I had heard of this spot about a year ago and have not had a chance to go until this past weekend. I knew they had great cocktails but I didn't know much else about them. To say I was blown away was an understatement. The decor is super cool with flamingos everywhere, fun lights and colors that all bring that beachy and fun kinda Miami esc vibe. We shared a few different plates including the cuban (yum) so crispy and hot. The yucca fries were very fun and they had a great spicy mayo that was the best dip. The highlight of our experience was the grilled mac n cheese. We were a bit suspicious because how can you make mac n cheese Miami like or beachy. But we decided to try it. It was the best decision ever. It was cut into two thick pieces and grilled with. creme fraiche and some sort of green onion sauce on top. Literally wow, it was insanely good and so different but in the best way. Make sure to check out their house made hot sauce. The decor of this place is phenomenal. I love how they designed and how pink it is. I ordered the (shareable) empanadas. When I think of shareable I'm thinking of a big plate to share with your group. 2 empanadas are literally for 1 person for how small they are. I also tried their Cuban sandwich that was meh...I've had a lot better but I guess this is what you get in Milford. I was hoping for something close to Florida Cuban sandwiches but not even close. I ordered the fried chicken to-go along with yucca fries. 4 small pieces of chicken that were crunchy that was pretty good but yucca fries were chewy instead of crispy. I'm glad I came here to experience this because of how high the ratings were but if I'm being honest, the flavors didn't hit the spot for me. Great decor and great vibe! The service was pretty fast. 5 stars is hard to come by, but I don't just hand out 4 star ratings! This place was a vibe. Literally transported to Florida. It was so fun! I hope you're lucky enough to have the bartender we did. Made not only the best drinks but his personality was awesome. 10/10 recommend the mezcal paloma. Regretting not getting a second. The fried cheese has a fun, creamy dip with it but I'd say we enjoyed the empanadas just a little bit more. They had a cinnamony flavor to them I liked. Their dipping sauces were fun and unique. For the entrees, we tried the Cuban and the brisket. Cuban was pretty good! Not my personal fav, but that is mainly preference. The bread was fresh and tasty. The brisket had a mole sauce that really did round it out. I love anything that feels like pot roast and that's really what the meat reminded me of. Less slices of brisket and more pull-apart beef. My friend and I came here on a Thursday evening for dinner and it was such a good experience. First of all, I love the vibe here - very south beach Florida but classy and fun. Whoever was the interior designer for this restaurant - they did an AMAZING job. Onto the food, we ordered an appetizer to share and two entries. The blue crab empanadas were my favorite of everything we ordered - I could literally eat 10 oh these in one sitting haha. The Palomilla steak was really good as well and the apple cinnamon hot sauce that came with the steak was killller. Surprised to find a Cuban restaurant in Old Milford, so I had to check it out. Wonderful ambience, from the seating and tableware to the decor. There's live music to set the scene, although it was a too loud for such a small room, very close quarters. There will likely be a wait on a weekend, so put your name in and stroll the main street and explore the shops while you wait. This place is peak hipster: dim lighting, jazzy background music, and a Cuban-meets-Brooklyn vibe that says, "Yes, I ferment my own hot sauce and no, you can't have the recipe." Every item on the menu is a plaid-shirted plot twist. Just when you think you know what a sandwich is, BAM--it's pressed, pickled, torched, and served on something made from five types of ancient grain and probably blessed by a Miami jazz trio. And the Brocco Bros.' mom? Still cranking out some of the best desserts in the state--and maybe several surrounding ones. If you haven't had one of her concoctions, you haven't lived. You've merely existed in a sad, frosting-less purgatory. Her desserts are so good they could broker Middle East peace talks. I've been a huge fan of The Governor for years, and was so excited when Flamingo Drive opened up next door. Doubly so when I got a look at the Miami- and Cuban-inspired menu! Despite being right next door to its big brother, Flamingo Drive manages to have an expansive, airy and almost tropical vibe that is very different from the modern diner atmosphere next door. From the wicker chairs to the beautiful bar, you can almost pretend you're on vacation at the beach. The menu is small but curated, with delicious cocktail options as well as wines and beers. I love how the cocktail menu is divided between Fruity and Boozy options which gives you a good idea what you're in for before making a choice. The food menu has a few parallels with The Governor (notably the indulgent house-made desserts and the changing croquette, much like G's hand pie of the day). However, the dishes themselves are clearly rooted in South Florida cuisine and run the gauntlet from humble rice and beans to more elaborate seafood dishes. We called on a Saturday night at 5:30 looking for a table for four and a baby seat. We figured we didn't have a shot, but they were so kind and found a perfect spot for us to sit with our baby even though we were still driving to the restaurant. We had such a fantastic experience! We ordered a few appetizers, dinners, cocktails, and dessert. Everything we tasted was phenomenal. Especially on a freezing winter night, it was so nice to be transported somewhere warm with piña coladas! On top of that, the service was absolutely phenomenal. Cuban cuisine is something we don't see much of in Cincinnati, let alone Milford -- which is why Flamingo Drive is such a nice (and much-needed) addition. If you know anything about the owners, who are brothers, you know they're serious about flavor and even more serious about execution. And trust me, they deliver. The vibe inside is bright, colorful, and full of energy think Miami Vice meets Cincinnati with a sprinkle of Golden Girls nostalgia. (And honestly, who doesn't love the Golden Girls?) The decor alone will put you in a good mood before you even sit down. My personal favorite starter was the Broccoli Cheese Bites -- exactly what they sound like: cheesy, crispy, deep-fried perfection. I could have eaten 14 of them without blinking. For my main course, I ordered the Swordfish Milanese -- perfectly crispy, flavorful with olive oil mayo on the side. My partner had the steak, cooked "chef's choice," and it was spot-on. You can tell the kitchen knows exactly what they're doing. Don't skip the drinks -- grab a mojito (or some rum) and settle in, because you're not going to want to leave. And as for desserts? Flamingo drive, thank you for being a friend! This places was perfect to break out of the winter doldrums. The theme is 80's miami, Fl. It has wicker chairs, fancy cocktails, and floral prints. The bathrooms are themed on the golden girls and miami vice. When we were there on Friday night they had live jazz music. The vibe is 100% on point! We absolutely loved the place. I had a Caipirinha and frozen pinia colada both were delicious. My gf had the Paloma, which she raved about. For our starter we had the fried maduros. They were to die for; sweet and scrumptious. For dinner i had the cuban sandwich which was good, not great. My GF had the fried jerk chicken which she really liked, esp since she is gluten free and never gets to eat fried chicken anymore. In fact most food at flamingo drive can be made gluten free (sensitivity) so thats great. Even the key lime tart is gluten free! All was good but the pinia colada and the fried maduros really stole the show. Don't miss out on those two. Ambiance was great too. Lots of different seating options. Amazing little spot with some big time bang for your buck entrees. The accoustics weren't great, which made the place pretty loud. However, the band playing was fun, and the music was great and really added to the vibe. Don't go here for a great, deep conversation. Go here for great food at pretty darn good prices and a loud but fun party vibe. The Cuban sandwich was not only hands down the best Cuban I've personally ever had, it's one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. My wife's Ropa Doblano was a wagyu brisket that absolutely melted in your mouth and was incredibly well priced. We had a couple drinks and dessert, two entrees, and still kept it in budget. Dined here on a Friday night. Cute place and fun Miami vibe. The food was amazing. Interesting Cuban-inspired dishes, very well prepared. The wagu melts in your mouth...and not as expensive as elsewhere. My only complaint is that they need to take sound proofing measures as the acoustics made it so loud it was impossible to hear my dinner companions. But will be going back for the food.
