Every time I get a chance to visit Waikiki, I always stop at Mahina and this location in particular not only for its wonderful selection of clothing and accessories, especially its jewelry, but also the lovely service from the individuals who work there. They are full of the aloha spirit, super friendly, and helpful. Make you feel right at home. I really like that they have a variety of items that are wearable not only if you're visiting Hawaii on vacation but also things that you can take back home especially if you live in California or have a coastal beach style. Their jewelry selection is so cute lots of little island themed type jewelry that is sophisticated and dainty and not overly priced at all - very affordable. They also get new inventory quite often so it's great to be able to check them out if you're staying for a longer period of time to see if they have new items or if you're like me you may just be tempted to go back to make another purchase. Located on the Waikiki Beach Walk, I always visit Marina when I'm on the island. Over the years I've purchased several tunics and shirts; some in vibrant turquoise & white and some coral & white that showcase Hawaiian prints. Whenever I wear them, I'm transported back to memories of warm sunny beach days! I've also bought pure white separates, comfy loose knit sweaters and maxi dresses. All affordable and on point. I'm bummed I forgot the name of the sales associate who helped me -- they checked in with me every few minutes to take new finds and set aside a dressing room for me. Beautiful little shop full of seafoam blues and teaks, turquoise and sea blues, the colors and patterns are gorgeous and though the ship itself is not huge, it beckons with the gorgeous colors, especially the ocean. I saw a dress in the window and went in hoping that it was affordable, which is was (less than $80). But it just was not well made. First, it was rayon, not cotton, which I could've lived with--but no adjustable straps. On the plus side, the shop has many unique things, and if you happen to score, then you're in luck. The woman working there was friendly and were rocking--the store is also conveniently l located, so if you're in the area you'll pass by. Parking, though, is tough. read more

Was randomly in the area for a wedding and wanted to get some cute clothes to go around in so I went on yelp and Mahina was highly recommended. I was kind of skeptical because I didn't think it was possible for somewhere so reasonably priced to also have fantastic customer service but I was SO happy with the outfit I was helped to pick out. I found some white linen ish pants that I thought were super cute and went around the store twice but didn't know what to match them with. Then someone (non judgmentally!) offered to help me and in like 2 minutes they came back with several options, all of which were super cute. I got the pants + a cute linen ish crop top + a jumpsuit for less than $150 which I felt was super reasonable for how cute and well made the items were. Wow!!! Great New Find!! Mahina is a new store to Honolulu. They have 3 stores on Maui (Paia, Kihei and Lahaina) full of great fashion at fabulous prices! They won Best Boutique in the Best of Maui award. I noticed this new store in the new Waikiki Beach Walk Shopping Center...so I wandered in...to my pleasant surprise I found myself surrounded by great style for all ages and the prices are sooooo reasonable! They say "fresh stuff, nice prices" Skirts and tube dresses start at $19! Really cool handbags around $49, tops,lingerie, footwear, belts, accessories. Hey, this is another one of those stores that I hate to share cause I want to shop there and don't want them running out of stock...but the owner Joe said, not to worry because they bring in items every week...lots of really cute stuff....and they even offer a 10% kamaaina discount (show them your Hawaii ID)....so ladies, here's a great new find for Honolulu...and guys, here's your opportunity to find something really cute for that special girl for Christmas....(by the way, Joe is a really nice guy!) I was pleasantly surprised when i walked in. I really expected it to be super over priced like everything else in Waikiki. It wasn't though! Short Summer dresses for only $30? Ohh my! The styles are very up to date and nicely displayed. They had everything from lingerie to cute formal dresses, at an affordable price of course! I just wish they had a larger selection. But it's okay because every time I stop by they always have new stuff. Oh, they also have a sale rack! I hope that they don't get so popular that they raise prices like most places. Best selection out of all the locations on Oahu. Clothing, jewelry, accessories. Nice blend of beachy, dressy, & casual. Overall, reasonably priced. I frequent the Kahala location because of how convenient it is, but it's rare for me to find things that I like. So it was actually one of the Kahala workers who told me that the Waikiki location has a larger selection. Parking is kind of a pain when it comes to Waikiki. They do validate at Embassy Suites valet, but only if you spend $$$ there ($20 minimum purchase 10AM-3PM according to their Instagram account). Not sure what the deal is for after 3PM. You could also park at Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center and get validation by making a purchase at ABC store, or eating at a restaurant in that shopping center. Bonus: 10% off for Kamaaina! read more

On Thursday, December 19 I wandered in looking for Christmas gifts. I have always liked the things I see in the window and when walking by but never had the opportunity to stop in. As I entered with my young son, I noticed the 3 girls working gather up in a small huddle and look over at us, whispering. While I browsed, not a single one offered assistance, kind word or even a hello. In fact, one of them walked away as I approached with a question and another edged past us with her back to us while we browsed. It perhaps should be noted that I don't "dress up" to go shopping, especially after working all day and then trying to convince a 6 year old to join, but I most certainly did not deserve to be treated with such indifference (at best) and disdain. The employees should do better at reflecting the beauty of the clothes they sell. Until then, I won't be back. I happily spent my money at the other locally owned shops nearby. read more

