I've been here several times over the years. Every time I seem to forget what a lousy bar it is. Caveat: if you live in the neighborhood and drink there every day, it's probably the best bar in the world. For us visitors who pop in from time to time, it's not good. Rude. The bartenders seem to hate the gentrification of the area, and they take it out on the customers. It's not an enjoyable experience. This bar offers nothing you cannot get elsewhere. Rhinehaus is one of our go-to bars to catch England's football matches. The atmosphere during the last World Cup was truly something to behold. Seemingly every Brit in town was at Rhinehaus and there were chants and songs and general hilarity. The bar is great about making sure it offers the games, even if it's early in the morning or it's on some obscure streaming service or it's just a friendly. There's plenty of TVs but you need to get there early for the big games if you want a seat. Rhinehaus doesn't serve food but they don't mind if you bring in breakfast for those early matches. There's always a good selection of draft beers on offer and they have got potato chips available if you can't bear to tear yourself away from the action and need something to ea. Bonus for the female fans - it's easy to get into the ladies restroom even when the bar is packed! read more

Rhinehaus is one of my favorite bars to visit in OTR. On the weekends especially, it can get crowded, but if you go towards the back of the bar you can usually find space near the tables. The drinks are reasonably priced which is always a plus. The bar staff is friendly, and willing to help you choose a beer if you ask for recommendations. Another one of my favorite things about Rhinehaus is the fact that you can bring food in. With Gomez practically being next door, and one of my favorite foods, this is a match made in heaven. Typically I will order my Gomez online, go pick it up and bring it back. This is a great bar to come to if you have a specific sporting event that you want to watch. Especially if there is not a big game going on, the TouchTunes jukebox is available, and I feel like the patrons always choose great music. Alright so I admit the first time I came here it was a really busy Friday night during Bockfest weekend and it was so crowded I couldnt even move (the space really isnt that big). Not down with spaces so crowded I cannot move. Since then I have come here a bunch more times, including late evening on opening day and have loved it. Rhinehaus is a new Sports Bar that has just opened in OTR. If you weren't looking for it you probably wouldn't know it was there. They don't have a sign yet, but it is a really beautiful historic building that has been rehabbed on 12th St between Main and Walnut. This place has more of a dive bar feel to me rather than sports bar, although they do have 12 tv's mounted all over the walls. Think: A dressed up version of Miltons. The space is small and quaint. It's really only one big room separated by two exposed brick columns. The front has the bar and some stools, the back has a great community table and some high tops. I love that they went with the community table. It promotes great conversation and honestly saves tons of room. The beer selection is solid, both bottled and on draft. I got a Stella and Justin got a Mt. Carmel, both delicious! The staff was very friendly and even though it was packed they got to us quickly. This location is amazing. Right in between the Main Street scene and bustling Vine Street, this is a great place to stop for a brew in between! read more

I discovered Rhinehaus while looking for a place to watch a Bills game on a monday night. Most places around OTR were closed, but Rhinehaus was not. So I checked it out and was not disappointed. The bartender was friendly and seemed to know everyone, and everyone seemed to be a regular. They have a solid selection of craft beers and good bourbons. This seems to be a beer and a shot kind of place, not a place for a fancy cocktail. They also have NFL ticket, so this is one of my go to places to watch Bills games when they are not on TV. Overall, this is a solid "dive" bar with a great atmosphere and cheapish drinks (for OTR). read more

Awesome bar with some great staff. They always have a great selection of craft beer on draft from excellent local stuff to quality imports that pair well with soccer. I've been for Reds games and other sports too and it's always a good time. Finally, finally, finally. A sports bar in Over the Rhine. One of the few things that have been missing in the area will hopefully set a trend for more of these places to come. Sure, I love sports and because of this I am their main demographic, but I feel like other people would like Rhinehaus even if they weren't sports buffs. The building is very OTR. Exposed brick everywhere, original brick columns separating the bar area and the communal area, nice woodwork, and TV's EVERYWHERE. At least 12 high quality Samsung flat screens line the walls of Rhinehaus. Any sport you would ever want to watch is going to be playing. Want soccer (or futbol)? They've got it. College basketball? Yup. High Stakes Fight Club? Well, maybe not but I am sure they would be open for anything. What I am saying is they are going to be playing the game or match you want to see. There's also a Golden Tee game in the back, because really, your not a sports bar unless you have a Golfen Tee game. The employees seemed really cool. The night we went, opening night, it was pretty packed. The bar was full and both areas were popping. We still managed to grab a drink very quickly. This was nice to see because I have a feeling they are going to be crowded a lot. Rhinehaus offers up a pretty good beer selection, which seems to be par for the course in OTR. There is no shortage of selection if you are looking for a good drink. This is what makes Rhinehaus attractive to those non-sports jocks. It is basically a great OTR bar with sports in the background if you feel so inclined to watch them (I will be watching them). Words can't describe how happy I am to have a sports bar around me. This is a place I can see myself coming to on my own to simply grab a drink, hang out, and watch a game or two. This is why Rhinehaus is going to be successful and I couldn't be happier. read more

