Lovely lovely food in a warm intimate setting. I came here once a long time ago and remembered a nice hearty comfort meal in a modern atmosphere. This most recent visit, I came with my dog & toddler so the outside patio was perfect. The continuous stream of car & bus traffic drone out any excess noise my rambunctious toddler made. We ordered just a few things but everything was so good. I took a chance on the green beans and they were not disappointing. Bold in soy flavor but had a sweetness I really liked. The rendang carbonara was a creative and tasty dish but purists like my husband maybe won't appreciate it as much. My toddler DEVOURED the bone broth & noodles, and especially the beef that literally melted in the mouth. That dish is a must have every time. Looking forward to our next dinner here.
Real pleasant surprise to see so many positive reviews on the atmosphere (dark, dimly lit, romantic to fall in love with your food) and the cuisine! I wasn't looking for an authentic experience, I wanted fusion and flavors. My friend and I share a birthday week so we came here to celebrate and feel like gluttons. Here's everything we had: - Lychee dragonfruit lemonade $6 - nice and sweet - Papaya salad $18 - against our first instincts to go with the Thai steak salad (Green papaya, mangoes, tomatoes, chili, cilantro, green beans, green onions, peanuts, Tobiko, shrimp, garlic chips.) Not that much spice, tbh, and very few shrimp. Still good. - Tartare $26 (Charred hanger Steak, pickled mustard greens, shallots, chives, yuzu aioli, sesame rice crackers) Realistically at this point, someone should have told us to slow down. Portions are not overtly generous but they're large enough to share. - Bone Marrow $29 (Ginger scallion confit, sesame oil, baguettes, red endives, baby frisee, apples, pears, citrus dressing) Insane value for this price. I feel like any other restaurant would give you a single bone and you're given three here. The salad and baguettes pair well. Ask for a to-go bag for the bones and use them for your own broth the next day. - Oxtail dumplings* $18 (Oxtail, mushrooms, leeks, sesame, sorrel, San Bai Su, chili oil) Hands down the winner of the night, for the oxtail sauce. A mix of plum sauce, plum wine, vinegar, and addiction. Don't let them take the sauce away from you. Add it to white rice, your soup, dab a bit on your neck to attract divine spirits, etc. - The ramen made with 36-hour bone broth $24 5 oz. of artisanal ramen noodles, heirloom carrots, red onions & cilantro. We added 7oz brisket beef (sous vide for 12 hours with garlic, butter & herbs). Add a soft-poached egg for $3 (thanks to a random server walking by who cracked that open for me) and some white rice for $3 - rice paired well with our leftover oxtail sauce. Bone Kettle adds a 20% gratuity "service charge" to each bill to take care of the tip. I wish I'd brought cash to give an additional tip because everyone was that great. They offered recommendations freely and were always spot-on. So attentive to refilling beverages, as well. You can't add a charged tip to your bill at all, unfortunately! I'm pretty sure those oxtail dumplings re-arranged some molecules in my brain. I'm still thinking about them. I can sort of taste them if I close my eyes and click my heels together three times.
We came here for a baby shower. I'm very impressed with the private room setting. It's a bright airy back room that allows a group of 30+ sitting comfortably. The open bar is great! The bar tenders were prompt and friendly. I love my lychee martini. It's a buffet style luncheon and we had a great variety of food: skewers, noodles, ox tail dumplings, cauliflowers, egg rolls and eggs. For the dessert station, delish French toast with blueberries and one with strawberries and cream. What a delightful place to host a small party. I will return ti try their regular menu.
Unique fusion restaurant. Menus change depending on if it's lunch time or dinner time. I wished there were clear details and explanations on the menu that said everything uses duck eggs. (I personally can't eat anything duck so the only thing I deliciously ate was the sourdough bread and butter.)
