it's not like we're in there all the time, or even weekly) & remember our drink preferences. LASTLY! They've always got a good playlist on. Look, it's all about the little things and I love that they've thought to curate background sounds that match the overall atmosphere. Last night was my first time visiting Larry's. I couldn't have had a greater experience. The bar feels like one of those local pubs you can relax in after work or unwind with some friends for a low key night out. So happy this bar is in Covington! It fits in so well with the personality of the city but is also unique. The 70s dive bar vibe is fun without being campy and cliche. The drink prices are in line with what I expect around town, same with the food. Also to note, they use an air fryer to make the tater tots so no oil cross contamination for people with food allergies. I used to be a huge fan of Senate in OTR. I started getting Take out from Larry's when Senate closed. The hot dogs at Larry's are not as intricate or themed, but they are also not as pretentious or as expensive. (Senate also didn't have carry out) I love the Hawaiian and the Frisco.
