We recently ate at Cincinnati Lager House before a Reds game and had a great time. First off, the location is awesome - right on Cincinnati's Iconic Riverfront, just steps away from Great American Ballpark. The atmosphere and vibes get a 10/10. The restaurant spans two floors, with a large outdoor seating area that is covered. The menu is quite expansive. I tried a buffalo chicken wrap and it was delicious. The beer was also good, and they have a happy hour from 3-6pm on weekdays which makes it even better. If you're looking for something to do during the week, they have live music as part of "Rockin' the Roebling Summer Concert Series" which takes place every Thursday (May 21 - September 10) from 6-10 PM, on the grass area right off the outdoor seating. Starting this off by saying our server was excellent. It was an incredibly busy night with both a concert and a game happening, and he handled everything very well. We had a reservation for 5:45 p.m., were seated around 5:55, and didn't see our server until about 6:10. That wasn't an issue at all as we completely understood how busy the restaurant was. We didn't get our food yet and staff began preparing the room for what appeared to be a private event. They weren't just clearing empty tables, they were completely removing tables and chairs from the dining room. Before long, it was just our table and one other left in the room, and it became very obvious that they were trying to rush us out. Our table was directly in front of the stage, and the DJ suddenly began testing the sound system at full volume while we were still eating. I have hearing loss, so having a speaker blasting directly behind me was extremely uncomfortable. What I believe was the owner then approached our table and asked, "Would it offend you if he starts testing the music?" I responded that I understood they needed to test, but asked if we could move to the bar since the music was so loud and it obvious they were clearing the room and rushing us out. Instead of answering my question or offering any accommodation, he simply replied, "Well, the bar and the whole place is bought out," and let the loud music testing continue. We were left trying to finish our meal with the speakers blasting directly behind us. What I don't understand is why reservations were accepted for 5:45 p.m. if management knew the restaurant would be completely bought out at 7:00. If there was going to be such a limited amount of time to dine, that should have been communicated when the reservation was made. Instead, management made us feel like an inconvenience although we were paying customers. read more

Lager house is a solid choice for a day by the banks. I was at the Freedom Center for a concert and had a little time to spare. My husband and I shared an appetizer platter and a house salad. Everything we had exceeded expectations. The wings were well sauced and meaty, the battered fried pickles were some of the best I've had, and the house salad was made with care- not what you might expect from a place specializing in beer. I'd been to this place a few times when it was still Moerlein Lager House and enjoyed it then too. When I heard the name had changed, I was curious if the place had changed. Overall, not really, just a name change and I'm still curious as to why. The service is still great, the food is still excellent, and the feel is still pretty laid back. The beer is still very tasty too. My good friend and I came here after a Bengals practice game for a bite snd some brews. We got the Appetizer Fest Trio with Sriracha dry-rubbed wings, southwestern style egg rolls, and onion rings. For our brews, he had the Tiger Stripe IPA, and I had the Traditional Amber Ale. Our server, Sabrina, was extremely friendly and attentive. Our trio came out pretty quickly even though they were a bit busy. Everything was very good, especially the wings, because I love a good dry rub. The beers were great too and I especially liked my amber since it was an ESB style. I came in for dinner before a Reds game having only eaten a Cliff Bar all day long. I was ready to accept the Cincinnati Stack Burger challenge. It was one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. greeted immediately upon arrival and sat next to the window, beautiful view of the bridge but not much of anything else. it was nice being close to the river though, just a walk across street for smale park access. parking was just downstairs which was convenient and only cost $4 for the hour we dined. Salad was fresh and crispy, the burger was amazing although it couldve used a bit more of the peanut butter, it was very light and barely came through, the bacon couldve been a bit crispier as well, but overall it was a great burger and the fries were amazing 10/10. Lunch was a bit pricey, 2 burger week special burgers, a side of fries and 2 side salads came out to be $55. but overall it was a decent meal and great environment. We visited the Moerlein Lager House restaurant while spending the day at the Christkindl Market in Cincinnati--it's conveniently located right next to the restaurant. What a fantastic find! The décor is stunning--rustic yet contemporary--and the whole place is spotless. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. I ordered the soup and salad, and both were absolutely delicious. My grandkids ordered from the kids' menu (cheeseburger and chicken tenders), and they loved their meals. My husband had a BLT and was raving about it for hours--and even days--afterward! We had a great dinner at Moerlein. Reservations were easy to make online and we were seated right away. Our food was great. The kids meals weren't super saucy, but that's my preference when we are eating out. I had the wedge, fresh and plenty of bacon, and the spicy corn chowder, which is not spicy but is very good. My husband's steak frites were also excellent. The traditional Bavarian pretzel came out as a normal, not giant pretzel. Our server was excellent though and apologized and made it right. My wife and I were in Cincinnati for a long weekend and we decided to hit up a Reds game. Afterwards, we decided to try this brewpub, since I love craft beer. It is a large place with lots of tables and we were seated on the outside patio on a perfect day. I ordered a 22 oz IPA and it was great and came in a really cool mug. Our server was great and we actually chatted with her for about 5 minutes and she was super nice. I ordered a creamsicle beer that was really tasty as well and I got the Greek salad for some food, which was huge and was just fantastic. Lots of feta and olives and one of the best I have had. Most of the dishes we saw could easily be shared and all looked good, I should have ordered the fried pickles, looking back. A total must try and walking distance to the stadium. read more