I've come here on 3 separate occasions, but have yet to leave my thoughts on this place on yelp! The first time I came was because of a planned date and the other two occasions were to meet up with a friend. Food: I always order the bone broth noodle soup every time I come because it's what they are known for. They say the broth simmers for 36hrs. The broth is pretty flavorful. The beef is pretty tender. It's good, but I feel like I have had better around the 626 area. The food is presented well! The bone marrow is pretty tasty! Drink: I've tried a lychee drink here. The drinks are okay. They are aesthetically pleasing for sure as shown in the photos. However, it isn't mind-blowing. Service: All the waiters and staff were kind and attentive. They refilled our waters and brought our food out in a timely manner. Parking: It's going to be paid street parking most likely. Overall: It's definitely a nice, upscale staple around the 626 area. They charge a 20% gratuity fee automatically. The inside feels very cozy and classy. There is also an outdoor dining area in the back of the restaurant. There wasn't anything too special about the food though, in my opinion. For the price, everything tasted fine. I would come back if another friend suggests to meet up here!
I got the chicken and top sirloin bone broth kettles, and the broth was sooo good and felt super healing. Both proteins were cooked well, tender and not tough or hard to chew. The inside is really nice and cozy, I liked how the seating along the wall had pillows. I also got the lumpia appetizer, and the sauce that comes with it is really good. One downside is that they automatically add a 20% gratuity. I didn't really appreciate that, especially since the service wasn't very attentive and they even spilled broth while pouring it into our bowls. I'm not a fan of restaurants shifting the responsibility of paying their staff onto customers.
Definitely had a lot of options in Pasadena but landed on this spot that serves 36 hour bone broth. The broth was so rich, so comforting. There was a good amount of noodles that were so bouncy. The beef was super tender. I needed to add the bone marrow, it was a little too much for me. Drawbacks of a solo diner is that there I can only order one main. Definitely highly recommend! I didn't have a reservation but was able to sit at the bar.
Walked in for 2 around 10:30 on Valentine's Day and was seated easily without resy outside! Service 5/5 The service was great and they checked up on us multiple times and gave me Thai chili when I asked for more spices. We ordered 2/5 -papaya salad: this was interesting, it tasted different than normal and felt like something was missing. I probably wouldn't order it again :/ - broth with brisket: this was honestly really disappointing. The bone broth didn't taste like anything special and the brisket was extremely dry to the point we didn't finish it. Not sure if we got a bad cut or if it was over cooked. -pistachio latte: this was great and not too sweet - vibe: the interior design is really pretty , and it looks like a great place to eat with friends or a date. However I probably wouldn't come back Service charge is 20% already included btw !
This place was recommended to me by a friend. I made easy reservations on Yelp and were seated quick once we got there. They didn't require the whole party to be seated which is a plus. The staff overall were great and the ambiance was dim and intimate. One gripe I had was that they offered still or bottled water, but wasn't given the tap option. My boyfriend, who was the only one at the restaurant, was clueless to this concept and said "still." At the end of the night, we were slapped with $7 a bottle on the bill. We had 4 bottles. I was so mad because he didn't know but they also didn't inform him that it was going to be $7 a bottle, otherwise he would have said no. I was wondering why no one ever came to fill our cups but now I know. It would have been nice if they were upfront about the cost. Granted most people who go to $$$ are aware of the cost but not cool to take advantage of the uninformed. Now to the food. I came with a large party so we all ordered a lot of different items and I was able to try a lot of them. -Ube Gnocchi $21 - This was sour for my liking. They were heavy on the lime and small in portion. I think the Gnocchi was well made but personally I would pass this. -Lechon $28 - this was HUGE but it should be for the price. The meat was tender and the flavors were nice. Good one to try. -Soto Betawi $32 - This was a interesting dish. It was a little heavy from the creaminess and oil. The short rib felt overcooked for me. It was hard and chewy. To try sure but I wouldn't order this again. -Rendang Carbonara $24 - This definitely felt like a classic pasta dish. I did enjoy the flavors on this one but again, I felt the short ribs were overcooked. If in the mood for noodles, I would recommend this one. I asked the rest of my party what they thought of the meal. It is a little pricier and we thought the food was just ok, nothing to write home about and probably wouldn't come again. Food presentation was great, ambiance is nice, staff were great, but food overall was average.
