Okay, I am old, and I have been to many bars in my lifetime, but I do not know if I have ever met a more charismatic and entertaining bartender as Julie-ever. It was a slow night and my friend, and I were referred by Mt. Adams Bar & Grill to head up to Crowley's. Traditional Irish Pub, not mention oldest in Mt Adams, this place is historical landmark, the views are amazing and beer (plus conversations with the locals) are always flowing!!!!! Least pretentious bar in Mt. Adams? I was delighted to find this Irish pub hanging out in the far corner of Mt. Adams. This is my kind of place, and I learned that this is the oldest continuously owned Irish bar in the city! Smithwick's, Guinness, and Killian's on tap, exactly as you'd expect. This place was sleepy on a Tuesday night. Prices were Mt. Adams typical ($4.50 for a brewski) and as always parking is an issue, which is a big part of the reason why I'm only up this way once in a leap year. However, if I'm back in Mt. Adams soon, Crowley's is definitely on the list. read more

A dive bar in Mt Adams!??? Yes... This great place serves up some great drinks and snacks (didn't see the jambalaya, but it was getting towards the end of Tom's shift). It was my first time inside and within a few minutes, I felt like a regular. The people there were chill, talkative, and full of joking banter that makes this a bar on my short list next time I am in the area. There was only a handful of people inside, but Tom was quick to point out that in a few hours, it would be full. The only knock I have is that the bathroom is a little scary. Not scary in a cleanliness way, just kinda old school "Man's bathroom" way. Know what I mean? There was soap and stuff, so it's all good. If I'm in the neighborhood, I'll have to squeeze in during St. Patrick's Day, ha ha. I am sure this place gets packed. read more

Um, Crowley's is awesome - Maybe it's the Irish Catholic in me, but I felt right at home. The environment is that of a pretty standard bar, posters on the wall and plenty a few televisions on the wall. There was one bartender working, who was friendly - It seemed like he knew everyone who was in the bar, and made sure no one felt like a stranger. I'm not sure if they serve food or not - I don't think so? However, they had a good alcohol selection! I'll definitely be back during my next visit to Cinci. read more

My new favorite dive bar! And the day I visited, it reached unicorn status by hitting the dive bar trifecta: showing a Reds game, being able to visit on my own without being harassed by annoying dudes or feeling an undercurrent of hostility for crashing an old man space, and... get ready... PURSE HOOKS! Seriously, usually you get 2 out of 3, but not all 3 at once. In addition, the beers were cheap (with a couple decent ones on tap -- but I avoided the green beer tap), the baskets full of wonderfully over-salted pretzels, and at least on a Sunday afternoon it was pretty mellow. Let me preface I am not a huge fan of Mt. Adams, i fact I usually try to avoid it until I found out about this place. Like the others are saying this is probably the least pretentious bar in Mt. Adams. I have to hand it to the staff on this one. Although it might feel like the others, the service is well above. Every time I have been here no matter what day or time it has been the same two guys behind the bar. One night when it was slow my friends and I asked a little about the history of this place and he gladly filled us in on this great little establishment. They were both young souls. They were cracking us up because they said "even though we are old we can still rap every word of this snoop dogg song!" Leading into my next point, they have a GREAT jukebox with just about everything you could ever want to hear. I didn't have any cash and he opened up his drawer and gave me 5 bucks and said, "Go Wild." My friends and I played the craziest off the beaten path songs we could find and sure enough they knew every word! How funny! I have a lot of great memories from this place and I hope it's around for a long long time. read more

If you dream of finding a perfect dive bar in a strange new city, you will dream of Crowley's. Crowley's is off the main Mt. Adams drag, its lights are dim, and its price is so, so right. The special at the time was $2.50 a pop for Yuengling bottles. There seem to be an army of regulars, and one of them will certainly be up for talking to you for hours. The man tending bar (Tom) was very friendly, and as eager to dispense dirty jokes as he was salty pretzels -- no pun intended. If you're looking for some place to get faded for cheap with some cool old people, head on down. This place is great. read more

A great chill bar. Definitely a place I would go with a group of friends for good conversation and a couple of drinks. We came to the bar at about 7pm on a Friday night. Most patrons were middle aged or older along with both bartenders. TVs were tuned to a UC football game, which most people were watching. This is a bar where you can cheer to a game, but still hear yourself think. This is not a bar where you would go to order a fancy drink- it a beer and rum and coke kind of place. Drink prices are on the low end for Mt. Adams. There is no menu, but there is a display of chips you can buy if you have the munchies. Bartenders were very nice and reminded me of my grandpa- loveable, gruff teddy bears. The bar definitely has an antique feel about it. Comfy- like your grandpa's house. They even allowed a group of UC fans to take over a coupe tables for beer pong. Parking is definitely an issue- as it is with all Mt. Adams bars. Get up the hill early and walk a couple blocks to get there. Probably wouldn't get here past 11pm, when all the hip 20-somethings decide they want to slum it before heading over to the Pavilion, but definitely would stop in for a drink or two if I was in the area. read more

Crowley's is a local dive (if such places exist in Mt. Adams) that is (fortunately) devoid of the pretense exalted by most of its neighbors. With decent Happy Hour prices and a comfortable atmosphere, this place welcomes its regulars like family. And even if you're a newbie, there's still a place for you at the bar. If you're a fan of Budweiser beers, Crowley's runs a Happy Hour special until 7 pm on Bud and Bud Light. Sixteen ounce beers are just $2, pitchers are $6, and bottles are $1.50. Well drinks are only $2.50, which sounds tempting, but the well options are pretty bottom of the barrel. read more

