Hawaii and Ala Moana Center is fortunate to have high class retail store like Nordstrom share its experience and reputation here in islands. They were instrumental in restoring the shopping experience in the economy. They have managed to adapt well to the island and local sense of responsibility and respect that welcomes all walks of life. You don't have to be a celebrity or rich and famous yet more like part of the Ohana and island lifestyle. I have found the service to be friendly and professional and felt as ease simply walking through and around the store. The eatery like Ruscello's is a favorite spot to dine with family that doesn't quite empty out your wallet. A special place within a special place. Bought a few items for the loved ones living in Los Angeles, and was told they will do the free shipment to save us the hassles; the time it will take will be between 3 to 8 days. To our big surprise, the items were delivered within a couple days!!! Definitely will shop again in the future and use the free shipment for out of state gifts. Last week the rare wheel broken and I try to get it fixed in store, they refund me without hesitation that I can't believe. I read the book about the history of Nordstrom. True, their customer service is better than most retail stores. But I experienced Nordstrom's superior customer service firsthand this week! I purchased jewelry on sale (woo hoo!) that needed to be flown in from the mainland. I received an email notice that my purchase was going to be delivered on Thursday! Great! My salesperson, Christine, called to reconfirm the good news. Thereafter followed a series of calls back and forth between Christine, her manager, Ann Tang, and me. My purchase was addressed to my P.O. Box, to be delivered there. UPS seemed to be stumped as they usually deliver only to Street addresses. So Christine and Ann diligently followed up on the exact location of my purchase and kept me apprised the entire time. And on Friday, I went to check my post office box, and there was my purchase! I was so happy that it wasn't lost in the vast emptiness of shipping limbo! But the follow-up and diligence of Christine and Ann was truly noteworthy and commendable and I truly appreciate their superior customer service! When I buy jewelry in the future, it will be from them because they care about me as their customer! Woo hoo! read more

Nordstrom has been one of my favorite department stores for more than 20 years! I first fell in love with Nordy's at their locations in Fashion Valley and Horton Plaza in San Diego. Browsing around on days like the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale with the sweet sound of a classical pianist in the air just takes shopping to another level. Sales Associates are seasoned professionals and adhere to the utmost care and customer service. This 3-story Nordstrom Dept store in Honolulu is the one and only in the state and is located at Ala Moana shopping center (there's a couple of Nordstrom Rack's though). It offers a more relaxed vibe, which aligns to the island life here. So, no baby grand piano here, but the spirit of aloha! The store actually celebrated its re-grand opening in March 2016 after vacating from its location at the mall off of Kapiolani Blvd. Although a bit smaller, there are more glass windows which provide a bright and cheerful shopping experience. It also offers cozy lounge areas on each floor offering outlets for charging electronic devices. Hungry? Thirsty? This Nordstrom's offers a nice variety of eateries and all are excellent options! Starting from the top on 3rd, there's Ruscello restaurant (near the baby section), for Mediterranean & Italian fare plus cocktails. On 2nd is Habitant (near Top Shop brand), a bar offering handcrafted cocktails and small bites to eat. On the way out is the eBar for coffee and pastries. There's a nice lanai area to enjoy your treats, too. On the 1st floor, just outside of the entrance, is the Gelato Bar. Only in Hawaii! It offers locally made gelato and sorbets. So delicious in this tropical weather! I recently attended the 2018 Fall Beauty Event and thoroughly enjoyed it. The ticket to get in was to buy a $20 gift card, which could be used toward purchases at the beauty event. I first learned about the event a few weeks prior when I purchased a lipstick from Liza-Marie at the Laura Mercier counter. She was so very helpful and would recommend to anyone to visit her for your makeup or beauty needs! She recommended I make an appt to learn about Kate Somerville. So, I secured a time slot for a complimentary DermalQuench Oxygen Treatment ($270 value) the day of the Fall Beauty Trend Event. Before this review gets any longer, my parking tip is to find a space on the street level near Foodland and take the elevator up. I am a regular Nordstrom customer both online and in person. The merchandise in store is limited and often odd. I've purchased several dresses online and returned them because they didn't suit my taste when I tried them on. I went a couple times to will call to do my return. The person there ALWAYS says that you can return this to anyone in the store as if she didn't really want to help me. Yesterday she said the same thing and said I would need to wait. I said I was fine waiting. This passive aggressive attitude does not make me want to shop at this store. Poor customer service! read more

