I heart Bloomingdales! I know people think this place is too expensive, but cosmetics are the same price no matter where you go. So I say go to the place that will give you the best service + gwp + points. I came with a purpose, to hit Shiseido during their beauty event so I can qualify for the Bloomingdales beauty gwp (tote bag) + Shiseido GWP + I got a mailer for Free meal at Forty Carrots up to $100 for spending $50 in the month AND because I received a Bloomingdale's Beauty magazine in the mail found out if I came in a certain day and spent $100, I would get a $25 gift card. I came to the counter after work expecting tons of folks who like me would take advantage of the deals. But luckily only one person was being assisted. I was pressed for time and knew exactly what I wanted. When I spoke with the associate, Nicolle, she was patient with me- I was a little upset that one of the eye products was sold out. So in order to qualify for all the above I ended up getting one of the gift sets. She explained every set to me and we decided which would be the best. My two products qualified me for the Bloomingdales GWP + Sheiseido gwp + $25 rewards. yay! But I was another $25 from getting another $25 rewards. So I picked up a face wash. But then if I bought one more item I would qualify for another beauty bag and Shiseido gift. Fine. I think I made out! Thank you to Nicolle. I happily spent my hard earned $$$ at Bloomingdales and will be back. I walked away with 4 products for $270 and received $50 gift card, 2 Bloomingdales gwp, 2 Shiseido gap + extras, and took my mom to Forty Carrots and facials for me and mom scheduled for tomorrow! P.S. I've been following the regiment that was recommended by Nicolle and my mom says I've never looked better. Yay! P.P.S. Adrian the manager(?) is awesome! She made my mom and I feel extra special while we were waiting to eat at Forty Carrots in the green chairs next to the escalator. She stopped, asked us if we needed anything and then asked if she could bring us anything to drink. Brought us back a chilled Perrier and Fiji water. Wow, that is 5 star service. Oh Sears how I miss you with your cheap deals and your cheap deals! Lol. Haha, I know I shouldn't compare them and the fact that Bloomingdales took part of the old Sears location will have nothing to do with their review... So no worry! This is a very nice and pricey department store. Though you pretty much know that by the fact they are in the new ewa wing at ala moana and ummm it's Bloomingdales! If you are looking for a deal, I would suggest you stay clear. At least for men, shirts can cost around $70 and up and I saw a $1000 jacket! If you have that kind of money or you just want to see the layout of the store then would probably love this store! Of course I don't fault the store for their high prices, considering the rent and it's not like they are targeting customers like me (who are cheap, cheap, and did I say cheap?). Despite the price, I do suggest people check out this store (at least to satisfy any curiosity). It's an iconic name in retail. I have always been a little reluctant to even walk inside because most stores of their ilk have sales people who make me feel some kind of way. But not here. There was no evil eye or long noses pointed at me.I'll be honest... I was going to dinner with the girls at the restaurant next door and really needed to pee. Ala Moana Center is not a place I frequent often anymore, so I didn't want to get lost looking for one in the main mall. I have only good memories of my time browsing their immaculate racks and yes their bathroom sparkled. I was even very tempted to try on a few things. And would have if I wasn't in jeopardy of running late for dinner. So, until I go back to shop (after all this Covid-19 stuff is done) I just felt the need to give their sales people props for not judging me by my laid back clothes and low maintenance hair and make-up (aka tita bun and lip gloss). If you're looking for professional people to help you update your style or beauty products, without the stuck up attitude, I recommend giving Bloomingdale's in Ala Moana a shot. read more

