The noodles, vegetarian style ! And the raspberry yuzu bev.

Bone Kettle has become one of my favorite restaurants, and it's one of those places I keep coming back to because it's consistently amazing. If you come for dinner, do yourself a favor and order the Brussels sprouts, they're only available at dinner, and I genuinely get them every single time. They're that good. The noodle soups are always incredible too. The broth is rich and flavorful, the noodles are perfectly cooked, and no matter how many times I've been, the quality has never changed. That kind of consistency is hard to find and really keeps me coming back. The service is always friendly and the food comes out surprisingly quickly, even when they're busy. I also appreciate that they're a tipless restaurant with a 20% service charge already included. It's nice knowing the staff is taken care of without having to think about calculating a tip at the end.

Like most people, this place has been on my list for awhile. First thing you notice is how big it is. There are tables everywhere. Outdoor seating in the front like half of Pasadena still has from the pandemic days, plus a back courtyard. The building itself is beautiful and definitely adds to the experience. We accidentally showed up during happy hour without realizing it, which worked out nicely. We ordered the wings and lumpia. The lumpia were MASSIVE, basically egg-roll sized. Honestly though, I wasn't really a fan of either appetizer. Of course the broth is the star of the show. That's why you're here. I could have sat there drinking that broth all day. I almost finished the whole thing but ended up saving some to take home because I wanted to experiment with it on other food later. Looking back, I also completely failed my first visit. I didn't even order noodles or rice. That's like going to a burger place and forgetting fries. So part of me feels like I still haven't actually done Bone Kettle correctly yet. The one thing that kept throwing me off was the music. Somebody had on what felt like a 2021 club remix playlist. Maybe that works after 8pm, but for a 5:30 dinner crowd it felt weirdly distracting. The room and the building have one vibe, the music had another. There was also a ton of staff working. They're incredibly attentive, maybe a little too attentive. The water glasses aren't very big, so it felt like every three sips someone was back at the table refilling them. I found it a little distracting at first, but then again, I'd rather have a full glass than an empty one. I'd definitely come back and try more dishes because the menu is huge and there are a lot of things that looked interesting walking past other tables. Then again... this is Pasadena. There's also about a hundred other places I've been meaning to try first. The broth though? I'd come back for that alone.

Bone Kettle is a Pasadena gem! Delicious Filipino fusion cuisine. My go to is the bone broth soup with top sirloin. The broth is rich and light, with chewy ramen noodles. It's a clean yet flavorful broth that I really enjoy. The lectin here is so juicy and crunch, and the picked carrots and radish pair well to balance the fat. Vibes here a low light setting, great for date night. Service here has always been great as well. An amazing dining experience in Pasadena!

Make a reservation or you will not be a happy camper for dinner. This place is great and it shows by the fact that you really want a reservation. Bone Kettle is in Old Towne Pasadena. It is a beautiful spot to have lunch, dinner or brunch. We have tried all, but we do love their dinner menu the best. Parking can be a pain, but you will be fine. The place is super clean and new looking, although we have been coming for a few years now. The service is great, from the Hostess to the servers, all were on their game as was the kitchen. Our food was perfect and we have zero complaints. You must try Bone Kettle. It is worth it. It is Asian food and boy is it great. It is upscale Asian and you can taste it in every bite. Their Beef Ribs which is a Bone Kettle signature dish- also has fried shallots, scallions. It is so tender and juicy. I am not in love with their Oxtail dumplings, but they were very good and my grandson is in love with them. They are juicy and just so fresh tasting. Their Rendang Carbonara is a must try. It is 24hr braised shredded short ribs, fried shallots, chives, micro cilantro, parmesan cheese, bell peppers, noodles, bacon and poached egg. You can add bone marrow for about 12$. Do that. Finally, and we love all the food, but the Seafood Char Kway Teow is a must if you like fishcakes. It is rice noodles, pork lap cheong, prawns, fishcake, clams, mussels, calamari, bean sprouts, egg, fried shallots, green onions and great chives and chili oil. The oysters in the shell are also great. Have fun.

