Waited for a bit, seems they are busy despite not have other customers to service in the store? Eventually I was assisted with my on-line order for pick-up at Pearlridge. I had to exchange a dress that I purchased the night before because the 2 tags were mislabeled. When I went back on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, between 10:15-10:30 am. The older sales associate with eyelashes and long nails was rude. She asked,"so do you want to return it?". I HAD to ask her for the smaller size. She didn't even ask if she could help with an exchange or size. She retrieved it in a huff. All of this doesn't extend the Manaola Aloha. I've purchased a few from the designer, but will consider this experience for the future. read more

Free tickets to the Hula Bowl at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii... My friend, Kuuipo, tagged me on Instagram for a contest to win 4 tickets to see the last football game of the college season. I didn't think I'd win... but... I did! I got a message from Manaola HAWAII to pick up the tickets TODAY. I was on my way to my mom's house for Lunar New Year dinner, so I had to take a detour to Ala Moana Shopping Center... haha! [Loosely translated: Mana = magical power. Ola = life] LOCATION: using Rena G.'s tip on the Yelp app, she directed me to Center Stage - by Big Island Candies. Wow...there was a big crowd outside because the shop was in the process of being blessed for the New Year of the Golden Rat. A Kung Fu Club was performing the traditional Lion Dance. Luckily, I had a red envelope (li see) in my purse so I could feed one of the lions! How exciting! I wasn't able to shop this time, so I'm looking forward to returning and getting a dress. The traditional Hawaiian patterns on the material have special meanings. The styles are contemporary and look comfortable and modern. If you look on Facebook and/or Instagram, the photos use the natural beauty of our islands as a backdrop. The ocean and mountains accentuate the clothing that the local models are wearing. Besides clothing, there were tote bags, clutches, body lotions, and more! I just gotta go back soon and take a better look at these treasures! Tips: there's free parking at Ala Moana Shopping Center - go to the Makai side, lower level. The clean, spacious store has several dressing rooms! Every time I have walked into this store the employees always give me this snobby look like I shouldn't be shopping in there. The most recent visit was certainly my last. I requested to purchase a dress that was in the window (that was for sale, not just for display). The girl working at the counter looked at me like I was filth then asked her coworker behind her if they would sell me the dress. The man looked me up and down then rudely turned around and said no. The girl then said I would need to make an appointment and try it on....saying "it's a whole thing" without offering me a day or time to even schedule. Like I had to be "approved" by the store workers to buy their product. It feels that because I am not Hawaiian that they don't want me wearing their clothing line. Their rude behavior is appalling especially for a brand that isn't even high end or known outside of this state. I have never been disrespected by anyone in my life like that. Blatant racism by those retail workers is unacceptable and completely uncalled for. For an up and coming designer to attempt to make it in this world, you aren't doing it the right way. All were 100% rayon, so if you buy these, be careful when cleaning it because the fabric is unpredictable. I recommend handwashing, steaming or dry cleaning only as it may shrink, stetch, or bleed dyes. On my next visit, I bought four of the six colors that the Kipuka Poncho came in and went back a week later to buy the final two colors because my collection felt incomplete. Then, I returned, yet again, for another visit and purchased four malama dresses (two came from the Kolani collection, which are priced significantly more than the other two). Since then, I've been visiting and checking their inventory about every two weeks or so. To date, I have over 10 pieces and counting. So, yes, you could say I'm obsessed! I just LOVE the free-flowing nature of each piece. Whenever I wear Manaola, I get complimented on my outfit. It never fails and is worth every penny! The customer service has been exceptional every single time I've visited. I've come around so often that they've gotten to know my entire family. The local staff is genuinely friendly and helpful, especially when trying to find the right fit. Both standard sizes (XS to XXL) as well as in-btween sizes (XS-S, S-M, M-L, L-XL, XL-XXL) are available. A lot of the pieces are OS or one-size-fits-all, so even mo' bettah! With each purchase, a mana'o (thought or idea) card is provided at checkout to explain the meaning of the pattern that I have chosen, so I can wear my Manaola pieces with ha'aheo (pride) everywhere I go. read more