Visited Moerlien for a birthday brunch and I was quite impressed. It's not typically the first place you hear mentioned when it comes to brunch but they should definitely be on the list! We had a party of almost 20 people which I know can be chaos at times but our server Justin executed flawlessly! He was playful, attentive, and even offered to be our DJ lol! Now to the food, it was all so delicious and not a single person had a complaint. I tried the buffalo chicken wrap which I loved however I've had way better Brussel sprouts at other locations in the city. My friend got the chorizo omelette and said it was very good. The bison eggrolls are no longer on the menu but they were able to make them and wow I'm glad I got the chance to try it because they were phenomenal and should be added back!! Lastly, they have mimosa flights and pitchers if you are looking for those options. This place is great for large parties, families, or friend outings. I will return! read more

Patronized this restaurant in downtown Cincinnati for a Reds game. Sat at the bar on what seemed like a very slow day. Had lunch and a beer. Paid with credit card as most do. Left a very reasonable tip for service that frankly didn't deserve much of one. Traveled back home after a long weekend and discovered on my credit card statement that the bar tender helped herself to an extra $25. Luckily I always take a pic with my phone of the receipt post tip. Called the manager early the following week and they immediately refunded the money but offered zero apology. One has to wonder how many patrons of this restaurant get taken for small amounts like this and don't notice? read more

Located next to Great American Ballpark in the Banks area on the Ohio river. This location has a really good kitchen. The staff is very attentive. We attended a bourbon food pairing event hosted by Cincinnati's own ambassador of fine spirits and local history, Molly Wellmann. Her events are known for being very informative and very well presented by Molly. The food was well prepared and well matched with selected bourbons. A great event as are all of Molly's' events. Lager house is a great place to bring out of town guests and look out on the river. Stop in their new bourbon bar located just off the lobby.....and look for the spot in the lobby where 1st base was located in old Riverfront stadium. It has been seven years later since my last review and Moerlein Lager House is still going strong. If you're in the Banks and looking for a good lunch or dinner, this is the place to come. They also have weekend brunch, which I went to for the first time this weekend. When you are upstairs, you have a great view of the park and the river. It happened to be a snowy day, so it felt like we were in a winter wonderland. It was quite busy, but our waitress did the best she could with making sure that we had everything we needed. I ordered the Moer Biscuit Stack, and it was pretty good, except that the eggs were overcooked. This is a staple restaurant of the Banks, and I hope it stays for many years to come. read more