And I oop - No wonder people feel uncomfortable walking into establishments like this, it's because of how terrible the customer service is. How does this place keep their lights on? I've never seen such a dirty, disorganized, neglected store that recently opened staffed by a handful of unmotivated and disgruntled staff. They either stalk you from place to place desperate to take your money and not even care to actually do their jobs or they can't be bothered to look up from cell phones or to stop fighting with each other in front of customers about who stole whose sale. It's obvious there is nobody in the building managing anything and the people up top just collect a check and let things run into the ground. Does anyone even monitor these reviews? I've never had a good experience here and won't be surprised when they go out of business. This is a recount of my disappointing experience at Bloomingdale's during the weekend of May 10, 2019. My husband and I went to Bloomingdale's at Ala Moana Center within the last hour of the store's opening. Our intent was to shop for sunglasses, since I was looking forward to purchasing polarized, preferably designer, sunglasses. I noticed a saleswoman in the sunglasses area, and was hoping she'd offer her assistance to let me try on a few pairs that caught my eye. However, in the full 10 minutes that my husband and I were there (he was shopping for himself as well), we were never approached by her. She made eye contact with us, and had her eyes on us while we were in the section. Not once did she greet us and ask what our shopping intent was. My husband and I don't indulge in purchases when customer experience is dismissive and inattentive, as this saleswoman's was, so we ended up shopping at Nordstrom. BEFORE my husband and I went to the sunglasses section, we stopped by the Ferragamo section, since my husband wanted to see the kind of belt I wanted. Five minutes passed before a young salesman rushed to where we were (as if he just realized we were there), and asked if we needed help. After we said that we were looking around but interested in the belts, I think he assumed that we didn't need assistance, because he left and never returned. I wanted him around to answer my question about whether or not the store has Ferragamo earrings, but he wasn't around. I'd assume that during weekend shifts, the best sales team would be on the floor. However, my husband and I experienced the opposite, so I'd like to encourage the Bloomingdale's team to be attentive to each customer, knowing her/his needs or interests upfront to give proper, timely assistance. read more

Went to use their bathroom to wash my hands because I was thinking of stopping by their restaurant and saw a roach where I'm guessing all the kitchen staff also wash their hands and use the toilet and I'm disgusted. If you see one roach there are hundreds crawling around that you *don't* see. I imagine this place is even nastier than what I noticed walking around. Typically I shop at Nordstrom. Because I had a gift card from a couple of years ago, I decided to use it on some makeup. The Chanel SA, Donna was very friendly and helpful. During the transaction, the gift card gave an error message. She tried a few times and decided it was best to call corporate. After a long and frustrating call with the parent company, Macy's, I found out that while our gift card had money, it had to be reactivated and would take over 2 weeks to process. Such a ridiculous policy! Donna was very apologetic and said she would hold onto my items in case I was able to resolve my issue sooner. I decided to check with the Concierge desk as a last ditch effort. Stella was super helpful and after speaking with a manager, was able to resolve my issue. With my problem solved, Donna was able to complete my purchase and even gave a few samples to try. Long story short, gift cards from Bloomingdales are sketchy but SA Donna and Concierge Stella are superb! read more

I rarely go to Bloomingdale's, but when I went to the jewelry department to inquire whether the store carried David Yurman jewelry, the salesperson was so busy doing something on her cell phone that it took a few seconds before she even noticed me. And even after she noticed me, it took a few more seconds for her to break away from her phone to help me. I also saw another salesperson nearby also preoccupied on his cell phone. To me, this is very poor customer service. Salespeople should not allowed to be on their personal cell phones while working as that becomes the focus over customers. This is my first yelp review. Today I was greeted by a salesperson as she was walking by me and not really looking at me. She didn't ask me if she could help me she just rushed by and said hello. I told her that I saw online that there is a 'Free People' black jean jacket in stock here and she told me 'we don't carry Free People'. She was very cocky and then told me that it could've been a return item and to check on the 'one of a kind rack'. She says I have to go across the floor near 'Theory'. Hawaii's first Bloomingdale's! Located at Ala Moana Center in the newly renovated Ewa Wing. Trust me, you cant miss this place. I would compare Bloomingdale's to something similar to Nordstrom. They carry a number of high end brands. They also have a small restaurant located on the third floor called Forty Carrots. This is also where you can find the famous Bloomingdale's yogurt. Overall I thought this new store was alright. I didn't end up buying anything during this visit (Happy Wallet). But I don't think I'll be so lucky the next time around. ;) read more