I ordered the following: Papaya Salad -- vibrant, well-balanced, great texture, and a generous portion that's easy to share between two people. Bone Marrow -- served with a small salad and sliced, toasted baguette; easily some of the best bone marrow I've had. Bone Kettle Noodles & Broth with Oxtail -- deeply flavorful, slow-cooked broth that didn't leave me thirsty afterward (a clear sign it was properly simmered for hours, not rushed). Jasmine tea and sparkling water Overall, the food was flavorful, thoughtfully presented, and the service was prompt. When I pointed out that my silverware was dirty, it was replaced immediately, and hot water refills were handled quickly as well. So why only three stars? This is one of those restaurants that applies an automatic 20% gratuity under the framing of "supporting the livelihoods of our staff." While the service itself would merit a tip at or above that level, I don't appreciate restaurants shifting responsibility for employee compensation onto customers. If staff wages are insufficient, that's an issue for management to address directly, not something diners should be guilt-tripped into subsidizing.
The staff stood out right away--they were so friendly and checked in multiple times to see if we had any questions, which made us feel really welcomed and taken care of. The food was overall good, with a solid variety of flavors and dishes to choose from. There's definitely more on the menu that I want to come back and try next time. It was a very relaxing restaurant. Looking forward to coming back and exploring more of what they have to offer!
Obsessed. The happy hour was such a treat and such a good deal. The Brussels sprouts were fantastic, the pomegranate seeds and the balsamic were a perfect pair. The chicken satay was surprisingly good - I normally don't get it because I haven't always loved it at restaurants but definitely made a great choice there. The ube gnocchi also packed some incredible taste especially if you like coconut. There were two stars of the show -- the oxtail dumplings which were a chef's kiss. Soooooooo good and the mushrooms soaked up the sauce. And of course the bone broth-- so rich and so flavorful!! The service was amazing. Everyone was so kind and made good recommendations!

Really nice vibes inside the restaurant. Perfect for date night or a girls night out. The bone broth was the best. Highly recommend. The nasi goreng was also delicious. Service was good but I think they might need a new system. Different servers came by asking us the exact same thing. I guess not one server is assigned to each table so they don't know who's asked what and doing what. read more
Gave this place another shot for my sister's birthday and wow I truly blame myself for the time I didn't enjoy dinner here because I didn't do a good job of ordering. We got: Sambal tuna poke - 5/5 my mother's favorite of the night and perfect for when you're dining outdoor on a hot night. Nice and cool poke with a spicy, but refreshing sauce Clams and donuts - 5/5 my sister's favorite of the night. Pro tip: remove the Chinese donut immediately out of the bowl if you don't want the bottom to get too soggy or leave it if you like that hahah. Broth was spicy and unique. My sister and dad soaked up all the remaining broth on the donuts, but said they could've easily drank it. I'm not a big fan of oysters so I didn't try it. Crispy rice salad - 5/5 not a salad at all lol, but a friend rice dish. The lime cuts through the pork belly so it also feels refreshing, but definitely more on the tart side due to the lime. Rice is nice and crispy. I have a medium low spice tolerance and found it to be spicy, but my family with higher spice tolerances would pair each bite with a Thai chili so somehow we could all eat it. Garlic prawns - 5/5 my favorite. Fried in buttery, garlicky goodness. You can eat the whole thing including the tail. I avoided the Fresno chili so it wasn't spicy for me at all meanwhile the rest of my family grabbed that between bites (I'm sure you're sending a theme ahah). For our main course we ordered one thing off the monthly specials menu: the drunken soba noodles. I'd say 4/5, the noodles have food flavor, but otherwise nothing too special. Don't get me wrong, I love how the noodles have the soaked up the flavor of the sauce they're cooked in, but overall, I think any place that does drunken noodles well will be on par with this. Dessert: Special birthday dessert that isn't on the menu: pandan crème brûlée which was also one of my favorites of the night. Loved their twist on crème brûlée and enjoyed every bite. 5/5 Chocolate-orange bread putting: will be Asian parent approved because my Indian