A manager looked at the receipt, found the lesser priced, but same items in stock, and quickly issued a credit. And, I helped her restock the shelves for my extra savings;)! Shopping in Honolulu, Hawaii... Since we were at Ala Moana Center, we went upstairs to the Mall Level to check out the sales at Bath and Body Works. Singto was the knowledgeable, friendly, and cheerful greeter at the door. They got me to try a couple of fragrances that I wouldn't have tried. I told them that I preferred fruity over floral notes. Singto showed me a favorite: Gingham Gorgeous. It wasn't bad! Wow! Thanks for expanding my horizon! We talked about the displays... how the staff can transform the shop overnight, according to the season! Yes! Customers can try different hand soaps at the two sinks on either side of the shop! PLUS - there's a convenient restroom on the left side hallway! AND... I didn't know that Customers can return/exchange a product as long as the container is more than half full! They just want everyone to be satisfied! I just followed Irene here because she had some expiring points to use and some deals to cash in on! I think she only spent $8 on a whole bag of merchandise! I love this place. They have the best body care items and candles. I was here the other day for Candle Day. It's the cheapest day to get their candles and it happens once a year. This year they priced it at $9.95, plus I had a $10 off coupon. Score! They also have really cute candle holders. My favorite are the snow globe ones. You turn the button on at the base and it lights up with glitter swirling around. It's so pretty at night when all the lights are off and you have this going with the candle lit on top. Nobody backflipped at payout but they were kind enough and I always get comments on this scent it clings nicely to the skin and is nice on days that I don't wanna overdo it with Dior Sauvage(parfum $150) or a comparable fragrance. They'd love to show you samples and inform you their latest promo. I mean, who would not love B&BW for that? Dang..I forgot the 2 girls names. But shout out to the 2 young ladies that were super helpful to me and my family. One of them was a girl with long black hair. When I came in, she was super sweet and wanted us to try a sample of one of their products. She asked what I was looking for and explained where everything was so well. I was looking for soaps because there was a really good sale. I shop at BBW quite a bit over the years so I kinda knew where everything was already. But I will always appreciate good customer service! My checkout process was smooth. The guy cashier I had was super chill and had no problems with my coupons. No issues at all. On the other hand, my parents' checkout process was not. Apparently not too long after I checked out, their credit card system went down. At first my parents thought something was wrong with their card. He tried tap, insert, but nothing worked. So I went back inside to try help pay for my parents merch. I tried my card. Apple Pay, physical card, still didn't work. Unfortunately neither of us carried cash. But the employees that were helping us kept trying many different ways to help us pay with card. We had the same lady with the long black hair and another young lady with brown hair. Both of them were trying everything they could. Turns out, it wasn't just us that had issues with card. All the customers that were checking out at the time had the same problem. Eventually management came out and asked the employees what was going on. This is where I start to get a bit disappointed. The employees were trying to explain the issues with credit card payments on all machines. It seems like this was an ongoing problem all day. The manager didn't acknowledge us at all nor apologized for the situation. The manager did try to call their technical support (I think). But all she told the employees was "this seems to be a company wide problem and there's no solution. ‍" She kinda gave that attitude of "it is what it is." She did not try to guide their employees in the right direction and basically left them to fend for themselves. I can see the panicked look on especially one of the girls faces. I felt so bad for her...The employees need to be treated so much better. I work in retail and i understand the struggle when something major like card payments stop working. I also understand all too well on terrible management. Eventually the girls found a way to get my parents purchase going and somehow the card payment worked! Thank god. But I never want to go through that again. Note to self, always bring cash just in case.. I was a little iffy on whether to give 3 or 4 star rating. But the 2 young girls determination to help us was beyond 5 stars! I just have to dock a star for the inconvenience overall and the bad management. read more

With the corona virus pandemic that has our attention, I found myself looking to stock up on some necessities. One of them is hand sanitizers where they have been cleared off many shelves. After waiting about 1 hour at the Kaneohe location of Bath & Body Works (BBW) for 10 hand sanitizers, I distributed most of my supply at a recent dinner with the family. I inquired with Kaneohe BBW again only to be advised they were once again all sold out and had to wait several more days before the next shipment. Super bummed and somewhat stressed, I decided to look for an alternative. One of my friends posted on social media her haul from BBW after shopping at Ala Moana Center. When she commented her wait was a minimal 5 minutes, I immediately called this BBW to ask about their hand sanitizer inventory. To my delight I was advised they have supply on hand so the next thing I did was jump in my car and made my way over. Located on the 2nd floor Diamond