This was our first visit to Kirby's, and we really enjoyed it. The place was crowded, but a server came over right away to give us menus and take our drink orders. My friend was impressed with the beer menu, and I enjoyed a glass of wine....$1 off during happy hour. We got the tater tot app, covered in cheese and beef gravy, which were very good and very filling. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich which came with saratoga chips...It was delicious and a good portion. My friend ordered the parmesan tilapia with broccoli/squash, and he said it was very good. My first time here. Had to try because the railings are good. I ordered the blackened chicken wrap. Not sure that is what I received as the chicken seasoning was orange (I've never seen orange blackened seasoning). Perhaps they gave me a buffalo chicken wrap by mistake? Waiter did not bring us napkins or silverware. We asked the food runner for napkins and she brought us 4 cocktail napkins which made us chuckle. We happened by here accidentally. Expecting nothing, we came into the low lit but cozy atmosphere. Initially, I thought they only served dessert and drinks, but we were sitting at the bar. They do serve a full menu. We had a blackened salmon Caesar salad. It was quite good. Salad was huge and the salmon was beautifully cooked. My husband and I shared it and had salad to spare. What I really want to tell you about is the French onion soup. We had places to be, so we ended up taking a bowl with us which was divided into two cups. We reheated it the next afternoon and it is the most incredible French onion soup I've ever had and I am an enthusiast. I look forward to trying it fresh. I am a member of a group of retirees who have a roughly monthly lunch meeting at Kirby's to stay in touch. I have visited this restaurant frequently. It serves consistently good comfort food at a reasonable relative price. The fish fry is excellent. Today, though, I had a bowl of their burgoo. I recommend it. Consider Kirby's if you are ever in my neighborhood (Loveland OH) and looking for a local place to eat. You won't be disappointed. read more

I feel like I should apologize to the waitress for showing up. She was bothered that we sat at a dirty table. Uhh there were only two tables available and Both were dirty. My husband joked with her which also irritated the waitress so she interrupted him and said "so what do you want?".... We kept trying to order during happy hour but she kept walking away. Our last attempt was at four after seven and she said "no. It's no longer available." Happy hour was until 7. Food prices are too high already. Apologies for coming in to try to eat at 8pm. Couldn't get a drink at the bar (two bartenders ignored us). Then tried a table in hopes of service there, unfortunately we were ignored then too. Funny as the waitress came to the table next to ours 3 different times, but didn't greet us or offer us a menu. Called on a busy Saturday with hopes of getting a table for 8 people very last minute during the dinner rush, even though the restaurant was crowded they were very accommodating and got us a table together before we even showed up. Great burgers and Spinach/artichoke dip. Highly recommend if you are in the Loveland area looking for a cheap beer and a good burger. Haven't been there since it was named Sleepy Hallow so it was a first in forever . Sat down quick , service wasn't bad but the table was sticky , they ran out of the original food choice I had so I had to settle on another option - the cod fish dinner . It was too crispy , almost like more breading and not much fish truthfully . Also got wings dry rubbed but they were salty . Ultimately it's not same place and I would say there are better options but may consider coming back . read more

I'm a sucker for good French onion soup, so I had to try! Immediately as I walked in, I knew this was my kind of place. Old school hole in the wall, with a bar as far as the eye can see. The environment of this place is stellar, and we have been here in the past and did have issues with very slow service and poor food quality. The pulled pork is a huge serving, but although it's a large servicing there's not much flavor going on. The reason that I am giving Kirbys 1 star is because after about 6 hours of consuming my meal I had horrific food poisoning. The staff is always so friendly, Drinks are cold & delicious, Food is fantastic, for an appetizer get the pretzel sticks & cheese, They are wonderful, I have yet to get any food that isn't delicious, the pulled pork sammich is off the hook, the cole slaw is perfect & not runny nor does it ruin the taste of the pulled pork, I love that they have not that you can substitute for the fries, Prices are within reason for a local venue, You always feel welcome here even if it's your first visit. Very homey, neighborhood type of bar. Food is excellent. Went, for the first time, with a friend. She ordered the chicken parmasean sandwich. It came with Saratoga fries. Both items were much better than the Silver Spring House (the prior champion). The fries, especially, were not greasy or over salted. They were crisp - perfectly done. I ordered grilled mahi-mahi which came with a mixture of broccoli, summer squash and onion. Again everything was cooked perfectly. The beer selection was extensive, and unlike many locations, was not overwhelmed by IPAs. Lots of beers on tap and bottled. Drank one of my favorites, Shiner Bock - nice. The service was friendly. Since foods seemed to be cooked to order, it took awhile to get out of the kitchen. Not a problem, that. I spent the time talking to my companion and watching the NCAA hockey semi-finals. My son introduced me to Kirby's a couple of years ago. He is a big fan of the burgoo. I have recently moved to Loveland and visit Kirby's on a regular basis. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. The food is always delicious. With COVID-19, they have offered carry out. Thank goodness. I have been trying new dishes every Tuesday. The smokehouse salad has become a favorite. The dressing is amazing and the portions are generous. The Saratoga chips are the second best in town. After repeated denial, employees finally had the courage to admit my food had been tampered with before it was delivered to the table. They admitted to smashing some of the tater tots, but I highly doubt that's all they did. Knowing that employees are willing to mess with customers food is really upsetting and will cause me to never recommend Kirby's. I called a few weeks ago and said I wanted to do something fun for my mom and her boyfriend in celebrating his upcoming birthday. Kirby answered the phone and helped me buy a gift card for them. We made them a reservation for the night of his birthday, and Kirby assured me the gift card would be waiting for them and his staff would know that it was from me and my sister. I'm in Chicago, so it was REALLY helpful to have someone in Cincinnati helping to make his day great! From the moment they got to your restaurant until the moment they left, you all made their night! Not a bad divey/sports bar. The place was dark, family friendly, but not too loud. It was somewhat off of the beaten path, but it's location added to its charm. I would totally make it a normal hangout if I were a local. I'm pretty sure I got a buffalo chicken wrap, but it's been a month and I'm not positive.
