I'm so glad my friends recommended this place. The back patio is the spot to be! The restaurant opens their doors to the bar so you can walk right into the indoor portion but with the patio ambiance, you wouldn't want to sit inside! I loved the plants and the woodwork of the building, but the patio was fenced in so we didn't get too many bugs and no cicadas! The high and low top tables can fit up to six people but they didn't mind when we moved chairs. I'll have to return to Pearl's again to try their food selection! read more

I always enjoy Pearls for its neighborhood feel! They always offer a variety of seasonal drink specials so I'm always trying something new and I love their spin on classic drinks like G+T and Moscow mules. This most recent visit I enjoyed an espresso martini and my husband got his made with cream, which was a nice twist on this drink. Would definitely recommend their espresso martini made with cream as we haven't found too many places that do that. read more

The service was kind and prompt, offering us a variety of choices. This isn't a bar I'd go to often, kind of having a fraternity vibe and not very mature, though that may not be everyday. I really enjoyed my visit to Pearls a few weeks ago! I had been to the area a couple times but never knew this cute little place was tucked behind some of the business! I came on a Saturday and it wasn't crowded at 8 pm, but by 9 pm it was close to standing room only! They have a gorgeous patio area outside ( but no one went out there because it was a little chilly), and appeared to have an upstairs area (but I didn't see it because it was a private event). My friend had been trying to get me to try out Pearls for quite some time and we finally made it there for Happy Hour on a recent Friday. I was very pleasantly surprised as I had a set idea in my head of what this place was, and it was completely the opposite. I entered and was instantly greeted by both friendly bartenders. I picked a drink off their fall cocktail menu, the Pomegranate ginger paloma. Because it was happy hour, all drinks were a $1 off. It had nice flavor, not too sweet, and the grapefruit gave it a bitter kick. We sat at a table adjacent to the bar, as it was chilly outside, but I later wished we had grabbed a spot on their patio oasis as they have a fireplace out there, as well as TVs. The place has a great casual vibe and had people of all ages and walks of life hanging out there. I figured it to be a college type bar for some reason. Parking can be a little crazy as they share a lot with several other businesses. There is on street parking available as well. I was surprised to see appetizer type food coming out to several of the tables, but never saw a menu anywhere to peruse. Thats ok we were headed to dinner after anyways. read more

Pearl's has held onto a couple great memories of mine. So much that I came here for celebratory drinks after my own wedding reception, new hubs in tow. Pearl's is an old Home in Columbia Tusculum that was straightened (literally) and redesigned as a bar. They have a nice patio and second floor for private events. Sadly, they do not open the second floor for regular business hours. It is private event only. I feel like they're missing out on a lot by keeping it closed. The second floor is very nice with open beams and a quaint patio! I was recently at a private event work party which provides you with one bartender. Sadly, ours wasn't very personable. I wish he was a lot friendlier and more familiar with drinks. He didn't know what a Rum Runner was, so I told him and it ended up poorly made. They also do not offer the regular menu upstairs. I scoured the internet for their winter cocktail list earlier in the day but they do not make them upstairs during events. During random drop in visits, it's a nice bar to hang out and just get a beer or two. I don't think the bartenders are the best in Cincy but this is still a very cool, laidback bar. read more

Oh Pearl's. I want to love you, but I just can't give you anything more than 3 stars right now. The Positives: - Very friendly bartenders - GORGEOUS PATIO - Fireplace, TV's outside - Upstairs for private events etc. - Decent parking set up - Supppper drink cheap prices - Calm, rustic decor The Negatives (and there are some big ones) - Love the beautiful open air concept but very concerned about the HUGE thick ledge that the sliding doors run through. As soon as we arrived (sober) my boyfriend caught his shoe on the ledge and nearly fell down the stairs. Very scary. As I sat on the patio I watched upwards of 10+ people catch their feet on the ledge and every time I gasped and grabbed my chest. This is extremely dangerous, not to mention that there are steps right below and also people drinking (some more heavily than others). This is an accident waiting to happen. - The cocktails. Oh my. The cocktails. Love the idea of the "slim margarita" unfortunately they were out of the agave nectar so I went with the Eastsider and it was one of the worst cocktails I have ever had. After tasting it, I knew exactly what had happened. This should be a great drink in theory but the bartenders either 1) have no idea what they are doing, and to no fault of their own or 2) don't care enough to take the time to properly prepare the cocktail = either way, quality control is an issue. The balance of the drink was way off and it tasted like there was a half a cup of simple syrup in this drink with no acid whatsoever to balance it out. Thinking okay, maybe that one was a fluke, I ordered the Moscow Mule. Now I know this drink is simple: vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice, garnished with a slice or wedge of lime. But even the simplest drinks need SOME finesse. I watched the bartender make this and this was the process: shot of vodka, and topped with 3/4 ginger beer (again WAY sweet) no lime juice. Not even stirred or mixed, and a tiny lime added. This was the saddest excuse for a cocktail I had ever seen and I expected a little more from Pearl's. To me this experience seemed like I was back in college getting served vodka soda's. When you are in crummy sticky bar that can fly. When you are a beautiful bar and your cocktail menu is laid out the way Pearl's is you set a certain expectation, and unfortunately Pearl's did not deliver. Pearl's I want you to be great, but I think you need a little more training. My advice sit down with your bartenders and have a chat about respecting the ingredients and how to make some standard cocktails. I know there are a million excuses, it's busy, you're out of some of the ingredients etc. and I am not saying this to be mean or stuck up but to give you honest feedback because I think that is what you deserve as a hard working local business owner. If you want to be known as the place that just slings drinks and has a nice patio - that's okay too, but I don't think you do. For now, 3 stars and anxiously awaiting another visit once the kinks are worked out. read more

