The name is a bit deceptive. It's near the river but not exactly on the river. In fact, there is no outdoor seating and even if there was you wouldn't be able to see the river. Having said that, we enjoyed a tasty lunch at this local bar and grill. The service was good, the food was good and the prices are reasonable. We had their fish sandwich ($13) and their Hot Sausage sandwich ($11) and both come with one side. Portions were ample but not so big as to have left-overs. They have a full bar with a big beer selection. Part of the place is a dance floor and stage where they have live music on certain days. It's popular with the locals so it can get crowded, especially on weekends. Free parking in their lot.

This bar/restaurant has ample accommodation for country line dancers and live entertainment. The pizza is pretty good; they have a great deal for their largest size! This is a local favorite for families, dancers, and seniors to spend time together for special occasions, or just because. The staff is really friendly, energetic and efficient. Your needs are well taken care of at Jim & Jack's.

The Meat Lovers Pizza

A nice lively location that is a good spot to catch nightly games and live music. Genuinely the best pizza I've tried to date in Cincinnati, with other good options on the menu as well, including the fish sandwich. Large portion sizes for prices as well. The servers and owner are extremely friendly, and this is a location we continue to come back to.

Hit the dance floor!

Had a great group outing for dinner and dancing with the band Deuces Wild Burgers and wings were excellent. Service was quick and with a smile and our drunks were never empty. This is a classy traditional country dance venue and hospitality is number one for them. It's always a party at J&J. See ya there!!

Stage next to our table, the kids had so much fun playing on it

Christmas Eve brunch with my family this year was such an amazing time!! We had beyond exceptional service from a few different servers and ordered multiple appetizers. The service and variety of food made our Christmas extra special, especially after not seeing each other in awhile. Highly recommend their pizzas, pretzels, loaded tots, fried pickles, pretty much everything was super tasty. Thank all of you who worked on Christmas Eve to make my family's year end so special. The only other time I came here was my grandmas 70th birthday and great environment for any occasion. Very family oriented and conscientious to ensure everyone is satisfied with their experience. Will definitely be back!

This is not a 14 dollar piece of fish imo ... what happened to the Codfather ? That was less expensive than this ? .... Joe Biden I reckon .

Not what it used to be unfortunately. Money wise . They used to have the Codfather guess that's a no go for now . Don't know when or if I'll be back :( Thanks Joe Biden . 5 stars for food 1 star for value buy that sandwich for 14 bucks to have the lady charge extra for a extra tarter sauce lol ok goodbye .

GREAT pizza (SW egg rolls too!!), the staff is the friendliest, and one of the only places in Cincinnati that serves Busch Light (husband's requirement). Huge venue, easy to stay socially distant right now. The owner is one of those guys that treats you like family the moment you walk in; a real gem of Cinci!!

We had a great dinner last night. This restaurant seems a little off the beaten path and does not look like much from the outside; however, it is very spacious and had great good. There is cool decor around the restaurant including, jersey's, old photos, and signs on the walls. There was a nice bar with about 18 beers on tap as well as a nice selection of liquor. They have live music on some night and on others a DJ. We were a little early and didn't hear the DJ last night. Outside there were tables set up as well and some Cornhole boards too. We were greeted by a friendly host who seated us promptly. We were then waited on by friendly staff. We ordered the Bavarian pretzel bites which came with queso as well as the loaded tater tots. The tots came with queso cheese, crumbled bacon, green onions, and jalapenos. The appetizers did not take long to come to our table The pretzels tasted amazing and the queso had a little zing to it. The tots were to die for. I would highly recommend. They were crispy and had some bite to them thanks to the queso and jalapenos. I had the Italian meat lovers pizza which had Capicola ham, Genoa salami, Italian sausage, and pepperoni. The pizza was superb. It had a nice crunch to it and was not too doughy. My son had the cheese pizza and enjoyed it. My wife had the country club wrap and a side salad. The salad was fresh. She enjoyed the wrap as well. Overall a great place to eat, drink, and listen to music.