It's a girls night out downtown Cinci before the 4 Divas concert. 6 of us. We made a reservation for 5:30 and got seated right away. My friend had a scooter land I stayed with her to go on the elevator for the second floor where we sat with a gorgeous view of the bridge. Drinks were prompt, One friend got a lemon drop and said it was good. I ordered fried pickles for an appetizer and they were the bomb! I got a Reuben with fries and it was delicious. Exactly how you would expect a Reuben to taste. We all loved our food. The blackened .chicken Southwest salad looked delicious as well as the Greek salad. Another friend got the chicken caprese pesto sandwich. She said it was a little dry but our waiter was so attentive he brought out a couple things for her: mayo and a pesto type sauce. Our family stopped here while in town for a baseball game. Very convenient as it's right by the ball diamond. We ordered the cheese steak sandwich, buffalo chicken wrap (minus the buffalo sauce), BLT and chicken salad sandwich. We were all very happy with our choices, we all finished our meals!! My son and I subbed the French fries for brussel sprouts, these were not our favorite we've had, you can tell they'd been sitting awhile, soggy and not hot. We have about an hour drive to Cincinnati, so when we wanted to go for Cincy Burger Week, I did my research and decided Moerlein Lager House had the tastiest sounding choices. Most of the participating restaurants had one, or maybe two choices of burgers, but Moerlein had three and they all sounded delicious! My husband and I met our daughter and her boyfriend on a Saturday around 1pm. We got right in, it wasn't as full as we expected. We started with drinks and the chili cheese fries appetizer, which was very good. A few of us also got wedge salads, which was a nice contrast to the heavier part of our meals. Finally, we ordered what we came for, the burgers! We got one of each of their specialty burgers and asked for steak knives so we could split them 4 ways. Our server suggested a few additions to them, a fried egg on the bacon glazed donut burger, and guac on the nacho burger and she was spot on--they were fantastic additions! We made reservations for Friday night, prior to FC Cincy game. As usual with reservations, we were taken right back to a table right away. Moerlein is bright and with ceiling to floor windows- you enjoy the river view from most any table. We ordered some appetizers- the fried pickles and the triple dip (guac, roasted corn salsa and pimento dip). Both were great. The batter on the fried pickles was crunchy. The triple dip honestly doesn't need the soft pita unless one of the dips was hummus. It really doesn't go with the other three. The chips were good. For dinner we had the bison meatloaf, squash Wellington with a side of garlic mash and a German sausage platter. The good: The German sausage platter was very flavorful. The garlic mash & the kraut were so good together. The not so good: The meatloaf slices were so dry. You will be able to see it in the picture. 100% sliced pieces left into the fridge then reheated. The garlic mash was good, the wilted spinach tasted sour. The bad: The squash Wellington. I love and I mean love Brussel sprouts. These were sour like the spinach- was so odd. The presentation was very nice but the HUGE let down was the "flakey crust". It was anything but. This tasted like it had been made, refrigerated & then reheated in the microwave. I cannot be convinced otherwise. The color was there, as if it had been at one time crisp, but it was gummy and tasted like leftovers in an open fridge. The highlight was the squash inside. Dessert: We decided to try the raspberry tiramisu. The look of it was sloppy and off putting- favor was tart and good. Dessert drinks: Two martinis. One Espresso and one grasshopper. The grasshopper was as expected- chocolate mint. The Espresso wasn't the typical strong, bold rich flavored type you expect. It was like a heavily sugared Starbucks drink and alcohol. Not bad but not what a typical espresso martini is. Service: She was amazing, very nice and she was super busy. We did see another a worker hurt herself- she went to clean a table and prior, a male server had placed a wet floor sign (after a spill was cleaned up) a little bit hidden by a chair. When she rounded the corner, it caused her to step on it which it slid and I think she turned her ankle or hurt her knee. We hope she is ok! read more