Looking for possibly a older crowd or just not into the wall to wall sea of people seen at most Mt. Adams bars, here is your place. This little bar is nestled in front of Pavilion and next to Tap 'n Go. You have probably seen it but have no idea what it is, the place looks like a old time tavern on the outside and well it's about right and fitting because the inside has that feel too. The prices are verrrrrrry reasonable for Mt. Adams and you even have a place to sit if you want, as a added bonus no screaming required to communicate. WARNING!!!!! Stepping into this establishment will be so enjoyable that you will lose track of all time. Despite the numerous TVs and an accurate clock, you could easily spend several hours, possibly days, inside without even batting an eye. A buddy and I stopped in for the daily happy hour (12-7) and enjoyed some pitchers of Crowley's Ale, the house ale which is a quality Irish Red. According to Karina's review the prices haven't changed since 2008, heck who knows when the last time they were changed! Just another reason that you could pull a Rip Van Winkle in this place. But aside from the delicious home brew and cheap prices, the best part of Crowley's is the welcoming environment and the friendly patrons who frequent it. Tom is the main bartender, he usually wears the rainbow suspenders, and he will take care of you as if you had been coming in for 20 years. Every Saturday he makes a pot of jambalaya, not because he has to, but because its cold outside and he thinks its a cool thing to do. The price? Absolutely free! Heck there is even some bread and hot sauce to boot. There is one fail safe to the Crowley's Rip Van Winkle syndrome, they don't serve food, however, there are all the saltiest pretzels that your stomach and heart can handle. Throughout the day many people will come in hoping that they do serve food, but Tom will gladly direct them to somewhere else on the hill that does, and even invites you back to have a drink. The place does get kind of wild at night, like most of Mt Adams, but the times I have been there in the evening it was fairly tame. This by far is the best, true local pub in the city. Stop by before 7pm any day of the week, pull up a chair, and say hi to Tom, just make sure you have an exit strategy. Trust me, you won't regret it. read more

If you're in Cincinnati and looking for a beer, you need to head up the hill to Crowley's. The bartenders will take care of you and the locals will make you laugh. I love Crowely's! I lived in Mt Adams for several years and am also half Irish so have always loved the place. Plus, I'm a sucker for a dive bar and an Irish bar. You know, jukebox, neighborhood type of place. Today I had a had a terrible experience though. I went in for a quick beer while taking a ride on the Ducati and ran into a couple of locals which is always nice. If you know Crowley's, you know the locals I'm talking about. I tried to order a quick bud light draft which which took the young lady about 4 times to understand what I was trying to even order. It was 4 pm so it was happy hour and asked for my change several times because I basically just wanted to chug my beer and hop back on my bike cuz it was nice out. There were only 2 other people in there so I'm not sure why sure why she was annoyed at me but took forever to give me my change (about twenty minutes). Then when she did finally cash me out, after me asking her several times, she charged me full price (around five bucks which isn't that bad) but there's a big sign hanging above the bar I pointed out saying happy hour prices for domestic beers that are less then 3 bucks til 7 pm. Pretty sure she was on drugs cuz she realized the sign at the time and realized what time it was (and I'm pretty sure she was able to read) but couldn't figure out that it was still happy hour or how to work the cash register. Wanted to get back on my Ducati cuz it was nice out but was annoyed that the bartender wasn't smart enough to figure out that you prob just need to push a button to indicate it's happy hour prices. Anyway, I ask for my tab 4 times before she cashes me out (even though the place is empty and she just ignores me) cuz I wanna go ride and still of course charges me reg prices instead of the happy hour prices that are clearly advertised all over the bar. I don't care about a couple of bucks and basically want to go ride and don't want to waste time arguing with this academically challenged bartender so just give her a five and head out to hop on my bike and she literally throws the the change at me on the way out the door indicating I've insulted her by not tipping when when she took over twenty minutes to cash me out when 3 people were there and she wasn't able to read or understand happy hour prices and overcharged me by 2 bucks which I clearly explained to her, but still threw the change at me me as I walked out the door cuz I wanted to go ride after she clearly charged me too much for a simple domestic beer. This isn't rocket science but how can you keep customers like this? I love the Crowley's. I love Irish Bars. I love the bartenders there typically (Steve Beverage and Tommy rock) but this girl is a mess! Come on guys! We've got to be able to be able to find better people than this???? read more

My brother was in town and we had some time to kill one afternoon in Mt Adams. No lie...a church lady pointed us to Crowley's. She told me that Catholics know how to drink and that after Holy week services people will head to Crowley's. They had a good selection of Irish beers (including Guiness, Harp and even Smithwicks). The drinks were reasonably priced, for Mt Adams anyway. Upon first walking in, I had the sensation that this actually was an Irish pub. Was it the green walls, the beer, or the music? It was the vibe. People were friendly and relaxed. People said hello as I walked in. Even the bartender seemed especially attentive. I went to Ireland about 8 years ago, and what I remember the most was how friendly people were. Pubs are a meeting place and a hub, not just a place to get sloppy (like so many bars in Mt Adams are). Other Irish pubs in Cincinnati just seem like regular bars to me. That isn't a bad thing, but it doesn't have the charm and nostalgia of Crowley's. read more
