Call me crazy, but I already knew what stroller I wanted before I even thought about starting a family because I just dream like that okay? So since I found out I was pregnant, I got so excited just thinking about all the baby gear that we would need/get. And with that, I have been spending a lot of time at Nordstrom buying, returning, reviewing, thinking, etc. which means I have interacted with a plethora of their staff in the BABY DEPARTMENT. I forget their names, but I added a photo to my review with all the employees that I've had an amazing interaction with. But, there was one employee who I had NO INTERACTION with, and you would think "why am I talking about her?" Well it's because I really needed to speak to an employee this one evening since I had questions about the next carseat we should get. It was a week night, my husband and I were walking around, we didn't have our son, and we were the only customers in the whole baby section. I saw this one employee walking around the area, and she didn't acknowledge me, not even once. I know I probably sound like a Karen, but I couldn't get her attention either! And we did get within five feet of each other a handful of time, so I don't know if she was ignoring me or didn't hear me, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. But overall, very happy with the service in the baby department, they're the reason I keep going back. Also, shoutout to JEN THE INTERIM MANAGER. I know she's the interim manager because she identified herself on a phone call to customer service. I went in today because I couldn't find where the funds for my return went and I really appreciate that Jen made me feel seen and that my concerns were heard. She did an amazing job at following up with me and really gave great service. I had a very disappointing and honestly hurtful experience at the Nordstrom store in Ala Moana. My uncle passed away two weeks ago, and before he died, he gave me a Tommy Bahama shirt as a gift. The shirt is brand new with tags, but it's too big and not my style. I came in simply asking for store credit or an exchange so I could purchase something else--NOT a refund. Despite explaining the situation, I was refused help completely. The associate in jewelry wouldn't assist, and when I asked for a manager, "Josh" came over already seeming dismissive. There was no effort to help, no attempt to verify the item (even though the exact shirt is currently sold in-store), and no empathy whatsoever. What made it worse was how I was treated. The tone felt cold and dismissive, and I left feeling embarrassed and honestly singled out. I've personally seen other customers receive store credit without receipts, so the inconsistency was hard to ignore. Nordstrom has a reputation for great customer service, but that was not my experience at all. This wasn't just about a return--it was about a meaningful gift from someone I just lost. We went here to purchase some sandals for my son, and the employee working named Rommel was so wonderful! I told them what we were searching for and he brought us a couple of options to try - and since my son is two years old with the attention span of a toddler he was so kind and brought us a balloon! My son was having a blast wearing his new shoes and trying them on around the store with his balloon! I really appreciate him going out of his way to help us and to just make our experience fun for my child. If a manager reads this I would hope that Rommel is recognized and rewarded somehow for excellent customer service - because there's some places out there with really crappy employees that make it so you never want to return, but because of his effort and kindness I can give a very nice review and also he helped make the Nordstrom store money by us purchasing from there. I spotted some On Clouds and the sales rep mentioned the sale was for Nordstrom card holders only,but tomorrow the sale would be open to everyone. I came back the next day and was helped by Kobe. Located at Ala Moana Center (the largest outdoor mall in the world), Nordstrom has three levels of treasure-hunting. There are also dining options such as Habitant (bar) and Ruscello (restaurant). Janna was the most helpful employee I've encountered! Out of my 9 visits to this store, she really went out of her way to be friendly and helpful! She greeted me right away, and when I made my purchase, she got a box, tissue, and ribbon so I could present my gift appropriately! Thank you! I decided to use my gift card on a friend's birthday gift. I wanted something to mail to the mainland... something "Hawaiian", but not so touristy. I found a waterproof packing pouch. Nordy's is known for two things: shoes and customer service. I'm not a shoe gal so I can't speak on that. But when it comes to customer satisfaction, I can attest that it's the best. I've waltzed in after work trying on gowns for a last minute gala event, and they will make the necessary alterations for pickup the next day. I'm not saying you should push your deadlines to the limit, but that seals the deal for me as a loyal client. Josie and Tenniel were amazing. They helped me into my dress, gave me extra shoes to use, and I was out in 15 minutes. Parking is great at Ala Moana. Pickup for alterations is 1st floor at Customer Service. This review is specifically for the cosmetics/skincare department. I was shopping in the Lancome aisle looking for a refill of my regular serum. Two sales associates were standing in the aisle, talking and laughing amongst each other, and after I spent a few minutes trying to look for it right in front of them, not once did they ask if I needed help. Finally I interrupted their chatter and asked if they could help me find the serum. In a condescending way she said, "Aww you look like you're in high school!" and laughed in a patronizing way without helping me, and then went to ask another customer if they needed help! Lady, I am 40 YEARS OLD. Maybe it's because I use the skincare products that I'm trying to purchase from you is why I look so young?! I was so put off by her unwillingness to help me (because she thought I was some sad poor teenager), I ended up buying it directly from Lancome and lo and behold they happened to be having a sitewide sale so I stocked up and saved more than I would've at Nordstrom. I agree with other shoppers that their baby department is 10/10 and normally I have great experiences at Nordstrom but I definitely will not be buying my skincare or cosmetics there again. read more

