Love me a taste of NYC in Honolulu!!! I visited them opening week, and I think they still have some things to work out in terms of service but hopefully that will come in time. When I did come into contact with staff they were very friendly and helpful. I found a gorgeous Free People tunic top already on sale the week they opened - SCORE!!! It's nice to have a high end department store with a different flavor from Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus to add to the mix on Oahu! The bathroom though was terrible. Total downer. As a mom with 2 under 3, bathrooms are a HUGE deal. Step it up a notch, please, this is part of the luxury experience and it shouldn't seem like the public restroom in the shopping center. I would advise you not to go to Bloomingdales, unless you 1) like being ignored, or having to walk around employees who are standing in the middle of the walkway chatting 2) by some small chance know someone who has good customer service. There are a few good employees, a young lady in the Ted Baker department, Sally in the Kids department, and a few okay employees. But the rest have no customer service and no work ethic. Many look at you as if you're bothering them. Three times in one visit I had to literally walk AROUND the workers (and mannequins that they non-strategically placed in the middle of the narrow main aisles) who were busy chatting with one another about their daily lives. I almost wanted to say,"Excuse me," but my words probably wouldn't have ended there. Another thing that confirms that their store is not worth a two star rating is the fact that every time I have visited Bloomingdales (about 5 times), it has always been practically empty of customers. I am always the only one on the escalator, always the only person (or one of two) in whatever department I'm browsing in, and maybe one of ten customers on the floor. I was anxiously waiting for Bloomies to open for months and wasn't disappointed at all! :) (Warning: this turned out to be more of a review of a sales associate in the shoe dept than anything else) Tori in the shoe department is like a shoe-genius! I went in with the intentions of just looking (promised the other half I'd try at least!) and wound up enthralled with their selection and how helpful Tori was. Her recommendations were spot on and she even brought me a few other pairs of boots/booties to try that she thought I'd be interested in. My wallet was in some serious trouble haha. She was very personable and quick to strike up a conversation and in no time figured out exactly what I was looking for/interested in, price range, intended purposes and other general conversations. She pretty much made my day! It was also nice that they can ring you up wherever you're seated and don't need you to lug all your bags over to the cash wrap (or I may just be that lazy..). The first time I visisted was when they first opened, my sister and I browsed around. We got the feel that it was a more expensive Macy's, although they were less crowded than Macy's. Maybe my rating is biased because im not a big fan of shopping, but based on the time I spent in there...I think its valid. Since it is new and we wanted to check it out, we headed out there to see what it was all about. It does look very clean (of course because its still new) and bright. The items they carry are pricier than your average department store because the brands are higher end. But for the entire time that I walked through the store and with all the staff that they had on hand, not one staff member asked me for help or if I had any questions. Medium Brown Bag. Little Brown Bag. The bags you'll see when leaving this luxurious store! Three floors of shopping and excitement! I went in one day, telling myself, "I will come out with this medium brown bag!" But nope, I so did not and it's not because of how pricey they are but because of how unhelpful and inconsiderate their staff are! Maybe because I'm a "local" or because I don't look like I can afford these high ended brands. I don't know? I was in the bag section looking for Tory Burch. I asked an associate for assistance and she simply told me, "We don't carry that brand because you could get it at another department store. How about you try there?" I said okay. But I looked myself and I found the Tory Burch bags! No help at all from them. I actually found a bag I liked. After that, no one came to ask me if I needed help again so I left and ended up at the actual Tory Burch boutique and bought it there. On the bright side, they always have sale! I've only been to this place couple of times & I have to admit it is really beautiful inside, there is 3 floors. Even the bathroom is nice, lol. To me it's like Nordstrom & Macy's just a little more dazzle, lol. Finally a store that's modern and trendy. This is the first store that I've seen in Hawaii that somewhat resembles malls in Asia. It's a big step forward for Ala Moana Shopping Center and Hawaii. Bloomingdale's was smaller than I expected but it could be because of all the people that was there to check them out. With it being new and lively with music, it was a fun experience walking around and seeing what they have to offer. I loved their sunglasses section! Someone might have to get me a pair...hint hint! The store is 3 floors with many different brands and vendors. There is an escalator in the middle of the store that takes you to the different levels. If you're shopping for sunglasses here it'll probably take awhile to find someone that can help you. The 1st time I came to check out the sunglasses NO ONE came to help me. I tried coming back another day thinking I might actually buy a pair but again, NO ONE came to help me. I had to walk over to the jewelry department to ask the salesperson if there was someone available to help me and she then had to go find whoever was working the sunglass department. The girl that finally came to help me was really nice but after having waited so long just trying to find a salesperson my daughter was getting restless so I ended up not buying anything and just left. I went to the sneak preview before the grand opening yesterday. It was nice and busy for their dry run. I didn't see anybody actually buying anything though. All the associates were, of course, on their best behavior and very eager to say hello. Before I went to the store, I called customer service and asked if the sneak preview would be honoring the 25% holiday sale like they were online, and I was told they were; however, went I went to