That's all we need here in Hawaii Nei, another high end Department Store that opens up and will be very busy probably up until the Christmas Season and then over time like all the other Department Stores will have more workers than customers actually shopping there. Bloomingdales is a beautifully designed Department Store that is on par with Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom but for the local clientele, it is nothing more than a grossly overpriced place that your normal t shirt and slipper wearing local could never ever afford unless you are working three jobs like some people are already are trying to make ends meet. The only pattern and consistency I see with the big three Department Stores here in Hawaii are their Flagship Restaurant's such as Mariposa,Nordstrom Cafe, and now Forty Carrots Restaurant run by Chef Job Matsubara, formerly of Stage,Azure, and just recently Japengo at the Hyatt Waikiki will always have a steady flow of local clientele. These are the only places you will see doing consistent business day in and day out because all the local ladies wanna act all high maka maka knowing these are the only places they can afford to spend their husbands hard working money at. But here at Forty Carrot's they have a forty five dollar Loco Moco that intrigues me. The only problem is that I have to find a job other than working at a fast food restaurant and find more homes I can deliver newspapers to early in the morning and find more customers who I can now their lawns for before I can sink my teeth into that forty five dollar Loco Moco that I can only dream about. Bloomingdales is a wonderful addition to an already crowded Shopping Center we call Ala Moana but once again, it's only a place where it's appealing to the eye and not a part of the average Kama'aina's spending budget. read more

I am so happy to be seeing and shopping with old friends. Atmosphere: Nice, clean and impressive! I love how the cosmetics area is set up - like each line is a "specialty". Also love that this store offers some product lines that others do not. Having separate spa rooms (yes...multiple rooms!!) is a very nice touch! Customer service: Familiar faces and friends make it comfortable and friendly. Quality of merchandise: Nice selections. Friends and family day overall impression - very happy that my friends are so excited to be working there! Gotta love the discount & point system. I already got $50 back! The negative - when you open a card today, you get a towel and candy. Only 1 salesperson knew about it, but didn't know where to get it! We walked up and down THREE TIMES!! We FINALLY found one person who had the towels, but she was busy ringing up these other people. Concierge didn't even know what to do!!! At 1245, we finally got someone who helped us!! Thus, I took a star away. C'mon Bloomie's...communicate to your staff!! I forgot to mention... While we were waiting for our towels and boxes of candies, this woman (who was going up the escalator) YELLED to the woman who was helping us, "Make sure they have cards! Bloomingdales Reading past reviews it seems like Bloomingdales is trying to correct the nonexistent sales people issue. Today Bloomingdales was a bit empty but moderately busy for them. (It's mid-afternoon on a sunny February day after yesterday's chill and downpour.) I had like six people ask me if I needed anything and two seemed like they were radio-ed over to me. I am dressed average in slippers but also a work cardigan. To be honest I was intimidated by the attention and just wanted to shop the cheapest sale section in peace. I was carrying a water bottle with some tea in it and I wondered if they were freaked out by it or something. The friendliest person there didn't speak much English; she was probably a Korean college student seasonal hire. She told me when then next sale was and I thought that was nice of her. Bloomingdales has a number of great brands. Some are repeats of other standalone stores we have here at Ala Moana but others seem unique to the store, like Chloe's. It's a nice enough place to see everything at once if entering the actual stand alone stores is intimidating for you but you will probably feel pressured at some point if it looks like you are "just browsing." As far as the makeup counters go I think this is a nice place to go if the other makeup stores don't carry everything you want. I have found a Nars blush at Bloomingdales which wasn't available at Sephora for example. There is also a MAC counter which was a bit of a surprise. There does seem to be a very good range of perfumes here too. I like being left alone, and I wish that the Bloomingdales employees would see I don't have that kinda money and shove off, but to be fair it is likely now their policy to be engaging which is kinda a bummer, but probably good for the future customers to come. If you do have a clear intent about what you're getting (I didn't find anything) then I think you will find the customer assistance helpful, because I kinda got grilled. They smiled about it but I honestly felt the questions were probing. Again they are probably just trying to address their poor Yelp reviews but well, not my cup of tea. I wish I could be like you other reviewers and say "Bloomingdales--you lost another customer!" but in my case they would lose only like $12 so it wouldn't be satisfying. But to everyone else there's an extra 30% off sale on February 5th-6th. As a side note if you're like me and you like checking out high quality stuff but don't like to be in a commission-based atmosphere then I suggest checking out Nordstrom Rack which is around near Ward Village. It's not that far away. There is also one next to the International Marketplace in Waikiki. The employees at these locations don't wait on you at all but to me that's a positive. Overall I will give Bloomingdales a 3/5 for my experience as a non-target customer but for someone of higher class (ouch) I bet your experience will be more satisfactory. I never do this but I felt something needed to be said about this location. My family has shopped here for years and we love how beautiful the store is and all the fun local markets they host! I remember the old general manager (Adriah?) was always so kind and gracious. She would remember my name and my kids. I have noticed over time a change in the store, the feeling of aloha is gone, it looks like there is construction always happening and the product choices has lessened. A few of my girlfriends ask me to come to their store fashion events but they always seem disappointed so I had never gone. I recently went to an event that left me speechless since their new general manager who seems so disconnected from the team and does not seem to fit in. Very sad because my family loved chatting with the previous team but now there is no personal connection and everything is disorganized and not appealing for us locals. Bring back that feeling of aloha and stop trying to appeal to the wealthy who just laugh behind your back. I truly hope something can be done with this location that can save it from worsening. My arm had to be twisted for me to come here. My youngest was dying to get into this place. Maybe because I have frequented Bloomingdale's on the mainland, so it wasn't like that big of a deal for me. But it was to her, so I let her drag me in. Bloomingdale's is located in the new Ewa Wing of Ala Moana Center. There is so much parking available in the structures around the new wing. There are entrances on each floor. The elevators are in the middle of the store. The store set up is similar to other Bloomingdale's. First floor is makeup and accessories. Second floor is women's clothing, children's clothing, suitcases. The third floor has housewares and Forty Carrots (cafe). The store is brand new and has that new smell. We were greeted and welcomed at the sections we visited. Customer service for Bloomingdale's is a top priority, so I love it! We did make purchases while browsing. I am always looking for casual shoes, so I decided to go take a look. Jeff in the shoe section greeted us and helped me with my purchase. In the children's section, Munchkin bought herself a Little Brown Bear that was packed carefully into a Medium Brown Bag. When my child thanked the clerk for the careful packing, the associate gave her a Little Brown bag for the Little Brown Bear to carry around. WOW! The service was excellent on all floors. The prices are comparable to other high end department stores. The store set up makes it easy to navigate. If I find the need to, I WILL be back! read more