The New Riff cocktails were not highlighted as much as they could be. Very low key. The staff really didn't push for us to buy more drinks. Our waitress had a pretty flat affect. Pearl's is a great spot for a drink after work. Centrally located, good for Eastsiders and the more central crowd. Nice big parking lot is a nice relief from the Mt. Lookout bars where parking can be a real pain. Good beer variety, nice bourbon selection. I can't speak to the other comments about the cocktails because I haven't had any. In nice weather, the patio is fantastic. This bar has great spots for gathering with a coworkers or friends. Keep this place on your short list of spots to hit when you feel like you've been going to the same on neighborhood bars. The snacks are just ok. The pretzels are decent. The hummus was fine, but the pita slices should be toasted or something, as they are a bit bland and doughy. read more

I work at one of the offices nearby so sometimes we come by here after work and I really enjoy it! Both the interior and exterior are very nicely decorated and have a very rustic vibe. Their wine menu has all of the notes so it makes it a lot easier to select which one fits your taste. They have a great selection and it is a pretty popular bar for the people who work around the area for good reason. I currently live a bit out of the way from it and I wouldn't necessarily drive all the way there just for the drinks, but if I am in the area or if I am going to a happy hour at work then I most certainly come and enjoy it! Beware during the warmer months - they have a lot of bees in the outside area and one of them stung my coworkers. There is only so much the bar can do about that, but I would recommend being indoors to avoid that especially if you're allergic. read more

Pearl's has a really cool rustic exterior, that leads into a cozy bar. They have plenty of room for larger groups, and you still have the experience of a small neighborhood bar. They have plenty of parking to choose from. Pearl's has a friendly staff and great cocktails. I highly recommend stopping in, even if it just for a quick drink. Pearl's is one of my favorite spots for happy hour. The building is an old house, that is shabby chic white on the outside, and completely new and re done on the inside, which creates a lot of charm and character. While it's not a particularly large bar, they have an upstairs that is available for renting out, as well as a large patio with TVs and a brick fireplace. I have been outside on the patio with heaters and tents as well. They tend to have creative drink specials, I recently had a blueberry mint mule, which was great and had fresh blueberries in it. October 3, 2022 was the first time my fiancée and I visited Pearl's. We were looking for a place to sit outside next to a fire pit or fireplace and reviews had said this place had that. The building is small, but that's not a complaint, I love that! The old wooden floors, the decor, and the candlelit room was better than I had expected. As we approached the door to enter, a man on the porch stood up and asked if we were there to help his night get better. Turns out, there were only 5 other people in there (it was a Monday night) so he be was referring to us adding to the number. LOL!! Anyway, he was super helpful, laid back, and made my favorite drink better than anyone has so far! I hate that I didn't catch his name. The absolute ONLY reasons this bar did not get 5 stars from me is because - 1. The fireplace was not lit outside and that was honestly one of the main reasons we went. Yes, there were only 6-8 people in there and no one out back, but I've been to places where they keep them lit in case anyone wants to go out. Reason 2. The few "bar food" items they have are only available up to 9pm. From past experiences, that time should go up until about an hour before last call. Some people stay longer if they have something to snack on while hanging out and drinking. Besides those two small things, I love this place and we will DEFINITELY be returning! read more

