I appreciated the young ladies cutting up the cake and help serve that as well. As an Event Planner myself, I believe it was Christie and Lulu that handled my event and they were simply amazing. They were an event planner's dream. They checked in with me, they made sure everything was as it should be. They were kind and very cordial. I can't sing their praises enough. I hadn't been to this wonderful restaurant in a few years, so I decided that it was time. Connor took excellent care of us, visiting our table with exactly the right frequency. I started with the day's cream of mushroom soup with goat cheese. The soup was excellently crafted, and the mild goat cheese was the right addition. A tangy goat cheese would have clashed with the simplicity of the soup. My friend chose the jambalaya, and was very happy with it. I had pot roast, subbing wonderful roasted garlic potatoes for the mashed (which I highly recommend). The bordelaise sauce that comes on the side allows one to create a beef burguignon-type dish. The beef was cooked expertly, so it could be sliced into tender pieces that hold together. We both enjoyed their signature cornbread, of course. My friend's warm apple pie was amazing. My crème brûlée was the only thing in the entire meal that was less than amazing. The sugary layer on top was exactly as thin as I like it. The custard underneath was not impressively silky in texture. That isn't bad, but it also isn't difficult to achieve. It definitely didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying every bite, and it's the largest crème brûlée I've ever had. So, I highly recommend Desha's, and definitely won't let years pass before I return. Addition: I should not have posted my review until after I had tried the bread pudding that I got to take home. Connor, who generally doesn't care for bread pudding, recommended it, so I had it today, heated 1 minute, covered, in the microwave. That stuff is wonderful. If you get it to go, do not taste it before you heat it, because it is clearly designed to be eaten warm. It is short on raisins, but that is a matter of taste, so I can overlook it. It isn't as good as the apple pie, but I got a bite of that, too, so I have tried all three of the recipes that interest me most, although I have to try the blackberry cobbler, too. We love DeShas and the casual atmosphere here. Today I'm reviewing the Burger Week special, the "let's taco about it" burger only. Our server was wonderful. The burger, while interesting, is nothing I'd ever order again. My husband agreed and we both gave it a 3 out of 5 stars. The taco meat and salsa on a burger with crunchy tortilla strips was not bad, it just wasn't great either. I highly recommend other dishes here (buttermilk fried chicken, all of their salads frankly) but this burger, while very original, just wasn't a hit with us. Been there twice. I happen to be partial to corned beef. First time I ordered a Reuben, the second time I asked to hold the sauerkraut. DeSha's kraut is pretty good - I just happen to be a kimchi guy. Both sandwiches were excellent, as were the huge basket of fries that came with them. The decor is elegant, the service was top-notch. We had a great experience at deSha's for dinner the other night! I got the chimichurri steak (a seasonal special) with asparagus and sweet potatoes, and it was super tasty. My family all liked what they ordered as well-- prime rib, fried chicken, chicken wings, and an appetizer of soft pretzels. I really enjoy the cornbread that comes out before the food. It was busy but the service was still speedy and accommodating. The live music was also a fun touch! read more

Haven't been here in a lot of years. It is more casual than I remember. We went for new years e e. Men is a lot smaller. We ended up having salmon, fried cod with panko crumbs and fried cod in standard breading. Service was ok but their menu is now more sandwiches and burgers and soups. Well this is definitely a bummer , but like always I will keep it honest. I would have given it a 2 if it wasn't for the music and cleanliness. The service was amazing and this is by no means a reflection on them. Let's start with the aka southern fried chicken. I haven't never in my life had fried chicken while in the south that consisted of a fried boneless chicken breast......and as you may of guessed yes it was dry and hammered. The prime rib pretzel was ok but would not recommend dipping it in their Au jus which was more like a brown gravy. The fries were my favorite part of the meal. I came here tonight for a friend's rehearsal dinner. We had a private room in the back which was very nice. We