the store that day, the associate said they weren't doing the 25% because they weren't technically open yet, but she was nice enough to talk about the loyal rewards program. I saw a few things on the website that I liked before I went that wasn't physically in the store. The hapa girl that works in the Ted Baker men's section was very eager to say hello and was a little creepy in my opinion. Very nice, but I feel like she marched up towards me really fast like she was thirsty. The associate that worked in the men's clothing department to the left of Ted Baker men's section was pretty cool and natural with her greeting. The reason why I'm giving this four stars is because I can always get a better deal online. When I got home yesterday, I purchased 4 items on their website that included: 25% entire order + free shipping + no sales tax + 10% off using ebates. We were in need of some new bedding so went to Bloomingdales as we had previously seen the big selection they have there. We don't know much about bedding at all, but thankfully we found the salesperson Lori. She was so wonderful, helpful and nice - she walked us through the different brands, materials and helped us find everything we needed. One of the things we were looking for was a down comforter, and she even made sure we took different options out of the packaging to test them and make sure we chose the right product. We are so happy with our purchases - if it wasn't for Lori we may not have picked up anything at all. No need to shop anywhere else as they have so many Brands inside that saves you from walking the whole Mall. The "new smell" roams around the whole Store. From concrete floors to stainless steel bathroom doors, I can go on and on about what I like so much about this new Store. Came here tonight needing a dress for a wedding in two days. Living in the states, I'm used to Bloomingdales. But man, there's no beating a newly opened one. Everything about it seemed new and sparkly. The dressing room mirror had three different lighting levels depending on evening, office, or outside as well as adjusting the LEVEL of lighting. Wonderful experience shopping at Bloomingdales! I usually do all my shopping at Nordstrom but they didn't have a brand I've recently been SUPER into, Mara Hoffman. Lo and behold, Bloomingdales had their dresses. I went on Friday cuz King Kamehameha Day was being observed so no work *woot*. Not only did they have their dresses, they had them in-store and on SALE. 30% off regular price and an additional 25$ off $100! What a steal :) I basically walked away with two dresses for the price of one. Plus, a wonderful experience. The girl in the Equipment/Mara Hoffman section was so sweet and accommodating. I'm really sad I didn't get her name but she was amazing! The fitting rooms are also really cute and come with an IPad that helps you keep track of what you have in there and anything else in the store. There's a mood setting so you can see what you look like in different lighting. I think it's daytime, office and evening?? Looking around the other departments, they had a lot of brands and clothing selections. Since Nordstrom's selection has started to shrink, I've had to do the buy clothes/accessories online and return when it turns out to be disappointing in real life. Being able to try it on, feel the fabric, observe the quality before buying is great! All around, it was amazing and I'd happily go back there! Give Bloomingdales a chance! My friend/neighbor and I had the most wonderful luck while shopping for a collaborative wedding present for our mutual neighbors (the young couple that lives between us on the floor in our building). Lori Lopes was so helpful and astonishingly patient as we tried looked at almost everything in her department to narrow down our ideas for the one perfect present from the both of us (knowing a combined budget produced a nicer gift :) Lori was pleasant, professional, and dedicated in her desire to help us in our search/decision-making. What I love about Bloomingdale's is how reliable their warranty is. A few years ago I purchased luggage's from one of their LA stores then moved to Dubai and while there the zipper came loosed. Took the bag into the store show the issue and no questions were asked, they simply gave me a new bag I didn't even show them the receipt. You may pay a little more and at least is worth the cost in my experience. In regard to this store, came in here to look for a winter coat with my SO, and the staff was super friendly and not pushy at all. They took their time and show her coats they had and even telling us the story behind some of the brands. However, if your like me and only like a deal, if you look you can find them. For example I got two pairs of high top converse for 50$. Not a good place for kids! Too many breakable decor. But workers seem friendly. My 3 nieces between the ages 7-10 wanted to take a picture with an oddly dressed and decorated mannequin but one of them accidentally knocked down a part of it. She was so afraid the worker was going to tell at her but one of the perfume sales woman just helped us and sweetly said it was ok and not to worry about it. I'll admit bloomingdale's can be a hit or miss when it comes to service. I must come on the better days because I encountered yet another amazing SA. I was looking at belts for my dad(hint hint: father's day is two Sundays from now). I wasn't particularly dressed up, just a shirt and jeans as I just got off work. Anyway, Ricky was super friendly. He checked for other colors for the particular belt I was interested in, gave me box to make it more presentable and I got a free sample their famous yogurt. If you're in the men's department, go see Ricky. overall, I admit one or two awesome employees won't save them. But it's worth them giving a second chance. I went to Bloomingdale's today on my lunch hour to check out a ridiculously expensive bottle of Men's cologne I saw advertised in their fragrance flyer which was mailed to me over the weekend. I had a hard time locating the men's fragrance department as the store is not really arranged in any logical layout nor are there signs directing you to specific departments. All you see are brand name logos. I finally found the men's fragrance counter but was unable to locate the cologne I was looking for. It is the Creed brand and is $495 for a 3.3 oz bottle. I noticed two employees chatting to the side of me and neither one acknowledged my existence and kept on with their conversation. I circled the counter at least 3 times trying to locate the cologne, as they passionately kept on with their conversation. One of the most horrible customer service experiences ever, no wonder the store is always empty. I used work in retail and was a customer service specialist at a multi billion dollar corporation and I give this store two thumbs down!!! read more