I will never support this company. Both the owner and people that work for the company think they sh*t gold. They walk around with their nose to the sky as if they are Gods gift to the world. If you've ever seen them at Merrie Monarch, you know exactly what I mean. Now let's talk about the clothes. I haven't seen a single item from them that was crafted in Hawaii but yet they profit on Hawaiian culture. Something made in Indonesia should not cost $300. It's so hit or miss at this store. I always pay a visit whenever I'm close. The customer service changes dramatically depending on who's working. Sometimes I get an immediate greeting, other times it's hard to get noticed while staff talks story to each other. There can be a super pretentious vibe at times.. I love their designs. They are stylish, vibrant, and unique. Sometimes.. a little too unique for my liking.. wish they would do a little more basics.. but hey, that's what makes them them. Hate... their sizes. I swear it's like winning the lottery if you actually find a style you like AND your in your size. You better buy that piece right away because the stars may not align like that for several more trips. It seems like they only ever have one xxs and one L available. I pride myself on the choices my family and I wear especially when it comes to our matching attire. We shop at local businesses to help support in their own success and refer our family and friends when we feel that our patronage is much appreciated or that the products/merchandise speak for itself. But the biggest factor for me personally is the way we are made to feel and having our expectations met with disappointment or surpassed. We've visited the Pearlridge location once and the young man working there didn't even greet us. When I inquired about a product, he gave me a short answer and walked away. There was no Aloha, no Ho'okipa and I felt as if I inconvenienced him. The store was empty that day and he went back to using his phone behind the counter so moving forward I decided to only visit the Ala Moana location. When businesses hire, their employees become an extension and as consumers we expect a level of guest servicing to some aspect. I've been in the hospitality/customer service/retail/management industry for over 30 years so I will make an effort to write a commendation when it's warranted. A few years ago we visited Manaola and met a young man by the name of Tanner. When we walked in, he greeted us like we were Ohana and immediately welcomed my husband and I. He began explaining who Manaola is and his vision. Intrigued, I asked him how long he was with the company and to my surprise he was a recent hire. He had such a passion & respect for the business that you almost believed he was speaking as if it was his own. THAT kind of loyalty and passion is something you can't train or teach, it's either instilled within us or it's nonexistent. Over the next few years when my family and I would visit, it wasn't because of the design and don't get me wrong the clothing is beautiful, but it was because of Tanner's mana'o that he shared. You could see his ha'aheo when he spoke about the designs which persuaded us to purchase and our purchases became sentimental in value for us as Hawaiian's. It's difficult to find someone that resonates with their guests, that builds rapport, expresses a deep sense of ho'okipa with them, and epitomizes the company, the brand, and the business the way that Tanner has provided for my family and I over the years. We've referred so many of our family and friends because of this young man and I wanted to say "mahalo nui loa to Tanner for all your Aloha and Ho'okipa you provided consistently over the year's." We truly appreciate you! I hope the company sees you for your value, your worth, and what you so effortlessly have brought to the business! If this review was based on Tanner I would have given it 5 stars, I only gave it 4 because of the experience I had at the Pearlridge location. I frequently shop at places like Fighting Eel and Manuhealii. I like supporting local designers, so it was just natural that when Manaola opened in Ala Moana, I needed to check it out. On my first visit, I didn't buy anything. I browsed around and the few pieces I liked were crazy expensive. I left thinking wow, I'd need a special occasion to justify buying anything from here. A few months later, I received a gift from Manaola from a friend. It rekindled my interest and I made sure to stop by the store on my next visit to ala Moana to see if there was anything I really loved. Sure enough, there were 2 dresses left in a pretty teal print. It was easy enough to wave someone down to try it on, and I liked it, so I ended up getting it. The whole experience was good overall and the people working here were friendly and informative. In addition to clothing, they also sell luggage and bags. You can find things for yourself and gifts for others. They take their time wrapping your purchases in tissue paper and they even give you a little card that gives info about the print. read more

Through many years, we've patronized many local designers (dating way back) from Mamo Howell, Manuheali'i, Rix...and more recent designers such as Keli'iwehi Fashions, Hina Hawai'i, Tanoa, and HI Finest...to name a few. A few years back, we stumbled across a local label that would soon become our favorite: MANAOLA. The cozy boutique, located (back then) along the makai side lower-level at Ala Moana Shopping Center grabbed our attention. Amazing graphic designs with minimalist lines, and classic colorways with diverse prints and patterns suitable for both casual and formal wear, depending on the ensemble. As attractive as this fashion line appeared, it was the "Aloha" from the employee there that truly drew us in...his name was Tanner. Tanner gave us just the right amount of attention to allow us the comfort to browse, while feeling as though any need we had would immediately be fulfilled. We felt like truly valued guests in his boutique...and THAT, to me, was extremely important. Quality of SERVICE, to match the quality of product What was also amazing was that Tanner wore and showcased the MANAOLA line himself, as his workplace attire...and being able to see just how great the clothing looked while being worn, sealed the deal for us. My wife and I purchased two full outfits for our family of five; along with several miscellaneous items (bags, totes) and were very excited. A few months later, we returned to MANAOLA with family that was visiting from the Mainland, and were fortunate enough to see Tanner again...and his professional courtesy and "Aloha" remained outstanding! We decided that from then on, we would call the store to make sure Tanner was available to assist us prior to stopping in for purchases. We've had the pleasure of dealing directly with Tanner on a dozen trips to the store now over the years...to acquire new outfits for ourselves and to induct more of our visiting family members from all over the Mainland as new clientele! This is my new-go-to-Boutique! I went to the Pop Up Shop they had at the Suncoast Casino, Las Vegas on the weekend (yesterday) and I'm so glad I did! After checking "I'm in" to this event on Yelp and watching their YouTube video on their stunning Couture line (black and Good) I'm in love! So I got in at about 9:30 and was impressed from the minute I walked in. Zack helped me and he was super friendly and knowledgeable about the pieces and names for each item. He helped me pick about 3 pieces and recommended sizes. Then Manaola of all people - Helped me -what!!! I tried the Hilo dress and Hilo jumpsuit and both times he demonstrated how to wrap and create sexy and casual looks! Normally I'm a medium in clothes, but Manaloa has such a luxurious flow to each piece - that I went for a small. I chose the Liliko'i Jumpsuit in a Small and the Hilo dress in a small. The pieces will run from about $100-$200 approximately - but remember this is a boutique and not just a chain retail shop. I can't wait to buy more!!!! Thank you Manaola! The 2 stars is for the service and staff at Ala Moana. First time I walked in, lady looks up, no greeting. Another girl comes from the back, very friendly and helpful. I ended up buying three dresses, one which had to be ordered. I chose delivery to the store as it's free and I wasn't in a rush for the dress. Advised that it would take about 3 days. I signed up for their rewards program so I could get updates on their new lines. I received the welcome email. After paying for the dress that I ordered online, I noticed that I didn't get an online receipt. They said they would call when and I'd get an email when the dress arrived at the store for pick up. I went back to the store and asked the (no greeting) lady who helped me, where the receipt was. She didn't give me a printed one. She ended up doing a screenshot of the order to use as my receipt and emailed it to me. Almost a week goes by and no call or email. I called the store and got, "oh yeah, the dress just got delivered to the store." I visited the store a few more times, 2 greeting, 1no greeting or help. It's really unfortunate regarding the inconsistent service because Manaola has really nice, comfortable, and classy clothing. When you say Aloha, you need to practice it. read more

I wish I could get a refund and be repaid for the clothes I bought from this brand. Never have I ever been so disappointed with the quality of clothing provided by a local designer. I bought a few long sleeve shirts and they are made so poorly it's as if I have wings when I wear them. I say this because the seams on the shoulders are poorly done. It's sad to see a local designer take credit for clothing and manufacturing when it's done off Hawaiian soil. It's no secret that the clothing is made off island and out of country. I'm sure a sassy response will be made to my review about this but who cares. I also want to give a shoutout to their HR team. Not in a positive sense. I applied for a part time job a few years back, specifically in 2017. I was scheduled to meet with their team and "interview". I did not show due to a loss in the family that same month. I'm stunned that this store/brand only has 5 reviews, because I stood in line for almost 4 hours this morning and I swear there was 100+. This store had to have held the more classiest Black Friday event I've ever had the privilege of attending. Live performances for almost the entire launch and Complimentary Starbucks beverages. Not to mention Manaola and his staff were generously gifting items to random people in the crowd, It legit felt like I was on the Oprah Holiday show where she just gives away freebies. It was pretty incredible. But enough with the wonderful experience of that.. I save my money to buy purchases here and there. I wish I could build my collection( it's slowly getting there). My most recent purchase was a teal and white Weekend Duffle bag, it was constantly complimented on my trip to Maui. His prints are just amazing, and you really can't find anything remotely close to it. You can really tell he puts a lot of thought in to what he designs and I feel like his passion is evident through the collections he launches. Also, almost every time I've visited the store every single staff member I've come in contact with was extremely pleasant and just filled with Aloha. I must say I am surprised this fake Hawaiian brand is still open! A "self-taught" critic/owner who is deluded by his own success. What have you done for our kanaka? Besides making attire for every single halau out there? What have you taught our keiki? What have you given back to our community? There are some things you can work on. 1) The price- why can't you offer a kama'aina rate. 2) Sizes- Your kanaka weren't meant to be small so why is your "Hawaiian" inspired clothing XL for the females? 