Arrived at 7:40pm. Needed pants altered. Sales lady tried calling alterations dept twice. No pick up. She said they close at 8. Manager came and called alterations, no pick up. I asked what time the store closed. 9pm. Okay so if alterations closes at 8, an hour before your store closes, and it's only 7:40, how are customers supposed to know that? Went into Nordstrom to look at baby car seats and strollers. I was pleased to have spent time speaking with Michelle who had so much information and insight on the different models, brands, and styles. She not only gave me useful information, but also took the time to demonstrate how to handle the strollers, pointing out how to open/close the stroller, change out the seats, and showing me the subtle differences between each model of the car seats. She gave real life examples of reasons why one would and would not go with certain models, she even gave me a handout that outlined pricing, and model details of the Nuna. After visiting today, I feel confident and excited to buy the stroller that's best fit for our growing family! read more

I don't usually come to this side of the mall (the newer Ewa side) but I've been coming to Nordstrom recently because they have cool pop-ups. For example, they had the Girl Scouts here so obviously I had to come buy some cookies. And then they had some other pop-ups with this girl that sells these awesome cups and then with this small biz that makes baked goods. I love that this shop allows smaller businesses to come and sell their products. They also have some cool products too. I always thought that this place was Uber expensive but some things are very affordable. There's also a coffee shop, a bar, a restaurant and cool bathroom/lounge. read more

Nordstrom has a bar!?!? I was just window shopping until I found this bar in Nordstrom. Then I turned into an alcohol shopper. Long story short, I now have a new pair of wingtips and some John Travolta socks. These are probably the cleanest wingtips I've ever seen in my life. Worth the price, and I guarantee none of my friends have John Travolta socks. Sometimes I buy dumb stuff when I drink, but not today. I spent $300 in here today. WORTH IT! I seriously have a love hate relationship with this place. On the department store scale, it's located somewhere between Macy's and Neiman Marcus. The problem that I have with this place is that it carries all the brands that I love, especially in the makeup department. Hello Charlotte Tilbury and Mario Badescu! The store is three levels and huge. It has their Ruscello restaurant and Habitant bar. Their Gelato bar is now located outside the store on the second level. The store is bright and beautiful. I always tell myself that I'll just look. It rarely works. I need to stop lying to myself, lol. The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is currently running. They sent me an email with $10 off. During the COVID-19 "stay in Place" started to purge and do some spring cleaning. Came across a Nordstrom gift card that was given to me at Christmas several years ago. I was elated that I came across this used gift card for $100. In trying to buy something online found the card to be invalid. When Nordstrom reopened Thursday, 5-28-20, went in to inquire why the card couldn't be used? Thought that Gift cards don't expire. After waiting 30 minutes in the store while a sales clerk in the returns dept assisted me, I was told that the card was reported stolen and involved in a fraudulent transaction. How could it have been reported stolen when I was the recipient and holding the card in my hand? I was told there was nothing Nordstrom was willing to do. They were unwilling to reissue me a new card. I was disappointed and left the store. Things weren't adding up. I felt unsatisfied with that response, so I called credit and found out that the gift card was involved in a fraudulent transaction, they even gave me a date when the fraud occurred and was given an order # to reference. I was referred by Scott in Credit to call the Customer Financial Dept who would reissue me the gift card. When I called the Financial Dept I was told by Tressa that in order for me to have the card reissued I would need to file a police report. It was shared that more than 10 other gift cards were involved in this fraud case. I then asked why am I reporting this to the police when Nordstrom has all the information, and this seemed like an internal matter. Furthermore, the