I avoid Bloomingdales Ala Moana at all cost because 99% of the workers have zero customer service skill. The workers are happier talking to their colleagues while a customer browses an item right next to them and if you do get their attention, they are VERY unfriendly and/or have an attitude. When you walk into the department store, you never feel welcomed (zero aloha). Nobody asks if you need help. I always have to find a worker to help me. And even if I find a worker, it feels like I'm bothering them. I recently bought a small card holder from Chloe inside Bloomingdale's. I was browsing for awhile but nobody helped me. I had to go find a worker, who was very unfriendly. When I finally found a worker, he had a very condescending attitude (he was tall and probably European). I asked for a box for the card holder because it was going to be a gift. He sighed and walked away. He eventually came back with a small Bloomingdale's box for the Chloe card holder. I'm not sure why I didn't get a Chloe box for the card holder... Anyways, Bloomingdale's Ala Moana is seriously my least favorite department store on the island. I honestly despise going into the department store alone and spending any money at this location. It's like night and day when you compare the workers at Bloomingdale's to Nordstrom. This is the worst Bloomingdale's that I have had the displeasure of visiting. Although I am a "top of the list" member, the Ala Moana store can never process​ my black card correctly or complete my transactions in a timely manner. The sales associates try very hard to make the best out of a bad situation, but they seem to have terrible management who don't understand their client base. I have visited the store half a dozen times over the last 3 months and each time I leave, I am progressively more and more disappointed and even angry. Pre-sell and the loyalty programs are far too complicated, which consumes the fun of the purchase. For example, I recently bought two watches and I cannot wear them out the door because they are pre-sell, I have to wait a week. Then, a week later I get the watches only find out that they are unable to size a watches in store! Flat out embarrassing. I ended up going to another store that doesn't even sell the brand to pay additional money to size the bands. Furthermore, points programs require a lawyer to explain all the variations, benefits and the massive array of exclusions that one would not expect in any other store. The bottom line is that shopping at the Ala Moana Bloomingdale's is not a fun or pleasurable experience. It is frustrating, anger inducing, and unacceptable! read more

Was gonna buy a whole bunch of clothes but the older woman employee was not helpful and didn't even bother asking me if I wanted help which I did. My worst experience at Bloomingdales: The last time I went to Bloomingdales was during the Christmas holidays with my mom. When we brought the items to the cashier, the worker that helped us was very friendly, kind, and welcoming. She wore glasses and had long and curly gray-colored hair. We talked for a while and she seemed like a really nice person. It was actually the best service I had there. But, it became the last. Two days ago, I went shopping at Bloomingdales alone. As I was looking around I found a blue bottle in a box that I really liked so I held on to it in case I would buy it later. Not long after, the same lady that my mom and I met the last time when we were at the store came up to me. Her facial expression was filled with disgust and looked very unfriendly. Then she asked me, "Are you going to buy that now?" in a way that was like she's rushing and forcing me to buy it right now. I was kind of confused and shocked by how different she acted in front of me than the last time I was with her and my mom. Right after that she asked me, "Is it for a friend? You should get her a mini Bluetooth speaker. It's only $30." It was so obviously said that it was like I was poor and had no money. When she asked me that, she looked at my outfit as if I was wearing cheap clothes and it was like I didn't even have enough money to buy the bottle (which costed more than the $30 speaker). I had no mood to think about buying the bottle or anything else from the store so I told the lady that she can put the bottle back and I can look around more even though I wasn't going to. She was unbelievably rude and unprofessional, I was not happy at all. I don't plan to ever come back to Bloomingdales because of that worker. The first time I went to that store, the clothes I saw was very attracting and trendy. It was the kind of clothes young teenagers would love to have. But with that kind of person working at the store, it would not attract customers, especially young customers, but instead push them away. If salespeople with that behavior approaches customers like that, Bloomingdales will not receive good business. I discussed with my mom about the incident and I let her know that I am writing this review. I asked where flat irons were kept (if sold at all) and rather than pointing me in the direction of the product, she walked me to it and additionally helped find other products as well. I know that wasn't her main area of expertise, since she mentioned she's an aesthetician, but for her to go out of her way was above and beyond my expectations from former visits to the store. This store is brand new and beautiful but the services is terrible. My favorite jean store, 7 for all mankind, closed at Ala Moana. Since I wanted some new jeans I decided to check out Bloomingdales but it was a terrible shopping experience. My husband and I were there for 30-40 minutes and not one person came to help. I tried on 4 pairs of jeans and 3 tops. It would have been incredibly helpful to have someone help me with sizes and different styles. The place was empty so it's not like the employees were helping other customers. I saw 2 women who looked like they worked there just standing around talking to each other. The woman who checked me out never asked if anyone helped me, she didn't seem to care how my shopping experience was. I spent over $300 and it was an awful experience.