Nothing like Nordstrom... We are lucky to have several department stores here in Ala Moana Center as many have their own personal favorites and when I'm looking for something specific it's usually here at Nordstrom. There are three levels here and this building is like its own complex with everything and everyone for the household can be found here along with Gelato located on the Mall level or Nordstrom first floor, and on the second level are Ebar serving up crafted drinks, and treats with grab and go items and Habitant a bar/lounge right in the midst of the store and the third level accessible only within the store is Ruscello their restaurant which has a outdoor patio which has a slight ocean view. What I do love about Nordstrom is there way of keeping things different like currently having Disney 100 merchandise which was a delight to see as there isn't any Disney Store in the US making it difficult to find such items here on the islands among other items that I only shop here are some skin care items and certain personal accessories. The service here is always on point and will take care or find what you need and if possible will order and ship it to you directly, and if there are sales they will notify you personally by mail so that you're always in the know, shopping here is a real treat. Shopping for baby stuff? THIS is the dream team. I had the most amazing customer service experience at Nordstrom Ala Moana in the baby gear department thanks to Karl! I live on a different island and desperately needed help choosing the perfect stroller and car seat for my baby girl, with some very specific requirements, including something I could maneuver easily with severe arthritis and other physical limitations. This wasn't just a cut-and-dry sale! Since I couldn't see the car seats and strollers in person, Karl went above and beyond working with his coworkers to make detailed videos showing me how each option worked based on my needs and concerns. He was kind, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable, and he helped me find exactly what I needed for my baby. You can tell Karl and his coworkers genuinely love their jobs. They even have an awesome Instagram page full of helpful videos and humor - it's so fun to watch, and you can see how much pride they take in what they sell and the service they provide. That same pride shines through in the way Karl treats his customers. The baby gear department at this Nordstrom is truly outstanding. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about what they do. Just realized when I wrote my last review it was based on shopping in their formal gowns section as we were looking for dresses for my wedding... now in this stage of life I have to give a huge props to their kid/baby section! I just LOVE how Nordstrom brings in local designers' products. This is the perfect place to pick up baby shower/birthday gifts as the selection is AWESOME! Our favorites is Coco Moon & Kaleimamo. You see their products online/social media but it's great to have a place that we can actually touch/feel and makes it easy for returns/gifts for the recipient. Their baby gear section is also very IMPRESSIVE. They have so many strollers, car seats, etc and the staff are always very friendly and helps you with all your questions. Also, keep an eye out for in-store events as they have these often and it's a great time to get deals on specific brands, or just visit during an event as they bring in other local vendors. They even have classes on how to tie shoelaces for the kiddos -- LOVE! read more

It's always a hit or miss whenever we go to Nordstrom's. I tried on couple outfits for my daughter's wedding. I decided on a dress and took it to the cashier. It's not a $1000 dress but it wasn't $50 either. The lack of care of folding the dress into a ball and shoving it into a bag was unbelievable. I felt like I was at target or Walmart. The store associates were really sweet in finding a right shoe for the right person. The shoe is suppose to rest your big toe out 3/4ths of the way, therefore we found out that we needed size 11 and a half's rather than 12s, and we would not have done that without the amazing customer service. Shopped at Nordstrom today on a whim after running some errands. Initially came here because my mom kept mentioning these Tory Burch sandals she wanted to get. We were helped by TRAVIS who was really pleasant with us and even acknowledged my 4 year old who was just high on "no nap" energy. My mom purchased a pair and even signed up for the Nordstrom credit card which travis informed us of the benefits. After the transaction we ended up browsing some more and I found a pair of Torys for me and another two pairs for my mom. Last summer I purchased a pair of Bose wireless earbuds which got damaged, I thought it was water/sweat proof. Went online to see if the store has them for sale, it's online but I wanted to get mine replaced ASAP. Made my way back to Nordy's to discover they don't have it in stock. I asked the first available associate and was told that all of their inventory