We had a brunch reservation on Father's Day and was very happy with our experience. We got the pork belly hash, blue crab cake Benedict, ginger chicken broth ramen and a side order of the ube waffle. The hash and Benedict were really good but honestly the star of the plate was the crispy potatoes. The broth did not disappoint. It was so flavorful and the ramen noodles were the perfect texture. It came with white meat which I am not a fan of but my 4 year old liked it. The only item we didn't like was the ube waffle. It had a very chalky taste/texture. Came here on a Sunday around noon and was seated right away. The main reason I wanted to come here was because of their ube and coconut French toast so of course I ordered that and it did not disappoint! If you like ube then I would definitely recommend trying their ube French toast. The coconut and ube paired really well together and it wasn't too sweet. My friend tried the prime fatty brisket bone kettle noodle & broth and really liked the broth but said the brisket was a bit tough. They pour the broth table-side which I thought was an interesting touch haha. Two of my long time dear friends and I had dinner at Bone Kettle (BK) this past weekend. My friends had brunch here before, but 1st time here for dinner and this was my 1st time ever. What a lovely restaurant! I feel like the outside patio dining is bigger than the inside dining though LOL. We were seated inside at the corner table near the front entrance which was great because we got the natural light from the outside. We started with a couple appetizers and some drinks. Yellowfin Tuna Poke was very tasty... wonderful and lean tuna cut, vinaigrette was delightful, tobiko which is flying fish roe (honestly, I didn't see much of this if any in the dish) plus wonton chips. Spicy Papaya Salad was a gorgeous dish... taste was okay... it needed more lime and kick to it. Their dinner menu is pretty diverse with Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia & Singapore flare. My friends ordered the Rendang Carbonara pasta... looks delicious (I didn't try it) and Lumpia which is another appetizer similar to an egg roll, but a higher end egg roll LOL... I did try this one and it was okay... thought the filling could have had more flavors to it. BK is famous for their bone broth noodles with choice of meat. I don't eat beef, but I'm okay with beef broth. So I got their bone broth with ginger seared chicken. Waitress recommended the prime fatty brisket for those who eat beef. Broth was WOW savory and divine... so warm and comforting to the tummy! I loved it... I should have taken the leftover broth home, but I didn't. I won't let it stay next time LOL. Good portions of tender chicken breasts. Plenty of thick egg noodles. The only thing that it lacked was some vegetables... I only saw carrot slices, onions, and cilantro... some bok choy or leafy greens would have been a nice addition. Near the end of our meal, my friends decided to try another appetizer, Chicken Satay. This one was fantastic... chicken was so tender and nicely marinated... just delish! Glad we got our 4th appetizer in for the night LOL... maybe next time, we just do appetizers. Why not! All staff was very friendly, pleasant, and patient with us. We didn't order our main courses until after we finished our 1st two appetizers LOL. Waitress was gracious enough to let us be. We were visited by the owner of BK at our table at the end of our meal... what a nice surprise... he is a very polite and friendly gentleman... his son was there, too, but was attending the check-in area. Atmosphere was welcoming and romantic. Prices were okay. By the way, gratuity gets added automatically to the bill regardless... this is to ensure servers and kitchen staff receive gratitude for their excellent service... since my friends treated dinner, I'm not sure of %... maybe 18% or 20%. Parking can be found at the Marriott Park and Walk Structure just 2 blocks north of BK on Raymond Ave... $1.00 for 1st 2 hrs and $2.00 for each additional hr and $25.00 for daily max or lost ticket. Came to Bone Kettle to try their brunch menu on a Sunday and was able to easily make a reservation the morning of. We brought 2 dogs so sat outside, which is essentially street side tables. It was well set up with shade for most tables, but beware that some of the 2 people tables are less ideal and right on the edge of the sidewalk. Service wise, we were able to get served and assistance quickly even though we sat outside! We ordered the island rice plate ($26), the yuzu avocado toast ($16), and a pandan waffle on the side. We also checked out their dog menu (so fun!) and for a cigar and a small bone marrow. The dogs seemed to really enjoy their treats + they got ice water as soon as we sat down, which was such a nice touch for a summer day. The human food was okay - nothing really stood out as a must-eat-again, but everything was still tasty. The prices were a bit steep for what you get in my opinion and my favorite out of the 3 items we ordered was the toast (2 toasts with an egg on each). On top of this, we were charged an automatic 20% surcharge on our bill, which was then further taxed. They even charge mandatory tips on take out orders. I have never seen this done before and it feels really greedy. My favorite dish