nasi goreng ($16) - ngl this was so simple but so fire; the fried rice was cooked to perfection; not mushy nor oily with perfectly coated sauce - the egg on top was also well done - this was a top tier nasi goreng compared to all the other ones ive had - the portion was also massive and worth the price given i still had leftovers for another meal rating: 4.5/5 - i really LOVE the execution of the dishes here and it could easily be a 5 but it was quite diabolical that they charge 20% SERVICE FEE FOR LUNCH - no tip needed but 20% for lunch is quite unreasonably steep - great hospitality and service; feels upscale but not pretentious - quick service pretty presentation - despite the service fee.... I think ill still go back because it's just so homey and simple yet delicious; i feel like it's that one place where nothing can go wrong IG: @nom.noms.only

Not gonna say I love this place nor will I say I like this place. It's just OK. There are other great restaurants in Pasadena that I'd rather go to. I do love trying fusion restaurants, but I would rather go to a restaurant that specializes in a certain region or type of food. Also, they will automatically add 20% tip on your overall bill.

Come for the delicious brunch menu!! The bone broth pho is a must. It was so delicious I wish I had more room in my stomach to finish the last bits of it. So flavorful and savory. Perfect for a cold rainy day. Friend got the steak and eggs. It came out on a sizzling platter and was juicy upon cutting into it. Flavors were also delicious as well. Can't wait to try other things on the menu.

Made a reservation for 6:30 on a Friday night and were seated immediately. The inside is not huge, but the vibes are immaculate and feel super cozy. Our server was also so nice and even itemized and split the bill for us, which I always appreciate with group dinners. Also worth noting, they have a no tipping policy because there is an automatic 20% service fee, but they fully disclose that upfront so there are no surprises. I got the bone broth with noodles because the broth looked way too good to pass up, and honestly... the broth absolutely lived up to the hype. So rich, flavorful, and exactly the kind of thing I wanted to keep drinking forever. The actual noodles and beef were a little underwhelming though. At one point the noodles kind of gave instant noodle vibes, which felt like a missed opportunity because the broth deserved better. I almost wish there were different noodle options or honestly just less noodles because I mostly just wanted to sip the broth. We also tried the ube gnocchi, which sounded amazing in theory, but it ended up being a little too creamy for me and I did not get as much ube flavor as I was hoping for. The real standout besides that incredible broth was the chicken wings. So crispy, so tender, and ridiculously flavorful. Absolutely would order those again.

    Beef Rendang Carbonara

We (party of 2) went for happy hour right as they opened at 430pm during a weekday and had no line. However the place filled up quickly by 530 so reserve if you have a larger party! Standouts for the happy hour: raw oysters, sticky ribs, sangria Their oysters come with in-house made sauces and a berry granite that blew my socks off. Ive had a lot of oysters but the berry granite + cocktail sauce gave me a new perspective of flavor! The sticky ribs are executed beautifully with a beautiful bite and is coated in a dry tamarind and chili sauce that lingers. When I have asian ribs i always anticipate overly smothered and sweet so this was a refreshing twist. Sangria was refreshing and well balanced - not too sweet. The real star of the show is the Beef Rendang Carbonara. If you get nothing else, get this. Luscious carbonara sauce, beautifully shredded beef rendang, thick noodles with a toothsome chew. 10/10 clear standout. We got to try an off menu panacotta for dessert which was savory and salty in a devilish twist! This was truly a meal with surprises! The co-owners Eric and Erwin are a phenomenal duo and it shows in both their service and food. We got to speak with Eric for a short bit and he shared their seasonal menu is always constantly evolving with a lot of ownership and pride from their cooking team! Bone kettle has left a strong impression on me and I am excited to come back!

