I love makeup. I used to be a VIB Rouge for years before the pandemic. Ever since we had to wear masks I haven't been into makeup as much. I didn't want my foundation and lipstick smearing all over. We were at Kahala Mall, so I figured that I would come in and get my annual birthday gift. They usually give you three or four choices to pick from. Sephora Ala Moana is very popular but if you want a better/ peaceful shopping experience, Kahala is it. It's a smaller store but most of the time, I have been able to get the products I needed. There's always been someone available to help me find products or answer a few questions within a few minutes. In particular, I'm a fan of makeup artist, Kazuko. I've had a handful of beauty services over the years at other locations, but she's the first one who knew exactly what I wanted, without my articulating it very well. I usually come in with a list of hyped up products that make me giddy when I meet them because they are so pretty to look at and my favorite beauty influencers rave about them- but that I never reach for once they're in my possession. I don't have the patience to research everything carefully or experiment anymore, nor do I care to spend 35 min putting on makeup everyday, like I used to. I don't want cluttered bathroom counters with expiring makeup sitting pretty. I need a few quality staples that tell the world that when I need to, I can put myself together well. That when the mood strikes, I can play with my look, knowing it can't go wrong. So that's where Kazuko comes in. She did my makeup last December. I bought most of the products she used, and still love them, which is shocking because she did take me out of my comfort zone, product wise, but it perfectly achieved the look I was going for: Enhancing what's there, dark eyes that pop, fresh, and work appropriate. She effortlessly recommends products that work for you, your personality, and lifestyle. Really easy, no nonsense, but so amazing when I make the effort. Sephora was having the "gifts for all event" sale so I went in, armed again with my list of hyped up products that won't work for me. But Kazuko is working! Everyone in the store was very nice in helping me find the items I need. The checkout experience left me feeling bad though. I was in the checkout line looking at some items on the side no one behind me and the girl named Izzy said hellloooo with attitude, for me to come forward. I told her hi sorry about that, and she just looked aggravated from the start while proceeding to ring up my items. I bought a gift card and I asked if they had the gift card sleeves. She said nooo we ran out dismissing my request without even bothering to check. However her coworker brought it out immediately, while she was checking out someone else. Izzy's demeanor was very unwelcoming and unprofessional. She had a sour look on her face and spoke to me with rudeness. My Yelp friend Maritess C., her daughter and I went to this location back in September 2021. The COVID-19 pandemic has lead to changes in how everyday life occurs and it was hard not to touch everything and do swatches lol. There was one worker here I wanted to spotlight for her excellent customer service! I did not get a chance to get her name. She was a Japanese woman and was super helpful in assisting me in choosing different products. She also had a very pretty chain that was attached to her face mask :) I explained to her I was interested in 'The Ordinary' skincare line. And was looking for something for my mom. My mom never spends any money or time on herself and had always focused on raising us kids growing up. I wanted to get her a simple, no fuss, one step serum for her face. I already had the 'Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5' serum and that one was a bit sticky after applying to the face. I was curious of the texture of this serum. This worker demonstrated different products for me like 'Buffet' serum. She was very knowledgeable and humble in her explanations. She said she also used the product before and gave her own opinion on it. I decided to get one. I also asked about that red colored 'IG/ Tiktok famous' Peeling Solution 30ml AHA 30% + BHA 2%. She personally recommended something a little less strong for the skin on the face like a salicylic acid product from the same line. Afterwards she also asked me about getting I thanked her for her help and decided to get the peeling solution to try out as well for acne. When I paid she also helped me at the cash wrap. She was very professional and courteous. I liked that she helped me make informed decisions on which products to get by providing her expertise on them. She was very positive and friendly. I was happy with my experience here. ZERO STARS!!!!! I am absolutely livid with this location. I have a photoshoot in TWO DAYS and they JUST called to cancel my makeup appointment that I had booked over a month ago. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! What am I supposed to do now!?!!! If you don't have a makeup artist or don't know their availability, don't open up the schedule until you do. People pay hundreds of dollars for photoshoots, it takes time to coordinate everything, and to be stiffed at the last minute is absurd. Okay so I'm a makeup junkie and heard about Sephora's grand opening today at Kahala mall and was excited. My sister in law and I came a little after 10 am and there was already a long line out the door and around the mall. While waiting, we were given a free sample of Kiehl's midnight recovery serum. Cool! I had a list of what I wanted to purchase and was looking on the Sephora website. I had a very nice lady helping me find my items. After getting my items, I went in line and spent over $100 and got a free tote bag. A major plus and being a Rouge member, I earn points and have a free gift on my birthday! I claimed mine back in January. I also get free shipping when I order online. Major plus! The ladies working here were so helpful and nice. I loved the customer service here. Checked out the new Sephora store at Kahala Mall today with my youngest daughter. I love that this store has finally opened in my 'hood because other than Macy's, there aren't any nearby options beyond drugstore make-up. The store itself is much smaller than their Ala Moana location, but I'll take what I can get! They still have a great selection of make-up, fragrance and hair product options to choose from. What impressed me the most from today's visit was the level of customer service we received from our greeting when we walked in to a lovely Japanese woman who answered my questions about magnetic lashes for my daughter's upcoming cheer competition. Grand opening for this new Sephora in Kahala Mall!!! I had to wait an extra 45 mins in line because the Kahu was running super late to bless the store. But that's not the stores fault. Everyone was super excited to open their doors and I loved how clean and bright everything is inside of this store. It is located where Banana Republic used to be, right next door to Apple. The store is slightly smaller than the Ala Moana location with only 2 registers available. What I came here for was to get the new JLo skincare line! Super excited to try these products out. And for their grand opening here, if you spend $100, you get a free Sephora bag. It's a zipped up satchel! Will post pics once I get home. Came here after aimlessly wandering the rows and rows of makeup at the Ala Moana Location with no assistance in sight. Was instantly greeted and paired up with Colby who listened to everything I was looking for and was able to provide me with great recommendations. That poor boy ran all over the store pulling product for me. He walked me through application process and gave me some tips and tricks on how to build up my makeup for more coverage. Finally a Sephora nearby in a mall that I actually frequent! This brand new Sephora is small, clean, but has most of the brands that I want and need. The employees are nice and knowledgeable. I appreciated one who when I asked about a celebrity skincare product kindly told me she wouldn't use it and showed me a better product with higher efficacy and it was cheaper which is always nice.