here is almost double the price it was only 1 year ago, yet they still put the burden on the patrons to pay extra in order to pay their staff. There's outdoor seating as well as indoor, I chose outdoor since our friends had dogs. Parked in the pasadena parking lots which are free 90min then 2$ per hour. Very convenient. Had a great experience with the family this past weekend! We sat on the patio because I had my dog, they brought out a a nice bowl of water for her. She was happy. We ordered a lot of food and everything was spectacular! I had the Loco Moco and was very impressed! It come with garlic fried rice stacked with a very large grass-fed beef w/ spam patty cooked to perfection with 2 over easy duck eggs on top. The flavor combinations were to die for, nothing could have made it better. And it's quite large, I left with a nice to-go box that I ate later that day. My fiancé ordered the Oxtail Hash, she loved it so much that she wouldn't even give me a bite! It came with potatoes, mushrooms, bacon, bell peppers and onions topped with Oxtail and 3 eggs! My nephew and Sister-in-law ordered the Island Rice Plate, it was an amazing breakfast combination of Garlic white rice, 2 eggs, longganisa, pan-fried spam, bacon, fried chicken wings, pickled green papaya and carrots. Check the picture, this dish was the total package. They loved it and cleared the plates. We finish the meal by sharing 2 WaffleStacks. These were beautiful dishes that tasted better than they looked. Pandan & Ube waffles, condensed milk, whipped cream, berries, and ube ice cream!!! What a great way to end the brunch. We had to park in a commercial structure for a fee, the closest structure is diagonally across the street, my nephew parked me two blocks further away. The place was busy and we had to wait a bit, even though we had a reservation. We ordered small plates as starters to share; Spicy Papaya Salad, Brussel (sic) Sprouts, Eggplants, Oxtail Dumplings, and Bone Marrow. Our waiter took our orders for our entrees at the same time and we all had the broth (noodles); two of us had the Prime Top Sirloin, my sister had the Seared Ginger Chicken and my eldest nephew had the Prime Fatty Brisket. All the food was good with subtle flavors, maybe too subtle, there was nothing outstanding flavor wise. The bone marrow was roasted to perfection and had an excellent rich beef fat flavor but the scallion con fit was too subdued for me, I prefer it saltier and with lots of garlic. There also was a stingy amount of toast to lather on the marrow. The papaya salad was novel and refreshing, we should have ordered a higher spice level. Our broths consisted of egg noodles topped with our choices then the broth added at the table. All the protein was of high quality and my sirloin was good and tender. My broth was tasty and delicate. Both my nephews added the poached egg and they commented that the yolks were too runny and mixed with their broth. Service was spotty, our servers were often present but neglected to do things to indicate that they were in the game; no cloth to wipe up the dripping water from our wine bottle retrieved from the bucket, no cleaning of the table after the messes we made prior to the next dishes without asking and etc. A consequence of the 20% "no service charge"? I've eaten here twice and both times it's been a delicious culinary experience. What else can I say when all the reviews here are great? Definitely get a reservation, unless you come right when it opens. Don't bring another restaurant's drink, but when I did and didn't finish my boba, they offered to keep it in the front in their FRIDGE! That's service. The lighting here is dark as hell. I'm 36 but I felt so old because I couldn't see anything. I'm not even going to explain everything I've eaten here, but I do recommend some things: nasi goreng. When I was there they had a crab option. It was delicious. The bone broth- amazing- but get the basic cheapest one. There was no difference in the experience when I got the basic sirloin vs the oxtail. In fact I wasn't as impressed with the oxtail - i would rather have it in a different dish. Don't waste your money on that. Lastly, the prawns were amazing. The bone marrow was good, but I don't think they put enough salt on it so it just tasted like all fat, and we didn't have enough bread that came with it so by the end we were putting globs of the marrow on the bread. The prices are high here, but I think if you come with a group of let's say 4 (and no more) you can try a variety of things without having to break the bank too much. read more

