I love places like this, little hidden gems with excellent beer choices, and the Lucky Turtle was no exception. If we hadn't been led there by semi-regulars, we would have never known it was there. Pretty cool vibe inside and a small outdoor area, something for everyone. The staff was very friendly as well. Minus one star, as we visited during the COVID pandemic and not one person on the staff had a mask on. When we asked if the bartender could please wear one as she waited on us, she told us she didn't have to. That's not what the regualtions say, and is pretty irresponsible (especially when they are using real glasses to serve in). We'll visit again, but probably not until after the pandemic, too risky. read more

I hate using the phrase "hidden gem" because it's such a cliché, but it's the only way to describe the Lucky Turtle! This speakeasy is hidden behind a liquor store and an Arby's in Finneytown, and it is one of the chillest beer and bourbon bars in Cincinnati. They have an amazing draft list (23 beers on tap, many of them local and seasonal!), 60+ bourbons, and many more beers in bottles/cans. I was there on 4/20 (lol) and they had the Wanna Get Rye red IPA with CBD from 50 West, plus cool drink specials like the Stone + NOFX Punk in Drublic can for $3. If you're looking for rare/unique beers and friendly, knowledgeable bartenders, this is your place. The inside is no frills. They have a few games, darts, and a small outdoor space with corn hole. As far as I know, From February 11 on, This bar is closed permanently. A friend worked there, and when I stopped in, the door was locked. Nobody was in there, and the music was off. I was informed that they shut it down. Figures though. A joint from across the street that had to move for chik filet, moved into the old head shop right next to the liquor store. Not sure how the township allowed 3 liquor licenses within 50 yards of each other, but, they did. No sense in the three bars fighting for parking spaces. Now, two bars are fighting for parking spaces. And parking can get pretty tight up in them bitches. If you go, be prepared to park over in the mexican restaurants area, and walking over. There are two bars now. One in the old head shop. And one behind the old ATT store. read more

All the beers are numbered so if you've had one to many all you have to do is remember your favorite number. The LT is a laid back and friendly place. It's hard to believe a place like this exists so close to where I grew up. Then again, that is a true testament to the beer culture in Cincinnati. I recently went to Lucky Turtle for the first time, where I tried a Partner Ships #1 by Heavy Seas (a Red IPA). The beer itself was just okay, but I was happy to see such an expansive selection. The space itself was nothing to write home about, but the beer list was impressive enough. If there are a handful of beers to choose from that would be a Distinct Check-in on Untappd, I'm a happy patron. In the neighborhood looking for a place to have a drink. I'd say for this part of town, this is probably as good as it gets! A solid draft list to include local and national craft beers, but I also saw them serving bottles of BudLight. I appreciate a printed drink menu to flip through with all the information I needed-type of beer, IBU, ABV, brewery, etc. Prices were as expected and it looked like others had brought in food from outside. On our visit, we walked in to Last Call Trivia. It was bigger than it looked from the outside with a decent amount of seating. They appear to have a variety of specials each night of the week and events featuring different beers/breweries/etc. This is located behind the liquor store and not visible from the street. When we arrived, there was quite a crew of people standing right out in front of the door smoking. Not being from the area and not quite knowing what we were walking into, I wasn't sure quite what to think of this. Maybe I'm spoiled, but don't appreciate having to walk through a cloud in order to enter. Maybe it's worth creating a 'smoker's patio' on the side of the building? I appreciate knowing this place is here and, if I'm in the neighborhood, would likely return and/or suggest to a friend. read more

One of the very best local craft brewery and Bourbon Bars in the tri-state. Excellent venue with games, art, outdoor patio, great selection, and excellent staff. Passionate owner who genuinely loves what he does. Many things stand out about the cozy location but one that really separates them are there ability to blend different beers and bourbons to great unique cocktails and beers that really go together well. They are like mad scientists but always deliver delicious libations to my discerning palette. I have always enjoyed their events too, music, trivia, and live performances are really fun. Much of the beer on tap I wouldn't be able to find at other local bars which tend to have the same beers on all of the time. Clean and aesthetically very pleasing! My only complaint was the bartender. Apparently, one loses hipster cool points if you are overly friendly or helpful. I knew they didn't serve food, so I asked who delivered here. He told me to check the board out front. Asked for the zip, so I could order my own, didn't know it. Why bother to ask if he knew the address? His pressing concern appeared to be charging his phone, then checking/texting. Positive hipster points, negative for tending bar. They have a jazz band that plays every weds i really liked that. The owner was super friendly and fun to chat with. Their prices are good and have a ton of draft beers and always a sweet beer option for the ladies. I had a raspberry beer that was so yummy tasted like a wine cooler. They also have tons of bourbon options but the owner came up with his own mixed drinks for people who don't want beer or bourbon. He even has a mixed drink he puts jelly/jam in I'm going to try that next time. Very creative. It's a cute small bar but it does have a patio and cornhole.
