Plenty of authentic Filipino food selections from viands to desserts. Servers were nice and attentive sometimes makulit haha. Bbq done right in front of you. There was a long line when we got here so that says it all. Lots of cute little tables around. Good vibes all over. Plenty of free parking outside

I went to the Philippines. I loved the tropical atmosphere there. Okay, it's near the equator, but not that tropical. Angeles Bay is more tropical, but that's another story. The Filipino cuisine didn't leave me much impression. Most food I had in the Philippines was western fast food or Chinese food in Chinatown. I still remember a fried chicken restaurant called Max's. Later on, I came to Los Angeles. There are so many varieties here. I do dining and cooking a lot, mostly Asian cuisine. I cook Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai, even Indian, but not really into Filipino and Indonesian. So, Filipino cuisine is still very interesting and not that familiar to me. I know some Filipino cuisine like adobo, slow stewed in brown vinegar sauce, just because the name is similar to the famous Adobe. I didn't even know the meaning of Adobe until now. I visited all the Asian grocery stores in Greater Los Angeles. I also went to Filipino markets, Pacific Island or Seafood City. I bought prepackaged frozen Rellenong Bangus, which is stuffed milkfish, and I also cooked adobo for myself. I had a very good experience at PhilHouse@Pacific Island in Rancho Cucamonga. I wrote a review in Chinese for that food court and highly recommended it. Unfortunately, that one was closed, as well as the market. Recently, I found that Pacific Island has twenty or thirty some locations, each one attached to a food court including PhilHouse. So good, I paid a visit to its Santa Monica Blvd location. I saw Max's again inside the market. PhilHouse was the biggest booth there. The food dish marks were not as clear as they were in the Rancho Cucamonga location. You couldn't find the dish names according to the plates easily. Let's talk about the food. They provided sets: one dish with rice or noodles for $8.99, two for $14.99, and three for $19.99. If you choose beef/goat/seafood/pork, every dish costs one dollar more. I had three dishes with rice vermicelli. Let's talk about the food: Chicken Adobo 3/5 Adobo literally means vinegar stewed meat, but it was too sour. The flavor was sour, but it didn't seep into the meat. The chicken itself was a little overcooked; the texture was fluffy. And by the way, the chicken was cooked with quail eggs, but only one quail egg per serving? Lechon Kawali 4/5 Literally means fried pork belly. It was really good, the texture and taste just like Chinese grilled pork belly. It was okay, a very good balance between salty and sweet, tender and juicy. But the only issue was that some pieces' skin was too hard to bite. Sinigang na Isda, Sinigang na Pampano 4/5 Literally means stewed fish in tamarind sauce. It had a good taste, and it was just the reason I would visit PhilHouse again. I had very good Sinigang na Pampano in Rancho Cucamonga before, and that's the reason why I'm interested in Filipino dishes. The Sinigang na Pampano in this location was a little too light, didn't have enough aroma and taste. Good, but not that good. Pancit Bihon 4/5 Literally means fried rice vermicelli. Very good wok stir-fried, good taste, good flavor, good texture, not oily. The only issue was that the pork fat with skin was too greasy and almost made me vomit. Just get rid of that cube, you still have a very good stir-fried rice vermicelli. Anyway, I rank it 4/5. It was a good gourmet tasting experience.

Solid spot for cheap and casual Filipino eats in the East LA area! This Filipino food stall is located inside the Island Pacific supermarket. There was a big variety of prepared Filipino foods on display. I like how they also have the grill on display so you can see the staff freshly grilling the different foods. I ended up getting a Combo #1 which included half white rice and half pancit (Filipino rice noodles) with your choice of entrée. For my entrée, I chose the pork sisig which is $1 extra for pork. In total, the combo meal was $9.99 which was such a good deal since the portion sizes were huge. I could only eat half of the meal, so I was able to save some for another meal. Firstly, the rice was cooked perfectly-it was fluffy and not mushy or dry. Next, the pancit was great! The flavor was good and noodle texture was on point. I really liked how there was big and generous chunks of meat in the pancit. It was also unique since they put chunks of fish ball and fish cake in the pancit which I've never had in pancit before, but it was good. Lastly, the sisig was decent. I liked the peppery flavor of it. However, I wish it was crispy as it was all soft. Additionally, since I wrote a Yelp review, they gave me a Halo-Halo on the house. That was the best thing I had from there. The Halo-Halo was delicious, it was cold, sweet, and refreshing. I liked how all the ingredients worked harmoniously with each other and nothing was overpowering. The ube ice cream, leche flan, jellies, beans, and coconut milk were all very good mixed together. There are also several chairs and tables in front of the stall if you wanted to dine there. The service was good and the servers seemed pretty friendly. As this is a grocery store, there is tons of parking outside. Overall, a good experience here. I would recommend to anyone wanting to try Filipino food or looking for some cheap, casual and filling eats in the area with a home cooked vibe.