Lovely lovely food in a warm intimate setting. I came here once a long time ago and remembered a nice hearty comfort meal in a modern atmosphere. This most recent visit, I came with my dog & toddler so the outside patio was perfect. The continuous stream of car & bus traffic drone out any excess noise my rambunctious toddler made. We ordered just a few things but everything was so good. I took a chance on the green beans and they were not disappointing. Bold in soy flavor but had a sweetness I really liked. The rendang carbonara was a creative and tasty dish but purists like my husband maybe won't appreciate it as much. My toddler DEVOURED the bone broth & noodles, and especially the beef that literally melted in the mouth. That dish is a must have every time. Looking forward to our next dinner here.

My first time at this restaurant and I was glad to find a Filipino restaurant that is elevated . It's an Asian Fusion restaurant but we came to eat our all time Filipino food. first of all, everyone was very nice and accommodating. We had a reservation and was seated in front. We were never rushed. The serving size is big so you can definitely share . Price is reasonable. It's a nice clean and more upscale restaurant to have your favorite Filipino favorites . I will definitely go back . There is street parking but we had to park in the structure .

Had a good experience at Bone Kettle. The charred seafood dish was flavorful, although a little salty for my taste. The calamari was crispy and tasty with a slight kick of spice, but I wish the sauce had been served on the side. My son ordered the beef rib and really enjoyed it. Tender, flavorful, and well prepared. The real standout was dessert. The Ube Duo was excellent and easily my favorite dish of the night. The cassava cake was also delicious. I'd definitely come back for the Ube Duo alone.

Real pleasant surprise to see so many positive reviews on the atmosphere (dark, dimly lit, romantic to fall in love with your food) and the cuisine! I wasn't looking for an authentic experience, I wanted fusion and flavors. My friend and I share a birthday week so we came here to celebrate and feel like gluttons. Here's everything we had: - Lychee dragonfruit lemonade $6 - nice and sweet - Papaya salad $18 - against our first instincts to go with the Thai steak salad (Green papaya, mangoes, tomatoes, chili, cilantro, green beans, green onions, peanuts, Tobiko, shrimp, garlic chips.) Not that much spice, tbh, and very few shrimp. Still good. - Tartare $26 (Charred hanger Steak, pickled mustard greens, shallots, chives, yuzu aioli, sesame rice crackers) Realistically at this point, someone should have told us to slow down. Portions are not overtly generous but they're large enough to share. - Bone Marrow $29 (Ginger scallion confit, sesame oil, baguettes, red endives, baby frisee, apples, pears, citrus dressing) Insane value for this price. I feel like any other restaurant would give you a single bone and you're given three here. The salad and baguettes pair well. Ask for a to-go bag for the bones and use them for your own broth the next day. - Oxtail dumplings* $18 (Oxtail, mushrooms, leeks, sesame, sorrel, San Bai Su, chili oil) Hands down the winner of the night, for the oxtail sauce. A mix of plum sauce, plum wine, vinegar, and addiction. Don't let them take the sauce away from you. Add it to white rice, your soup, dab a bit on your neck to attract divine spirits, etc. - The ramen made with 36-hour bone broth $24 5 oz. of artisanal ramen noodles, heirloom carrots, red onions & cilantro. We added 7oz brisket beef (sous vide for 12 hours with garlic, butter & herbs). Add a soft-poached egg for $3 (thanks to a random server walking by who cracked that open for me) and some white rice for $3 - rice paired well with our leftover oxtail sauce. Bone Kettle adds a 20% gratuity "service charge" to each bill to take care of the tip. I wish I'd brought cash to give an additional tip because everyone was that great. They offered recommendations freely and were always spot-on. So attentive to refilling beverages, as well. You can't add a charged tip to your bill at all, unfortunately! I'm pretty sure those oxtail dumplings re-arranged some molecules in my brain. I'm still thinking about them. I can sort of taste them if I close my eyes and click my heels together three times.