is on the sales floor. Ended up ordering them online and it arrived a few days later using the free shipping feature. Nevertheless, I love shopping at Nordstrom, I love eating at Rucello's, love the wide variety of merchandise which can easily be transferred from another store should Ala Moana not carry it, exceptional customer service which Nordstrom prides themselves. This review is in regards to their bar on the 2nd floor I believe on the women's level. The service is excellent. The bartenders are always attentive. The drinks are great. The price is a bit on the high side but that's expected at Nordstrom. He was very patient and allowed us to go around the selection to smell everything they had. When we shop we love and prefer to go our own pace instead of somebody giving us random opinions. When he knew our preference he recommended different colognes and allowed us to compare different brands on our own. He would only pop in when we get indecisive between two colognes. Stopped by to pick up my alterations. I try to make use of my free alterations before they expire at the end of the year. Nordstrom will charge your Nordy credit card, then reimburse you. They also do alterations on items not purchased from their store for a higher fee. It so totally worth it to have a Nordstrom card just for this benefit. I love that the company is very customer oriented and have yet to encounter any employee who is not top notch. The more you shop, they more rewards you will receive. I like purchasing gifts from here because returns are no hassle. I love saving my Nordstrom reward notes for myself to purchase items when I shop. The rewards now expire...use it or lose it! Insider tip is to trade them in for gift cards which never expire and make excellent last minute gifts. Load denominations of various amounts and put the remainder on a separate card to save. Online purchases can be sent back with pre-paid labels or directly at any brick and mortar location. Btw, Nordstrom offers free gift wrapping in store on the 1st floor where customer service and alteration pick up is. Unfortunately, they did not have Christmas wrap so I just asked for a gift box. If you ever shop at their downtown Seattle location, they are able to provide one hour alterations for easy things like pants hems. Amazing! read more

Ah Nordstrom. When this store first opened in Hawaii, it was thought to be some ultra, high end department store, like Newman Marcus, where everything is incredibly expensive. The people demanded Sears back! They probably demanded Liberty House and JCPenney too! It wasn't until Nordstrom moved over into the main area of Ala Moana shopping center from where Target is currently that I began accepting Nordstrom as a decent store to shop in. This Nordstrom is located all the way on the west end of Ala Moana Shopping Center, but it's on the newer side with ample amount of spacious parking located on both sides that easily accessible from the second and third levels. This Nordstrom is clean and very spacious, and even more so now with the Corona safety guidelines. Hand sanitizers are at every cashier station and signs to stay 6 ft away are easily seen. Like any department store, there's an array of clothing, accessories, and the like throughout the store. Everything is neat and organized. There are a lot of quality items that may seem expensive, but the price is actually the same as in Macy's or at any specific boutique store. Unlike Macy's, Nordstrom doesn't have any coupons or monthly sales, which is disappointing as I like to save, but there are clearance section and you may find the random markdowns. It does hold "Sale Events" every few months that you need to find out yourself. No catalogues mailed to your home! Overall, even though I do more accompanying and browsing than actually purchasing, I like "shopping" at this Nordstrom. Love the openness and spaciousness, the brightness and cleanliness, and the quality of items. Plus, the WiFi is strong!! Macy's has the worst WiFi signal ever... The staff at every section are all friendly, patient, helpful, and a good attitude. Macy's is a different story. Additionally, online ordering and pick ups are incredibly easy and efficient, as well as returning. Nordstrom definitely does things better than the other department stores currently in Ala Moana. read more

They were instrumental in restoring the shopping experience in the economy. I called in an hour prior to closing to see if they had my size in a certain pair of Tory Burch sandals, Reese/Rico? answered the shoe department line and was able to locate it. He was sweet and explained how he couldn't put it on hold. Sadly I understood and just prayed it was there the next day after work. It was the last one in its size.. I parked near Shirokiya and took the escalators up, made a U-turn and b-lined it straight to Nordstrom! As usual, you go in for one specific thing but end up walking out with more! Travis helped me. We couldn't find right side but found the left, odd! He got me the sand colored miller pair in the meantime and I was set to walk out with something. Minutes later he found the right side which was mis-labeled. I couldn't decide so I got both pairs lol. TB miller sandals lasted me about 3 years so it was time for some new new. Unexpectedly I ran into Reece/Rico and he remembered that I was the one who called. He helped look for the right side as well but then he had to assist another customer. Bought a few items for the loved ones living in Los Angeles, and was told they will do the free shipment to save us the hassles; the time it will take will be between 3 to 8 days. To our big surprise, the items were delivered within a couple days!!! Definitely will shop again in the future and use the free shipment for out of state gifts.