Friend was buying a necklace & trying to decide what necklace to get btwn 2 different ones. It was 5:45. They told us they closed at 6 when we asked. We understood they were trying to close but we knew we had time to make a decision. I could already feel their irritation, but just waited for my friend to finish her decision. She asked her son to put one away. I watched him the whole time and he was nicely trying to put it in the jewelry box when the girl fixing the shirts near by literally went up to him & snatched the necklace out of his hands and grabbed the box as well. She slammed the box lid shut. I told him. It's ok hon you were just trying to be helpful right? He moved his head sadly up and down. I confronted her in a passive way making it known it was uncalled for & her bc attitude was not necessary. She snubbed me as i walked out with the little boy. She continued slamming the door behind me. I turned back around to let my friend know we would be around the corner & realized she locked the door..it was not 6p yet, ...so i knocked on the door. I came in to kill 15 minutes and left with two items: a comfortable and flattering maxi dress ($42) and a casual and stylish cinch belt ($14). I didn't even known there was a kama'aina discount (10%), but the salesperson noticed my Hawaii driver's license and offered it to me anyway. Score. There were a number of dresses and accessories in various colors and sizes that I caught my eye. Lack of size is always a problem in Hawaii because every girl here seems to be an XS or 0 despite the meat and starch heavy diet (loco mocos and 24-inch waists aren't mutually exclusive). When there's more to shopping than just Forever 21, you won't have to worry about looking like a spring chicken. Thanks to Mahina, I've found that variety and style I'm looking for without trying to look like I'm 21 in my real age. I remember going to my first Mahina store with my good friend on Maui. I spent like Alexander bought a never ending six pack at Village Bottle Shop in Kaka'ako. Now I'm obsessed and shop at every Mahina location I can find. The Waikiki location is located off of Lewers St towards Yard House. I've only taken the bus or walked since parking in Waikiki could be pricey. Mahina is locally owned and originally from Maui. The couple first opened their store in Paia in 2006 and voted "best boutique" for 7 years in a row and with locations in Kauai, Oahu, and Big Island. Living in Hawai'i where the sun is always shining all year round, we need those soft flowy dresses, pretty tops and mind blowing accessories. One of my favorite things is finding uniquely made statements in a boutique. But what's hard is finding something I really like and leaving it behind due to its outrageous price. Mahina have their fair selections of expensive items and some reasonable selections. I love shopping at their 20%-50% discount racks. In those sections I've found dresses and tops in my size and style for a steal. I've returned several times for accessories ranging from $5 and up. Their strappy sandals are nicely chosen to pair with the perfect ensemble, as well as purses and clutches at a great quality. I'm a huge fan of following their social media and tend to find outfits and accessories I like. Each Mahina location has their Instagram. They're very active in responding in regards to any questions a customer may have. I've found a handful of items I wanted them to reserve and try on at the Waikiki store. Should they not have the piece avail, they will call all stores on the island for a style and color check and do an instore delivery. I love the attention to customer service in Waikiki. Not only the clothes are displayed nicely, but the store is clean and organized. Accessories are decorated throughout the store, be prepared to do some soul searching. Some of the mannequins may be wearing some of them. I recommend visiting this store if you're ever in the spirit of shopping. I don't Yelp often but I had the most amazing shopping experience at this cute lil boutique while visiting Oahu last weekend. The clothes there are super cute and priced fairly, but what stood out the most was the staff! Tawni and Tamara were an absolute dream team! I was shopping for some casual new daytime pieces as well as evening dressy looks. I guess I could have tried on the entire store with those plans in mind, but the girls made some great suggestions that were most flattering and I bought almost everyone of their suggestions! While in the dressing room they checked on me and Tawni even brought me some of her ideas that honestly, I would have never pulled, but totally worked on me! Great casual dress styles you won't be dropping your whole vacation fund on or your local paycheck. I am actually sad I missed their other store when I was on Maui a while ago. I just picked up a knee length fold over skirt that can convert into a strapless dress and a little unmentionable to wear under a gauzy dress I own that was too see through to wear before...thank you Mahina! And Can I believe my eyes? Is that a made in the USA tag? Yes! So far my favorite place I have shopped anywhere among the Hawaiian Islands! I stumbled upon this place while waiting for a table at Yard House. A cute outfit in the window drew me in, and suddenly my hour-wait for Yard House turned into a shopping spree. Their location was key since it was still in range of the pager given to us by the restaurant. I was happy to find a large selection of cute and trendy apparel that was reasonably priced. Most of the dresses I was eyeing were in the $30 - 45 range. This store is easily comparable to Eden in Love Boutique in Ward Warehouse, probably because they both obtain their merchandise from the LA Fashion District. It took me about 5 minutes to find an armful of cute dresses to try on. Before writing this review, I was surprised to find several comments about bad customer service. Management must've really pushed their staff to step up their game, because it was a bustling Saturday night and the 2 girls working were friendly and helpful by showing me new merchandise, offering different sizes and informing me about the 10% Kamaaina Discount. We were going to do high tea at Halekulani, but once we saw this store..... we were like... what high tea?? The clothes here are cute, trendy - yet seemingly timeless, sexy and totally affordable.