mother immediately was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too sweet. My dad felt some bitter elements, but would just take some ice cream. My mom didn't and avoided the ice cream hahah. If you have a huge sweet tooth, take bites with ice cream. If you don't, you'll really enjoy this. 4/5 for me because there's a bread pudding dish I've had elsewhere I liked better, but 5/5 for my mom. My main qualm with this place the first time I reviewed it was the lack of non-beef options and some dishes being misses. My advice is you can opt for a meal of all appetizers and skip the main courses if none of them appeal and you'll be happy. And understand the food is more on the fusion side rather than traditional. There's other places you can go to for more traditional Indonesian food, but this place is its own experience. So embrace all the flavors, textures, and styles of Bone Kettle. Parking: there's several paid structures nearby. Wait: did reservations off Yelp. Asked for outdoor seating and got it. Be sure to mark if you're doing a birthday dinner AND tell your server. Service: good! Sometimes the waiters would get confused on which tables needed what, but it was a busy night. Nothing bad to report; our staff waiter was lovely. I'll definitely be back. read more

Came here for the first time with some friends on a Saturday for lunch. The restaurant gets packed, so I highly suggest to make reservations. Food: 5/5 *Most of us got the Bone Kettle Bone Broth & Noodles: Our signature 36 hr broth and noodles. Choose from Top Sirloin (21), Ginger seared chicken (19). Fatty Brisket (24), Braised Oxtail (38), Crispy Tempeh (18), vegetarian substitution available... I ended up getting the top sirloin. The sirloin was cooked a little more to my liking, but the broth and the egg made it all worth it! *We had friends that had the Chicken Katsu Sandwich and absolutely loved it! *I had the Passionfruit Mojito and it was perfect! The drink wasn't too sweet, very refreshing! Service/Ambiance: 5/5 *Staff was very attentive, quick and very nice! *The restaurant itself is a little small, however they do have outdoor seating as well. It's aiite. Service was really nice. Interior design was nice. Food was just ok especially for the high prices. We ordered the bone marrow for appetizers. It needed salt. Perhaps some Maldon salt. For our entrées, we ordered two Bone Broth noodles with top sirloin. Broth was whatever. Noodles were basic. Sirloin was dry. We definitely won't come back. Came for brunch! Their menu was so interesting so of course I had to give it a try. They're also dog-friendly and even have a dog menu!! And they brought us a water bowl! :) FLAVOR (4.3/5): 1. CHAI LATTE: I was debating between the Chai and Matcha Latte and they said their Chai Latte was really special so of course I had to order it! This might be the best chai I've ever had... it was so warm and comforting (you can also order it iced). Often times the spices in chai latte can be too sharp and not well balanced with the milk, but this was perfect. I did end up trying the Matcha Latte as well and I can confidently say if you like chai, order this one instead. 2. SPICY PAPAYA SALAD: The papaya salad was good, but a little too heavy-handed with the fermented fish taste, probably due to the caviar. 3. OXTAIL HASH: The oxtail hash was amazing - particularly the potatoes. They managed to strike that balance between a crispy exterior and a soft, fluffy inside. We got our eggs scrambled, but I think the runny yolk of a sunny side up would have been the cherry on top. 4. ISLAND RICE PLATE: The rice plate was good, but nothing special compared to the rest of Bone Kettle's menu. It's a classic Filipino breakfast - eggs, rice, spam, chicken, and longganisa. I think I would pass on this next time and opt for the Loco Moco instead. 5. UBE JAM FRENCH TOAST: The french toast is what caught my eye out of everything on the menu, and it didn't disappoint! So delicious and not too sweet. the toast itself wasn't dry at all either - very fluffy and the ube jam and syrup kept it moist. 6. MATCHA TIRAMISU: The matcha tiramisu was okay. It's shareable but definitely for around 4+ people with average appetites. I wish the ladyfingers were more moist / soaked through. They were slightly dry and the tiramisu had a cakey texture, rather than a spongey one. SERVICE (5/5): Service was great! AMBIENCE (5/5): Super cute spot; good for both casual and intimate occasions. Their outdoor patio is nice for brunch / good weather days, while the ambience of the interior is perfect for date night. PARKING (3/5): Street parking, although this area of Pasadena makes you download an app to pay for parking and they don't have free parking on Sundays. TAKEAWAYS: I enjoyed my time at Bone Kettle and would definitely come back. I want to try their other dishes, especially their dinner menu! read more