Not only does Rhinehaus encompass historic OTR charm, the bartenders are friendly, there are TVs seemingly everywhere, they open early on the weekends for Premier League games (fine, "matches"), and there are shot specials and jager bombs*. I should mention that they have decent beer on tap, too. *I get it. I'm a little bit of a frat guy when it comes to drinking, but jager bombs are few and far between in the now-popular OTR drinkeries. read more

Great new bar in the heart of OTR! I love an old brick-and-mortar. $3 domestic bottles. The house was busy but you could still find a seat and didn't have to die of claustorphobia like you do everytime you're at Lackman. The service was prompt and friendly, the music was mid-90s awesomeness, and apparently this is a bit of a hockey bar, which is awesome. I spent the evening singing and watching the Blue Jackets attempt to get into the playoffs for the first time in franchise history while the Red Wings tried to avoid being held out of the playoffs for the first time in a quarter century. Jamie is awesome and was always willing to be sure I was able to see the game on the most convenient TV to where I was sitting. This alone is quite easy, as there are TV's everywhere. Seems to be a good soccer following here, and they have access to FIFA games. Should be noted that there is no food served here, but they welcome you to bring your own. Oh Rhinehaus, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. Let me start by complimenting them on their friendly and accommodating staff. They are always willing to help you find a good drink to enjoy, or turn on your favorite sports team's game. They have tons of TV's placed in great spots throughout the bar. Not to mention, you are able to bring in whatever food you'd like - which is pretty rare! (Goodfellas and Rhinehaus go together like peanut butter and jelly, by the way.) Now for the drinks... Let me TELL you how awesome the Rhino shots are. There's a bunch of different kinds. My personal favorites are the Mexican Rhino and the Fresh Rhino. Rhinehaus also has a fantastic draft and bottled beer selection. I love that they always feature everyone's favorite local breweries. What's also cool about Rhinehaus is that they open early on some weekend days to accommodate the growing soccer fan base. Not a lot of sports bars do that! Rhinehaus is a great place to grab a drink and bring in a bite to eat during the weekdays, but it also has a great nightlife scene on the weekends. Another awesome addition to OTR, but the fact that they're pet-friendly makes them that much better. Yay for drinking with cats and dogs! I have stopped by Rhinehaus several times to enjoy a beverage and it has always been a fun experience. i myself do not care to watch sports but the sports aspect of it is not overwhelming. Yes, there are a lot of televisions but they are at a very reasonable volume. I have always been able to hold a conversation with my friends without screaming, unlike at other sports bars. The location is great and they are open 7 days a week. Score! Justin M described the space best as "very OTR" with its brick walls, etc. The bathrooms are small but have been very clean each time I have visited. The beer selection is wonderful and always features several local beers. The bartenders are knowledgeable and have even offered me samples when I am unsure which beer to choose. Decisions decisions! I recently found out that you are able to bring your pet. After a long day out, Arlene (the cat) and I were on a bar crawl. I was on the hunt for a place to grab a drink with her when I decided to call Rhinehaus to ask. They generously told me that it was no problem for me to bring my leash-trained cat and greeted us when we arrived shortly after. The bartender was even nice enough to make me aware of when a dog entered. This was unnecessary but very thoughtful of him to do so. Oh Rhinehaus...I appreciate you...I'm just not in love with you. I've yet to have a pleasant experience at Rhinehaus. Every time I've visited Rhinehaus admittedly it has been after I've been out for a while and during peak bar hours. It's always PACKED. I'm sure that means a lot of people love it...I'm just not one of them. I have on multiple occasions actually given up on actually getting a drink because I've stood at the bar for far too long without even being acknowledged by the bartender. Rhinehaus is very much a sports bar and perhaps I'm just not a sports bar type person. The people are loud...the drinks over priced...the selection is lacking. Maybe if I went earlier in the day I'd have a better time, but frankly that's not something I even feel like doing at this point. I will say it's a nice addition to OTR and I'm sure many people are happy to have a place to watch games and what not. read more

