My sister is in town visiting and he treated me to dinner last night. First time trying Spoon and Pork. I'm a snob when it comes to Filipino food. I only eat dishes that my family's cooking. And it's always been hard to find a restaurant that can compare to the family home cooking. My standards are high when it comes to Filipino food. The food at Spoon and Pork was not bad, decent at best. The prices were reasonable. The pork belly adobo was melts in your mouth. Lumpia Shanghai was not crispy enough and the filling was sparse. Laing had a weird smell and after taste and my least favorite. exterior wasn't crispy enough and the filling was sparse.

Finally visited Spoon & Pork. My boys took me to dinner for Mother's Day and we all loved it. We ordered so much food and it was worth it! We ordered the oyster sauce mushrooms, adobo wings, garlic rice, lechon kawali, kare kare, pata, and bistek. I love that there's more and more Filipino restaurants popping up and introducing different foods to other cultures. I'm usually super picky when eating Filipino foods, but I'm always happy to support Filipino restaurants. Every time I go to a Filipino restaurant I try to embrace and support what they're trying to showcase because I can't lie.... No one is gonna cook like your mom. Even my boys who absolutely love my cooking always does this, but nowadays I just sit back and enjoy the food as it's a way for our people to introduce a part of our culture to the rest of the world. I highly recommend this place if you haven't tried it yet. It may not be your mom's cooking, but their food is absolutely delicious and I'm proud to support this and say it is delicious Filipino food. The restaurant is pretty clean, chairs are a little uncomfortable for me, but staff is super friendly. Service is super quick and this restaurant is popular because several parties came in and out while we dined in. Parking is a little crazy, unless the locals know something I don't. I would definitely love to come back!

As someone who enjoyed plenty of Filipino food growing up, I was looking forward to trying this place. I'd say it is modest Filipino fusion. My rating is a 3.5/5. The food was decent, but perhaps I need to venture beyond the basics to get a full sense of this restaurant's range. We had the adobo fried chicken and the lechon kawali silog. I enjoyed the familiar flavors with the fusion take, like adding pickles or preparing the chicken a different way, but the flavors (& portions) shied in comparison to the OG dishes. Would love more garlic and more sauce! Pleasant folks servicing the restaurant, not a long wait at all. The vibe in the restaurant was a bit off? The bamboo furniture and palm(?) leaf wallpaper weakly grounded the otherwise modern industrial kitchen vibe and exceptionally loud country/folk music. It is Silverlake in a decently busy area, so pay for street parking or find a neighborhood spot.

Good spot in a perfect location. I had a massage appointment in the area that I arrived early for with the intent on getting food. I walked a block and found Spoon & Pork and checked the menu. The patio was situated right on Sunset Blvd where you can people watch perfectly. I decided to to get the pork belly Adobo Pork Belly all day breakfast and the Freddo chilled red wine. All was good. The dish was topped with a sunny side up egg and flavorfully seasoned pork belly and rice. Service was good, price was good, food was good. I am looking forward to trying more on the menu.

Spoon & Pork caught my eye during my visit and stay in the Silver Lake area. It offers elevated Filipino cuisine. RESERVATION Reservations are available via Open Table, but we were seated quickly for our late lunch on a weekday since the restaurant wasn't busy. SERVICE There was one staff member working the register and waiting tables. They were really friendly and took the time to chat with us and recommend dishes. FOOD * Lumpia Shanghai: pork, shrimp, sweet chili lime sauce * Adobo Pork Belly: slow cooked, adobó glaze, garlic confit * Kare Kare: roasted short rib, peanut sauce, king mushrooms, long beans, bok choy, eggplant, peanut brittle, bagoong xo (SF) * Garlic Rice * Calamansi Cucumber Mint drink The food was beautifully presented and well-prepared, with everything served hot at the perfect temperature. The lumpia had a delightful crispiness, and the pork and shrimp filling was quite tasty. Our favorite dish was the Kare Kare; we loved the peanut-forward curry and the sweet, crunchy touch from the peanut brittle. The curry had a thicker, gravy-like consistency than what I've had from Filipino curry. However, it complemented the garlic rice beautifully. One area for improvement would be the Adobo Pork Belly. While it was cooked to perfection--soft and tender--the adobo flavor was primarily concentrated in the glaze at the bottom of the plate. It would enhance the dish if the pork itself could take on more of that rich flavor throughout. Overall, it was a great meal with just a couple of minor adjustments needed! Overall, a satisfying selection of Filipino dishes to crave.