Great take on Asian fusion food! We came here for date night and the ambiance in the back area was just perfect. We ordered a pina colada for drinks and it was one of the best ones we've had. The Singaporean lobster pasta was very flavorful with a good spicy kick. The bone marrow with noodles and broth was a very good blend. Located in downtown Pasadena, street or structure parking, and a mix of indoor/outdoor seating. My friend and I came here for dinner and drinks back in July 2023, so it was fairly warm as we got seated in the back open air patio area. They had fans constantly blowing, but it was still WARM. The calamansi margaritas did help, though! We each got our own and then shared one; so citrusy and refreshing. For dinner I had the nasi goreng with bone marrow and my friend got the rendang carbonara. We left nothing on our plates, so it's safe to say both dishes were delicious. Overall, I really enjoy this restaurant. I appreciate the Filipino fusion drinks and dishes, the ambiance is modern and aesthetic, and the staff are all wonderful! read more

I've eaten both brunch and dinner here, and would love to go back for more. Their Southeast Asian fusion cuisine is as delicious as it is beautiful. My kids were thrilled with their ube and pandas waffles, while I dug into a delicious plate of Balinese chilaquiles. An absolutely amazing brunch! For dinner, we opted to order a variety of starters to share, because everything on the menu was so tempting, we couldn't commit to just one dish each. There was a great blend of standard dishes and seasonal specials-- our favorite was a savory Indonesian red curry dish with tender vegetables. My husband got the broth and noodles, which were so comforting and delicious. The ambiance of this restaurant is hip and modern- cozy, and not too loud. We were pleasantly surprised to get seated right away when we showed up on a Friday night without a reservation... I imagine this place is popular, so I'm not sure if that's always the case! They're still offering lovely outdoor dining (one of those makeshift patios from peak pandemic times - so great that it's still an option!). Looking forward to our next meal here for sure! read more
Came here for brunch at 10:30 on a Saturday. The restaurant is cute and clean. The service was attentive. We ordered the loco moco, fried chicken adobo sandwich, and POG French toast. Things were somewhat on the salty side but overall tasty. I enjoyed the matcha pistachio vanilla latte, asked for it with less sweetness and that was perfect. read more

We wanted to visit one restaurant for DineLA and decided on Bone Kettle, and boy, was it delish! Their food and alcoholic beverages were fantastic, and we couldn't get enough. Note: We were intrigued by their Dragonfruit Lychee but really wanted more alcohol in our system, so we opted to add shots of soju. PHENOMENAL. The restaurant itself was beautiful and the service was spectacular. Can't wait for the next visit. read more

I was super excited to check out this place as part of DineLA. We made a reservation but the place was busy and we got seated 20 min later. Also they told us that DineLA wasn't an option anymore which was a bummer and we were starving so leaving wasn't an option. We ordered the following GARLIC PRAWNS 21 Crispy whole prawns, chef's special garlic sauce, Thai basil, Fresno chili RENDANG CARBONARA 24 24hr braised short ribs, fried shallots, cilantro, parmesan cheese, Fresno chili, noodles, bacon, poached egg I forgot the name of the rest of the dishes. Drinks were on the sweeter side. Service: super slow. Overall, the food and service was okay. read more

(Overall: 95% | A) - Overall, the food was fantastic, the restaurant itself is very cute and cozy, and the service was good. Would recommend 5/5. (Fatty Brisket Bone Broth: 97.5% | A) - This is an elevated take on a home-style dish -- it reminds me of a chicken noodle soup, but elevated with a rich and complex soup broth. The fatty brisket adds a lot of flavor and works well and is a very comforting dish; would recommend. (Bone Marrow: 92.5% | A) - The bone marrow is rich and flavorful. I love the salad to provide some strong acidity to counter the fat and it was overall a very well thought out dish that could've maybe only used some additional bread. (Mandarin Sour: 102.5% | A+) - I love their cocktail menu as they have some really unique Asian twists on cocktails while maintaining an extremely reasonable price. Parking: plenty of free parking lots in the area or street