#AlohaBloomies This is the first Bloomingdales to open in Hawaii. It's the anchor in the new Ewa wing. This new store is beautifully laid out and designed. There are nice touches of Aloha and Hawaii throughout the store. You had me at Aloha. HI (insert a heart) NY. The service here is meh, not as great as I would have expected. When I walked around after the opening weekend crowds died down, there were tons of workers chatting amongst each other but many didn't even greet me or ask if I needed assistance. One sales associate did help me with a purchase and she did her job but wasn't very friendly or warm. I asked another sales associate a question and she hurriedly said she didn't know and walked away. Maybe because I wasn't a Japanese tourist or dressed super well, who knows. It is a high end brand that I would say is in between Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus... leaning more towards Neiman. The store has a luxurious and rich feel. Although beautiful, I didn't feel super comfortable walking around since I don't shop top designer brands often and most of their items here are primarily luxury goods and on the high end side. I do enjoy some brands that they do carry here like Free People, Kate Spade, Ted Baker, etc. They are known for their little (fill in the blank with cup, bag, cookie, etc) concept line which are their brand items such as tote bags, notebooks, cookies. These items are reasonably priced and iconic. You can find them throughout the store. They have a nice sized men's section and home section as well. And of course tons of things for women: handbags, clothing, makeup, jewelry, etc. The bathrooms are hidden and there's not a bathroom located on each floor...women go to first or second floor. Their famous yogurt can be found on the third floor in their Forty Carrots restaurant which I did enjoy (see my review). It's definitely worth checking out since it's the first store here. read more