As a filipino, I had to check this spot out and see what they had to offer. The food was great! I will say the only downside is that the prices are a bit steep, but nonetheless it tasted amazing. The service was fast and they were very hospitable. Definitely check out this spot when you have the time!

I went here with a few friends before a show. It was a little smaller than expected and parking can be difficult on the street. I would say the food was just okay. Yes it was flavorful but the pork adobo was a little salty and the beef in peanut sauce only had a few pieces. I did enjoy the garlic though. Overall I think there are probably better Filipino inspired kitchens out there but if you're looking for a quick fix this does the job

Eggplant Ensalada

Spoon and Pork is a gem in Silver Lake. They are serving a modern take on Filipino food, and I'm absolutely here for it. During my visit, I had the opportunity to try the following: Pork Belly Nigiri Eggplant Ensalada Crispy Pata Kare Kare The dishes here were all delicious. Sure, a bit of a different take on items that I personally grew up with, but all absolutely amazing! I loved how the kare kare was cooked separately, keeping all the vegetables crunchy. Also, their bagoong (iykyk) is housemade -- what!? It was really good too. Their crispy pata, a star of the show, was huge and definitely meant to be shared by a handful of people. The eggplant ensalada, was smokey, which was perfect for me, and the pork belly nigiri was heavenly. Spoon and Pork has generously offered meals for those in need. A huge shoutout to them and to all the businesses that have keeping our community in mind.

will start off with parking is pretty much non existent as the parking lot next to the restaraunt is for another place. So you will need to find street parking. We came around brunch time and when they just opened so it wasn't busy but it was by the time we left. Being a Filipino restaraunt, hearing emo 90s playlist (mind you I like that music) didn't really fit the vibe. I was kinda expecting maybe some Filipino music but that's just me. Food wise I had the Lechon Kawali Silog. The garlic rice was on point really good! The egg, wish it was a little runny as the yolk wasn't. Kinda surprised a Filipino restaurant had no mangtomas. The Lechon was still good lots of flavor but still wish I had that sauce. Overall the food pretty good, just the feel of the restaraunt didn't have the Filipino vibe.

Lechon Kawali Rice

Delicious with kind servers! Came here as a solo diner for lunch and was sat immediately. Lechon kawali is delicious and so crispy I would 100% recommend.

Came here for dinner on a Sunday evening. Parking lot is small and shared with the restaurant next door. The restaurant wasn't too busy for dinner service. Food was good, but was on the fattier/ greasier side with not enough acidity IMO. My biggest gripe was they were out of quite a few dishes like the lumpia and I wasn't thrilled about that. Otherwise it's a pretty good spot to grab a meal.

Magdalen K.

I came here with a friend before a concert, and it definitely exceeded our expectations. This is a smaller spot, we had no issues getting a table on a Sunday night but it could get busy on peak days and times. The service was fast, food was spiced super well, the meat was cooked to perfection. The only issue we had is we over ordered and couldn't save the leftovers since we were going to a concert. I definitely want to come back with a larger group so I can try more of their dishes.

Garlic rice

I've never visited a Filipino restaurant before and I was craving Asian food for lunch so we decided to check out this place. There's only street parking so be prepared to parallel park. We ordered 3 entrees and a side of rice for 3 people. I liked how on the menu, they give you different sizing options for a lot of the dishes. We chose the smallest side for each dish because we wanted to try a little of everything. Garlic rice was so good, the garlic bits were not burnt at all. Patita is a definite order!! Crispy outer edge skin and soft/moist meat in a sweet chili sauce. We also ordered the lechon but it was a bit on the fattier side but all of their pickled cabbages is so good. The bistec was also perfectly cooked medium rare with a tang of sourness. Everything was really good. I would recommend to others!