parking Ambiance: soooo neat with tons of options. you can dine outside in the liveliness of Pasadena, right inside where it's a bit dimmed and trendy, near the middle with bright lights and high ceilings or closer to the back where it's cozy and intimate. it can feel like a different experience, each time! Service: phenomenal. everyone works as a team, communicates well and extremely attentive. they also gave us a free, beautiful champagne toast for our anniversary! Food: great, but I think i like being at the restaurant, more than the food LOL Oxtail Pho: 9/10 the oxtail was extremely tender and paired really well with the crispy (onions) around it. the noddles were medium chewy with a great tasting soup Oxtail dumplings: 6/10 this was verrry salty for me. i was really excited and hungry so still demolished it but my husband wasn't a fan Bone marrow: 7/10 they gave a larger amount than expected! it was so yummy with bread. my husband thought it lacked excitement so there was more for me to enjoy As many mentioned, its a wonderful date night spot. We headed to Bone Kettle for dinner on a Saturday evening. We started off by using Yelp! To make a reservation which let us get seated almost immediately. We were seated inside at a 2top and were greeted quickly and given the regular and specials menus. We ordered the marrow butter, the sisig, and the Wagyu Meatball beef broth. We also got the Calamansi refresher. The marrow butter was super garlicky and creamy and we both really enjoyed it. However I'm not sure how much of the flavor came from the actual marrow so reflecting on the choice, we regretted not just getting the marrow itself for a more pure flavor. Next, the sisig was flavorful had large chunks of meat which were a big plus. However, as a "small plate," the sisig didn't come with even a small scoop of rice so we had to order a side of rice to go with the sisig (and IMO, considering the price of the sisig -- we'd expect it to come with some rice even if that rice was 1/3 the size of the "side order of rice"). While it was yummy, let's also be honest because it would take work to ruin sisig... Last we had the bone broth with the wagyu meatballs. While the broth was very clean and tasty, I regret the meatballs because I bet one of the other options would have been better. Can't but help to feel the meatball form wasted/ruined the flavor of the Wagyu. At the end of the dinner, even though we both liked the food, it wasn't exactly 'amazing' and while I understand eating in a nice restaurant that uses quality ingredients isn't going to be cheap, the prices at Bone Kettle are already semi-high--so we just expected more from it (be it flavor, quantity or quality). Tack on top of their high prices the mandatory 20% gratuity that is automatically added to your bill if you dine in (regardless of the size of your party), and the meal just ends up being even more pricey. The lack of wow was already making us debating if we'd ever be back but the ridiculous 20% fee just ensure that if we do ever come back, we will not be dining in. (As an aside -- if the 20% requirement is to help it so that employees can make a living wage, then how come it cannot be tacked on to take out orders? If you're going to force people to pay an extra 20%, why not just raise the prices to compensate instead of passing the cost on in a shady way? In summary, the food at Bone Kettle is decent. The ambiance is nice and the service is good. However I've gotten equally tasty food and service at other restaurants with much lower price points and I've tipped 20% for great service when it wasn't mandatory but being forced leave such a horrible taste in our mouths despite the food. So i guess a tip would be that If u want to try Bone Kettle's food AND be in control of tipping; order your food to go and go back to tip in the amount you want if you feel they deserve. read more

Bone kettle is a cute restaurant in Pasadena. The decor is clean and service is good and fast. But the food is a bit overpriced for Asian fusion. The bone kettle soup was good but not stunning. read more