This place is mostly famous for their Turon. Just the right amount of crunch to sweetness ratio. I especially love that they have catering trays for everything you would want to bring to a filipino party. You can order their Turon in orders of 5 or more which gives you plenty of options if you want people to share. The pieces are pretty long so my tip would be to cut them in half to feed more mouths. Last time I went I got their lumpia and pancit bihon. My goodness!! Delicious and so fresh. The noodles I ate for days even after the party but everyone enjoyed it. I like the thin and thick noodles so happy they offered more than just the traditional pancit. Plenty of lumpia sauce was given and was thankful they hooked it up. The team at Chaaaste is phenomenal!! Honestly everyone is so friendly and kind. They always ask me about my day and curious where I'm going with all their delicious food. So family oriented and you could tell they put a lot of love into their food. I especially love seeing the Lola's and Aunties behind the counter at the register. So sweet! They have a small parking lot but I never had issues parking. There are always spots open. It's in a small plaza, but they offer everything you could need filipino. There's even a convenience store and some steam table staples available throughout the day. Their longanisa is fire and can't go wrong with anything they have hot and fresh. The staff also wears gloves when handling food. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some indoor & outdoor seating available with limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. I mention these things in my reviews for the sake of protecting immunocompromised people like the elderly and people sick with cancer and other illnesses. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was eating my food in this establishment several months ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they were offering some at the moment. They currently do have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is located behind the restaurant at a local medical building parking lot. It's $1 each 9 minutes with a max of $13. Or you can try to find street parking and walk on over. Food: I ordered a Lychee Martini, Saigon Summer, Mamasan's Shrimp Cake Skewers, Truffle Wok Seared Noodles with Scallop, Slow-Drip Vietnamese Coffee Flan, and Banyan Tree Ice Cream. Before I started ordering, I was immediately given some house made complimentary shrimp chips. I loved how light and airy it was. It also had an amazing crunch. It tasted just like shrimps hahaha. My lychee martini was a crisp, refreshing cocktail that perfectly balances floral sweetness with tart acidity. Order this! The Saigon summer is a spicy, tropical blend of tequila, lime leaf liqueur, agave, butterfly pea infused triplum, and a Thai chili infusion. Not really up my alley, but I'm glad I was able to try it out. I think I dislike anything spicy and super bitter in my drinks. It just tasted odd. Mamasan's shrimp cake skewers features crispy, deep-fried shrimp cakes flavored with kaffir lime and lemongrass. It is served with skewers, charred pineapple, and a sweet garlic chili dip. Definitely get this. It was so crunchy, massive, and mouthwatering. The charred pineapple provided a sour yet sweet taste that helped off set the savory seafood / fishy taste in your mouth. The truffle wok seared noodles with scallop is a dish that combines savory, smoky flavor with luxurious truffle and tender scallops, which bridges the gap between classic Asian stir-fry and Italian comfort food. As a massive sucker for Italian food and all things truffle, this dish was my favorite. The al dente handmade egg noodles were wok-tossed in a rich black truffle sauce with delicious mushrooms, fresh Brussels sprout leaves, and perfectly seared scallops. I loved that I could taste the black truffles. The truffles added a nice rich, earthy, and highly savory flavor with prominent notes roasted nuts. GET THIS DISH!!!!! The slow-drip Vietnamese coffee flan is a silky, rich egg custard infused with bold phin-drip coffee and sweetened condensed milk. It offers a perfect balance of bitter roasted coffee and sweet creamy custard. This dish was super smooth, creamy, and delicious. I loved that Star Leaf added their own twist to this dish by putting a caramel golden cage on top of this already phenomenal tasting dessert. The caramel golden cage gave this flan a nice crunch. This dish wasn't too sweet for me. As a hater of super sweet things, this flan was just right. The banyan tree ice cream was a great way to end the meal. Super refreshing! I got two scoops of Thai tea ice cream and one scoop of the coconut ice cream. Both flavors were fantastic and tasted very creamy. Not too sweet, which is how I like it. Staff: The staff here are very attentive, friendly, welcoming, and polite. Elysha waited on me when I went. She was very attentive, informative, and personable. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.