had charcuterie, fruit, crackers, and cheese to start. Entrees were served buffet style, and included salad, pot roast, and fried chicken, as well as Gouda pasta. I don't usually like pot roast but I liked these, and the fried chicken was really crunchy too. Dessert was delicious - some sort of cookie pie but shaped like a muffin, topped with ice cream. Came here for brunch with about 15 people for our annual Christmas get together. We sat in the Rookwood Room, which was perfect size for us, however there is no ceiling which allows all of the noise from the restaurant to travel into our "private" room. Had a great time at deSha's. We had a large party that they were able to accommodate. Service was a little slow, but our waitress was very nice. They did lose one of our orders so they all didn't come out at the same time: The ambiance is very warm and cozy. I got the prime rib pretzel bun and loved it. The meat was very tender and I loved the dip that came with it. We ordered a few apps and they were just ok. whole experience was so tasty! we came for lunch and started with the cornbread and it was AMAZING! it is a must order and was sooo good. 10/10. we came on ash wednesday so were not eating meat so i tried the choose 2: tomato soup and grilled cheese. grilled cheese was tasty but nothing special 8/10. the tomato soup was so flavorful and delicious. i really liked it! 10/10. i also got a side salad and i thought it was on the better side of caesar salads as well! 9/10. my husband got the salmon and liked it but it was a little overcooked. we probably would try something else next time. 8/10. we will definitely be back and am excited to try more things!!! read more

We had reservations for 4 Saturday night. We were promptly seated even though our full party had not arrived. The waiter was attentive and brought water immediately for all including expected guests. The restaurant became very busy. Our drink orders were delayed but I think that was because the bar was backed up. There was a large party in their party room. We haven't been there in awhile but the ambiance of the place was first rate. I'm giving 4 stars for the food. Stuffed mushrooms were underwhelming. My dinner companions loved the onion soup. I had the meatloaf. Loved the mashed potatoes, green beans were overcooked and meatloaf okay. Fried chicken was chicken "patties" not a piece of fried chicken. It came with mashed and green beans. We had a rehearsal dinner here for 30 people. They gave us a beautiful room in the back of the restaurant. We had a couple servers who did a great job. They started by getting drinks. It was a little slow but getting drinks for 30 people takes time. Then we had a buffet dinner. Pot roast was well seasoned and moist. The chicken piccata was excellent and a favorite of most of the people at my table. Gouda mad and cheese was so creamy and cheesy. It was amazing. Grilled vegetables were excellent and mashed potatoes were fresh and flavorful. The room was nice and secluded and they even had a 60" TV for us to show a video on. I kept it simple and had the Buffalo chicken salad (grilled) was super delicious. My wife enjoyed her salmon salad as the kids loved their grilled cheese. Service was friendly and prompt. The outdoor deck next to the Harpers Point Pond provided an amazing atmosphere. I was very disappointed. My son and I went there on a Sunday late afternoon and our server (Kat) which I only knew from the receipt, acted like we were an inconvenience. I was looking forward to dining here but left disappointed. Seated promptly but we weren't greeted at the table for 15 minutes. Almost walked out but decided to stay, should've left. When our waiter finally arrived he asked if we were ready for waters. No apology or acknowledgment that we had been waiting. Entire Wait staff looked disheveled. We probably only saw our waiter 6 times during our 90 minute dinner. Despite it not being busy. Restaurant was loud. Wife and I had a hard time hearing each other too. Food was unremarkable and disappointing. I ordered the Prime rib and it arrived raw despite ordering it medium well. Waiter seemed he could care less. "Medium well? Is that how you ordered it?" Sent it back to be cooked. I've never sent a plate back in my life! Came back edible but still raw in the middle. But our waiter didn't care. He dropped the check without saying a word and walked away. Drinks were left empty most of the meal. Where was management with a table touch? To top it all off my wife had an interaction with an employee in the bathroom who was waiting to use the sink and said "at least I'm washing my hands" what?!