Came to celebrate a friend's birthday and it did not disappoint! WHAT WE ORDERED: - Steak tartare: solid tartare dish. I am also not the best judge of good tartare, but it tasted fine to me! - Spicy papaya salad + soft shell crab: not spicy whatsoever but it did provide a nice acidic flavor to our dinner. The crab was a little smaller than I expected, but also provided a nice crunch to the dish. - Garlic prawns: the table favorite!! I loved that the prawns were split in half and that the shells were also easy to eat with it. Everyone was able to get at least 2-3 prawns each (for a table of 4) - Bone Kettle Prime Top Sirloin: my mouth was a little confused eating this dish because the soup was the lightness/clearness of chicken based broth, but the prime top sirloin was heavier since it was beef. Not necessarily a miss, but it wasn't the most memorable dish of the night. - Nasi goreng + oxtail: solid rice dish with ample oxtail throughout the dish. - Passion fruit mojito: strong drink with a nice fruity touch! Made for a nice celebratory mood. We also really enjoyed the Pandan creme brulee that was brought out to celebrate the birthday girl. Helped made the night even more special than it already was. I would definitely come back for a celebration, but I was not the biggest fan of the 20% service charge...definitely makes me think twice before eating out. Bone Kettle is a beautiful restaurant with indoor & outdoor seating options. You can either sit outside at the front the restaurant, inside, or in their courtyard which is very nicely lit because of the skylights. My cousins and I went during brunch on a Sunday and it was surprisingly not busy. We sat in their courtyard which had AC which was perfect because it was hot outside. We ordered the Nutella Chocolate Banana Toast (7/10) and the Loco Moco (8/10). The toast was good, wish it was more toasty/crispy on the outside . The Loco Moco had good portions of the beef patty and rice, but I wish it was a little more savory. The food wasn't to spectacular or to die for, so it was decent. It wasn't much of an elevated Filipino cuisine I was expecting, but still good. The service was great! Our waitress was very welcoming and informed us when we would be expecting our food. This was a great place for our date night! Bone Kettle offers outdoor and indoor seating, and something in-between. Hubby and I sat in the "in-between" section which I highly recommend. This is a part of the restaurant which is toward the back and it looks like it was an outdoor courtyard at some point, then a nice window-like roof was added so there is plenty of natural lighting. This section isn't as noisy at the main part of the restaurant, which was nice because we could have a conversation without a lot of ambient noise. *Drinks & Appetizer: His-Mai Tai served in pineapple-shaped glass. Not overly sweet. The flavors were perfect. Hers-Calamansi margarita. Yummy and refreshing! The Tajin-dipped glass rim was a nice touch. Ours-Clams & donuts. DEEEELICIOUS! The donuts were savory and shaped like short churros, set in sinigang-like broth with small clams. When we were done with the bread & clams, I kept sipping on the broth because it was SO FLAVORFUL! *Entreès: His-Bone kettle broth with chicken Hers-Bone kettle broth with top sirloin The noodles were prepped perfectly. Think "al dente". The broth flavor was more subdued than our appetizer, but still tasty! *Dessert: The pineapple tarts reminded us of Filipino hopia. They a small pastries filled with pineapple jam and the perfect way to end our meal. The service was pretty good and I only say that because it took a while to receive our check. Other than that, our food was brought out in a timely manner and they came around with the water pitcher often. Each one of our servers was very friendly. *One thing to be aware of is that a 20% tip is automatically included in the bill...even for our small party of 2. (Saved us from doing math!) read more

Came here with a friend and we ordered way too much food (lol). I had always wanted to try this place and I'm so glad I did! We had the ube gnocchi, oxtail dumpling, mabo tofu fries, crispy rice salad, and garlic prawns. Really 3 dishes would have been enough, the portions were good! The fries were really mqw My favorite had to the the oxtail dumpling, so soft and full of so much flavor. The crispy rice I loved too, I'm not sure if it's authentic since this restaurant serves elevated Asian cuisine, but I'd love to try the real deal some day. The ube gnocchi was my least favorite because it seemed more Italian influenced than Asian and it was full of fruit. I'll definitely be back because I want to try the noodles next time. Parking is nice and easy in a structure on Raymond. You have to pay (like a couple bucks for the first two hours or something), but it's way cheaper than somewhere like DTLA. Makes for a nice time in Pasadena and you can do some shopping or go have dessert at Wanderlust or the gelato place nearby. read more
