Parks and Rec is the 3rd Mad Tree location we've been to and even though we like the others a lot, this was our favorite. My husband was saying how much better it will be when we come back in the summer with the huge patio and all the garage doors open. I agreed, but I also think part of the reason we loved it so much was that even though it was a cold, gray February day, inside Parks and Rec had so much greenery and lots of windows so it felt summery inside! Our server was super friendly and went over the menu with us, telling us which items were most popular and which were his favorites. I got the peanut butter porter which was really good and hubby liked his s'mores stout as well. We split one of their huge pretzels which came with whole grain mustard and beer cheese...delish!! Then I got a 1/2 apple and pecan salad, which was more pecans, apples and dried cranberries than salad (and I mean that in the best way!) My husband let me try one of his chicken wings which had a nice spice to it. I finally made it out to MadTree's newest venture, MadTree Parks & Rec, out in Summit Park of Blue Ash. This location is somewhat similar to the Oakley taproom, a big open space with a large bar in the middle, but also different in several ways. First of all, this is more of a restaurant, with table service, and a very nice expanded menu. Second, while the taproom is somewhat kid-friendly, the newest spot is super family-friendly with a kids' menu along with indoor and outdoor play spaces. Brunch is served all day, every day. And while I typically am not a brunch guy, I had to try the goetta sandwich topped with candied bacon, American cheese, pickled jalapenos, lettuce, and ranch dressing. This comes served with hash browns for $16. This was a great sandwich, with a perfectly cooked, thick slice of goetta, a unique set of toppings, and it should definitely not be skipped. The hashbrowns are also awesome, shaped into a ball and filled with a tasty potato and cheese mixture. I wish the food at the Oakley taproom was more like this, since this location is very close to my home. read more

We went to Madtree Parks & Rec. on Friday I was with my sister-in-law. We decided to go there because her sister my other sister in law had been there the day before or a working lunch. We started out with the mammoth pretzel, which was very good and then I ordered the pepperoni peak pizza which comes in size of 12 inch and 18 inch I decided to get the 18 inch so I had some to take home. Cindy she got the wings and we both had two beverages. I had two beers and Cindy had two glasses of wine. It is a new place to go. The atmosphere is nice and very relaxing. We had a great service . This place was great! Make sure to turn into the park as that is where the best parking lot is for the place. Google maps had me turning into the employee lot for some reason. Chris, Jacob, and Caroline helped us. They were so awesome and so extremely friendly! Totally was worth the day just getting served by them. We sat outside in the good weather and there was plenty of seating for lunch. Plenty of seating inside as well. I have the wedge salad which was amazing! Seriously top-notch! My friend had a burger and fries but there was some spicy mayonnaise on his burger and he could need it because of his cancer treatments and the diet he has to follow. I had a great experience my first time here. It was super crowded due to the weekend but they had a ton of servers and bar staff so we still had excellent fast service. The atmosphere itself is the best aspect of MadTree. They have cool tree decorations in the ceiling and walls with lots of outdoor space. They also have a large activity space inside and out for kids. Its very family friendly. The food was overall pretty good. The fried pickles were the crunchiest, one of the best I've ever had. My friends rented a space inside for a birthday gathering and it was perfect - we had enough space for the 20+ people and great service from a bartender that would check in on us and place orders on a tablet. What a beautiful addition to Summit Park! The space is huge, bright, and inviting, with tons of indoor and outdoor seating. We watched the Bengals game from the bar, and it was a great atmosphere. We ordered several food items -- wings, a soft pretzel, and a veggie pizza without cheese -- and everyone was happy with what they got. There are limited vegetarian and vegan options, and the items I tried to order (fried pickles and the hummus & pita plate) were out of stock. I went back for Saturday brunch, and it was a little underwhelming. The hostess told us to seat ourselves and order via QR code, paying on our phones. Convenient for some, but it makes it hard to ask questions or get recommendations. The brunch menu showed exactly 7 items -- no sides, no drinks -- and the only vegetarian/vegan option was avocado toast. I tried asking about the hash brown balls and got conflicting answers about whether they contained cream cheese. When I asked for a side of fruit, I was told they just sprinkle a few blueberries on the waffle and fruit wasn't available separately. This location is super family friendly, from the camping play space inside to the nature scape surrounded by tables and swings, to the life-sized foosball table and Gaga pit, it has hours of entertainment built in. I love how much they embraced the outdoors with their welcoming seating and cozy fire pits. QR codes are available for easy mobile ordering outdoors, unfortunately you have to belly up to the bar to order any drinks. Caprese Canyon gluten free pizza is delicious! We visited opening weekend and snagged the last two seats at the bar. Parks & Rec is going to be popping for a while, especially this summer when Summit Park is in full swing. Congrats to Madtree! Happy Amber is one of my favorite Madtree beers but it was great to enjoy a flight. The cocktail menu is fun but it's hard not to get a beer! Parks & Rec is killing the inclusivity aspect of a nice time out with the family. The play space out front is going to be so fun this summer, I'm impressed! Interesting concept. I guess this location is newly opened. When we arrived, we were greeted and she explained the process. It is open seating and tables are full service. We found a table quickly and were greeted with menus quickly. You open a tab to start. The location is very open with a game room, bar and event space. Lots of kids playing in the game room. Looked like there were board games you could take to the tables. Lots of young families and it was very busy for a Sunday in between lunch and dinner. I ordered the wedge salad and wings in garlic Parmesan. My husband ordered the cowboy breakfast. The wedge salad was a big chunk of iceberg with a little drizzle of ranch. With that big of a wedge, it needed a lot more dressing The wings looked great but the flavor was off. Like the garlic was bitter. You can tell they thought out the presentation with 4 drums and 4 flappers. Maybe a different sauce would help. My husband's cowboy breakfast was a disappointment. He ordered his steak medium and it was well done. Eggs were ordered scrambled softly but came out like a folded, flat pile. The hash brown balls were good with a little cheese and a hint of herbs. Service was on and off. I think we had 3-4 people "wait" on us. One got our drink order, one got our food order, one delivered food and another came by a couple times. Refills on our drinks were hard to get. Eventually, my husband went to the bar and got them. About 10 minutes later, one of the wait staff (I think our actual server) remembered and brought them. Love the play areas for kids (a whole camper, play firepit plush area), and cornhole giant connect 4 in an open auditorium area. Looks like they are set up to do private events as well, which would be fun. The fried food is great--brunch menu of goetta burger, frittata was yummy, and I love the hash brown balls. I have such mixed feelings about this experience. First, I just want to love this place. I love the idea that they have a space that's welcoming for kids and families, and I know that isn't easy. The indoor play area is cute and fun even with a few things broken. I like a lot of their beers which is also great. They also have a kids menu, though limited, which is helpful to have. We ordered two grilled cheese meals for our kids yesterday. Both of them were pretty overcooked/hard and one of them was completely black on the bottom. With an adult mouth, I could barely bite it so I'm not sure why they thought that was an acceptable meal to give to a little kid who couldn't even eat it. I might understand the need for it to be a little different if this was on the adult menu, but if it's specifically for kids it should be edible for kids. My kids were very happy with the fries and cookies that go with it, so all was not lost. The other food we got was ok, but nothing special. Their other locations definitely have better food so we will keep that in mind when returning. Servers are great and have a lot of patience for all of these kids running around with only some parents watching them. Kudos to that team for keeping their cool! read more