Head side of Ala Moana Center with neighbors of Macy's, Apple Store and Microsoft Store, BBW is a very deep store with hand soaps, shower gels, lotions, hand sanitizers, fragrance mists, perfumes, candles, and home fragrances. For a weekday night the store was packed. Strategically placed, I found this large display of pocket hand sanitizers in many fragrances. With respect to many people wanting the same product, we were limited to 10 sanitizers per person. After selecting my merchandise, I located the end of the line to check out. It had "snaked" through the store where many consumers waited patiently. At first I was discouraged waiting in this extremely long line but then realized it was moving along. I looked up and counted 9 stations of associates assisting customers. In less than 10 minutes I was summoned to an open register to check out. The associate greeted me and was courteous when asking me if everything was okay. She rung me up and I walked out with my merchandise. I was surprised to have now witnessed a line that formed outside with customers waiting to enter BBW. Clearly the store was already busy inside and it was clever of management to control the foot traffic inside to prevent chaos. As consumers we need space while shopping. With lack of control, the result could lead into undesirable confrontations with people acting irrational and unruly. Overall, a superb shopping experience where my task was successfully accomplished. The worst location on island. They always take 3-4 days to process pick up orders. NO OTHER LOCATION ON ISLAND DOES THIS. They blame it on everything but themselves(sales, location, etc etc) I've done pick up in major cities(Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, Portland, Las Vegas) and have never had the issues I've had here. One thing I love about this store are the constant sales that they have. One thing I don't like about this store is that the scents that always seem to be popular just get discontinued. I have tried to get beautiful day for the life of me and they said they discontinued it. Why? Lol I walked in and was greeted by overly cheerful employees (always nice to see people happy to work where they are) asking me if I needed help. However, if you are going to ask for help, please know what you are doing. Lol. I think this girl was new on the job and of course I always empathize. It's ok I found my scents. Aside from hand soaps they have wide selection of body location, hand location, perfumes, home fragrances, candles etc. When you check out, they always ask who helped me. My husband bought me candles on Candle day and they didn't have the scents I wanted. Just opened them on Xmas day and I wasn't a fan. Therefore he picked some he thought I would like. Unfortunately, I did not like the candles he got. Therefore, as I know for years with their great return and EXCHANGE policy, you can just exchange the candles for the scent you want because they are all priced the same. These are not even seasonal. They're the candles they sell year round. To top it all, the manager that was working on candle day that was in the front, confirmed to him that I can exchange if I end up not liking what he got me. Two cashiers today at Ala Moana at 12/27/22 at 5:38pm (he didn't get their names and so maybe the managers can see who was working) will not do it and said he has to pay the difference. My love for types of scents changes over time for some reason. Those musky man smells have been a new like than the floral scents. The wallflowers are also my go to shop items but they are pricy! Some history of this place, I worked here when this location Ala Moana first came to Hawaii. I opened the stores and made some good friends and met some nasty people but besides that. This place was fun to work, it's easy to sell a product you love already. Recently, I went back into the store after renovation and no one I knew still worked there and the feel of the place is different. I remember many, many years ago when the Bath & Body Works hand sanitizers, Cucumber Melon specifically, somehow made you cool because only a few had them. And they smelled so good! It's strange how popular it got after that because I don't ever remember using hand sanitizers before that. Soap and water? Convenience I suppose. I've been here before, but never really browsed. The store is very clean, spacious, and well-stocked. I would say it's organized too, but the products are displayed all around the store. I came here to buy gifts for one person, but ended up getting gifts for several people, me included. I planned to buy two items, but there were specials going on: Buy two get one free, and buy three get three free. I like a good deal, and I am a generous person that takes joy in making others, who are deserving, happy. I spent a while roaming around deciding what I buy. The staff here are very friendly, very helpful, very attentive, and very informative. I was told they have a "Men's section" now. Wait, everything else were for ladies only? After a while, I finally got six items. I went with the staff's recommendations and they gave me good ones. Overall, I enjoyed shopping here, and got a great deal. Covid precautions fall short. Pre-Covid I preferred to shop in the store so I could check out new scents and I would've given this store five stars. Since the pandemic I've ordered online, but automatic $20 shipping to Hawaii isn't great, so I went in. I know the store normally has long lines but there were only two groups in front of me so I thought it would be quick & painless. It was not. First the associate outside the store informed that they were sanitizing so the wait would be a bit longer - not convenient but understandable. She then wanted to know what I would be shopping