Fancy enough to impress a date or to eat "nicer" food, but without breaking the bank too much going into the big dollar sign category! Delicious Asian fusion food with great ambiance and atmosphere. The restaurant does tend to get packed here so if need be, make sure you get yourself on the waitlist! There's outdoor seating, bar seating, indoor seating and the restaurant goes in much deeper than I expected so I guess there is much more seating too. The bathroom is downstairs in their basement area and gives off the vibes of a really fancy hotel, smells super nice too. Also keep your eyes peeled for the random monkeys around the restaurant as well! For our dinner we got the: 1) Blue Lagoon Punch: -This is soursop, aloe, & curacao topped with a tropical flower for aesthetics. -It has a pretty gradient blue and purple color to it, but definitely mix it up or it'll taste like cough syrup lol. 2) POG: -Passionfruit, Orange, & Guava, can't go wrong with this classic tropical beverage. Refreshing, sweet, & yummy. 3) Sisig: -Served in a cute mini-skillet, it's a nice sizzling appetizer dish to share. -It's crispy pork belly with Thai chili, egg, chives, and bell peppers with some lime juice squirted on top, so it has a very refreshing citrus taste to it. -If you like the OG Filipino dish, you'll enjoy this one for sure. 4) Oxtail Dumplings: -ABSOLUTE MUST. Super delicious, some of the best dumplings I've ever had. -The exterior of the dumpling had the perfect slightly chewy texture without being too firm and the inside had extremely tender, melt in your mouth oxtail meat. There's mushroom in there too, but also very tender. -The dumplings come in this soup/sauce mixture that is made with leeks, sesame, sorrel, San Bai Su, and chili oil. It has a distinctly sour/tart & umami taste that isn't too overpowering. Goes great with the dumplings and even swell by itself. 5) Fatty Briskety Bone Broth Noodles: -Another MUST, especially if you've never been to Bone Kettle before since this is their signature dish. -For the Bone Broth noodles you have the option to choose whichever protein goes with your soup and noodles and we opted for the 7 oz brisket beef. -You can ask for a second bowl to share the soup and noodles as well. -Brisket was extremely tender as they state that it is cooked sous vide for 12 hours with garlic, butter, & herbs. -Broth is absolutely delicious, a nice light fresh taste that is very reminiscent of a bowl of pho but without any of the oiliness that I'm so accustomed too. You can tell that they filter their broth and boil it for a great length with onions, garlic, ginger, and dried spices. -The noodles are ramen noodles and I thought they were alright. Reminds me of the wider egg noodles. A bit soft, but it absorbed the taste of the broth nicely. -It also came with carrots, red onions, and cilantro. -During our dinner, the man himself in charge of the broth made sure that we never ran low and this was a huge plus! 6) Rendang Carbonara: -Unique Italian Asian fusion made with 24 hour braised shredded short ribs, fried shallots, chives, cilantro, parmesan cheese, bell peppers, noodles, bacon, and a poached egg. -Honestly, not that this dish is bad, but because everything else tasted so delicious, I though this one was just ok. If anything it just tasted like a delicious rendang dish, except with different noodles and some cheese. 8) Cassava Cake: -Perfect Asian dessert as the cassava cake isn't too sweet and goes great with the ube ice cream and the toasted pieces of spiced coconut sprinkled about and the drizzle of condensed milk and powdered sugar. -Really enjoyed this. 9) Deconstructed Black Sesame Cheesecake: -I just ordered this on a whim since I've never had a deconstructed cheesecake before and wanted to see what it was like. -It's as the name implies, deconstructed. -There's a light whip of black sesame cheesecake (very light and generous portion) and some graham cracker crumbs that they baked in house. You just scoop up some of the cheesecake whip and enjoy with with some crumbs. -There's also some candied oranges and flowers for decoration. Not bad. Service was attentive and courteous the entire night. Don't mind coming back here for some fancy eats in Pasadena and especially to sample their seasonal menu in the future as well. read more

Style over substance . Very overpriced. All the food that we got was one dimensional, i really expected more. We ordered a variety of things. The papaya salad was too salty and fishy. The Gule curry had no taste and they charged $12 Extra for 3 pcs of shrimp and $3 more to order it with white rice. The carbonara noodles were overcooked, and the dish was oily and again just bleh. Unfortunately, the best thing we ate were the crispy brussels sprouts and the oysters which were also just mid. The place is beautiful, and they present the food aesthetically. But i want my food to taste good not just look good. Also, they automatically charge for gratuity and we were only a group of 3! Insane.