Ah Jim & Jacks on the river, A westside staple! Conveniently located roughly ten minutes from downtown Cincinnati. With its small town hospitality and family owned friendly service it seems like it would be located a lot farther away, fortunately for us it is not. Jim & Jacks offers everything that bars were built on and unfortunately are rare to find anymore. Lucky for you and I they have it. The location is convenient but not congested with multiple other establishments making parking a dream come true. The owner is very hands on and is never to busy to ask how things are going. The food and drink selection is rather wide and all of it is worth a try. The live entertainment is what they use to draw in the crowd and rightfully so. It is quite spectacular, they constantly provide the best live entertainment for there audience and do it often enough for you not to be able to forget about. They seem to aim more towards the country crowd which I am not particularly fond of but to each its own. However, if you like to dance look no more because Jim & Jacks puts its money where its mouth is in the dancing realm. The food menu has changed a few times in the last couple of years. Which is great that they are changing it up to keep people returning. I would have to say that my favorite part of it is when the owner is available to make breakfast, he makes a mean western omelette, the bloody Mary's are standard but solid. I've never had anything off of the dinner menu I didn't enjoy. From what I have been told he has a long time friend help him with the dinner menu who is a genius in the kitchen. The CODfather is the staple sandwich and needs no explanation due to the name. I have heard a lot of people say that this is an "old timers" bar and I would disagree and go on to say that this is an establishment with class and respect to not allow people that are going to tarnish its good name inhabit it. The crowd is as good as it gets, the regulars are as friendly as it comes and you just can't beat the loyalty. As far as the decor and drink selection goes they are both pretty up to date inside has been recently renovated and looks amazing, the dance floor is brand new. The previous one had some mileage on it so they had to bring in a new one. The only complaint I have is that they do not offer any leisure sports. I think they could really capitalize off of a large Jenga set on the patio or cornhole on the inside when they have no band playing or even a special area out back. They are doing a decent job in the craft beer world, a few solid local breweries and all of the basic known imports. The liquor selection is something special, they have damn near everything you could want out of a bar plus some. Overall Jim & Jacks is a great place to relax and become a regular. The service, prices and products are all worth the drive if you aren't a westsider and as far as westsiders not familiar with them it's a place to make friends and memories. What more could you ask for?

My husband and I visited Jim and Jack's for the first time last night. We stopped in for dinner and also to check out their party room. My husband ordered the codfather and he said it was good. I ordered the Italian sausage and it was delicious! I needed to eat it with a knife and fork but it was one of the best I have had anywhere in town. The party room is very nice. The servers and hostess were friendly. On a Sunday night this place attracts an older crowd. Most came in for the live band. We did not stay for the music so

Stopped in for dinner before the rowdy weekend crowd straggled in. Service was friendly. This is a bar. They have food. Do not expect miracles. We ordered the suggested loaded tater tots, then some chicken wings and egg rolls. In elementary school I loved when the cafeteria served tater tots. There isn't much you can do to tater tots to make me turn up my nose at them. This place tops them with green onions, bacon, queso and jalapenos. I'm not a big fan of the jalapenos, but the tots were good. I dipped them in sour cream. The chicken wings weren't great but weren't the worst I've had either. Egg rolls were a mistake. They were overcooked and served with some sauce...hollandaise maybe? This is food you eat when you are intoxicated. Even then-don't get the egg rolls! That being said, this is mostly a bar. The drinks were good and strong. Dr McGillicuddy's is a common ingredient in the cocktails. Tiki Torch is delicious. Beware-no price listed for mason jar drinks on menu and those go down way too easy!

The space is open, bright and well decorated making it very inviting for brunch. You order at the counter from the menus placed along the wall then food is delivered to your table. The various brunch items all sounded very inviting so I was having trouble deciding what to order. So I got a recommendation to try the Shakshuka. Not sure how to pronounce it but when it arrived it was just the right portion and quite tasty for brunch. It's a bowl with a red pepper sauce and feta cheese and kale along with eggs sunny side up. The dish is served with pita so you can do a little bit of dipping in the tasty sauce. To accompany our food we selected the mimosa service and bloody mary pitcher. A pitcher is just perfect for sharing. And the mimosa service was delightful. The server arrived with a bottle of Prosecco and small carafes of orange, grapefruit and blood orange juices to mix yourself. The food was fresh and tasty with prompt delivery of our food to our table. Not quite a full service restaurant since you have to order at the counter but still a nice experience located downtown.

I do realize it is a chain but so far they have nailed all the prerequisites of what they need to be a successful chain in my opinion. Definitely recommended to get reservations the day before as I don't believe they take reservations the day of. Ambiance is friendly and warm and service has always been really good! The food is the big highlight though. The food here is just plain amazing. The main course of chicken to all of the side dishes they have. The spoon bread to the sweet potatoes to the mac and cheese, it's all good. It is definitely one of the big reasons we go there. Looking forward to coming back again soon! Bring a big appetite.

A couple notes I'd share with the restaurant: the entrée prices feel a bit high, and the gravy was unfortunately too thick and under-seasoned for our taste. I'd definitely give this place another try, but I wouldn't order the gravy again. They also missed one of our entrées, so my daughter didn't get her food until about 18 minutes after everyone else. The place is bright and friendly with what appeared to be many regular patrons. Our server was nice and helpful. I ordered an omelette with a hotcake and he got two eggs over easy with goetta. Our meal came with toast too. We ordered rye and whole wheat. Candidly, the food didn't have any flavor. The potatoes were the most bland. My veggie omelette had large sliced vegetables inside vs smaller pieces. The huge hotcake was thick and I'm guessing that's the difference between a hotcake and a pancake. It was good but not great. Glad we stopped by. Atmosphere very nice, service was great. We won't return due to the food. Just not good, no flavor.