Had way better service at the L.A. store. Came here a couple of times and the sales associates were just kinda huddled together talking. A few would look up, look at the people in their dept. and go back to talking. Anyway that's not what my review is based off of. Got stuck with some rude ass salesperson who was ringing up my purse. Asked for a gift box, "we don't have boxes". WTF? even Sears has giftboxes. Asked her to take off the price tag to which she said "fine". Well ok Miss. She also gave my little one a card so she can picked up an ice cream from forty carrots. The second time i went there i made another purchase and she gifted my lil one a teddy bear. Train wreck. That's generally what I think of when I think of this Bloomingdale's department store. Regardless of the current situation with Covid this store was dead from the beginning. It's over cluttered. On organized. A hot mess on every floor. Zero staff. If you're lucky to find the staff working there. I sometimes shop on the top floor from my boyfriend's clothes. There is literally no one working up there. All the brands are tragic. The only decent high-end brand is The Kooples. Never an employee working in this area. I've asked a passing associate for a size and he just said oh we don't have it. He didn't even look and I know he's nothing knowledgeable. Every other brand in the store I can buy in the mall. What's the point? Let's not even talk about their "restaurant". Overpriced and horrible quality food. You're better off at McDonald's read more

They will not credit until their warehouse receives it. And it's till in transit. Called customer service Rachel A. I had a wonderful experience at the opening today! The service was exceptional (which I was a little worried about because it was the first day) and the store is beautiful. Everything is so shiny and glamorous, you just can't help but love it. I shopped at the women's brands Sandro and Maje with Eunji and she was so sweet! She figured out my style and pulled some pieces for me with ease. She even had some stylists do my hair in a pretty French braid updo that complemented what I was trying on. #AlohaBloomies ... The bae and I checked out the newly opened Bloomingdale's on Friday, Nov. the 13th a day after it opened. After walking around and checking out all three levels of the store, we have officially came to the conclusion that it is unofficially the most high-end store in the Ala Moana Shopping Center. Location It is conveniently located on the newly opened and renovated "Ewa Wing" of the Ala Moana Shopping Center. You cannot really miss it if you are traveling from mauka (mountain) side or makai (ocean) side because there will be signs all pointing to Bloomngdale's ! You can even enter from the newly renovated underground / garage / basement parking from the bottom level floor. There are several entrances 1) has an inside escalator 2) has an elevator 3) has an outside escalator . Again, you cannot really miss it. #AlohaBloomies There are three levels to Bloomingdale's all containing different departments such as women's, kid's, men's, accessories like sunglasses/bags/etc., household/houseware stuff like kitchen stuff/bed stuff/etc., food (which I think is on the third level) where you have they have yogurt (prior to opening they had a yogurt truck that gave away free FROYO in anticipation to Bloomingdale's grand opening!), and a whole lot more. It was quite overwhelming for me because everything from the interior design to the mannequins was just so high-end with so much sophistication and luxury. Even more me as a simple local guy looking at the men's section was kinda overwhelming. Blooming Aloha As you go through the store, there will be a lot of very whole known and high-end kind of brands like stuff from the Kardashians for women and stuff from Tommy Hilfiger for the men. In regards to price, you just better have some money. We saw several promotional and "sales" items such as "Everything at least $50" or "Everything at least $100." We were like WOW... key words again "at least" "$50" "$100" Anyways, customer service seems like it is pretty good. There were a lot of workers that greet you and ask if you need help and stuff. In regards to high-end, even the fitting rooms are pretty high-end! They have like a nice table and chair area where I guess you can chill and hangout that is pretty much located on all of the levels. The restrooms seem pretty high-end too! I went into the men's restroom and the baby changing area has some leather padding! Cray! Overall, that is just my "real people, real review" about this place coming from my perspective. Not sure if I will realistically have enough $$$ to purchase an authentically Bloomingdale's item here but in the meantime it is nice to cruise and look around. It's almost like "Aloha Fantasy" meets "New York swag" coming into here. I was looking for a formal gown and I couldn't find anyone to help me. Actually a couple of employees walked by and I know my face looked like I needed help. I was just about to ask them a question but too late, they were gone and ignored me. I didn't see any dresses that appealed to me. I walked around the store some more wondering if there was another section with more formal gowns or employees that I could talk to. Basically one whole wing had zero employees in the formal dept area. They should also have a directory at the escalators that tells you what is on each floor because I don't like to walk around for nothing and waste my time. I finally found some employees and they were all busy socializing at the cash register by the Juniors dept. and I finally interrupted them to ask if there was Formal Wear anywhere else and they said no. This store don't give a damn about anyone who walks in. Took me 20 minutes to find someone. When I did, they didn't ask any questions. And I had to follow them to talk to them. Then I find they do not accept online returns and the manager doesn't even know his own product. If he looked at the other product it's the same. Waste of time shopping here and nobody knows their product. Kind of just a bunch of zombies working there. read more