It is a small, unassuming little place with a free parking lot. Upon entering, I was greeted warmly, and I have to say, the service was great! The lady at the counter was super sweet and made small talk with me. I got my order which came out to $17.12 after tax. Food-wise, the fried chicken was indeed delicious! I loved the batter: it was shatteringly crisp. The chicken was tender and flavored well, but I loved the sauce that came with it! For the mac salad, I thought it was just okay. It tasted a bit plain from other mac salads I've tried, but the noodles were cooked perfectly. For the price, the portion size is okay, but I'm not complaining since the food was good. Overall, the friendly service and fried chicken is what makes me want to come back again! I definitely want to try their other offerings too. Would recommend!

Just be aware it is take away only from here. OH almost forgot, I really like their macaroni salad. Add Top to your list of indulgences at a fair value!

The Kare Kare from Spoon & Pork is nothing short of a warm, comforting hug in a bowl…read more When the dish arrived at my table, I was immediately drawn to its rich, golden peanut sauce -- smooth and fragrant, with a roasted nuttiness that made my mouth water before I even took a bite. Nestled in the sauce were vibrant, perfectly cooked vegetables: tender bok choy, slightly charred green beans, and slices of eggplant that had soaked up all the savory depth of the stew. At the heart of the dish lay generous chunks of beef -- fork-tender, deeply flavored, with just enough fat to melt into the sauce and give it that rich, silky mouthfeel Kare Kare is known for. Sprinkled over the top were crunchy bits, adding a satisfying contrast to every spoonful. Of course, the small side of bagoong (fermented shrimp paste) was essential -- a modest dollop transformed each bite, balancing the sweetness and creaminess of the peanut sauce with a punch of briny intensity. Paired with steaming garlic rice, every scoop felt like the perfect blend of textures and flavors, a true homage to the Filipino classic. Eating Spoon & Pork's Kare Kare felt both nostalgic and elevated -- the heart and soul of a traditional comfort food presented with an eye for freshness and balance. It's the kind of dish that makes you slow down, savor each bite, and immediately start planning your next visit.

4.5 stars. Sorry,…read moreguys - I'm still catching up on my reviews and am kicking myself for failing to write this before Spoon & Pork permanently shut its doors. This was an unforgettable eatery. During our trip to Los Angeles in May, 2023, Wendell invited Jay, Z and me to meet up with Veda and him for a late lunch at 2 PM at one of their favourite Filipino restaurants, Spoon & Pork, on Sunday, the 7th. Spoon & Pork, which originated as a food truck, was a restaurant that specialized in Filipino comfort food with a contemporary twist. They offered a fresh, inventive fusion of the flavours of the Philippines with modern sophistication. Nestled in the vibrant heart of Los Angeles' Silver Lake neighbourhood, Spoon & Pork was a cozy boutique eatery on bustling Sunset Boulevard that greeted guests with a neon pig sign at their front entrance. No private lot on this busy street, so finding nearby parking was a bit challenging and although the charming spot offered both indoor and al fresco dining, seating was also limited. The tropical-inspired dining room with warm wood accents created an effortlessly cool and relaxed atmosphere that felt both modern and rooted in tradition. Upon entry, guests were welcomed by the aroma of sizzling meats and fragrant spices which alluded to the culinary journeys to come. The food at Spoon & Pork wasn't exactly what one's nanay (mom) or lola (grandma) would cook. Celebrating fresh takes on the richness of Filipino cuisine, the menu was an invitation to indulge in unexpected, compelling twists on a thoughtfully curated selection of traditional dishes, infusing familiar flavours into new forms. Below are what we ordered: beef tapa ($25) - MASARAP (DELICIOUS)! Of all the dishes that we ordered, this was the winner of them all as the succulent meat packed a punch of flavour. adobo tofu ($14) - One of Wendell's regular orders, this notable plant-based option, was a tasty, innovative take on the Philippine classic that balanced tradition with modern creativity. laing ($9) - From their platito, small plates section, this bowl of coconut braised taro leaves was rich and creamy deliciousness, but, yes, mini in portion size. garlic rice ($4/$7) - Ordering the garlic rice over plain jasmine rice was a no brainer. Thoroughly infused with the savouriness of the many bits of garlic, this rice perfectly paired with all of the other dishes. bistek ($28) - The skirt steak was very tender and the sauce perfectly balanced the tanginess from the calamansi juice with the savoury soy sauce. lechon kawali ($23) - Another reimagined classic dish featuring crispy, golden pork belly with crunchy skin and tender, flavourful meat inside. The dish was complemented by a tangy, pickled red cabbage that enhanced the crispy texture and added a refreshing contrast. This mastery of flavour and texture tickled Z's tastebuds and won him over. Before this day, Z was never a fan of Filipino food. Everything tasted boldly rich and every bit intensely intoxicated our taste buds. Service was quick, friendly, and attentive. What a remarkably epicurean feast and delightful experience we enjoyed! We're super bummed that Spoon & Pork permanently closed shoppe. Z and I were hoping to return for another tasty meal. Truly, a worthy spot this place was to hit up for an impressively creative taste of the Philippines in Los Angeles.