Pearls is a great local pub. Great space in and out so you can either be part of the crowd or off on your own. Drinks are made well and fairly priced. The service at times can be slow but the 2 areas they have set up to order drinks actually helps as opposed to trying to inch your way in to a bar spot. We hosted a private party using the space upstairs at Pearl's. Working with the manager to reserve the space was really easy, and we were able to self-cater because the kitchen there is fairly limited. Our bartender, Samantha, was fantastic all evening and really went the extra mile for our guests. Sadly, a crazy thunderstorm meant that we couldn't use the balcony as much as we would have liked, but the space upstairs is comfortable for a group of about 30. One consideration if you're thinking about using this space is that a fairly sizable opening in the floor does lead to quite a bit of noise coming from the first floor bar area. We knew about this (the manager kindly warned us specifically about it), and for our purposes, it wasn't a problem, but it's worth knowing. As others have noted, parking is convenient and all of the staff is very friendly. All in all, Pearl's is a great addition to the neighborhood as a watering hole and especially as an option for private/semi-private room rental. read more

I would say 4 stars for the space itself- beautifully renovated with a lot of the original features of this old house- open rafters, hardwood, storage hutch, chimney/fireplace. You can rent out the upstairs for private parties, which has a nice bar and a walk out porch. The back patio is really nice, with some flat screen tvs to catch a game. All the servers are very nice. Drink prices are pretty reasonable- 5-8 for most, and everything seemed decent. There are 4 types of small bites you can get: proscuitto and mozzarella stuffed pepper and baguette, cashews (cocoa & salt or chipotle lime), jerky (turkey, beef, pork), and pretzels and beer cheese. Eh. The stuffed peppers were tasty and you really can't mess up pretzels and beer cheese (I think), but the rest were just okay. The lime cashews were too sour. Would love it if they beefed up the food options, but I know they are just starting out. Generally, this seems to be a yuppie hot-spot, so take that for what you will! read more

A bit disappointed with Pearls... Seems like I'm at a Disneyworld replica of a old time bar. Maybe it's the new finish fumes coming off the bar that has a post formed edge over particle board instead of a solid wood edge. The interior finishes just don't jive with the peeling paint exterior. Really wish they would have put in an authentic turn of the century back bar , that would of added some character that Pearls try's to achieve but misses the mark. That said my Stella draft was only slightly cooler than room temp. 8 beers on tap with 3 locals- blank slate, rhineghest, mad tree. I'm excited to have another bar in my neighborhood! I live just up the street so I'm hoping that this can be a new hangout, since I don't really like any of the bars in my area :) The owners did a great job of renovating the space, and I really like that they left the outside looking sort of decrepit. Don't be fooled- the inside is beautiful, and they have big doors/windows off of the main bar room that open onto a really nice patio with a fireplace. I like the vibe here a lot, I feel like it could be a kind of nicer bar on the weekends and more casual hangout during the week. There is also a very small additional area upstairs with another small bar that was not open the Tuesday night that we were there. Drinks wise, they are standard. They have a few taps with a mix between standards like Bud and Stella and local like Rhinegeist. I think they probably have like a house set of wines because I asked if they had rose and they didn't. They did have a pretty good selection of bourbon (both Bulleit regular and Rye as well as couple other brands). Pricewise, it's midline. $10 for two draft beers (Rhinegeist and a Stella). I had heard that they serve food, but didn't see any evidence of that (menu, food coming out of a kitchen) while I was there, so I'm not sure what the deal is there. I love it for the atmosphere. The patio is fantastic, the indoor area is very loungey and swanky, and the bathrooms are nice. The only unappealing part is the big parking lot that sits behind it. There was a mix of party bros and neighborhood locals. I would have enjoyed sitting outside, but it was very crowded everywhere. They also have nice flatscreens and a fireplace outside. The friends (yeah I've got em) and I hit this place up for a casual Thursday night after driving past it so many times and hearing such good things about it. This place reminds me of the bars on East 5th in Austin. Old house turned into bar with large outside seating area. The place itself is gorgeous. Great look inside and out. Not sure what happened to the outdoor TVs, maybe some rascals in Columbia Tusculum stole them, who knows. The patio is the obvious selling point with LOTS of outdoor seating and a open air bar. The negatives: drinks. Half our group ordered cocktails and not a single one said theirs was good. Not even like OK to drink. Not a single person finished said cocktails. How can you be a bar and have drinks that are THAT bad. Now to complete the compliment sandwich. They did allow us to order some outside food and bring it in. I get that the selection can't get too crazy extensive, but can there be a least more options that aren't so hoppy?! Food is good.