Strange to say, I've never really spent any time in Bloomingdales but I was interested in MAC... but the pro store by Sephora was chaotic and even the Macy's one is too stressful. This one was wonderful. I was assisted by a girl named Macy (too!) who really knew her stuff and more importantly was SO helpful. I thought I knew the line pretty well but she was very well versed on the new products and other products that I've never even heard of. She had time to give me a cool smoky eye look too. I was able to have a very enjoyable shopping experience and was happy with all of my purchases and purchased way more than I had intended to. I'm hesitant to let everyone know about this gem because it will soon be as crazy busy as their pro shop but I had to give my SA Macy some kudos/acknowledgement for a great job of customer service. While we were chatting I told her that I've recently invested in and loved Amore Pacific skin care and she immediately told me to check out the back of the store at Aritaum. It's their Korean skin care area. The beauty advisory (Young Lee) was another great find who said that once I was done with what I had purchased to talk to him to see what Amore's sister companies (Iote and Sulwhasoo) had to offer that were similar but at a much better price point. He also convinced me to attend the beauty event coming up this Sat and after reading the review below of another person who loved the event, I'm really looking forward to it. I ended up buying some items 'presale'. All in all, I'm so happy with my first real first shopping experience here. Sure it's big and rather intimidating but now it will be a part of my regular mall circuit!!! I will definitely come here first if I'm going to buy anything that I can get at Sephora because the people are super helpful and the environment is so less stressful. If you have specific questions regarding a product or a beauty line OR just want good advice from someone who has time and knowledge.... check out the beauty counters at Bloomingdales. This review is specifically for the person who helped my friends and I with our dress shopping for our wedding!! Angela (I assume that's her name) was so helpful and patient with us! While my maid of honor and bridesmaid were trying on dresses, she let us talk about our options. She didnt rush us, helped us with our options. I love the fact that she didnt try to force anything on us, like how some people can do sometimes. As my girls and I were talking about the dresses and their prices, she mentioned something about a presale.. she told us to pick out the dresses that my girls liked and she would show us the prices. We were so surprised that the dresses we got (originally $180+) came down to last than $65 for each dress! I am so happy that Angela was there to make our experience the best experience we had in this store. read more

When I used to read the Baby-sitters Club, I understood that Stacey McGill was a fashionista. I understood that she had fabulous clothing and shopped at Bloomingdales and that her daddy had some money and she could buy fancy brands the others could not afford. BUT. But. It was not until I walked into the doors of Bloomingdales that I fully grasped how fricken' loaded her daddy must have been. LOADED. I only walked into the doors because I was lured by a $150 off of $500 coupon that showed up in my mailbox. I did not realize I could use the entirety of that coupon to buy half a dress. Okay, I could have bought a whole sundress. Barely. Or maybe even up to three t-shirts, but I didn't realize how high-end this department store is. And that is completely my own fault as my only exposure to Bloomingdales was the Baby-Sitters Club. Which is a children's book. I am neither ashamed nor proud of that. And maybe there are things I would like to purchase there, but after looking at the wispy sundress that seemed worth $25 but would probably be $150 but was actually $475, I left. Three stars because it's not Bloomingdale's fault that I am not rich and I also like their table decorations. read more

I shop at Neiman Marcus a lot for my 3 year old daughter and always see Lenny or Wanda. Bloomingdales always sends me really good specials in the mail but for some reason I just never seemed interested in going. Anyways, my in-laws decided to treat us to Forty Carrots and since we were there I decided to take a look around the children's department. My daughter loves Mini Melissa's and so I was trying to find her size in the new Jason Wu style. There was a female standing at the register and did not greet us or offer to help like how other high end department stores would. I mean, they make commission right? She did however look up when she saw me going back and forth about 5x trying to look for different styles and with the correct size but went right back to wrapping something? I've never received bad customer service from neiman Marcus or Nordstrom. Bloomingdales is by far the worst. I walked out empty handed. Never going back. read more

Very Expensive but the service is unreal! If anything you have to eat here at 40 Carrots! The bathrooms ares so clean and super private. If you go there you will see what I mean. The people are really nice and not stuffy. Try it... We can dream too... Aloha read more