3) The customer service- Very Hooio! You need to rethink your whole line because 1) It's not made here it's made in China. It's cheap material and cheap labor but you are going to charge your people over 4x the price you are getting for! Hewa! Shame on you and your company. While I love the unique designs, they need to vet their employees better and not hire them just because they're aesthetically pleasing to look at. Add some personality and top notch customer service and you will have a winning combination. Hire a secret shopper and see if they are a great representation of your brand. The sizing needs to be marketed for the local community and not just the size 2. There are plenty of us fluffy gals who will spend the money for beautiful, well made clothes and superb customer service. Disappointed and dissatisfied with quality and service. Received a beautiful men's shirt as a gift last Christmas. Because of it's value have worn it only three times for special occasions. This last time when I took it out of the washer the seam on one of the sleeves ripped leaving a long thread hanging and now an open seam. I took the shirt to the Ala Moana store and explained what happened. The shirt is in perfect condition other than the seam. I inquired if they could do anything and even asked if their seamstress could just mend and sew it. One sales person asked what size it was and walked away. I saw her look at the other shirts hanging on the rack of the same print but didn't come back. The other sales person started questioning me about who gave me the shirt which she found in the computer. I know my friend buys alot from this store. She then went to the back and after a few minutes returned saying they can't do anything cause I washed the shirt. I left disappointed thinking I was dealing with a higher end brand that would offer some type of service assistance or option that would back the quality of their items. My 5 year old and I went shopping at Manaola Ala Moana for my mom's birthday present. The staff there were very unfriendly, no aloha upon entering. It took 20 minutes before anyone approached me to see if I needed help (which I clearly did need) and I ended up purchasing a pretty pricy but beautiful burgundy & gold dress for her which she loved but was too large for her. (Small size) She decided to see how much it would cost to get altered...another $200 from a seamstress as Manaola does not do alterations. So, despite loving the dress she decided to return it as spending an additional $200 didn't seem like a good idea on a dress that would be worn only on special occasions. Returning the dress...my mom had to go back 3x's to do the exchange which she was very unhappy with. As the 1st time she did not have the receipt even though the price tag was still on the dress. She asked me to leave her the receipt at home for her to pick up. BACK to the store a 2nd time with receipt in hand only to be told she needed to cc it was charged on to do the refund. Why no one told her the 1st time she would need the cc to do the refund we don't know. So back home she went to get my cc to do the return on her 3rd trip back to Ala Moana. BY this time she was livid! She already has a $300 credit for Manaola but after this last encounter decided enough already, she said she will likely never use the credit as she doesn't want to shop at Manaola again with the mind of customer service she and I both received on separate occasions. We hope that after reading the reviews of all the unhappy customers regarding poor customer service, changes will be made as there are a bunch of reviews regarding customer service. read more

Manaola will forever be my go to store for " aloha " attire. Not only are the designs works of art with beautiful stories woven through the very fabrics but the staff are truly amazing. I'm in town for my father's funeral and in my Aunt's recommendation I stopped in to find something appropriate to wear. I loved the feel of the store and , of course, the clothes. Don't remember how small they go. I'm 5'7" + 150 lbs. and took a medium. One of the dresses I bought was one-size-fits-all, and the dress looked good on me AND could easily look good on someone 3x or maybe even 4x. Something about the draping makes the clothes fit well, so don't let the oversized look on the hanger stop you from trying things on. Only problem was the store shopping bag broke after 15 minutes. Super expensive not well made at all. Not worth the price. The designs are beautiful but cheaply made and overpriced. If U are making Polynesian clothing U should have Polynesian sizes. Largest size is extra large. Hope this place will evolve to serving the general community as a brand name and not only popular entertainment figures of Hawaii. If you claim u are making products of Hawaii for the people of Hawaii based on indigenous beliefs. Then do so in fashion where everyone can enjoy its purpose and beauty. AND MAKE PLUS SIZE CLOTHING. Manaola Yap was blessed with such great talent. Finally, a Hawaii designer that made it all the way to the New York Fashion Show. I admire him for applying his Hawaiian traditions into his designs. When you walk into his Ala Moana store, you instantly feel a true spirit of aloha. His fabrics and accessories are amazing and vibrant. Went in a few nights ago to look for potential shirts for our wedding party. Made eye contact with one of the ladies working there but no greeting- not even a smile, the two sale associates were in the very back of the store steaming pants and talking with one another. We took a few laps around the store admiring the beautiful colors and designs made and discussing potential shirts. Not once did any of the sales associates approach us for anything. This isn't the first time I've walked into MANAOLA and had this kind of terrible customer service. It's a turn off to a beautiful brand when you have snobby sales associates working the floor. read more