Who says Filipino food can't be considered fine dining? Chef Josh Espinosa is showcasing how the…read moredishes we're accustomed to can be prepared with an elevated approach. Sampa is located in the Arts District near the intersection of S Hewitt St and E 5th right next to Urth Cafe. There's a parking lot directly across the street from the restaurant but you can also park around the corner by Arts District Park for $5. If it's your first time visiting Sampa, you have to be open minded towards the concept itself. Yes, the dishes here are smaller in portion and costs more than your typical fast casual spot. All the servers here are attentive and offer to help with what to order if you're unsure. For dinner, the Crispy Pasta is their take on crispy pata but served with spinach tagliatelle. The crab fat fried rice is a no brainer and depending on the night you come, I highly recommend the Sinigang xiaolongbao special. You don't have to be Filipino to appreciate what Sampa is doing for the culture, just come by and see for yourself.

Found this place by chance and wanted to love it but now torn between a 1 and 2 star review…read more First, entering the restaurant it was dead empty except for a single diner. Decor is all black. By design to hide cheap furniture or dust I don't know but it did not elevate the space. Pretty cold welcome as well. Went to Bestia down the street the week before and everyone greets you and the energy was high, not here. To the food, I'll preface this by saying I'm Filipino so I know the flavors. First course, kare kare tamales ($26). Pretty bland, meat didn't seem like oxtail but was at least well braised. Masa was really mushy and sauce lacked peanut flavor and salt, seemed like just a lot of cream. Second course, Bicol Express Mezzelune pasta. Seemed like the same protein inside as the kare kare tamales and the pasta was really undercooked. $38 for 7 undercooked mezzelune? For that price, could have had a whole meal at Olive Garden for 4 and been more satisfied. Entrees were Crab Fried Rice ($38), Pork Pinakbet ($56) and Crispy Duck Pancit ($48). The Crab Fried Rice was the best of the night with good flavor and lots of crab. The Pinakbet was nothing like pinakbet I've had before. It was a huge pork knuckle drowned in a heavy cream sauce. There were 2 okras in it and no other veg. The Crispy Duck Pancit was overcooked (not crispy) duck breast over some kind of noodles that were like mediocre Chinese take out with a little vinegar to make it Filipino. Toward the end the waitress then asked if we wanted dessert (of which there was only one option) even way before we were done with the entrees. When we declined, she dropped the check even though we were still eating. I had such high hopes for this restaurant because I think Filipino flavors are prime for higher end dining but we got none of the punchy, bright flavors that are common in Filipino cuisine. I would say the food for the most part didn't even measure up to Waipahu or Daly City Filipino restaurants much less elevated, fine dining. This meal for 2 adults and 2 teenagers was $400. We've had better in Waipahu for $75. Boggles my mind how there are so many good reviews here. Unless you are rich and desperate for anything resembling Filipino food, I would just take a pass here. P.S. the 2 mocktails for $14 each were also underwhelming and a little weird.