Food was so tasty! I highly recommend the lechon and pancit. Food is well priced and very well served. Service is fast, cafeteria style. Highly recommend! Tons of parking.

Food is not that great ever since they've started. The first time I bought food to go here, the bbq pork was undercooked. This time, the bbq pork was cold and really hard. Also, all the prepared dishes are oily and unappetizing. For almost $20 for a two item combo, it's not worth it. I'd rather cook it or buy at another Filipino food place.

I'm super glad that Island Pacific has finally opened at a new location with Phil House in East Hollywood. I arrived on a busy Friday afternoon and was craving for some decent Filipino fast food. Service is pretty quick and all staff are very attentive upon taking your orders on the spot. I ordered the Chicken Inasal combo with Ginataang Gulay (green beans and kabocha in coconut milk). I had the option to include half rice and half pancit bihon. If you're a rewards member of Island Pacific, be sure to enter your phone number at the cashier. The seating area is quite wide with enough seating ranging from stool bars and tables. The chicken inasal was quite tender and chewy. The ginataang gulay had the right amount of umami while the vegetables were able to retain in its crispness. Their pancit bihon could be better because it was not packed with ingredients and lacked some flavor. Other than that, their halo-halo is phenomenal because it was packed with the most authentic ingredients (including gulaman, pinipig and more). It truly replicates Tagalog/Caviteño style halo-halo. I love the fact that their halo-halo is already pre-made and ready to be consumed. Phil House is now one of my go-to spots for Filipino fast food.

Phil house has really good Filipino food. They have pretty good prices and you can also go shopping for groceries at the same time.

Good place for Filipino food. BUT the line is horrible. The need to separate the crispy deep fried from the regular food

Just for us to order, a bit disappointed honestly. The food arrives decently fast. I dig in, Mama B is hungry y'all! The shrimp is cheap, okay. Small, fishy, rubbery Walmart type of shrimps. The corn plasticy, cheap and just disgusting. The potatoes, poorly cooked and under seasoned. The clams... no notes. Now at this point Mama B is scared y'all...I wasn't trying to get food poisoning. I'm disappointed, honestly the most flavourless seafood boil I have ever had the displeasure of eating. What's horrifying is the bill was $91...$91!!!! I feel like this math is just not mathing. I believe the tax is ridiculously high and possible charged for water cups? I really truly could've made a mean Walmart seafood boil for a cheaper price, that'd actually be seasoned... Not Mama B approved, go elsewhere.

There are 3 different dipping sauces which are delicious. It is a lot of food. You definitely get your money worth here. The staff is friendly and attentive. They cooked the seafood at the table. There is a combo order of both, but it includes the American marinated crab and an extra small live uni. With their recommendation, we opted for the Korean marinated crab and small uni to share with 2 adults and one kid. When the food came out, they gave us another live uni on the house and I was so happy because I didn't want to share mine! The food was so homey and delicious. The seafood pajeon was so loaded with all the seafood bits and the soy bean soup was the perfect palette cleanser. Service was great and they were so helpful to answer any questions we had. The marinated crab was very delicious, and spicy crab was even better, but the marinated crab is definitely higher quality, so if you want to get the best of both worlds order both or get the combo. When we finished ordering, appetizers came immediately and basically covered the whole table, and as a Korean restaurant with such warm hospitality I assume you can get more side dishes if you want, but we didn't want to waste any food. All dishes tasted great. The uni wasn't very surprising but it's still good, so if you are doing à la carte you can skip it. All in all a 5+ for the restaurant, also the restroom seems pretty clean so it's another plus for this smallish restaurant.

Back then, they didn't take reservations, but I noticed recently that they started accepting reservations via Resy, so I made a reservation and my husband and I came here in March. Found Oyster is located in East Hollywood, on the same street where Saffy's is. It can be a bit hard to find street parking nearby because of neighborhood rules, but we managed to find a spot after circling a bit. The restaurant is very small, but it has both indoor and outdoor seating. I think the size of it adds to the charm. It also has a nautical theme inside and a New England feel about the place. The seating options inside are either at the bar, or tiny high-top tables. For appetizers, we shared the peel and eat prawns, half a dozen oysters and the sicilian crudo. Everything was good, but the servings were smaller than I expected. I also think that the peel and eat prawns would have been pretty mediocre without the special sauce. For mains, my husband got the lobster roll, while I had the mussels. His lobster roll was good, but in my experience it's hard to go wrong with buttered lobster on bread served with fries. My mussels were fresh and tasty. They were good, but nothing to write home about. Service was friendly and efficient.