I will start this review by saying we went here early on a Saturday morning to watch some Premier Leagues soccer so I can't attest to how this bar is at night or anything like that. The bar is really nice and has plenty of TVs to have all of the games on in the morning. When you add in that you can see any game since they have different subscriptions this is the perfect place to watch any team in Europe basically. The bartender was really nice and did a great job of helping everyone when it got really crowded. They have plenty of options for drinks and I am pretty sure this is the only bar in the city that even opens that early on the weekends to air the games. I will say as an added little incentive their shirts were awesome since I'm a big Rhino fan so I had to get one. If we are back in the area during the Premier League season we will be coming here to watch the games. read more

Oh how I hate sports bars, usually because is wall to wall TVs, crappy drinks and too many guys. BUT, then we have Rhinehaus, I was very much against Jack and Aaron opening a sports bar. Because I was worried it would be just that, and was very skeptical of their idea! They have sure proved me wrong, this place is absolutely awesome, sure they have a few TVs, but they are placed in a way that does not seem intrusive. They have tons of beer on tap and also they make very good drinks, not to mention the Jameson shoots are huge! I have not yet been able to go there and "just stay for a few drinks". Whether that has something to do with me or Rhinehaus, I don't know. The bartenders all know their stuff, and the wait to get served is rarely very long, even on busy nights! I don't know why they call it a dive bar, since I find it rather upscale and cool(for a sports bar). I have heard a few complaints about they don't serve food, but that just mean you don't drink enough! Drinking on an empty stomach is not only cheaper, but also a good way of dieting! If you don't like to alco-diet, there is the option of ordering a pizza etc, which they actually encourage you to do. There is also frequent food trucks parked outside, to help out with the American "must have access to food" way of thinking! So, I've been thinking for a while now that OTR was missing something in the bar scene. I love Lackman and Neons and Motr, but they didn't always fill a void that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Turns out, what OTR was missing was a Rhinehaus. With televisions always tuned to sports and an extensive offering of local beers on tap, Rhinehaus just feels comfortable. I admit, I'm a bit biased as the first time I entered the place there was a hockey game on one of their huge screens, but having been back a dozen (or many dozen... don't judge me) times since then, it's quickly becoming one of my favorite bars in OTR. The positives? Local beers on tap, reasonable prices, cool atmosphere, and large windows for those elusive nice weather days. The negatives? It's a narrow space, and on a busy night, it can feel a bit claustrophobic. Large groups beware, you might have trouble carving out a space for everyone in the crowd and later in the night, conversations across a two foot chasm become impossible. That said, this is a fantastic addition to the OTR bar scene, and I'll definitely keep coming back! read more

Not to be confused with Rhinegeist! Rhinehaus is MUCH smaller AND climate controlled! We walked in and it was like the party started as soon as we got there. We ordered 10 shots and they came with hot sauce in them....and even though the place was packed we got our drinks pronto! Bartender was very cool and attentive. The other folks were all about having a good time and the vibe here was really fun. The music was on point. We had a mini dance party and everyone seemed to join in. Great vibes at this place. Definitely want to hit this place up with a group again. It's a hole in the wall and people were spilling out of the place. I'm sure we had to be violating a fire code or two. I had my money out waiting for the bartender. He walks over to me and states rather rudely "just a little tip, don't wave your money around, it's not going to get you served any faster" (I didn't feel like I was waving it around but I guess if I was that wasn't my intention). He takes the money and gives me my change. I was so appalled I said "wow, you won't be getting a tip back from me" he states "I don't have to serve you" and continues to go do other things around the bar and ignores me. I stated that I wanted my money back if he wasn't going to give me my beer. He went into the til grabbed my $10 and threw it down. I asked to speak to the manager in which he said "I AM the manager". I completely understand the right to refuse service to anyone but this was completely out of line. I'm sure the owner will stand with the 'manager', which is fine, but I wanted to get my story out there. read more

I have tried to come to Rhinehaus a couple of times but have never been able to because it's always packed to the point of people overflowing on the sidewalk and out of the window. But I finally made it here on Saturday during the day and it's pretty nice. I felt like the beers were well priced and service was quick. The bar is actually much bigger than I thought, there's a cool back room area with interesting seating which I really liked. I don't know when or if I'll be able to go back, but I was pleasantly surprised by Rhinhaus. read more