for. Um. Soaps? I now assume she was asking to determine what area of the shop I might need to be in, which would have made more sense if explained, or if it seemed to ultimately matter. A second associate allowed entry into the store and directed me to a third associate who again asks what I want to shop for - asked and answered already (perhaps it could have been asked better, but we've already covered that. She then goes on to explain where I might find certain scents in the store - ok that could be helpful if I've *never* been to a BBW, but that also could have easily been asked/answered in the 15 minutes I stood in line outside the store where social distancing was properly followed. She then proceeds to informs that a fourth associate will assist me. I asked if I needed to be escorted to which she replied no. Ok then, just give me the bag that you want me to use so that I can get on with it and get out of here. In the perhaps ten minutes that I gathered items, I was approached by no less than four more associates, in addition to the cashier. I completely understand that the staff intend to be helpful and friendly however it was far more intrusive than the level of pre-Covid interaction and completely unnecessary based upon the fact that I never once looked as if I needed assistance. I understand they are doing what they are instructed to do, so my issue is not with the staff but with the current instructions they are being given on how to interact with customers. The BIGGEST issue was really that the arrangement of items in the store has not been adjusted since the pandemic which means that ALL of the customers were clustered into the one front room where social distancing was not remotely possible given the number of customers & staff, and customers were nearly shoulder to shoulder. This is undoubtedly due to corporate instruction, but it would make far more sense to space their most popular products out throughout the three rooms of the store to encourage and allow for proper social distancing. This would also allow the staff to back off, not hover, and assist as needed rather than forcing themselves into people's personal spaces. In the end, I had no issues with the staff themselves, but I did take issue with how BBW is instructing their staff to interact with customers, and how BBW is addressing social distancing among customers and between staff and customers. Masks and hand sanitizers were readily addressed, but social distancing seems to have been thrown out the window. I honestly think I had more interaction with staff on this visit than on any other visit ever. Ultimately, paying $20 for shipping would have been much safer and I wouldn't have left a soap store feeling dirty from being surrounded by & being forced to interact with so many people. B&BW is located on the Macy's side of the mall, 2nd floor across from the Apple store. Due to covid limitations on number of people in the store and also covid itself, the lines to enter the store are long. Less people in the store means less craziness in the store. Or so you'd think. Social distancing only works when everybody follow the rules. Not everybody follows the rules. Now, everybody wants to buy awesome smelling soaps, hand sanitizers, and candles. Might as well make handwashing a more pleasurable experience! Great for gifts, especially for Christmas. So thanks to the line, B&BW has a nice air conditioned room next door for people to stand and wait in. It's very cool of them to do so. Double meaning, get it? At the entrance, you get a spritz of hand sanitizer. Which is good of them to do, I was in there picking up all the different candles to smell to see if they were worth buying. They still have the handwash sinks with tester soaps so you can sample the soaps. They give you a paper bag to use as your shopping basket, this way they don't have sanitize the baskets. The catch is, at checkout, they ask you if you want to purchase the bag for 15 cents. So if you want to save 15 cents, bring your own bag. From my experience shopping there on Saturday, I was actually pretty disappointed with the social distance measures by two male employees. They were busy chatting with each other and came close to me for no reason. I felt like they invaded my personal space. At least the other BB&W employees were only close to me when they asked me if I was looking for anything in particular. So they lose a star there. Also, at checkout, of all the available cashiers, they put me and another customer at cashiers that were next to each other. It would've been nice to space us apart better. If you're frugal like me, you'd want to buy when things are on sale and at good prices. BB&W is always having sales, but they're not always the best prices. So stock up when you think it's good to buy. read more

As a Bath & Body Works addict, I can honestly say the selection of products at this location is MUCH better than the Pearl Ridge one. I just hate coming to Ala Moana because of the sheer size of the mall & parking lot. I do however love that the store seems bigger here & I don't have to worry about squeezing between shelves & wall displays & accidentally knocking something over. The staff is equally friendly & helpful at both locations &, obviously, the prices are the same. I shop at BBW for just about everything. From their hand soaps & sani-bacs, scentportables, wallflowers, room/linen sprays, body care (mostly just lotions & body sprays but sometimes I'll pick up body washes) &, most importantly, CANDLES!! I also love to shop for gifts because, let's be honest, who doesn't love something adorable & delicious smelling?!? I love that they are always sending emails with coupons or some kind of promotion. With SAS going on now, I've been visiting about twice a week. read more
