I've been here several times with varying service. Yesterday, my partner and I stopped in for a beer after hiking. I asked the bartender for a recommendation for crisp light refreshing lager. He was unwilling to give a suggestion for an unknown reason and came off as rude and judgmental. This is not the first negative interaction I've had with this guy, but yesterday was enough times for me not to return to this establishment. With the number of beers this place sells, you'd think they'd train employees on suggesting beers or at least on being welcoming to its patrons. Today, I went to the brewery Esoteric in Walnut hills and asked for a similar beer. The bartender/owner seemed delighted to give me a recommendation and to talk beer with me. And better yet -- they label by styles so it was super easy to load up on my preferred type (sours) during my brief visit from out of state. Beer on tap is available in small pours, which I appreciate. They were using plastic during my visit as it was right before the coronavirus shut down. The place was still bopping and full on the Friday night. Some even BYO'd pizzas, which smelled so good. If I lived in Cincinnati, I'd definitely frequent this spot. A friend of mine at work referred me to Higher Gravity. Her boyfriend works there on Friday's and told me to drop by. My boyfriend and I was in the area and wanted to check it out! I was in beer heaven when I walked in! Beer Galore is everywhere! They definately had a good selection of local and specialty craft beers! We sat at the bar and I had the New Holland Dragons Milk Reserve Mocha mint on draft and my boyfriend got the Breckenridge Nitro Irish Stout. Pricing was very reasonable. They do have enough TVs if you are a sports fan, besides that, they have board games, growlers to go, pick a Six pack to go if you want to mix it up. This place is awesome. Its a cathedral built out of beer. This entire place is literally a beer cave with supreme options! Easy to be overwhelmed by the options but the guys here helped pare my list down to about 6 beers for a flight. I enjoyed them all. My partner who hates beer found one he liked. If beer isn't your thing they also have wine. The service is incredibly friendly, they have plenty of room so you won't feel crowded. I also liked that they had board games for people to play while they were sipping on the brew of the day. This place has hundreds of beers from all over the country for you to check out, buy, take home or crack open to drink. This is the best place to go to on a Friday night when you're like meh I wanna try some new brews, I don't want to go to a crowded bar, I don't know if I'll like the beers at this new brewery, and I want some free pretzel rods/animal crackers. Higher Gravity is just the place to come and try all of these new brews out, and even some from places you've never heard of. Their tap is ever-changing, therefore their menu is on an IPAD! (so tech-savvy, obvi). Did I mention that you can buy the beers in several sizes or even get a flight if you're in the mood to try them all? I also really appreciate that they list the calories of the pints on tap next to their prices on the iPads. While some may not care for this, I think this just exemplifies how ahead of the game these guys are. On the note of catering to everyone, this place is extremely family-friendly. There are plenty of board games, books, free pretzel rods/animal crackers/a water dispenser, and high chairs to accommodate all. They even have the large, square pub-styled tables so you (or your kids) can spread out a board game and sip on some brews. I am extremely excited for this place, along with its vicinity to the new Melt and other food options in Northside (cuz food). This place is in a new development with the requisite mixed use spaces: apartments above, retail below. You can walk in off the street quite literally. I joined some colleagues for a Friday drink. The place is a temple to beer, with a dozen on tap and reams of bottles and cans for sale. They will fill a growler for you, and the high-tech filling station is pretty impressive, although it is so complicated that our bartender needed help navigating it. It dispenses automatically and with minimal foaming. I happened to have my growler on hand (who doesn't carry one around just in case?) and got a pretty good deal on Founders all-day IPA. I Had such a good time here even though I was only able to stay for about half an hour. It was not overly crowded at all on a Friday evening around 11 and it felt very airy and open which I like when I need a break from the dark and cramped "tavern" type bar. Jason was so helpful to explain how to buy their beers individually or in a six pack or wine from their cellar and made sure we had a good experience the entire time. Others have mentioned the snacks but we didn't see any or get offered any while we were here. They do however have menus from local restaurants scattered around so I'm sure you could have more substantial food delivered. I would come back the next time I'm in the neighborhood or even to find a new wine or beer to take to a friend's house. read more

I'm basic, so I asked if they had anything pumpkin (I know it's only September, but let people enjoy small things please!). The gentleman working listed off what they had and I decided on the ACE Pumpkin Cider. It was crisp and refreshing, just like carving a pumpkin. While they don't serve food, Higher Gravity has quite a few menus available for nearby establishments that delivery. Okay I came here the other night fully stumbling drunk after Melt over served me. I barely remember picking up a sixer but somehow it ran me 28 dollars. For six Rhinegeist and Bells brand beers? That's steep as hell buddy. I'm almost certain I was exploited because of my drunken state. It's not my fault my wife left mid dinner and Melt poured me double after double after double shot even though I could barely stand. I miss when bars and businesses that sold alchohol cared about their customers instead of just caring getting them all liquored up and essentially pick pocketing them. Also for the record while I did enjoy myself that night, as my original review indicates, I do not remember posting that review or calling my dad. Checked my outgoing calls and it adds up though. I did not realize this was a bottle shop in addition to bar! EXCELLENT selection of cold six packs, singles, and bombers as well as wine! The draft list is solid too! Due to events, I was here twice I one week an the tap list changed that fast! A nice mixture of locals and other on tap and a generous selection of hard-to-find and typical bottles. Why have I not been here sooner?! The only place around that I know of that has a rapid chiller. So, we bought a bomber of hard-to-find Three Floyds, they chilled it and we drank it-top notch experience. Perhaps my favorite part is that it also embodies Northside-so unpretentious helpful staff and eclectic clientele. I just checked this place out over the weekend. After sitting at the bar and enjoying one of the 14 beers on tap I was told they had just opened a day prior. For being a new bar I never would have guessed with how smooth and how put-together the place is. Looking around I saw families, dogs, and just random people having a good time and sharing their love of craft beer. I had the pleasure of meeting the owners and they were very open, personable, and friendly. They truly appreciated every single person that stopped in even if they just came in to take a look. Everything I could want and more from a bar and bottle shop! Exceeded all expectations - excellent selection of craft beers and unique wines, knowledgeable and inviting bartenders/staff, welcoming and hip ambiance, and dog and kid friendly (with water bowls and juice boxes - they're more than on top of it). I came for the first time for a work celebration (huge perk: you can bring your own food into the bar), and everyone raved about the event. I also ventured to Higher Gravity for the IU/OSU football game, and it was great to see that they had catered to all fans/customers by playing three different games throughout the bar (including the IU/OSU, UC, and one other game). Oh and they won me over when they had Zombie Dust on draft during the 3 Floyds tap takeover... Overall, this place is awesome and I love that Northside--and Cincinnati as a whole--can be part of this new niche. HIgher Gravity seems like it's going to stick around. I am such a fan of their large selection of beers, including 16 on tap and dozens and dozens for sale. It was great to see beers from California and Michigan, both previous homes of mine. Walking through the "beer cave," and checking out the bottles on the shelves felt like I was in a beer museum. I can tell it's a great spot to come by, grab your favorite obscure beer, and head back home. This is definitely one of the coolest bars I've ever been to. They have the largest selection of beer I have ever seen, and, if they don't have it on tap, they also sell TONS of packaged beers so they'll pull something out of a package for you and make it nice and cold, if it isn't already. It is impossible to come here and not find something you like. The bartenders are super knowledgable about really everything they have, which is impressive, because they literally have so much. There is lots of seating and is never really crowded. If you're lucky, and come here on a weekend, they might sell you some pizza as well! They are also pet-friendly, which is a huge plus. They don't have parking, but street parking around here generally isn't very difficult or expensive. read more