It took 90 minutes to get a small cheese pizza, Taco Nachos and a Bavarian pretzel. The pretzel and nachos were ice cold, and the pizza was lukewarm and the cheese indicated it had clearly been sitting for awhile. I give restaurants a bit of a pass on extraordinarily busy days and this was Memorial Day, but the kitchen was seemingly doing their job while the front of house staff wasn't getting food to tables quickly enough. The vibes were good & it's a fun place. Staff was attentive. I can count the number of times I've sent a dish back on one hand, but I did send back the avocado toast. There was hardly any avocado on it & it looked fairly unappetizing (the pictures are pretty self explanatory). While discussing the options for 'fixing' the toast, I learned they don't have avocados in the kitchen, so I presume this is a pre-mixed avocado spread. I would recommend against that dish specifically. The staff was phenomenal and replaced it with another item - goetta sandwich which was delicious. And the rest of my party liked their food. Also our group got there early so it was very easy to get a table. Looked like as it got more crowded it was a little more work to find a table, as it's a seat-yourself place. Recently went to the newest location of MadTree in Summit Park, Blue Ash because my friend wanted to try it. We walked in and there was nobody to welcome or direct us. After waiting a bit, I went to the bar and asked about seating. They said that we could sit wherever we wanted. It would've been nice to have a simple sign that said "Seat Yourself". After finding a table, we waited quite some time to see if anybody was coming to take our order. I tried to flag some of the staff who were in the general vicinity but was unsuccessful. I ended up walking over to the the server who was closest to us. She said it wasn't her table and that somebody would come. Not very promising. We did eventually get waited on. The Beet and Quinoa Salad with Chicken was very good, but the wait was very inconvenient. It was a nice day so lots of people were sitting outside. read more

I watched a man ask for a spray bottle and towel to clean his own table off while the staff watched and even made a comment about the guy cleaning the table as they shrugged their shoulders.