It's basically heaven if you're Filipino like me, and if you're not Filipino, it's a great way to try yummy authentic street food! It's self service where you go in line to pick your skewers, pay, then grill them to your liking outside. Each skewer is about $2 each. It's a really popular place so there's likely a longish wait but it's totally worth it. The bbq sauce they add at checkout was sweet and yummy, I would recommend adding it to everything. After grilling, the skewers were delicious and exactly what I wanted. Not only do they sell skewers but almost everything I could think of: mango with bagoong, fruit salad, buko pandan, turon, carioca, gulaman, fish ball (the ones you would get from the street cart in the PH), and a lot more! The service is also amazing. Waiting in line and eating outside, their social media manager goes around talking to people on a mic and making sure everyone is having a good time. At checkout, they are happy to help you and grab anything you need. They also have people outside monitoring the grill and stepping in if you need help or the stick accidentally catches on fire. Just the feeling of sitting outside surrounded by Filipinos and Filipino food lovers and eating food from our childhood, just made me and my group feel so nice. So, early one Saturday, I pulled up with my sister from another mister to get our breakfast on. First of all, tell me why they're basically down the street from me. They've been around as long as I've been alive and not once had I been. Truly a shock considering my commitment with never making food at home. I stay eating outside. There was only one other group of diners while we were there. A family of 4 who were seated in the back room. We ended up being seated in the area facing Fountain. My first comment was how I felt like I was at my Lola's house because the decor was giving Lola vibes, in the best way. I felt like I was home. My friend got the laing meal and I got the tocino. We also got a side order of the sweet & spicy longanisa. Broooooooooooooo That food was wow. I'm gonna say it again - it tasted like home. Down to the fixins on the table like vinegar and suchas. I appreciated all the little touches. We ate so much yet still had so much leftovers. Their portion size was crazy. We would've been good with just one meal and another protein a la carte. We also got a small bowl of their arroz caldo. Let me tell you something, a single tear legit went down my left cheek. That tasted like what my mom made for me when she was still with us. The three of us came by car a little after 5 pm, parking on the surface lot adjacent to Far East Plaza (managed by Unified Parking; plenty of open spots; pay first using kiosk entering license plate number; display ticket on dash; $5 good until 8 pm). We had a reservation for 5:30, so waited in the common Far East Plaza courtyard, until they opened the doors (got some ice cream from nearby Scoops ice cream shoppe...never pass up an opportunity to eat good ice cream outside in LA). We were the first to be seated, and got a comfortable booth inside. By the time we left, most of the indoor seating had been filled up, so reservations are recommended for weekday dinner. Lasita is marketed as a Filipino Rotisserie with Natural Wine. It's a small, focused menu with a lot of interesting items that we wanted to sample. The portions tend to run on the smaller side, so we had no leftovers. Sinigang Shrimp Chips ($6) - shrimp chips can mean different things, here is the common version: the light fluffy brand (like Dragonfly) that you can buy uncooked and deep fry at home. It was very lightly seasoned with tamarind powder. Kinilaw Crudo ($21) - the best dish I ate here, savoring every bite. Kinilaw is a raw fish Filipino dish, which for me has always played second fiddle to a good Poke tuna bowl. I now realize it's because of the quality of the tuna in the past has been subpar. Plus as the name implies, this is really a crudo. In every way, this dish was better than any other kinilaw I've tasted, and was on par with the best tuna carpaccio I've eaten (a carpaccio is a type of crudo, just very thinly sliced). Like good quality sushi, the pieces were smaller considering the price, and made me wanting more. I wonder what they could do with a tuna collar. Chicken Inasal ($28) - why we came. It's a half-chicken (a steak knife is provided to cut into pieces), basted in a savory/flavorful butter. It's not a spring chicken (which is what we were hoping for), and the white meat wasn't the most tender/flavorful, but the dark meat pieces with the skin was wonderful. Pork Belly Lechon ($25) - 4 pieces of expertly cut lechon, served at the right time to make the crunchy skin still be softly edible, and the meat to be tender. This is a very well prepared lechon. Rice: White Rice ($3) and Chicken Fat Rice ($6.50) rounded out the meal. Buko Pandan Sago ($14) - unlike the other dish portions, this one was generous, with the right amount for the three of us to share. The base was pandan tapioca pudding, and used the strawberry, cream, and coco to produce a bite with texture and creamy sweetness. A great dessert. Service matched the decor/setup being cool and professional, and the noise level was low, making for easy conversation. The food came out as soon as it was prepared, letting us appreciate it in stages. They left us a water bottle for us to self refill our glasses, which I appreciated. Even though the restaurant was getting full, there was no perceptible rush from the staff for us to leave. We left after finishing our dessert, and stopped by the nearby hamburger place to get some to go.