gift card was issued in the store, because it was a speciality card in given in the Nordstrom gift card holder. Also, I was the one who scratched off the access code on the back of the card when trying to use it for an online purchase. I was directed by Tressa to file a report with the police. I filed a police report, got the police report number and called back the Financial Dept to get my $100 gift card reissued. What broke the camel's back was when going through all the steps asked if me through various Nordstrom employees, I was told by Leslie in the Financial Dept that Nordstrom could not reissue a gift card, maybe the police could help me recover my losses. I was told that the goods were sent and couldn't be recovered. That this is like losing cash? It was also inferred that maybe I was involved and gave this gift card to someone who used it. That was really an uncalled for insulting accusation. Leslie, you may need to be retrained after this COVID break. It was time for baby stroller and car seat shopping so my significant other and I went to Nordstrom to test out some strollers and car seats we had read reviews about online. Little did we know we would meet Karl, who was working in that department and a local expert on the strollers and car seats. As we are first time parents we had a lot of questions and Karl was extremely helpful. We originally thought we wanted a stroller with a car seat from the same brand, but Karl listened to our wants and needs and helped us mix and match and we couldn't be more thrilled with the selections we took home yesterday. I will always remember this experience at Nordstrom, thanks to Karl and how he made this process so stress free and actually fun for us!!! He gave us a breakdown of the strollers and car seats until we were able to do it on our own. He was very patient and kind. He allowed us to take our time, and he was there for us as we maybe even asked repeat questions. We feel very blessed to have met Karl for all his guidance he provided during this process. My favorite time to come here is when they have their yearly anniversary sale! It's the best time to stock up on your beauty products! I don't really have a main person that helps me like some people for makeup. I just come here once a year for that and everyone seems to be really friendly when I do come. Other than that! I wish they still had the cafe too! It's just a restaurant now but the cafe idea they had before was nice for a quick grab and go. Another thing I love here is the shoe dept! I bought my wedding shoes here. Well I seen it online hoping they had it in stores but I was able to find the brand to see what sizing would fit best for my online order so I don't have to buy multiple sizes. And now I have a love for Christian louboutons! And they have this here! The guy that helped me with my first pair explained the history of the red soles and made sure I was ok with the sizing before leaving the store. Love the new space they occupy, adjacent to the soon to be finished condominiums. One can still enjoy a nice refreshing gelato just off the first floor mall entrance, ebar coffee just in the second floor mall entrance, a slightly more adult beverage at the second floor middle of the store bar, Habilitant. Restaurant is now a full service restaurant with similar menu items as the previous Nordstrom Cafe...located on the third floor of the new store. The addition of a resting station for tired feet doubles up as a charging station for electronics. The middle of the long rectangle table runs a charging strip with many outlets. Nordstrom, or Nordy's for short, oozes superb customer service - no question about it! Staff is incredibly well-trained and aim to please. Have not had a bad experience here. The sales representatives try to help you with finding merchandise, so you're not on your own (unlike department stores).) The Customer Service Representatives (by phone) are most accommodating as well. I like that you know you're speaking with CSRs in the U.S. and not face any communication barriers. There's Nordstrom's Café on street level which is convenient when you want to grab a quick bite to eat - a great alternative to the Food Court. There's coffee bars on mall and 3d level and a gelato bar on mall level. The Ala Moana store will be moving to the Ewa end of the mall next year, so more Nordy's excitement to follow. read more