The presentation was very off putting with 2 large half bones on top of toasted bread. The ginger sauce doesn't pair well. The salad mix with this dish was out of place. 2) loco moco - edible. Why was the plate so hot? Did they finish the cooking of the beef patty in a broiler? I don't see any ingredients for loco moco needing a blistering hot plate. Very strange. The beef patty needed more fat ratio. It was pretty dry. It wasn't enjoyable. 3) bone broth noodles with ox tail - edible. The soup was decent but one note. Not too fond of the noodles used. On the side was one big hunk of ox tail. At an "elevated" restaurant, the meat should be separated from the bone. It was very difficult to eat without getting your hands dirty. 4) waffle - nasty. The texture was like a cheap dense cake. Couple of the blueberries still have the stem. Service was subpar for a restaurant at this price point and the fact that they added 20% service in lieu of tips. I'm ok with that if they do provide good service. The staff was inattentive and doesn't even care. When a server asked if I needed a box for the waffle (we ate less than 1/5), I said "no, it wasn't that good". He said "oh" and walked away. The server who helped my party was so bubbly and lively. I scored a reservation on a Saturday night in advance, so I didn't have to wait in line. Def recommend getting reservations. They had a full house. The food was the best part. The menu looked great - I wanted to order more than I could handle! The oxtail was delicious. I thought it was interesting that they served it separately from the broth. It's hard to eat off the bone cleanly, so I took the remainder of it home to avoid looking like a carnivore in public lol. The ramen that came with it was delicious. I'm not a fan of carrots with ramen but they didn't bother me much. The spicy papaya salad was the best part of the meal imo. This was one of the restaurants I have been excited to dine at. I made reservations for 12 pm on Saturday through their yelp page. They only serve brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. There is a parking garage close by the restaurant on North Raymond Street. The first 90 minutes are free! The restaurant charges a 20% gratuity on your bill automatically, which I'm not a huge fan of. It took us some time to get seated because the hostess was on the phone. She apologized for the wait though. My boyfriend and I ordered the ube French toast, the loco moco, and a dragonfruit lychee lemonade. Plus, we got a side order of noodles with vegetables so we could try out their bone broth. Our friends got the Monte Cristo, waffle stack, and the matcha latte. Note: they charge extra if you want soymilk or oat milk, which they don't inform you on the menu. Also, our server didn't notify us that it would cost extra. One thing that peeved me off about this restaurant was the wait to get our food. It took 40 minutes to get our food. We were getting ansty because 2 tables seated after us got their food before us. The dragonfruit lychee lemonade was forgettable. It tasted like lychee syrup water. The ube French toast toast did not taste like ube at all. It was just plain French toast. The loco moco was delicious. The thick meat went well with the rice and sauce. The bone broth was warming. Plus, the noodle texture went well with the rich broth. I was able to try our friend's waffle stack. I felt their ube waffle tasted more like ube. Plus, the pandan waffle had a strong flavor of pandan in it. So get the waffles if you want flavor. When the server bought out our check, she informed us we didn't need to tip because a 20% tip was included. Oh gee, thanks for letting us know. Our service was unforgettable because our server didn't check up on us when our food was late. I did enjoy the food, but the 40 minute wait was unforgivable. My boyfriend and I went here a couple weekends ago after initially intending on going to another restaurant that treated us less than desirably at the door. When we walked into Bone and Kettle, the initial welcome was much more warm and desirable. Being that it was a bit earlier in the evening, they were able to get us a table. However, if you plan to go anytime after 5pm on a weekend, I would highly suggest making a reservation to avoid the wait. The ambiance was lovely, there was lights and trees thoughtfully placed throughout the restaurant. The waiter was friendly and attentive. We ordered a the Tuna & Beef Tartare and finished our meal with the Beef Sirloin 36 Hour Bone Broth. Everything was beautifully plated and a joy to our tastebuds. Even the cocktails were delectable. If you are looking to try Indonesian cuisine with a twist, I would highly recommend going here. I would also recommend getting several things and sharing so you can taste all the wonderful, well thought out dishes. read more

I always make a reservation in advance and park in one of the public parking garages (first 90 min free) when dining at Bone Kettle. I've eaten in the main part of their restaurant as well as in the back where there's a more open space with high ceilings and beautiful decor. Service here has always been good - they check in, are friendly, food comes out in reasonable amount of time, etc. I love trying their cocktails and my favorite menu items for dinner are the clams and donuts, oxtail dumplings, bone kettle noodles with an added bone marrow, and nasi goreng with pork belly. read more

Has a scrumptious dinner with good friends. We sat in their outdoor dining area. The weather was very warm that day but luckily it cooled somewhat for our 6:30 reservation. Went here for Sunday brunch with some old co-workers to catch up with one another. The ambience/environment is very elegant, staff is friendly. Food-wise, I only tried 2-3 dishes, and the Duck Confit with Pandan waffles was amazing! Great blend of salty and sweet. The oxtail hash was ok -- a bit on the saltier side for my taste, though it definitely lasted for 2-3 meals. The Krupuk chips made for a great appetizer while waiting. read more