Nordstrom has become my favorite department store. Their free shipping and free returns in-store makes Nordstrom sooooo convenient!! I can purchase anything online and have it shipped to me, and if I decide I don't like it, I can return it at the Ala Moana location. I've always had really great interactions with the customer service representatives at Ala Moana, even though I feel guilty for returning things sometimes. They're always really sweet and helpful and I don't feel like I'm burdening them when I return things. My family and I have shopped here several times over the years. Never had any issues, in fact, we've had several above & beyond experiences. That changed today. My son decided he wanted to a tailored suit instead of renting a tux for the proms he's attending. We arrive at Nordstrom where my son & I stop at the Boho Blooms pop-up to grab an arrangement for his girlfriend. My husband & daughter decided to head upstairs to look at suit patterns and dress shirts that could compliment the gowns. When my son & I join them upstairs, I see one worker helping someone checking out. I start looking and then my son mentions something that's in the middle of the mall. I dislike going back & forth so we decide to take care of that first and then return to select a suit. Once out the door, my daughter starts talking about their experience while my son & I were on the second floor. The worker had initially walked towards them, looked at my husband, turned away and approached someone who arrived after them and asked if he needed help. As the other customer shopped, the worker never acknowledged my family but followed them as they browsed. Was it what my husband was wearing? A baseball cap, t-shirt and crocs flip flops? I'm not going to provide our salaries, however, I will say that the worker had his Pretty Woman moment -- no joke. I'm very disappointed because Nordstrom is one of my favorite stores. This is for the MAC in nordstrom. By far the best service from any MAC I've been to. I had to go to a party and I scheduled to have my makeup done a few days prior since they were having an event today. I got there a little before eight because my appointment was at eight. My appointment was with Jenn. She is by far the sweetest and nicest makeup artist I've ever met. Before I arrived, I found out some bad news and I was irritated but she made me so relaxed while I was vetting my makeup done. It was almost as if I had a therapy session while getting my makeup done. She let me vent to her without even knowing me. Anyways enough of my ranting. Back to the makeup :) I wasn't picky or anything so I let her take the reins with my makeup. It came out looking way better than I expected. After the makeup application, I told her that I needed a blending brush and a black waterproof eye pencil. As she was ringing me up, she told me that they would be having another event later this month. Before I left, she let me know that if I ever needed my makeup done to come see her. Overall nordstrom MAC receives 5 stars because of their great service and personable makeup artists. read more

The restaurant looks okay as the prices are reasonable and it is busy. I would like to try it one day. Overall the store is clean and organized. It is a nice walk through the store. Beautiful store - so clean and well organized! I love seeing how various Nordstrom stores are laid out from state to state - this one is unique and lovely! Parking was a little tricky as there wasn't much available near where we thought the Nordstrom was. Eventually we just parked and once we stepped outside we could see where the store was on the end of the Ala Moana mall. We stopped in here before my friend's wedding because our suit and dress got wrinkled in the garment bag carried on the plane. Being a loyal Nordies customer for the last couple of decades, we have always been able to have our clothes purchased from here steamed without issue when traveling to weddings or special events (and when we don't have access to an iron or steamer). I found a store associate in the mens department who rolled her eyes at me when I asked if someone could steam our garments or if I could use the steamer sitting out by the register. She asked me why I didn't have it done at my hotel, to which I replied I was not staying at a hotel. She then let me know usually alterations would have to do the steaming with fees. I said that would be fine as I'm a cardholder and have alterations benefits to utilize. She sighed and then said she would do it this time but would have to stop and help other customers if anyone needed anything in the meantime. I again said we were not in a hurry and could even leave the items and come back later. Once she turned on the steamer and realized it would only take her 5 minutes to do a quick steam to release the few wrinkles that set in during the flight, she seemed to relax a little bit. Literally 5 minutes later she handed our items back to us and then walked away. I so appreciate that she was able to do this for us, but I also left with a negative feeling in my gut. Is this just the way locals handle visitors once they realize they don't live here? Or was it just a bad day for one isolated negative experience with one associate? I'm hoping it was the latter as this store has such good energy otherwise! The other departments seemed to have friendlier employees and we enjoyed watching part of the game at Habitant. read more
